“Damn, LaNiece! Slow your ass down. You know CHP stay pulling people over on this freeway,” I tried to shout over the music.
“Huh? What you say? Go faster?” she shouted back as she pushed down harder on the gas and laughed.
“Damn it, LaLa! Stop fucking playing! If you wanna die, do that shit on your own time.” I was freaking pissed now. She knows I hate that Vin Diesel, Fast and Furious shit. I’ve never been in an accident before, and I wasn’t trying to be in one now. I should’ve gone with my first mind and drove my own car. But no, LaLa just had to show off her new whip.
“Stop crying, Jay. I was just playing,” she said as she started to slow down. “Did you get a hold of Jerome?”
I shook my head no and continued staring out of the window. I was still pissed at her for playing with my life like that. She knew it too. That’s why she turned the music back up, then picked up her phone and started texting.
“You have gots to be fucking kidding me!” I said turning the music back down.
“What?”
“As if driving over 90 mph wasn’t a danger to my life, you switch to texting?”
She rolled her eyes. “What the fuck, JaNair? You wanted me to slow down, and I did. Now that I’m answering a few text messages, it’s a problem? You’re not the only one with a life around here!”
“And what the hell does that mean?”
She shook her head. “Nothing.”
“Naw, sweetie! Don’t go mute now. What the hell did you mean?” I said as I turned in my seat to face her.
“JaNair, you’re my best friend, and I love you. But you act like you’re the only one with a life. Like the world revolves around you and only you. Yeah, you got two of the finest niggas hounding your ass, but that doesn’t mean shit. When was the last time you asked me about my love life or who I got hounding me?”
I didn’t know where any of this was coming from. Hell, we were just joking and talking about her newest boo before she started driving all crazy and shit. To my knowledge, we talked about everything. Whether it’s her life, my life, or some shit we did together.
“First off, LaNiece, I apologize if I ever made it seem as if your life doesn’t matter to me. As you just said, you are my best friend, and I love you too, and I wanna know about any and everything that goes on in your world. With that being said, who are you texting over there that has you cheesing so hard?”
She smiled. “The nigga I was just telling you about while we were getting ready at your house.”
“Oh yeah! You feeling him like that, huh? Is he hubby status?”
“Yeah, he is.” She sighed. “There’s a problem, though.”
“And what’s that?”
“He has a girlfriend already.”
I didn’t even respond to what she said. I just looked at her as she tried to text and keep her eyes on the road at the same time. I wanted to ask her so bad how can he be hubby status if he already has a girl? But with the way she just came at me, I didn’t want her to start saying that I was hating now. Instead of harping on the fact that the nigga she was really feeling had a girl, I asked the one question that she shouldn’t have a problem with me asking.
“So what’s his name?”
She kept smiling and texting on her phone as if she didn’t hear me. When I asked her again, she mumbled something under her breath.
“Wait, what did you say?” I asked after the second time of not understanding what she said.
“I said wouldn’t you like—”
But before she could finish what she was saying, her answer was cut short . . . when we slammed into the back of a car that suddenly stopped in the middle of the freeway. The last thing I saw before total blackness took over was LaLa’s head hit the steering wheel and a lot of blood gush out.

So far, operation Take Down Jerome was live and in full effect. I wasn’t going to abort this mission for nothing in the world. Not even family.
I knew that once he saw me in the black catsuit I found at H&M that I’d have his undivided attention. The thing fit my body like a glove. The push-up bra I got from Victoria’s Secret had my perky C cups looking nice and ripe for the picking. The butt pad I had on gave me a little lift in the ass department and had me filling out the suit just right. My jet-black hair was in big spiral curls that framed my cute little round face. Thigh-high come fuck me boots set my whole outfit off. All eyes were on me as soon as I walked in, so I knew Jerome’s eyes wouldn’t be too far behind.
