The Heart Series: Complete Boxed Set Page 100

by King, C. M

“I promise. Now that we have all the mushiness out the way, how about we order some pizza?” I needed things to return to normal, B being emotional was seriously freaking me out.

B’s stomach rumbled signalling her approval. “Oh god yeah, a meat feast for me.”

“Now there’s a surprise.” I winked and she cackled.

“Oooh it’s Saturday, so Simon will be delivering.”

I clapped my hands in delight. “Oh sweet lord, get it rang in, that guy is beyond hot.” Simon was the sexiest delivery guy ever. He had a body that would make you drool more than the pizza. It was fair to say he made a hell of a lot of large tips from very happy customers that were more than happy to see him turn up at their door.

“I know, right? I could eat the pizza right off him, no plates required.” She was practically salivating before we had even put the order in.

“Oh hell yeah, that would be one fantasy I’d like to see brought to life.”

“Did you know he goes to my gym?” she said in such a matter of fact way like it was everyday news.

“No—has someone been keeping quiet so they can have him all to themselves?” The little witch, fancy not telling me something so significant as that.

“Errr maybe,” she replied, not even bothering to lie.

  “Greedy bitch.”

“Well this girl doesn’t like to share, you know that,” she retorted trying to justify her actions.

“I might have to join this gym.” There were no buts about it, if Simon was there flashing that body in all his glory, I would be there to witness it all.

“No freaking way,” she fumed as I shook my head in disbelief at her reaction.

“Like I said greedy.” She never did like to share, always stealing from other kids as a child when she couldn’t get her way.

“You got that right.” She winked and leapt up to grab the phone and I laughed. I guess some things never changed.

  * * *

“Keep your head still,” I barked. She always was twitchy from the moment I started brushing on the hair dye. How the hell was I supposed to do my job when she acted like she had ants in her pants.

“But you have gotten it on my face. I don’t want to walk around with an orange mark.” She groaned, looking annoyed.

“It would easily blend in with your foundation,” I added.

  What? It was the truth.

  “What a bi-atch.”

“Listen, do you want to do your own hair?” I was just about ready to walk away at her ungrateful antics.

  “No.” She pouted.

“Well then put up or shut up.” I was done with her complaints. She was on my last nerve.

“Can you pass me another cookie, and I’d love another coffee when you’re done,” she all but ordered.

  Excuse me?

“Cheeky bitch,” I muttered under my breath.

  “I heard that,” she snapped.

“Good to know you’re hearing is still intact then,” I retorted sarcastically.

“Is that my phone?” B asked, jumping up.

“Jeez, B, next time give me a little warning.” I quickly wiped up the spilled dye before it had chance to stain.

She pulled a face. “Sorry, but I’ve been waiting for Luke to text me back.”

“You are definitely smitten, aren’t you?” I asked, feeling a level of unease run right through me.

“Yeah, I think he could be someone really special. I know it’s early days, but he really is perfect and he is amazing in bed. The things he can do with his tongue and his di—”

“Sheesh, enough with the overshare, thanks,” I exclaimed, widening my eyes.

“What’s wrong? Thought you liked listening to all the details, you’ve never complained before.”

“Yeah, but he’s your boyfriend, not a one-night stand guy that you throw away. I have to talk to Luke and be around him. I don’t need those kind of things in my head.” Things were already hard enough after our little altercation, without throwing any more embarrassing stories into the mix.

“Well fine, I’ll keep how amazing Luke is to myself,” she huffed, crossing her arms in annoyance.

  “Good.”

  “Fine.” She pouted.

“Oh don’t go in a mood, or else I won’t let you have any ice cream,” I teased.

“What kind?” she muttered, trying to appear uninterested, but she was not fooling anyone.

“Errr only your favourite, chocolate brownie.”

She bit her lip contemplating that thought. “Well okay then.”

I knew I would win her over.

“What’s happening with you and Ollie, got any further than kissing yet?” she inquired.

“That’s private.” I was not in the mood to say any more.

  “Oh come on!”

“Nope, when you’re in a relationship some things stay private.” I wanted what was happening between Ollie and me to stay between us. B had already stuck the knife in once so I was not giving her any ammunition to interfere again.

  “Do you really like him?”

“I more than like him,” I confessed.

  I really did.

“Awww, I’m happy for you. Is he coming to the party?”

A smile broke out over my face at the very thought. “Of course. He’s my number one guest.” I was finally going to have my very own boyfriend attend my birthday party. It was a dream come true for someone who had spent the vast majority of the last few years single.

  “Ahem.”

“Something stuck in your throat there,” I teased, knowing fine well what she was getting at.

She scowled her disapproval. “I thought I was your number one. We do everything together,” she huffed.

“Well now we have different priorities. Things were eventually going to change, B, it’s called growing up.”

“I don’t want it to change. I always want to be your plus one.” She pouted, looking thoroughly disgruntled by the new chain of events.

“Sorry, B, you can be my sometimes plus one,” I offered, trying to placate her from becoming too upset.

  “Jeez, thanks.”

