Getting Lost Page 23

by Michelle Grubb

Stella sensed someone at the door, watching, so she emerged from under the deep bath water to find Phoebe staring at her.

“I’m finally free, Stella, and I have a son.”

Stella was reluctant to be the voice of reason, but she had to say something. “You don’t think Oscar will renege do you?”

“Something tells me he won’t. Grief can do strange things to you. I don’t know if he’s the conniving bastard I always thought him to be.” She shrugged. “I wish he and Rebecca had given each other a chance.”

The day’s events had finally caught up with Phoebe, and the sheer expression of relief was evident in her radiant smile.

“Come join me.” Stella had finally made it into the bath. Her muscles both rejoiced and complained about the heat, but in no time at all, they relaxed and tingled with the joy of weightlessness.

Without protest, Phoebe removed the hotel robe and slipped into the water, facing Stella. “I’m so tired. I feel like I could sleep for a year.” She closed her eyes.

Stella took her trembling hands. “It’s finally over, baby.”

“My son is a nice little boy,” said Phoebe.

“Just like his mum.” Stella leaned forward and kissed Phoebe. “I’m so proud of you.”

They soaked in the bath, relaxing in silence until Stella said, “Have you got enough energy to take me to bed and show me how you intend to keep me happy?” She slid her hand down between Phoebe’s thighs.

Phoebe reacted to her touch, tenderly massaging Stella’s breasts. “I think if I pace myself—go nice and slow—I should be able to keep my energy levels up.”

Stella moaned as the pressure on her aching nipples hardwired itself to her centre, sending the early stages of her orgasm directly to her clitoris. “I’m exhausted. I think I’ll be a cheap shout tonight.” Stella knew it wasn’t exhaustion that made her come so easily.

“That’s funny,” Phoebe said softly. “I’ve never noticed you to be anything but a cheap shout.”

Stella pinched Phoebe’s inner thigh in protest.

“Ouch! You can’t come if I won’t let you.”

“And why would you want to do that to me?” Stella writhed as Phoebe’s hand circled lower.

“Because you’re sexy when you beg.”

  “Then I won’t utter a word. That’ll fix you.”

“It’s not your words that get to me. You beg me with your eyes, darling.” Phoebe sucked Stella’s neck. “And I never want to stop seeing that desire.”

Stella couldn’t take it any longer. She hauled them both from the bath. “I want you inside me.”

“That’s the best offer I’ve had all day.”

  She winked at Phoebe.

A whirlwind tour of Europe in less than a month wasn’t long enough for many things—building a house, reading Tolstoy, writing a novel, or becoming a nun, but it was long enough for Stella to fall in love.

  About the Author

Michelle is Tasmanian born and now resides in the UK, just north of London. She relishes outdoor and travel adventures with her wife, writes by the seat of her pants, and often lives life by the same philosophy.

She believes that life is about opportunities: You choose to take them or you don’t. Someone far more famous than her once said, “If you always do what you’ve always done, you will always get what you’ve always got.” Motivated by this, Michelle likes to explore opportunities that come her way.

The urge to write seemingly stalked Michelle until she finally succumbed in her mid-thirties. Surprise was her initial reaction, but now the author title inspires her on a daily basis.

Getting Lost is her debut novel. Go on, seize the opportunity and get lost! You never know what you might find.