“Can we go sit back down now? My feet are starting to hurt!” Niecey whined from somewhere behind me. I was so caught up in eye fucking Jerome, I’d actually forgotten she was even there.
I don’t even know why I brought her with me anyways. She’s been acting real salty since I told her about my plan to fuck Jerome.
“Are you really going to try to sleep with him?” she asked me as we walked through the mall looking for outfits to wear tonight.
“Hell, yeah! Have you seen that nigga?”
“Yeah, I’ve seen him. LaLa showed me a picture of her, Jay, him, and some other dude all out together. From what La says, JaNair really likes this dude.”
“And?” I asked as we walked into Forever 21.
“And you don’t feel bad? Including my cousin, you’ve slept with . . . like five of her dudes. You don’t get tired of fucking her sloppy seconds?”
“If I didn’t know you any better, ShaNiece, I would think that you were hating. You mad or something? What? Do you wanna fuck Jerome too? Hell, go right on ahead, honey. I mean, if you really wanna know, I wouldn’t care if you were. That’s still not gonna stop me from sampling a taste of his sexy ass. You fucking him first or him being my cousin’s man, any way it goes . . . I don’t care,” I said with a shrug of my shoulders.
I looked up at Niecey who had suddenly become mute. The look she had on her face was a mixture between hate and disgust. I laughed inwardly to myself because this is one of the reasons why I don’t have too many female friends.
Bitches kill me. It was okay for me to have sex with JaNair’s man when he was your cousin and you were helping me sneak around with him. But now you want to question me about a nigga you not even related to?
We didn’t stay in the mall too much longer after that conversation. After we stopped and got a couple of snacks from Wetzel’s Pretzels, we headed out to our cars and went our separate ways.
Still facing the direction that Jerome had just walked off in, I didn’t even respond to her question. Hell, if your feet hurt, go sit your ass down. What do you need my permission for?
I caught another glimpse of Jerome across the lounge. He was smiling and talking to some chick who had just stepped in front of him. She was cute and from what I could see, had a nice little body, but I wasn’t worried about her or any other bitch for that matter.
After watching the two disappear behind the double doors, I turned my attention toward a frowning Niecey. She didn’t even notice that I was facing her until I cleared my throat. The daggers she was shooting at the double doors on the other side of the room had me thinking of the conversation we had at the mall.
“You didn’t have to follow me over here, Niecey. You could’ve stayed at the table,” I told her. When I looked over at our recently vacated seats, I noticed the dudes who were buying us drinks earlier had returned.
“Heckle and Jeckle are back.” I tilted my head in their direction. “Go back over there and keep them company until I get back. Make sure you get me another apple juice and Rémy while you’re at it too.”
She twisted up her lips. “Bitch, please! What I look like going over there by myself to order your ass a drink?”
“Don’t you need another glass of wine yourself?” I was on the verge of going off on her ass. She knew how we got down when we went out. All of a sudden she on some other shit.
“I do want another glass, but I don’t need them niggas to get it! Unlike you, my dear best friend, I have a job, so I can buy
my own drink.”
Niecey had me all the way fucked up. Just because I wanted the next motherfucka to buy me a drink didn’t mean that I couldn’t buy one for myself. Hell, if I really wanted to, I could buy me, her, and them rounds for the whole night. I had some change in my clutch. Her sprung-ass cousin hit me off with a stack before we came out tonight. She didn’t need to know that, though.
I had just sipped the last drop of drink I had in my cup when I felt something vibrating next to my arm. At first glance, I thought I’d mistakenly left my phone on top of the bar, but when a picture of JaNair popped up, with wifey flashing across the screen, I knew I hadn’t.
“What the hell you smiling like that for?”
“Honey, my night just went from good to great.” I showed her what I had just found. “Mr. Jerome left his phone.”
“Soooo . . . what? You’re going to call JaNair and pretend to be the other woman?”
