“That’s it, my love,” Serkhet said, placing gentle kisses across the shell of Laney’s ear. His voice was strained from her tightness around his cock.

He slowly moved, rolling his hips to thrust his cock in and out, to allow Laney to adjust to his thick girth. Tarrick kissed his way up Laney’s stomach and across her breasts, teasing each nipple the same way he teased her clit.

“Please, I’m so close,” she cried out, panting.

Tarrick stopped teasing her nipples and placed the head of his rock-hard shaft at her entrance. Serkhet pushed himself all the way inside her ass and paused to wait on Tarrick. Laney let out a wanton moan that echoed through the room as Tarrick slipped inside Laney’s pussy and stopped halfway.

“Did I hurt you?” Tarrick asked, looking down at her with knitted brows.

“No, it just … it feels so amazing. Please, don’t stop,” she panted. “Both of you, don’t stop.” She felt so exquisitely full of both men, but it was still too good for words. Her breath hitched as Tarrick sheathed himself fully inside of her aching pussy.

Serkhet and Tarrick rocked their hips against Laney’s body in tandem; Serkhet thrust himself in as Tarrick pulled himself out, who then thrusted in as Serkhet pulled out. They kept up a steady pace of just fucking her slow and easy, which was driving Laney crazy. Her breath had become shallow as they had built up so much friction that she felt like she was on the verge of bursting.

She was right on the edge but couldn’t quite catch that wave she desired. She needed them to pick up the pace, to really fuck her fast and hard.

“Faster, please, my god I’m right there,” Laney whimpered softly, barely loud enough to hear.

“Give it to us, love,” Serkhet whispered, voice tight in her ear. “Come for us.” Both he and Tarrick picked up their pace, hips slapping against her body, and it was all Laney needed. She grabbed a hold of Tarrick’s shoulders and dug her nails in deep, hips rolling with the ecstatic waves that crashed through her core.

Laney’s walls clamped onto Tarrick with the shudders of her orgasm, causing him to push himself into her harder. With three more forceful thrusts, he found his release once more. Tarrick threw his head back and groaned long and low as he poured his seed deep inside her.

Serkhet thrusted a few more times, forcing hot little whines of oversensitivity from Laney. His breath had gone shallow and quick, and with one final push into her tightness he let out a guttural moan from deep in his chest, his cock pulsing forcefully as he, too, reached his climax.

Tarrick slowly pulled himself out of her and got back into the water, wading out and dipping his head under to cool off. Serkhet kissed Laney’s neck gently as he pulled his semi-flaccid cock out of her. It wouldn’t take too long for him to be ready to go again, requiring more essence as the day turned into night, but after glancing down at Laney, he noticed her eyes were drooping heavily. Her lips twitched up in a tired smile before she allowed the release of sleep to overcome her.

He frowned as he turned her to face him, wrapping his arms around her. Her sleepiness must be a side effect from him sapping her energy; her life essence. He was fortunate to have Tarrick here so that he could take from them both without there being too much of a danger if he had taken more than his fill from Laney. His heart thumped at the thought of losing her, as she was quickly growing on him. From the moment he first laid eyes on her, he felt a connection. The thought of her going back to where ever she was from, never getting to hold her in his arms again … he wasn’t sure there were enough people on earth to fill the void she would leave in his heart.

He mindlessly stared at the cave’s ceiling as she slept. There was that nagging feeling in the back of his mind, telling him that he would have to let her go. His heart selfishly ached at the thought. Perhaps he could teach her to read hieroglyphs, teach him more about his history, give her something to remember him by, but living here with him in this cave was no life for her. She was young, so young. She had a full life ahead of her, and he wanted to be at least a part of it. If only he could leave the cave.

  Chapter Six

Laney woke up lying on her side, sunlight from the balcony streaming in through the window to land on her face. Drowsily, she noticed that she was still wearing the t-shirt and cargo shorts that she had worn yesterday. After blinking and yawning away the remnants of sleep from her bones, she frowned. How had she gotten here again? She didn’t want to wake up in her hotel room — she had wanted to be with Serkhet, in his cave since he couldn’t leave. Serkhet must have had Tarrick bring her back — and at that thought, a smile crept over her face. Her memories were intact. Serkhet hadn’t erased them like he had after their first encounter.

Her body ached, but it made her smile. She didn’t mind it. It was a good ache, the kind after hours of endless pleasure spent with another person.

Deep down, she had this feeling, a longing to be with Serkhet. Touring Egypt didn’t sound interesting to her any more. She wanted to return to Serkhet’s tomb, where he was allowed to be. She was scheduled to go home soon, and it had certainly been an experience. She wanted to spend the rest of her time here with a man that had awakened her mind and had done many things to her body that had her blushing as she remembered each and every moment of it.