“I think I need to get you that ice cream now.” I quickly stepped away before she had a temper tantrum. Chocolate brownie was my only hope of saving her from blowing up. Maybe two extra scoops were needed.

  “Yeah,” she mumbled. Looking unimpressed.

“You know you’ll always be my number one cousin though. That won’t change,” I said soothingly, giving her a smile.

  “I suppose . . .”

“How about we wash this dye off and sit down with the ice cream and enjoy Pretty Woman?”

She nodded her head, thankfully I had appeased her enough. It had always been B and me all the way but Ollie was becoming such a bigger part of my life. I knew I had to adjust to make room for him too.

  Chapter Fifteen

“Is this straight?” B shrieked as I headed into Luke’s lounge.

“No left a bit, right, no left a bit. Oh it’s still crooked.”

“Oh do it yourself then,” she yelled tossing the decoration at me, storming off to get ready.

Luke chuckled walking through. “Yep, your cousin, at times, does have a little bit of a temper.” He wasn’t wrong there.

I smiled and kept myself busy re-hanging the decoration for the party. After what had gone down the other day, I felt awkward to be in the same room and now that B had left, it was even weirder.

“Here, let me help.” He pressed up tight against me so I could feel every single muscle. My eyes bulged at his close proximity. Holy shit, I could feel the outline of his cock between my bum cheeks. My breathing becoming faster, and my cheeks heated. I swear you could fry an egg on them.

“I think that’s fine now,” I added, desperate to move away.

“No, it’s a little too high here.” He pressed again, and I squirmed at the thought that this was intentional. Had what happened the other day been real?

; I made to move, but he held me there for a few moments. The only sound was our breaths. Well until B came barrelling into the room, her hair in rollers, wearing just her underwear.

“Have you seen the iron? I need it for my dress.”

Luke quickly pushed away from me. “Yep, I’ll just go grab it.”

I busied myself quickly hanging the final one as B stood there smiling. “That looks great, E, your party will be a success. You need to get ready though, it’s in less than an hour.” She pointed to the clock.

“Shit!” I hadn’t noticed it was that late. I headed to Luke’s room almost bumping into him on the way.

  “Shit–sorry,” I stumbled in surprise.

“No worries.” He gave me a wink and I blushed. I couldn’t help but wonder if it had more of a meaning behind it. I had to keep calm. I had a party to host, and Ollie was coming in thirty minutes. It would be a stretch, but I could do it. I’d just have to cut down on my beauty regime, it was a tall task, but it was doable.

I slicked my hair into a parting and smiled, thankfully, it hadn’t taken too long to perfect. I was looking very 1920s. I quickly washed the remains of the gel from my hands then buttoned up my waistcoat, straightening my cravat, only to hear the doorbell.

Luke shouted that he’d get it, and my eyes bulged in alarm as I barrelled towards the door. “No, it’s fine.” I quickly nudged him out the way to open the door to an awkward looking Ollie that instantly looked pleased to see me.

“Hey Oll, glad you found it okay.” I quickly manoeuvred him by Luke, depositing the beers into Luke’s arms before dragging him off towards the bedroom.

Slamming the door behind us, I pressed Ollie against the wall and kissed him hard. He seemed surprised at first but equally kissed me back. Several moments later, I pulled back and leaned my forehead against his.

“Thank you I needed that,” I said rather breathlessly.

“Hey, what’s wrong?” he asked, looking concerned.

“Nothing, it’s just been one of those days. Everything has been crazy. I rushed to get ready and I’m just glad you’re here.”

I softly kissed him again, and he chuckled against my lips. “I’m glad I can help calm you. You seem so stressed.”

“I am. Who said planning a party would be fun?” I was about to go into cardiac arrest.

“What are you doing tomorrow for your actual birthday?”

“Oh me, B and my mum are going for a swanky birthday lunch.” I smiled. It was the one thing I loved to do on my birthday.

  “Sounds great.”

“Come if you want,” I offered, hoping he’d say yes.

“No, that’s fine, if you want to keep it just family. . .” he said awkwardly, averting his eyes away from mine.

“Hey, I was going to ask you later. I didn’t want to pressure you into going, but it would be so good to have my boyfriend spend the day with me.”

He bit his lip deep in thought. “I’d need to ask my dad for the afternoon off, but if I work the morning then that should be fine.”

“Oh shit, I forgot about that, with school being out I just assumed everyone else could get the time off.” The long holidays were the one thing I loved about college life.

“If I can’t then I’ll definitely make it up to you later,” he added with a smile.

“Oh you will, huh? Can’t wait.” I didn’t give him chance to respond before quickly silencing him with a much needed kiss.

  * * *

The party didn’t take long to get started. More people turned up than planned, but I always did go along with the philosophy: the more the merrier. I kept Ollie close, he didn’t know many people and would be easily intimidated, but he joined in conversations and interacted way better than expected. I think the alcohol helped to ease the awkwardness, and I couldn’t help feel proud to have him by my side. B shamelessly tried to steal the limelight. She was dancing on the coffee table, but Luke soon moved her, laughing at her antics as he tried to take away her alcohol and give her some water. She had drank too much too fast, but that was usually the way she rolled. She didn’t do things by half.

