When Becca got to her office the next day, she was alarmed to see a man in a dark suit sitting in the reception area. He was the same man she had seen speaking with Tom, and when she entered he stood up.
“Miss Harris?”
“Yes?”
The man approached her and held out his hand. “My name is Agent Keller. I’d like to speak with you.”
Becca shook his hand and tried a joke: “It’s a good thing your mom named you agent, considering you became one.”
The man laughed. “I’ve actually never heard that one before. I’m going to have to use it on my partner.”
“Will he be joining us?”
“No, you’re stuck with me, I’m afraid,” Agent Keller said. “Tom was kind of enough to offer us the conference room to use. Shall we?”
“Sure,” Becca said, and they moved through the office together. She took a seat at one end of the long table while Keller shut the door, and then he sat across from her. There were two bottles of water on the table, and Becca took one and opened it. She drank deeply.
“Nervous?” Keller asked.
“It’s not every day that I’m interviewed by a federal agent.”
“I didn’t even show you my badge. I might not be a federal agent.”
“You look like one.”
“Do you know a lot of federal agents?”
Becca laughed softly. “I watch enough movies.”
That made the man laugh and he reached into his suit jacket and pulled out his FBI badge. She only glanced at it, satisfied that he was who he said he was.
“Anyway, there’s nothing to be nervous about. I just want to get a better feel for what happened those first few nights.”
“After we heard the signal you mean?”
“Signal? Was it a signal?”
Becca went to answer, but the agent held up his hand and pulled something from his pocket. It was a small digital recorder. “Do you mind if I tape this? I hate taking notes.”
“Sure,” Becca said, and the man set the recorder on the table and turned it on.
“You were saying that the sound was a signal?”
“I just assumed it was at the time. In fact, it is. Someone here cracked it. It repeated. It was clearly the same thing over and over.”
“I did see what the message said. Very interesting.”
“Yes. It was exciting.”
“But it’s not now?”
Becca shrugged her shoulders. “Nothing came from it. It was a message. A call for help. We answered, and that was that. We never got a reply.”
“Everyone here seems upset about that,” Keller said.
“Yes. We’re still upset. This could have been big. You’re here, you know what I mean. I assume Tom contacted you guys, and they sent you out?”
“My partner and me. He’s not a people person.”
“I see.”
“But yes, we thought this might be something important. We were hoping the same as you.”
“Well, I’m sorry I don’t have any more to tell you.”
“That’s okay. I just like to hear about everything from the people themselves.”
So, for the next hour, Becca painstakingly told the agent about that night with Tom, and then about the office’s efforts to crack the code and make contact. When they were done, the agent shut his recorder off.
“Can I ask you something?” Becca asked.
“Of course,” Keller said.
“If we had made contact, what would you have done? The government I mean.”
Keller smiled. “I don’t know. I would have done whatever my boss had told me to.”
Becca nodded, and the Keller got up and left, after shaking her hand across the table.
At home that night, Becca sat with the alien. She had told him about her meeting with Agent Keller. “I think they’re up to something. I think this guy and his partner are bad news. The government is bad news.”
“These are the people elected to represent you,” Key said with an incredulous look upon his face. “Don’t they help you when you need it?”
That made Becca laugh. “That’s not how it works on this planet. Corporations and people with money buy the people we elect. They screw us to get richer.”
“That sounds awful.”
“It is. If they get a hold of you, and they decide your blood cures cancer, or fuels weapons, or something like that, they’ll take it from you. You won’t have any rights. This guy; this agent Keller, he rubbed me up the wrong way. I think he knows more than he’s letting on.”
“Are you in danger? If my being here is putting you and Gia in danger, I will leave.”
Gia wasn’t there. She was working overtime, and she had phoned to tell Becca she would get a hotel in the city that night.
“I don’t want you to leave,” Becca said, shaking her head. She was sitting on the edge of the bed, and she reached over and placed her hand on Key’s chest. He reached for her hand and took it.
“Thank you for everything you are doing,” Key said. Becca nodded, looking down at him, and she felt something then, something she had been feeling for the last few days, since the alien had arrived. Maybe even before that, when she had been speaking with the man from space. An attraction; a pull to him. She bent down, and pressed her lips to his. He tasted strange, but not unpleasant. His breath was hot against her mouth, but tantalizing, and his taste sweet. She shifted on the bed to lie beside him, not breaking their kiss. His tongue pushed against her lips and she parted them so their tongues could dance together in a velvety dance. Becca had to wonder how much this alien had shared with her. Nodding. French kissing.
She was on her side, facing him, and he was on his back, his head turned. Her hand was on his chest, and she let her fingertips run along his muscular pecs. Their tongues kept up their dance, and Becca felt her nipples harden, pressing against the cups of her bra.
The alien reached over, across his own body, to place his hand on her hip, pulling her closer to him. Her hands travelled down his chest, lightly over his bandages, and then under the covers, where he had been lying nude. She had helped him to the shower that morning, and he still smelled of her soap.
She found his alien member with her fingertips; he was throbbing and half hard, springing forth at her touch and growing rock hard as she wrapped her fingers around his shaft.
