RAFE: A Buff Male Nanny (Loose Ends Book 1) Page 20

by Rebekah Weatherspoon

“Yeah, it was a thing.” Rafe reached over few inches and gave her leg a light squeeze over the covers. “Here’s a different thing I’m working on.”

  “Tell me.”

“Needing space and wanting to give space. When emotions are running high, no matter the cause.”

“Oh, yeah. That is tough. I wanted to climb up your ass all week, but I didn’t want to seem needy.”

“Is ass climbing a sign of neediness?”

“Yeah,” Sloan laughed. “It’s the number one symptom.”

“I’ll keep an eye out for it. I think I’m starting to love you a little bit, Dr. Copeland,” he said, finally feeling like he was telling the whole truth.

“I’m starting to love you a little bit too.” Rafe leaned up and pressed his lips to hers in a lingering kiss. When he pulled back, that light had returned to her eyes. The light he’d seen the first time he’d made her laugh. He knew then that they could do this.

“I’m glad you came back,” she said.

“I am too.” Rafe kissed her again. “Do you want an extra set of hands at the birthday party tomorrow?”

“No, but I would like my boyfriend there with me.”

“I think we can make that happen.”

“So, are you gonna stay there on the floor or do you want to get in this bed and cuddle me good?”

Rafe stood, moving Sloan’s computer and the flowers to the far nightstand. He stepped out of his jeans and climbed between the sheets with her. They hadn’t had the conversation about new sleeping arrangements yet, but for now Rafe knew he was exactly where he wanted to be.

  Epilogue

  Three years later…

  Sloan was gonna come. Again.

When Monica had said she and Joe wanted to take Addison and Avery for the weekend, Sloan completely rearranged her mental plan for the weekend. Priority number one, leave the seminar on heart disease, break the sound barrier getting home and snuggle her sweet baby boy. Rowan was almost four months old, but that didn’t stop Sloan from wanting to spend every minute getting high off that soft, new baby smell.

Priority number two, get her man between those sheets.

The last three years had gone by in a beautiful blur, especially after Drew realized his outburst had been caught on tape. The phone calls stopped and he finally agreed to Sloan’s new custody terms. Addison and Avery would only see him if they wanted to. For a few months, they were completely on board with never seeing Drew again. Between them, they decided their grandmother Susan was more than welcome to come to L.A. and visit whenever she liked, but checking in with Drew via FaceTime once a month was all the contact they wanted with their father. That suited Sloan just fine.

With Drew mostly out of her hair, she finally felt like she could focus on her relationship with Rafe without worrying about Drew trying to ruin things. Without his intrusions, things between them moved pretty fast. It was a little awkward at first, explaining to people the particulars of their relationship, but after two weeks, the girls sorted out the dilemma for them. Rafe was their mom’s boyfriend. The nanny bit was just a formality. Six months later, Rafe quit. The next morning, he proposed. Everything about it was perfect, including Addison and Avery’s reaction to finding out that Rafe was finally going to be their dad. Their stay-at-home dad.

And not that he needed to, but Sloan appreciated that Rafe talked to her whole family about his intentions. Told them how much he cared for her and her girls, and how ready he was to move on with their life together. Sloan couldn’t have been happier with the way her parents and her siblings welcomed him into their family. Rafe and her dad got along great. They texted each other all the time and she’d have to hand over the phone at least once a week so they could talk about sports and her dad’s sudden interest in Harleys.

She was just as happy with how Hope and Gracie were over the moon to call her their sister-in-law and how quickly Monica and Joe snapped into ideal grandparent mode. Joe and her dad had also become fast friends. It was kinda cute. More than anything though, Sloan loved to see just how happy Addison and Avery were. She finally felt like she’d assembled the right kind of village for them. New family, more friends. Everything felt right.

Monica had a full weekend at Disneyland planned for the girls and while Sloan would be eager to see them come Sunday night, for now, she enjoying her quiet house. Well, quiet beyond the sounds of pure pleasure that she couldn’t hold back.

“Babe,” she moaned, driving her head back into the pillow. Her eyes squeezed shut when she felt his lips travel up the column of her neck, his cock pumping in and out of her. They had all weekend and she’d meant for them to take it slow, but one brush of her hand against his denim-covered cock had flipped his switched. She was still half dressed when he pushed inside her wet, aching pussy. He’d been eager to get her alone too. They’d take it slow the next round.

“Come,” he groaned in her ear.

“Oh, babe. Please.” Her hands trailed over his back, careful not to touch his most recent piece, three stars low on his left shoulder—one for Addison, one for Avery and one for baby Rowan. He’d add to it if and when they decided to add to their family.

Rafe’s hand traveled down her thigh and hitched her knee up to her shoulder. That was all it took, the perfect angle for his perfect cock to stroke her in just the right way. Sloan came apart, her own desperate whimpers the only sound that she could hear. Rafe started moving faster, pumping into her throbbing pussy harder and harder, driving her body up the bed until she had to reach up and stop her head from hitting the headboard.

More tremors rolled through her. The intense pleasure started to subside. She wanted more. Sloan’s hand went to the back of Rafe’s neck and she pulled him down, sealing her lips to his as she started to ride him harder from underneath. He broke from their kiss, pressing his forehead to hers.

