A Hope and a Chance Page 31

“I don’t say that,” she corrected.

“Yes you do.” I said as I ran my hand through her hair that was coming out of the bun.

  She started giggling again. “Whatever.”

I was smiling from ear to ear. I could tell she was having a good time with my humor, or else I wouldn’t have taken things too far.

“So are we going to park or what?” I pushed.

We were on a country road and had passed several old dirt driveways that were clearly abandoned or possibly hunting property. “Turn into the next opening.”

She shook her head as she started driving onto a little hidden driveway. “I can’t believe you’re making me do this.”

I kissed her on her cheek slowly then reached my lips to her ear. “I’m not making you do anything, baby, well nothing you don’t want to do,” I teased.

Hope threw the car in park and within seconds she was sitting on top of me. Her hands were all over me, and mine all over hers. We were in the middle of nowhere and didn’t have to hide our actions from anyone, so I planned on taking full advantage of the situation.

I can’t believe that Chance talked me into parking in the middle of nowhere for some afternoon delight, but he had, and I loved every second of it. Once I put my car into park I climbed right over and began groping my boyfriend. I wasn’t sure how serious he was really being when he was telling me to do it, but after a while I was just as interested in the possibilities.

Chance had the strongest hands and he knew just how to use them. We were trying to make do with the little space we had in the car, but it was not working out as good as we had anticipated. Even my backseat was small in comparison to Chance’s body. He stood nearly six foot tall, and maneuvering both of our bodies was quite complicated.

  “Let’s get out,” he suggested.

Chance opened the door without taking his hands off of me. He’d reached behind and opened it then guided me out only to press me back against it. I stopped kissing him to look around at the property. We were on a long driveway surrounded by huge trees. It was cloudy out, but it seemed shaded also. Chance didn’t waste any time when he picked me up and sat me on the flat part of my trunk. I wrapped my legs around his waist and pulled him toward me. My hands slid up his hard chest. It was enjoyable to feel every muscle as I brushed over them with my palms.

I felt my bra loosen and with one swift tug. He’d removed my top with little effort.

Chance bit down on his lip as I watched his hands pulling away my straps, exposing me to whatever was out there in the woods with us. In heat of the moment, I didn’t even care. I was too turned on to contemplate anyone being out there beyond the trees.

“Is there a blanket or something in the trunk?” Chance asked.

I ran my tongue against his neck and slid it up to his ear. “Yes,” I whispered.

He pulled away from me and began his embark toward the driver’s side of the car; as I grabbed a shirt to cover my naked chest. It was hard not to notice the protruding bulge in his pants. “Hurry up,” I ordered.

“I am,” he shouted, as he got to the driver’s door. “Shit!”

“What is it?” I jumped down from the car, heading in his direction.

“It’s locked. Go around the other side and hit the unlock button,” he suggested.

I ran to the other side of the car and tried the passenger side door. “Oh, crap.” Then I quickly tried the back door that we came out of. “Oh no, no, no! It’s locked, too.”

“Fuck! I must have leaned you against it as we were getting out. Shit!” Chanced leaned his head over the roof of the car.

“What are we going to do?” I asked.

“See if any of the windows are cracked.” He suggested.

We both looked on our sides. “Nothing!”

“Same here.” I rubbed my face with my hands. “What are we going to do?”

Chance came over to my side of the car. He took me in his arms. “Right now we’re going to pretend we aren’t locked out of the car.” He pressed his lips against mine and removed the shirt from my hands.

“Chance we shouldn’t,” I said, as our lips pressed together.

His lips worked their way down my neck, and then gently across one of my exposed breasts. My head fell back, and I knew I was losing the battle. “We can’t,” I repeated.

He reached for my waist, pressing me gently against the car. “We can.” He wasted no time unbuttoning my pants.

“We shouldn’t.” It was my last attempt, except the sensations were too strong. I couldn’t fight the desire I had for Chance when he was touching me. I wanted him to continue, and I didn’t care if we were doing it outside, while being locked out of the vehicle.

The next time he pressed his lips on mine I wiggled myself out of my pants. Just as fast as I’d done that, I proceeded to unbutton his pants. Chance picked me up and I wrapped my legs around his waist. My arms went around his shoulders, and within seconds he entered me.

Being with him like this was so erotic. We were exposed in the woods. It was private, but not really. I pulled Chance’s shirt over his head, while hearing a car go by on the road we’d came in on.

We felt the raindrops hitting us, but did nothing until they became heavier. We should have stopped, but the more the rain hit Chance’s body, the more I wanted him. His chest was so slick when my palms glided over it. I leaned forward, lapping up the drops of water off of his skin. The sounds of our bodies slapping together echoed off the trees, along with our matched bout of moans. I reached up, taking a handful of his wet hair and pulled his lips into mine. Our slippery mouths played together, each kiss intensifying with our steady pace. Chance pushed me back, allowing my body to lie flat on the car. He ran his hand over my slick breast, circling my nipple with the wetness from the downpour. Thunder rumbled in the distance, sending chills all over me. This wasn’t just crazy, it was dangerous, making it the hottest sex I’d ever experienced.