“Yes,” the alien moaned against her mouth. His hand moved upwards, pulling at the hem of her shirt, and she broke the kiss and sat up to pull her shirt off, and to throw the covers back off him.
He looked just like a human man down there, his skin blue, his penis hard and uncut, with a tuft of black pubic hair above his massive member. His testicles were the same, tight and pulled taut as his cock throbbed above. She reached behind herself and unhooked her bra, letting it fall away before tossing it to the floor after her shirt. His eyes looked over her ravenously, and he sat up with a grimace of pain, letting one hand cup one of her breasts as his lips met the other.
Becca groaned as the alien bit and nibbled and sucked her nipple. She reached down and found him once more, taking him in hand and jerking him up and down slowly. Her own crotch was a fiery pit of passion; she could feel her hot juices flowing. She knew she was about to make love to the alien being, a blue man from space. Somehow, it didn’t seem that strange.
She let go of his cock and shimmed out of her pants and panties, already barefoot, so that she was now completely nude. She threw one leg over his hips while he laid back, and she reached down to take a hold of his manhood once more, using her fingers to guide him into her as she brought her hips down.
He groaned and thrust his hips upward, burying himself deep within her. Becca bent, pressing her lips to his, careful to keep her stomach from pressing against his. As they kissed her let his hands move to her backside, cupping and squeezing her backside as she bucked slowly atop him.
They made love, working slowly, her hips moving up and down, his rising to meet hers when she brou
ght hers towards the bed. His hands moved about her body, feeling her ass, her breasts, running up along her side, his strong fingers sliding along her ribs like a mallet on a xylophone.
Their passion was tangible, the heat in the room rising, and the window became fogged. She climaxed first, moaning against his open mouth as the passion in her loins spilled over, sending shockwaves of pleasure through her core, and causing the walls of her vagina to contract and clench his dick, which he could not resist. He threw his head back and arched his back, driving himself deeper than he had previously been within her as he came, his cock jumping as he filled her with his sperm.
She sat atop him for a moment, letting her fingers slide along his chest, moving up to run along his jawline, and then she climbed off.
“I’m going to shower,” she said with a smile, and he responded by reaching up and touching her hip.
“That was something else,” he said.
“It was,” she agreed, and she turned and went to the bathroom. Standing under the hot water, she tried to wrap her mind around what had just happened. What had taken over her mind and body like that? She had needed him then, had wanted him, and she wouldn’t let her brain talk her body out of it.
Now, though, she felt awkward. Key was an alien that she was hiding in her bedroom. He had come from space; she had built a wormhole to get him there. And she had just ridden his cock. She felt his sperm sliding out of her and running down the inside of her thigh, mixing with the hot water.
She cleaned herself quickly, and washed her hair. Then, as she was drying off, one foot up on the edge of the tub, she heard the doorbell ring. She took a robe off of the back of the door and pulled it on, tying the terry cloth belt around her waist as she hurried to the door, where someone was ringing the bell again. She pulled it open without looking out, and she was shocked to see Agent Keller there, with another man next to him.
“This is Agent Sampson,” Keller said, indicating his partner. Sampson was black, his skin a dark mocha, his eyes brown. His head was shaved, and his body beefy. He looked very strong. He held his hand out, and Becca shook it.
“Bad time?” Keller asked her, indicating her robe.
“Just got out of the shower,” Becca said.
“Could we come in?” Keller asked.
“Uh, yes,” Becca said, not able to think straight, inn her shock at finding two federal agents on her doorstep. She stepped back and the men came in. She led them to the living room.
“Have a seat,” she said. “I’m going to get dressed.”
“Sure,” Keller said, and he sat on the couch, with his partner sitting beside him.
Becca turned and hurried to her bedroom. She went inside and shut the door. Key looked to her, and opened his mouth to speak, but she shook her head and held a finger to her lips. He didn’t know what that meant, of course, but he could get the gist. He stayed quiet, and she began to dress. She came forward after she had pulled on jeans and a bra and tee shirt.
“Federal agents are here. I don’t know why. You have to stay quiet.”
Key nodded. She turned and left the room, pulling the door shut behind her. The agents were right where she had left them in the living room.
“Coffee or anything?” She asked, determined to play a kind host, and to keep from showing how nervous she was.
“No, we won’t be that long; we just wanted to ask you a few more questions. Do you mind?” As he spoke, Keller pulled the digital recorder from his pocket. He hit the button and set it on the coffee table. Becca fell into the arm chair across from them.
“Sure,” she said. “There’s not much else to say though.”
“I think you might remember something,” Sampson said. It was the first time she had heard him talk. His voice was deep and gravelly, and it suited the strong man perfectly. “Sometimes you remember stuff a day or so later from an interview.”
“Okay, I mean, you can ask anything. I’m an open book.”
“Alright,” Keller said, taking over once more. “Did you work on the signal at home, after that first night? Did you work on cracking it?”
“Yes, of course. I was excited to do so. I worked all weekend and I still couldn’t get it.”
“You didn’t get it?” Keller asked.