Luke kept his distance, which was a relief. I’d felt uneasy with his actions earlier and was left confused thinking I probably hadn’t read it wrong. There was definitely something there, and the frightening part of it was that I had felt a reaction and I didn’t like it. I was with Ollie. I liked Ollie. So why did I get tingles at his close proximity earlier? The whole thing left me a little shaken so I decided to go down the best route possible, avoidance. I know it was stupid, but I wasn’t ready to meet this head on just yet.

“Are you having a good time?” Ollie yelled in my ear. The music was at an eardrum shattering level.

  “Yeah, are you?”

“I am with you.” His hand linked with mine and squeezed, and I couldn’t help but smile. I wanted to kiss him, but I didn’t think he was comfortable yet in a roomful of people. But to be fair, most of them were completely off their heads to notice. But I didn’t want to scare him so I kept my hands to myself. Well, until we were somewhere more private.

“I want another drink,” B shrieked, heading off to the kitchen, with Luke closely following her. I was glad he was around to deal with her. She could get quite nasty when she was intoxicated. She wasn’t a nice drunk that was for sure.

Ollie looked amused by her antics slowly sipping on his beer. I should have really intervened too, but this was my birthday, and I wanted to enjoy it, not babysit B as she sat with her head stuck in the toilet all night.

He dragged me off into a quiet corner, where we could hear better. He held my hand, and I grinned in delight at this small display of affection at how far we had come in such a small space of time. My lips longed to be on his, but he wasn’t drunk enough to let me. I wanted him though so I pulled him along smiling, but he ground to a halt.

“Where are you taking me?” he asked, looking amused.

“You’ll see. Now, come on, no more questions.”

We walked along, but we would not get any kind of privacy amongst the throng of people congregating in the flat. B would be in Luke’s room and as I pressed my ear against the other bedroom door, I could hear a murmur inside, which was no doubt a couple with the same intentions as mine. I chose my final option the bathroom. Not at all romantic, but it had a lock so we could get some privacy and that was all I needed right now.

I shoved Ollie and quickly snapped the door shut behind us, instantly locking us in. I didn’t give Ollie time to speak before my lips were firmly on his. He willingly obliged, moving them against mine, groaning when I pushed my tongue deeper into his mouth. I had been waiting to do that all night. A surge of electricity ran through me just feeling his mouth on mine. I wanted to stay here all night. The rest of the party could go to hell, as far as I was concerned being here with Ollie was all I needed.

Ollie eventually pulled away slightly, and I groaned at the loss of connection. “Wow,” he breathed, sounding slightly breathless. I wasn’t surprised I hadn’t held back with the kiss. I had attacked him with little warning but the urgency had been so strong I couldn’t have controlled myself if I had tried.

“Sorry, I got a little carried away, but I have wanted to do that since the moment you walked through the door.”

  “Really?” he asked surprised.

“Yeah, I couldn’t take it any more standing so close to you without being able to kiss you. I don’t think you know the power you have over me. I am well and truly under your spell,” I confessed. I had to tell him how I felt. He had to know.

“I don’t know what to say.”

“Well I hope you think that it’s a good thing.” I frowned, feeling underwhelmed by his response.

“Hey, of course it is. I meant in a ‘you’ve left me speechless way’.”

“Good speechless?” I asked, needing more convincing.

  “Oh definitely good speechless.”

“I want to kiss you again before we have to leave, it
’s going to be murder being so near to you yet not kissing you.”

“I’d like that.” His eyes bored deep into mine, and I could see a mixture of lust building inside. He wanted me just as equally and that made me smile even harder. He was fast becoming so much more to me, everyday my feelings deepened and with every kiss I was falling harder.

I pressed him up against the door and leisurely kissed my way towards his more than eager mouth. This time it was slow and gentle as I pressed my body up firmly against his. I could feel him begin to stir with my actions and that made me ecstatic to know I was evoking such feelings inside him. His hands moved up and threaded into my hair at the nape, and I sighed deeply loving the sensation as he tugged on my hair. It was the most erotic thing I felt as his fingers worked their way, eventually grazing against my scalp. I groaned deep not wanting to lose the sensation as my fingers gripped the fabric of the shirt tight, holding him in place.

We moved together so effortlessly. Our mouths devouring each other, each kiss got better every time. It was like our bodies were in tune with each other. This was the best present ever to have him here. It was what I had been searching for, and I knew as time went on we’d become so close we’d almost become one.

  “Ollie,” I moaned.

  “Hmmm,” was all he replied.

“I think we have to go.”

“Why?” he asked, pulling away looking confused.

“Because we’re kind of hogging the bathroom, and I’m pretty sure people will need to pee or be sick soon.”

I could almost count on it.

“Just one more minute please,” he pleaded and I sighed.

“We shouldn’t or we’ll never leave.”

“I just don’t want to go until we really have to.” Oh now he was giving me the eyes. It was all too much, but I had to be strong.

“I know, but if we continue then things will start to go farther.” He had to know that things were slowly getting out of control.

“Is that a bad thing?” he asked surprised.
