by Cook, M. L.
Wyatt was tall, dark, and quiet. He shared his cousin’s intellect, but unlike Aquino, he was quick to point it out.
She knew there was something special about Aquino. To say he was humble was putting it mildly. The number of achievements to Aquino’s name was staggering. He’d told her he was a communications specialist. Not that he was the communications specialist. It was a title that was held by only one. He was the one they reported to. There was no one above him, other than the commanders of the ships.
Wyatt was quick and deadly. He was second to the commander of this ship. Thinking about the surprised expression on the male’s face when Wyatt shot him still amused her. Which was another thing Wyatt got. Most people would be horrified by her laughing over the death of another, but not Wyatt. No, he just winked and grinned.
Turning around, she passed her companions. While striding toward the command center, she enquired, “Wyatt, do we have enough to fly this thing back to Terropia?”
“Absolutely, Commander.”
Jannette swiped a hand down her face, shook her head and groaned. The man had a vast number of nicknames for her. There was not a single one that didn’t piss her off. And he knew it.

The world around him was beginning to come into focus. He groaned when he felt himself being dragged through a shallow pothole. There wasn’t a spot on him that didn’t hurt. Cracking a swollen eye open, he attempted to assess the situation. Instead of seeing the Terrapian warriors he expected, he was shocked to see two small hands fisting the thin blanket that he rested on.
The one on his right glanced back, then muttered something to his companion. His feet painfully dropped to the hard pavement as they released the blanket.
The young female, who was obviously their leader, walked a wide path around the dirty blanket then leaned over. With her hands on her knees, she asked, “Are you going to hurt us?”
When he shook his head, she smiled, then said, “My name’s Hope. My friend’s name is Jesse. Who are you?”
Blinking up at the young pair, he said, “My name’s Aquino. Where are you taking me?”
Note from the Author
Thank you for reading Relentless Pursuit. It certainly took me on a roller coaster of emotions! So, were you surprised at what happened to Jannette? Yeah, me too. How about Aquino? Wow, right?
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, these characters write their own stories! You should be glad, too! The original plan was to kill Aquino off. But things took a completely different turn.
I would appreciate it if you would take a moment to leave a short review. That’s the only way for me to know if you loved or hated my book. I’m really hoping you loved it, though.

I have many more books planned out. You’ll certainly find out more about Ashley and Paige. Not to mention the missing Doctor Natalie.
Which book is next? Well, I know I’ve promised a book every quarter, but I might just have to make an exception. After all, Christmas is coming!
If you liked it, be sure to check out my other books.
About M.L. (Mary) Cook:
Mary Cook is a pale lavender druid that lives in a small-town right outside a ring of fire, just on the other side of…no wait, that’s a different character.
Actually retired, with hours and hours to write the next great novel, oh wait…nope that’s me. Yes, totally retired. Worlds come alive in my head, characters stand over my shoulder, and sometimes they wake me up at night. All of them want to come alive, to have their stories written. No matter how I think the story should go, it goes according to how the character decides it should. An evil character finds redemption, while the beloved is massacred for no good reason. They all write their own stories.
The ideas come to me, the character develops a personality, and the result is a book. I sincerely hope that everybody will love my books, but what I write isn’t for everyone, and that’s okay. (Is it Mary? You sure you don’t want me to take care of it?) (Get back in the book, Ann!)
I love to write stories that make you think and maybe make you a little uncomfortable. However, in real life, I’m actually a pretty boring person. Retired, live in a dungeon (my office), with a big black dog named Travino. Every now and then my family expects me to come out and interact with the world, and I do (begrudgingly). Writing is my hobby, I used to do other things with my hands, crochet, knit…but then I got old(er), and they just don’t work as good as they used to.
On a more personal note, I do have children. I have three grown children, and lots and lots of grandchildren, with a few great-grandchildren. It’s like they’re in a competition on who can produce the most. If any of you read the back of the book, The Mists of Stone Lake, you know there’s more. But, outside of that, nothing. Boring. So, I bring life and color into the world through the pages of my books. Every time someone buys a book, or gives a review, I’m delightfully surprised. My eternal gratitude to all of you, for reading what I have written, and allowing me to become a small part of your life.
In spite of the advice, I’ve gotten from many successful authors, I’ve not chosen to write in only one genre. I write the ideas that come to me. Sometimes they may be light and whimsical, while at others they may give you nightmares. The words refuse to be denied. I put them on paper. What you do with them is up to you.