“Nope.”
“I went through it with your co-worker, the guy who did crack it. I mean, I think it seemed kind of obvious, in a way.”
“It is once you know the answer,” Becca said with a shrug. “But it was tough. I would have gotten it eventually, I do know that.”
“Okay,” Keller said with a smile. “Here’s the deal, and I’m going to lay it all out here.”
“Wait a minute,” Sampson said, reaching forward and taking the recorder off the table. He turned it off and handed it to his partner. Keller took it and slipped it back into his pocket.
“Right, thanks. Okay, so we were going to come here and pressure you and get you to crack, but honestly, I don’t think you’re going to crack. You’re a tough cookie, but my partner wanted to be sure. He’s sure now, right?”
“I am,” the black man said.
“Okay, so here’s the deal. We aren’t dumb and we’ve seen the power consumption here has skyrocketed. I mean, your electric bill this month is going to be off the charts. Then, a few nights ago, there was a massive spike in energy around here. We can see that. We can read that. All of it. It’s not hard for us. So we know something is going on. That’s what we know. I can tell you what I think.”
“What do you think?”
“I think you made contact. And whatever you found out, you don’t want us to know. I don’t know why you would hide something like that from your boss and your co-workers, but I think it’s because you saw me that morning.”
“There’s nothing,” Becca said. She was looking Keller right in the eye, surprising herself with how calm and collected she was being.
“I already told you, we won’t get you to crack. Not with words.”
“So,” Sampson took over as he stood and reached to his belt. “You’re under arrest.”
He pulled handcuffs free, and his partner stood up as well, one hand going inside his suit jacket, and Becca was sure he was gripping the butt of a gun.
“Under arrest? What for?”
“This is federal stuff. I don’t have to follow the same rules, you know? That whole ‘read you your rights’ or ‘have valid reasons to detain you’ stuff. Between you and me, I’m not really even a fed. Sure we get the badges and all that, but when you’re dealing with aliens and shit, it’s not FBI. I’m above the FBI. If I wanted to I could lock you up and throw away the key and you would never even seen the inside of a courtroom,” Sampson said.
“You’re bluffing,” Becca said, standing up, her eyes wide.
“If we wanted, we could just shoot you,” Keller said, and he pulled his gun from his holster.
Becca opened her mouth to speak, but then there was a blur of blue at the corner of her vision and she turned just in time to see Key run at the two men. He crashed into Sampson and sent the bigger man flying into his partner. Keller dropped his gun and Key was already going for it, scrambling over the two men.
“We must leave!” Key was yelling, grabbing the gun and turning to look at Becca. The young woman was in shock, her mouth hanging open, her feet glued to the floor. “Becca!” The alien roared, and she looked at him.
Sampson had pulled his gun from his holster and he took aim at the blue alien. He fired, but his shot went wide, cracking into the wall of Gia’s living room. The gun got Becca moving. She rushed for her purse on the end table, and then for the door. Key held the agent’s gun but did not fire. Instead, he rushed after the Earthling woman to whom he had just made love. He was nude, but not modest, and made no attempt to cover up as she led him to her car.
She dove into the driver’s seat and cranked the engine. Key turned by the car and finally fired the gun, splintering the wood off the doorjamb, forcing the pursuing agents t
o dive to the side. Key climbed in and suddenly Becca was moving, pulling her car out of the driveway and whipping out backwards onto the road. Key opened his door and leaned out as Sampson appeared once more in the doorway to fire at Becca’s car. Key took aim, but not at Sampson or Keller. Instead he targeted their car, and two of the tires blew out. They would not be able to give chase.
“Go!” Key yelled as Becca put the car into gear and slammed her foot down on the pedal. Her tires spun, as three bullets from Sampson’s gun found the side of her car, and then they caught and the car rocketed forward, leaving the two agents, and her new home, behind.
Chapter Ten
The first thing Becca had to do was find some clothes for Key and shoes for herself. She had her purse, so that meant she had money. She couldn’t believe how clearly she was thinking, and although neither she nor Key spoke, she was formulating a plan in her head.
She got onto the highway and went up five exits before getting off and driving a few miles to a Walmart. She parked at the rear of the lot, and told Key to stay out of sight. She walked in barefoot, but no one paid that fact much mind. She bought herself some cheap sneakers, and then jeans and a baggy hoody for Key. After a moment’s hesitation, she bought him boxer shorts, and then she paid, donned her shoes, and hurried out to the car.
“What is this?” Key asked as she climbed in and tossed the bag to him.
“You’re naked,” she said, and then despite everything that had happened in the last half hour, or hour or so, if you counted making love to an alien as something insane, she laughed. He laughed too, and she watched as he awkwardly dressed in the car.
When he was done he looked over to her. “I’m sorry, this is all my fault,” he said.
“It’s okay,” she said with a smile, and he reached over and cupped her chin.
“I like it when you smile,” he said, and then she couldn’t help but beam at him.
“Okay, so what do we do now?” She asked.
“I don’t know,” the alien admitted. “You seemed to be doing so well on your own, I didn’t bother coming up with a plan.”