“Hell, naw! I know it’s only going to be a matter of time before he comes back over this way retracing his steps, looking for it. When he heads back to his office, I won’t be too far behind. I’ma wait for a minute or two, then knock on the door and act as if I found his phone on the floor somewhere. Once I get in and close the door, I’ma work my magic and have him balls deep in this pussy before last call.”
Niecey had this smug look on her face, and I didn’t know why. It seemed like she low key had an attitude or something. It was weird. If I didn’t know any better, I’d think that she was . . . Naw, it can’t be that. Niecey isn’t Jerome’s type at all. A man like him was attracted to women that looked like me or JaNair. That natural beauty. He didn’t even acknowledge her ass earlier, and she was right behind me. I’m going to ask her ass about that shit later. Right now, I had other things to worry about, like putting my plan into action. Jerome’s fine ass was on his way over here, and by the way he was looking around and checking his pockets, I knew he’d lost something.
JaNair
“Baby, please!” I whined as he peppered light kisses down my smooth stomach.
He looked up at me with those sexy hooded eyes that I couldn’t get enough of. The smirk on his face was a sure telltale sign that I was going to be begging for a lot more. Without even acknowledging my plea from earlier, he continued to blaze a trail of kisses down my body stopping at the gem buried between my thighs.
“Mmmm,” he moaned softly as he nuzzled his nose between my slick folds. “You even smell like peaches down here. I wonder if you taste like them too.”
I looked at him with eyes that mirrored his own and bit down on my bottom lip.
“There’s only one way to find out” was all I said as I opened my legs a little wider, giving him full access to what he inquired about.
He gave me the sexiest lopsided grin before he took a deep breath and inhaled my scent for the third time. Lowering his head, he lightly brushed his mouth across my lips and kissed each one. Goose bumps tickled my whole body when the tip of his cool tongue found my throbbing clit.
“Shit!” I hissed after he lightly tugged on my pearl and pulled it into his mouth. A light coat of my juices sprayed his chin as if I were marking my territory.
The way he was eating my pussy was like something I’ve never experienced before. Within a matter of two minutes, I was on the verge of coming again. I tried to move away from his devouring session, but he locked his arms around my legs. When I tried to move his face from in between my thighs, he loosened his grip for a minute and swatted my hand away.
“Stop fighting me, JaNair. You’re only making it worse for yourself when you do that,” he said with my clit still in his mouth. I could feel his lips curling into a smile as he pressed his face back into his meal.
“Fuck, baby, what are you trying to do to me?” I hoarsely said between moans.
After ignoring me yet again, he gently pecked my clit and whispered that he’d see her later. As his face effortlessly glided its way back up my body, his fingers took turns diving into my wetness.
“You’re so fucking hot,” he whispered into my ear, giving me those goose bumps again. “My tongue fell in love with your taste. I can’t wait for my dick to become infatuated with your feel.”
He rubbed our cheeks against each other before placing feathered kisses all over my face. Once our lips connected, it seemed as if a magnetic pull drew us even closer to each other, deepening our kiss. Before I could even try to wrap my mind around what had just happened, he pushed himself into my slick opening.
“Ahhhhhhhhh!” I screamed out as he tried to bury himself deeper into me. My body froze and went stiff as a board. I tried to move my head but couldn’t. When I tried to push him off of me, I couldn’t. My arms felt as if they had thousand-pound weights tied to each one.
He looked at me with a shocked expression on his face. “Are you OK, JaNair?” he asked.
I tried to answer him, but I couldn’t. Tears started rolling down my face.
“JaNair . . . baby . . . Are you all right? Tell me what’s wrong,” he asked again. This time I could hear the panic in his voice as he pulled out of me and turned on the bright-ass lights.
“JaNair!” he screamed, but I still couldn’t respond. I felt my eyes roll to the back of my head as my body started to shake uncontrollably.
“She’s seizing!” I heard a loud, high-pitched voice scream.
