Mom, tickled pink, said, “You’d better believe it. And I have enough of them I could make a bouquet the size of a pig.”
“Nice imagery, Mom,” Hannah giggled.
“It’s true. I’ve got so many flowers planted back here, Ruby could take her pick for a bridal bouquet.”
“Thanks, Mom, but I think I might just carry a cactus down the aisle so I don’t inadvertently kill it with my brown thumb before I make it to the altar.”
My mom took a swipe at me and chided, “Don’t ruin this for me, Ruby. I will not allow my daughter to marry anyone holding a cactus. What? Do you not want to get married?”
“That’s not what I said. I just—”
“I’d like to see you settled down before I die.”
My dad chuckled at my mother’s dramatics. “I think we’ve got a few good years left in us, dear.”
Humiliated by my mother’s pushiness, I looked at Collin, apologizing for her with a sheepish gaze. “Is this why people elope?”
Collin shrugged and smirked at me. Handsome as always in his tux, he disagreed, “I think your mom is on to something. A May wedding here would be gorgeous. Don’t you think?”
My lips pulled into a grin as Collin kissed my knuckles, agreeing, “We’ll just have to wait and see.”

About Rachael
Rachael Eliker is an avid reader and author with eclectic tastes, a life-long horse fanatic, and self-taught home renovator (a skill which has been tested on every home she’s ever owned). She forces herself to nurture her love/hate relationship with running by jogging along lonely stretches of country road with her cowardly dog who would leave her for dead should anything ever happen. Married to her very own absentminded rocket scientist, together they have more kids than most people can comprehend. When she’s not writing, she enjoys mucking stalls, riding her geriatric horse, milking their ornery Jersey cow, and wondering what life would be like as a celebrity if she wasn’t content being an introvert.
