“Who’s Jackson?” he asks.
“Sorry, Hun, but that’s something you need to ask her. She was a total mess when I went to Arizona to get her. She was drunk and I mean wasted, for her that’s rare. She’s trying to protect you,” She tells him.
Walking out of the room, Luke looks up with those concerned eyes. My heart aches as I tell him who Jason is.
“She’s right I’m doing this to protect you. Jackson was someone met while in Arizona. Jason found me, threatened me just like he did now, I didn’t listen and Jackson was on his way to see me when the police said he had an accident, but Jason had a hand in Jackson’s death.” I look at Luke for a brief moment, “I left earlier because someone was watching us.” I said trying to hold back the tears.
“I can hire someone to protect you. Please let me do this much for you,” he says as he kisses my forehead. Laying my head on his chest my body starts to relax.
“I’m feeling tired so I’m going to lie down.” I look at Luke with puppy dog eyes and ask, “Would you lay with me until I fall asleep I don’t want to be alone, please?” He nods as I show him to my bedroom. He looks around the room and chuckles. “What’s so funny?” I ask
“You are just like Angel says you are,” he says with a grin.
“Well I hope that’s a good thing?” I say laughing as I lay down on the bed.
“Oh it is, I’ve never watched anime before. Maybe we can watch it sometime when you’re not busy,” he says laughing.
“It’s more like if you’re not busy. After all you’re the multi-billionaire,” I chuckle. I throw my hands over my mouth embarrassed, “Oh my God, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean it the way it sounded.”
“Don’t worry about it; after all it’s the truth. But know this I will always make time for someone I care about,” he says wrapping his arms around me. “Now get some sleep, you have a big day tomorrow.” He kisses my head. And a few minutes later I drift peacefully off to sleep.