“Fuck, baby.” She felt it then, his cock kicking and twitching insider her, filling her up with his cum. Another orgasm rolled through her.

He moved off of her and collapsed in the sheets. Sloan’s eyes slowly opened when his hand slid over the map of stretch marks on her stomach. She rolled into him, pressing rough kisses to his shoulder.

“We’re gonna fuck around and have another baby,” he groaned.

“Oh, and I’m sure you’ll hate that.” Rafe wanted to act like he didn’t text literally everyone they knew I HAVE A SON minutes after Rowan was cleaned and given the skin-to-skin contact that Sloan had insisted upon. Rafe doted on Addison and Avery, but the man was a pure fool over his baby boy.

He lifted his head and shot Sloan a weak attempt at a disgusted look. “Dr. Copeland, I can’t help it if fatherhood looks good on me.”

Sloan laughed, then made a fart noise with her tongue. “Right. Can I tell you what I’m thinking right now?”

“You don’t know what you would do without my supreme lovemaking skills?”

“No, you ass. Though the dick is quality and I do appreciate it.”

Rafe leaned up and gave her a quick kiss on the lips. “Thanks, baby.”

“I wish we had a mini fridge up here so I could go ham on that leftover mac and cheese without getting out of bed.”

Before Rafe could weigh in on light appliances in the bedroom, a cry came over the baby monitor. Sloan grabbed the tablet off her nightstand and sure enough, Rowan was fussing in his crib. There was a split second where she thought he would settle down on his own, but he was just getting started. He cranked out a louder, more pitiful cry.

“Fuck yeah. My buddy’s up.” Rafe hopped off the bed and pulled on his boxers.

“Change him or bring him to me. I don’t want no fuckery in this dancery,” Sloan teased.

“Ohhh,” Rafe winced as he backed out of the room. “Sorry. He slept through a whole Brownie meeting like a champ yesterday. I told him he could stay up tonight and watch the game.”

Sloan rolled her eyes and then edged off the bed as her husband walked down the hall toward the nursery. She stepped
into the bathroom to bring herself all the way back down to Earth after three mind-blowing orgasms. She used the restroom and cleaned up, then changed into her pajamas just as Rafe came strolling into their bedroom, Rowan in his arms.

“Blew out that diaper, but I think we’re good now.” Sloan met them in the middle of the room and took Rowan from Rafe.

“Oh hello, my baby. Hello,” she cooed, before she looked back up at Rafe. “Babe.”

  “Babe.”

“Seventy-five cents if you’ll run downstairs and get me that mac and cheese. And one of those key lime bars.” Damn, her man could cook.

“I’ll settle for twenty-five cents and that thing you do with your thumb,” he countered.

  “Oooooh, deal.”

  “Hot or cold?”

  “Hmmm hot. Thank you.”

  “You got it.”

After Rafe disappeared down the hall, she sat on the bed with Rowan, rocking him back to sleep. She picked up her phone and checked her texts. Xeni’s aunt had recently passed away. Xeni just wanted to grieve, but speculation on the contents of her aunt’s will had her family at each other’s throats again.

She’d flown to upstate New York to scatter her aunt’s ashes by her favorite creek and to figure out what to do with her three thousand square foot Colonial. She’d been quiet in their group chat, but she’d been keeping Sloan updated in their own text chain. She’d been quiet most of the day, though. Sloan clicked on the “3” near Xeni’s name.

She almost fainted. She had to read the texts several times, but they still didn’t make sense and Sloan had no freaking clue how to respond. She lay Rowan down in the cradle of her crossed legs and looked even harder at the screen, like the words would magically rearrange themselves.

Rafe came strolling back into the room. “I think I’m ready for a dog,” he announced. In the back of her mind, Sloan could picture Rafe walking around the neighborhood, wearing Rowan in his chest carrier, the two of them being tugged down the street by some big, dopey mutt on a leash. She’d focus on how cute that vision was when she got to the bottom of her current mystery.

Rafe set down her food, then stroked her shoulder. “Hey, what’s up?”

  “Um, Xeni just texted me.”

“How’s she holding up? Is she still cleaning out her aunt’s place?”

“I—I think so. I—she got married today.”

  “What? To who?!”

  “Some Scottish guy named Mason.”

  LOOSE ENDS

Let’s talk about Loose Ends. What is this Loose Ends madness you’re talking about, lady?!?! you might say.

Well I’ll tell you, lovely reader. Over the years I’ve introduced a few supporting characters who deserve their very own happily ever after. While reading Rafe and Sloan’s love story you might have seen Meegan pop up. She’s in SATED, HAVEN and WRAPPED. Meegan deserves her own true love. As does Mason, Silas’s Scottish cousin from SANCTUARY.

And speaking of cousins, I think it would be great to finally catch up with Meegan’s cousin Duke Stone and his on and off again lady love, Daniella from the SO SWEET trilogy. It’ll take some time, but one by one, I will bring all these love birds together with the endings they need.

Up next is Mason and Sloan’s all-star bestie, Xeni. Get ready. It’s gonna be loads of fun!

  xoxo Rebekah