Laney sat up and reached her hands out, fingertips sliding across the silk bedsheets. Suddenly, she felt something warm and solid and — that was definitely a person lying next to her. A familiar form, with his backside facing toward her. His breath was slow and easy, indicating he was still in the depths of sleep. She had come to love running her hands down that gorgeous sun-kissed back and enjoyed gripping onto those sculpted shoulders. She wanted to pinch herself as she wasn’t believing what she was seeing.

“Serkhet? Wha—,” she cut herself off in her haste to ask as many questions as she could. “How are you here?”

She couldn’t wait for him to fully wake up, she was too excited to learn how he had managed to leave his tomb.

Startled awake by her outburst, he slowly shuffled to face her. A smile crept over his face as he gained awareness. “Hello, my love.”

“Good morning.” With her excitement, she rushed through her greeting. “How did you get out of your prison?”

Serkhet chuckled, stretching languidly out on the bed. “I’ll explain in a moment, allow me to wake up first.” He chided, propping himself up on one elbow to talk to her.

Laney sighed, deciding to accept this delay. “I woke up thinking about you.” Something giddy slipped into her voice without her permission.

  “You did?” His smile widened.

“Yes. I was hoping to ask Tarrick if he could take me back to see you.”

“Well, I guess that’s irrelevant now.” Serkhet sat up fully and entwined his hand with Laney’s. “I’m right where I want to be ... with you.”

A blush warmed her cheeks at his affectionate murmurings. “I thought it wasn’t possible for you to leave there.”

“The sorcerer told me that I could not love and that it would never be within my capabilities. Maybe I … we have broken my curse. When I had Tarrick take you back to your hotel the first time, I had a moment of regret. I didn’t want you to leave, but I also didn’t want you to see me in my true form. But after the second time with you, when you came back to me, my heart truly hurt to see you leave my sight. I didn’t take away your memories of me, hoping that you would come back to me again as you had the first time.” Serkhet paused for a moment, sighing with a crease in his brow.

“For years, I had tried leaving. I could not pass over the threshold that marks the barrier of my tomb, but last night I did. I watched Tarrick leave with you. It wasn’t until several hours after you left that I talked myself into giving it another try. Finally, after all these centuries, I was able to cross the threshold. I can’t begin to tell you how happy I am that I was able to leave that place, my prison.”

Serkhet gently took Laney’s hands in his. “Perhaps the gods have blessed me wi
th a new life. Though, I only wish to live it if you were by my side?” His voice turned up with hope.

Laney’s eyes went wide, and her heart fluttered. “Yes, I would love that.”

“And maybe someday … you’d agree to be my wife?”

The question caught her off guard. This god, this incredible man that lay next to her wanted to be with her in marriage someday. Her eyes went wide, and her jaw dropped, but it grew into a smile. “Yes, I think we could do that someday.”

Serkhet closed the distance between them, pulling their bodies close together, pressing his lips to hers. He rolled them over, supporting his weight with those strong arms and effectively caging her in. It was impossible to her to not reach out and run her hands over the tight chords of muscles. “It has taken me thousands of years to find you my love. I don’t plan on letting you go.”

“I don’t plan on leaving you either.” Laney wrapped her arms around him, pulling Serkhet closer and kissing him feverishly. She could feel his plumping sex throb against her stomach, and she smiled. It was still unbelievable to her that such a man with all these abilities and magic running through his veins, who could have any person he wanted with his beautiful presence has quite an insatiable appetite for her.

  “That I do,” he purred.

A flush spread over her skin as she realized that he could still read her thoughts. She felt a throbbing ache began to stir between her legs as she wondered just how much of her thoughts he could read.

“That much of me hasn’t changed, my love,” he said as he slid his fingertips under her shirt, hot on her skin. Serkhet’s dark-rimmed eyes turned upward, and his lips curved up in a smirk of mirth.

Laney was grateful that she didn’t back out from fear or nerves when Tarrick had invited her and her friends to seek out the cursed treasure. She hadn’t wanted to take any of the gold or jewels, but it turned out okay. However, Laney did end up taking the greatest treasure from the depths of that tomb.

  Part of Chapter One

The flight from Egypt was blissfully uneventful. Laney made sure to go over everything that was going to happen with Serkhet long before they boarded the plane, so there were no surprises. It was going to take a long time for him to fully adjust to the 21st century. As the plane flew over the Pacific, the two shared glasses of champagne to celebrate their new relationship. Laney couldn’t help smiling at Serkhet’s expression toward flying in a plane. The mere thought of even flying in the sky was nothing short of awe-inspiring.

Once they landed in California, it was just a taxi ride from the airport back to Laney’s apartment. She was relieved to be getting back home, after the wildest adventure of her life. Her place was modest, but at least it was her own space. Though, things were probably going to have to change with the arrival of Serkhet.

Tarrick had stayed in Egypt, after Serkhet relieved him of his duties as his servant. Now that Serkhet was free of his prison and the full extent of his magic readily available, he no longer required Tarrick’s service to bring unsuspecting people into his tomb for energy. He and Laney could be together whenever they desired, giving Serkhet the life energy he required.