I savored Chance’s lips again, sucking the water off of them, and then licking them dry. He teased me with his tongue, pulling away when I leaned in, and with no warning he picked up his rhythm. Chance pumped into me so hard that I cried out each time our skin smacked together. My toes curled as I felt myself losing control of my muscles. As I clung to him overwhelmed with passion, he tightened up, closing his eyes, drawing his ending out. He held me tight against him, and let the rain continue to fall down on us.

We were two people, naked, in the middle of the woods, too caught up in each other to care about anything else.

Finally we came to the realization that we were going to run out of daylight. Chance paced around, I assumed to think of ways to resolve our problem.

“Now what do we do? We’re soaking wet and it’s getting cold,” I said as we began looking around for our clothes. Putting them on was pointless considering they were all in puddles beneath our feet, but we did it anyway. The rain continued to fall and even though we were up shit’s creek, I couldn’t help but admire how beautiful Chance looked soaking wet. He was so irresistible that I had sex with him while stranded in the rain. He was making me lose my mind, and I felt invigorated.

Chance looked around the woods. I had no idea what he was doing, but he seemed like he knew.

The rain was really coming down now. I hugged myself trying to keep warm. Chance came back to the car with a giant rock in his hand. “I promise I will pay to have this repaired, Hope.”

All I could do was nod. I just wanted to be warm.

I hated having to break Hope’s window to get inside the car, but neither of us had our phones. We were stuck in the woods in the middle of nowhere. It wasn’t like I could easily flag someone down to help us. It was starting to get dark and pretty cold, not to mention that the rain wasn’t letting up.

When Hope saw me with the rock she didn’t overreact. I chose the passenger rear window, because it was the smallest. When the rock hit it the tiny tempered glass pieces crumpled in and out
side the car. I took my hand and reached in to unlock the door. Once it was open I got Hope inside and ran to the driver’s side to get the car started. When the heat came on, Hope looked relieved. She rubbed her hands together in front of the vents when her teeth chattered. I knew exactly how she felt as I began the same process.

“I thought we were going to freeze to death,” she admitted.

I watched as she continued to hold her hands up to where the hot air was blowing. We were both soaking wet. Before I pulled out of the wet dirt road I remembered she said she had a blanket in the trunk. I ran to the rear of the car and grabbed it, and after I got back in wrapped it around Hope to get her warm faster.

“Is that better?” I asked, while my teeth were still chattering.

“Much.” She gave me a quick smile as I climbed to the back and made a makeshift cover for the broken window out of an old bumper sticker I found on her backseat. I bit the sticker into small pieces so it acted as tape, and used a piece of cardboard from an old taco box I found on the floor. It was a good thing Hope had a messy car.

“Okay, now let’s get you home.” I climbed back into the driver’s seat and put the car into drive.

  “Chance?”

  “Yeah, baby?”

  “I love you.”

I looked toward her. “I love you too. I’d do anything for you. You know that.”

After about a half hour of driving, Hope fell asleep. We only had another half hour to go, so I didn’t bother waking her.

Driving home in the silence gave me a bunch of time to think about everything that happened. I enjoyed visiting the school and seeing what all of our possibilities could be, but I just didn’t feel as excited as I would have anticipated.

I wanted more than just to play a sport forever. Finishing my education was important as well, but I was looking at a bigger picture now. I could do all of those things and have Hope by my side. I didn't need to separate the two. We needed to make the decision to move together. I wouldn’t do it without her, because I knew that once school was over, she was my future. I couldn’t risk giving that up for any reason.

It wasn’t that Hope would deliberately make me give something like that up. She wasn’t like that at all; in fact, she would have pushed me toward it, forsaking her own happiness for mine. It pissed me off when she put her needs last. I wanted her to be happy too. In all honesty, Hope was the kind of girl that didn’t need much to make her happy. She made do with what she had and was generally satisfied with it. Whatever we were to decide, we needed to do it soon. With Christmas and the wedding, things were about to get hectic.

When I pulled into the driveway I noticed that the living room light was on. Without waking Hope I managed to reach into the passenger side and lift her into my hold. She wrapped her arms around me, but it was obvious she was still half-asleep. Mark met me at the door and held it open while I carried Hope upstairs to her room. I received some curious looks when they saw her disheveled hair and blanket. I knew as soon as I sauntered down the stairs I would be drilled by the sergeant himself.

Sure enough, I hit that last step and he was there waiting. “What happened to you two?”

“Hope thought she hit something so she pulled over. We both jumped out of the car, but one of us must have somehow hit the damn lock button. When we went to get back in, we were locked out. Our phones and everything were in the car. I had to break the window to get us inside.” I confessed, although only half was the truth.

“I assume it was already raining?” He asked.

“Yep, it had just started. Anyway, Hope said she had a blanket in the trunk, so once I got her safely into the heat I grabbed it, and made sure she was warm enough.”

“Thank you, Chance. You are always keeping her safe. I really appreciate it.” He gave me a pat on my shoulder. “So come in here and tell me how it went today. Did you see anything you liked?”