I opened my eyes when I heard it and was immediately blinded by the bright lights. When a few unfamiliar faces came into view, I tried to speak, but I couldn’t. It felt as if my tongue was lodged into the back of my throat.
“Her blood pressure is 160/80 and steadily climbing!” the same voice shouted a few minutes later.
Fear instantly started to take over my body as so many people moved around me quickly. Questions I couldn’t seem to ask them started to swarm around in my head like mad honeybees. Where the hell am I? Who are all these people? How did I end up here? And last but not least, what the hell happened to Semaj?
The slightly wrinkled Caucasian face of some woman appeared in my line of sight. The white coat she had on was as white as the walls around the room. She took a little flashlight out of her pocket and flashed it into both of my eyes. Next, she put what looked like headphones in her ears and some cold silver thing on my chest. When she was finished with that, she took the clipboard from the woman behind her and started flipping through the papers.
“Ms. Livingston, I know you can’t move any limbs right now or talk, so what I need for you to do is move your eyes up and down if the answers to my questions are yes, then left to right if the answers are no. Do you understand?”
Up and down.
“Is your name JaNair Livingston?”
. . . Up and down.
“Are you twenty-five years old?”
. . . Up and down.
“Do you have any recollection of what happened to you tonight?”
. . . Left to right.
She touched the bottom of my foot with something, then asked, “Can you feel when I do this?”
. . . Up and down.
“How about this?” she asked as she moved whatever she had up my leg.
. . . Up and down.
She turned back to the woman behind her who smiled at me. After they discussed something I couldn’t quite hear, the older woman said that she’d be right back and excused herself.
“She’s going to check on your friend.” I just stared at the brown-skinned woman who was now in my face. I had to close my eyes every ten seconds, because the crazy Mickey Mouse design on her top was making me dizzy. I wanted to ask her what friend she was talking about. As if reading my mind, she spoke.
“You know, Ms. Livingston, you are pretty lucky. The way your friend crashed into the back of that diesel truck . . .” She shook her head. “God is definitely good!”
Crash . . . Diesel truck . . . Friend? I lay there and thought about what she had just said to me for a few moments. Did Semaj and I just get into a car accident? Naw, that could
n’t have happened, we were just in his bedroom. Then like a ton of bricks, it finally hit me.
I was in the car with LaLa!

Uggggh! Jerome’s constantly vibrating phone was working on my last nerve.
“Isn’t that like the twentieth time JaNair has called his phone?” Niecey asked. “It might be important. You should probably answer it.”
I sucked my teeth. “Niecey, you sound dumb as hell.” Rolling my eyes, I continued. “Obviously, JaNair’s insecure ass is on one. Jerome not answering his phone is making her think he’s doing all kinds of things other than working, especially with me ignoring the last few calls she made.”
“Maybe you should just give him his phone back, Mya.” Her eyes shifted around the bar. “JaNair hasn’t been the only one calling him either. Those other calls may be important to him.”
For someone who didn’t have any interest in Jerome, she sure was concerned about his phone. When he came over here earlier and asked if we’d seen his lost phone, I lied and told him no. He searched around for a bit, then finally turned on his heel and headed toward the kitchen area. As soon as he started walking down the hallway where the restrooms were, I was going to put my plan into action.
“That white boy know he fine as hell!” Niecey whispered in my ear as the tall, tanned, and boyishly handsome man I’d seen earlier with Jerome walked by.
The Clive Christian No. 1 cologne he had on invaded its way into my nostrils. A flutter of goose bumps trailed my arms as the intoxicating smell occupied my personal space. Good God, he smells good, I thought to myself as I tried to calm my throbbing pussy down.
“Don’t tell me you want him too?” I heard Niecey say just before she gulped down the rest of her drink.
What the hell was her problem? My inner bitch was about to come out on her ass, and it was not going to be pretty. She’d been sneak dissing and saying smart remarks all night, and I was tired of that shit. Right before I was about to let her ass have it, I saw Jerome head down the hallway and toward the offices.