When Laney returned to her classes after spring break, she doubled down on her studies to finish the semester as strongly as she had started it. She felt comfortable leaving Serkhet alone after a few days of reacclimating him to the basics of human interaction so he wouldn’t raise any questions when he engaged in social situations. His confidence in leaving the apartment grew more and more each day, as he would excitedly tell her about the conversations he would have in the coffee shops and grocery stores when she returned from campus. Each of his outings gained length and distance with his growing competence.

Naturally, they fell into a routine in their relationship as well. Every day, Laney woke to her alarm with strong arms enveloping her from behind. She’d groan something sleepily, shuffle around to face Serkhet, and kiss him lazily. Some mornings, she’d get right up after that morning kiss and get ready for her classes. Others, she would press snooze and allow Serkhet’s hand to absentmindedly wander between her legs.

She never knew being so close to someone could be this easy, this wonderful. Building their life together meant so much to her, she was unlikely to ever let it go.

Several months flew by as each of them progressed in their respective tasks. Inspired by her time in Egypt and her relationship with Serkhet, Laney changed her major halfway through her junior year. And before she knew it, Laney was walking across the stage at graduation to receive her bachelor’s degree in Archaeology. Her friends — and of course, Serkhet — watched with pride as she accepted her certification of many years of hard work. She only wished that her parents were still alive to watch her cross the stage.

That night, Laney met her Uncle Tom for a celebratory dinner at one of the local restaurants she could never afford if he wasn’t treating. After he had called and made the plans a few weeks ago, she’d had a few minutes of internal debate before deciding to just go for it and let him know about her new boyfriend. She mentioned him nervously, unsure of how he would react, but her uncle insisted on inviting Serkhet to their celebration to meet him.

Serkhet was as charming as ever, and treated Laney with the same adoration he did every day — though without the obvious sensual comments whispered into her ear that made her blush. Laney pasted a smile on her face but felt nervous underneath her façade. Tom took Laney in after her parent’s tragic car accident when she was a little girl. Though he was married to his work in archaeology, he was overprotective of Laney.

Her uncle aimed the typical barrage of questions Serkhet’s way, which he handled with practiced ease. After all, Serkhet was no stranger to bending his truth to make his story more aligned with society’s norms now. Eventually, her uncle tired of the interrogation and seemed to relax with approval. Laney couldn’t seem to get rid of the smile on her face after that. Surrounded by the people that she loved most and receiving the same in return, everything was going well for Laney and Serkhet.

They finished dinner and Laney bade her uncle a long goodbye. He was flying back to New York that night, unable to stay any longer without missing work.

She missed her parents awfully but seeing her uncle and receiving his blessing on dating Serkhet was enough to bring her a joyous night.

After they exited the restaurant, she started to walk in the direction of their apartment before Serkhet stopped her.

“Let’s walk a little before the sun sets, hm? I have a bit of a graduation present for you.” He gave his charming half smile while she agreed easily.

Laney thought that they were wandering aimlessly through the streets of the city, but Serkhet guided her off the sidewalk and into the local wooded park. The scene was beautiful, with the silhouettes of the trees black against the orange and purple of the dusk sky.

  The park was deserted
, given the setting sun. Laney let herself be guided to a small alcove set into the brick wall separating the higher level of the sloped grass from the lower level. There was dark ivy crawling up the brick, contrasting nicely. Fresh flowers and blossoms scented the spring air, letting her breathe in the new life that surrounded her. It was a beautiful place, but she wasn’t sure why she’d been guided there specifically. Serkhet turned and grasped her hands in his, facing her with a light smile on his face.

“I am so grateful to you, Laney. You have no idea the gratitude I feel for our story. I am no longer resentful for my curse, because without it, I would have never met you.” His voice grew softer with his appreciation and genuine adoration. The curl of his lips was soft, almost wistful. Laney flicked her eyes back up to meet his gaze. “Now that we’ve been together for even this short time, all my previous endeavors pale in comparison to the moments I wake up and see you lying next to me.” His fingers came up to gently lift the pendant resting upon her sternum. It was a gift, a gorgeous red jewel embedded with protective magic. He’d insisted on her wearing it for her own safety. She had never taken it off since he put it on her.

A smile curled her lips upward without her permission. Hearing how her adoration of him had helped him so much provided such a sense of validation.

“My only hope is that I can spend the rest of my life showing you how much I appreciate you.” His hand reached into his pocket. “And I also hope that I know what I’m doing. I know I’ve already asked you this, but after carefully studying your customs, I found that I needed to do this correctly.”

Quickly, almost in a blur, he dropped to one knee and presented Laney with a small black velvet box. He carefully opened it, reveling a golden ring with a large sparkling diamond in its center, with two smaller diamonds; one on each side of the larger one. There wasn’t enough time to process what was happening before she noticed that he was looking up at her with a genuinely happy smile.