“Do you mind if I grab some dry clothes?”

  “Not at all,” he replied.

I ran out to get changed and came back in feeling much better.

We met in the kitchen, and I started pouring myself some tea immediately. “It was really nice. The fields are great there. Seems like they have a lot to offer.”

“What about Hope? Did she seem interested?” He asked.

I shrugged my shoulders. “Some things she really liked, but you know Hope. She hates school. I don’t know what she wants honestly. Maybe giving her a goodnight’s sleep will help.”

“So, have you made up your mind?”

“I don’t know yet, Mark. I mean, I haven’t played in a while. I don’t even know if I’ll still be good enough,” I admitted.

“I don’t mean to keep pushing you about it. I just want Hope to get a degree in something. She has no clue what she wants to do with her life. I feel like if she has you there, she won’t feel so reluctant about it. You’re friends, and you could be a mentor to her like you are here at home.”

If he only knew how I mentored his daughter.

“I will talk to her tomorrow about it,” I announced.

“Thanks for taking her today. She never would have gone with me,” he admitted.

  I laughed. “Probably not.”

I took my drink and headed out to the pool house. Hope was already waiting for me in my bed.

“Hey, how did you get in here?” I asked as I crawled in beside her.

“I went out the garage door while you and dad were talking. I locked my bedroom door and he already thinks I’m sleeping. I just wanted to be close to you. I’m still sort of cold,” she confessed.

I cuddled my body up to hers. With one final kiss to the top of her head, I easily fell fast asleep knowing she was right where she belonged.

Waking up in Chance’s arms was something that I wanted to do every day for the rest of my life. It didn’t matter where we were as long as it happened. His strong hold wrapped tightly around me and I’d never felt safer.

Knowing I needed to get back inside of the main house before I was detected missing was getting easier. When I snuck out I would wear my running clothes. Exiting Chance’s pool house from the rear was simple, and I would return to the house without my father knowing any different. Most of the time, he didn’t even notice me coming in anyway.

I kissed Chance on his perfect nose. “Good morning.”

He kept his eyes closed but gave me a welcomed smile. “Morning.”

Chance nestled his face into my hair. I actually think he enjoyed smelling it, since he did it often. I let him hold me close, because I was not ready to get out of his warm bed.

“What are your plans today?” I asked.

“Well I would love to stay right here in this bed and hold you tight all day, but I guess that isn’t very feasible.” He sighed. “I need to run out and get this Christmas shopping done so that I’m not out there with all the crazies.”

“Can I come with you? I have to get something for my mom, and I also wanted to pick out Dad and Buff’s wedding gift.”

I felt little kisses on top of my head. “Of course we can go together, after I get your window fixed. I almost forgot about it happening.” He was quiet for a second. “Do you want to get them something from the both of us?”

Chance knew I didn’t have much money. I had saved some when I was in school and even worked a small job as cashier at Rylee’s mom’s consignment shop, but it was dwindling away. My father was always leaving me twenties and since Chance and I are a couple he never let me use them, so I had a stash from that.

“Yeah, what do you have in mind? I don’t have a whole lot to spend,” I confessed.

Chance started running his hand over my arms. It felt good but gave me goose bumps immediately. “I was offering to pay for all of it, Hope. We’re a couple. Plus, I don’t think you realize how much money I made when I went away. You know I was working almost eighty hours a week and forty of that was double time? I saved almost every cent I made. I will buy the pres
ent from both of us.”

“I don’t want you to have to do that.” I felt like I was worthless, and I certainly didn’t want him to feel like I’d ever use him.

Chance turned me around and looked directly into my eyes. We were so over the morning breath issues, in fact we never even discussed it. “Hope, I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I’m completely okay taking care of you and our children. If you decided that you don’t want to finish school, I will be fine with that too. I’m in this for the long haul and I want to take care of you.”

His words were perfect, but one thing stuck out. They were actually shocking to me. “Children, as in more than one? How many do you want exactly?”

“We can start with nine boys. After that you can have your girls,” he teased.

I picked up a pillow and hit him with it. “Do you know what my body would look like if I had more than nine children?”

“It doesn’t matter, because I will still love you. Besides, your body would only have changed because we created so much perfection. Every stretch mark will remind me of that.” Chance’s words made me want to cry. They were beautiful.

“I don’t know what to say.” I pushed the pillow out of the way and leaned in to kiss him. Then I whispered in his ear. “You know the probability of me having nine children that are all boys is highly unlikely.”

“How about we start with one and go from there? I only wanted nine to have my own ball team, so I guess I’ll just have to be the coach of our child’s team, whether it’s a girl or boy.” He kissed me again.

“When will we be having this child?” I was afraid to ask. It was understandable that Chance wanted to discuss our future. I remember wondering what I’d name my kids when I was still one myself. I think it just represented long-term. As much as I wanted that, it was scary going into uncharted territory.

He shrugged. “Whenever you decide to go off the pill. I don’t think Mark would have the heart to kill his grandchild’s father. I’m not saying I want to do it now, but if it did happen, I wouldn’t be pissed about it.”
