ARNOLD PALMER LANDMARKS
PLAQUES
Cherry Hills, Denver, first tee, in honor of his 1960 U.S. Open victory
Country Club of Detroit, in honor of his 1954 U.S. Amateur win
Royal Birkdale, 16th hole, to recognize a famous shot he hit during the 1961 Open Championship
Ignominiously, Rancho Park Golf Course, for the 12 he took on the 18th hole on January 6, 1961, in the Los Angeles Open
At Augusta National, one of the many landmarks is a Palmer plaque attached to a drinking fountain behind the 16th tee
STATUES
Laurel Valley Golf Course, Ligonier, Pa., unveiled on September 10, 2009, in honor of his 80th birthday
Wake Forest has a statue on campus at its practice facility in front of the Haddock House that depicts him posed in his follow-through.
A Palmer statue also stands at the Arnold Palmer Regional Airport and Georgia Golf Hall of Fame.
FACILITIES
The Latrobe airport is named the Arnold Palmer Regional Airport in Latrobe; it was formerly known as the Westmoreland County Airport.
The U.S. Golf Association in New Jersey has named part of its facility the United States Golf Association Museum and Arnold Palmer Center for Golf History.
When Palmer was 85, the Latrobe High School athletic building was named the Arnold Palmer Field House.
In Orlando, next to the Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies is the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children.
In La Quinta, Calif., there is the Arnold Palmer Restaurant, and a Wake Forest University residence hall is named after him.
ROADS
There are Arnold Palmer Boulevards in Louisville, Ky., and Norton, Mass., and Arnold Palmer Drives in Orlando; Raleigh, N.C.; Haymarket, Va.; Belleville, Ill.; Tucson, Ariz.; Blaine, Minn.; Gibsonia, Pa.; and Virginia Beach, Va.
The most famous Arnold Palmer Drive is in Latrobe, Pa., which is where the high school is located: 131 Arnold Palmer Drive. Off of Arnold Palmer Drive is 123 Legends Lane, the address of Arnold Palmer Enterprises. As for bodies of water, at Sedgefield Country Club, the creek on the then 16th hole in the 1972 Greater Greensboro Open was unofficially called “Arnie’s Creek” due to the triple bogey he took from it, which wiped out his two-shot lead and sent him to a tie for third.
