“I can do that.” He kissed me again. This time it was more calculated. A man with a purpose. “Would you like some wine or a brandy?”

“No, I have to go back to work tomorrow, and I have a feeling I’ll be quite distracted as it is. I drank enough this weekend.”

“Let me give you a reason to be really distracted.” He guided me to the staircase. “I like this.” He drew his finger between my breasts, down to the tie that held by wrap dress together. “It’s very convenient.”

“I thought so too.” I slung my arms over his shoulders. “Do you want to untie me?”

“I will.” He toyed with the knot. “Upstairs.”

  “I thought we didn’t need a bed.”

“We don’t but tonight I’d like to explore and I’m going to need more than a wall to prop you against.”

  “What are we waiting for?”

“Follow me.” He climbed the open staircase to the landing that overlooked the living room. There was a large window that boasted a view of a small patio and garden. To the right of the landing were a few more stairs that led to his bedroom. “In here.” He opened the door to a stunningly decorated modern bedroom. The king size bed looked lost in the space splashed in muted gray and black accents.

  “It’s so big in here.”

“I took out the middle bedroom to expand the space. I wanted a walk-in closet and a bigger en suite. I don’t get to relax often but when I do I want to be comfortable. This is my retreat. Or at least that was my intention.”

  “It’s fabulous.”

“I was thinking that about you.” He stood behind me, his eyes connecting with mine in the mirror over the dresser. “This dress is sexy.”

“Thank you.” When he kissed the side of my neck, my insides pulsated with desire. I’d been aroused ever since he sent me those texts this morning.

“You know what would be sexier?” He untied the sash at my waist, opening the dress in the front.

  “What?”

“This.” He slipped the straps from my shoulders, kissing the top of each one before taking the dress down and letting it drop to the floor. I stepped over the silky garment before removing my shoes. “That’s better.”

This particular sundress didn’t look right with a bra so I hadn’t worn one. Now I stood before him in nothing but my black, lacy panties. The hunger in his expression told me he was pleased with what he saw.

He traced his finger along my spine with one hand, while he moved the other down my stomach. “I didn’t get to appreciate your body last night. It’s incredible.”

“I could say the same about you.”

He turned me around, gazing at my breasts as he bit his bottom lip.

“Your mouth.” I skimmed my fingers over his lips. “I used to stare at it during English.” I kissed the corner of his mouth. “I sat across from you.”

  “I remember.”

“I wondered what it would be like to kiss you.” Brushing my lips along his, I savored the warmth of his breath. “What it would be like for you to kiss me. To want me.”

“You don’t have to wonder anymore.” He cupped the back of my head, bringing his lips to mine. “I’ll kiss all of you.”

When he caressed his lips along my neck, I lifted my chin. “Ah...” He swirled his tongue around my nipple as he slid his hand inside my panties. “Miles.”

He licked and sucked my breasts, his hot breath covering my already heated flesh.

I glanced between us as he dropped to his knees, kissing my stomach and thighs. “I’d like to kiss right here.” He pressed his lips to my lace covered mound, gripping my backside, holding me to his face. I squirmed as he continued to kiss and lick me through my panties. Running my fingers in his hair, I rocked my hips forward.

“Take these off.” He tugged at my panties, gliding them down my legs. “I need to taste you.”

He flattened his tongue along my entrance as he spread me open with his fingers. He teased me with long, slow licks. My nipples hardened in response as my skin prickled with desire. The tightening in my core shot lower, pulsing between my legs as he pleasured me with his mouth. It had never been like this for me. Digging his fingers into my backside, he increased his pace with his tongue making me scream out when the strongest orgasm I’d ever experienced wracked through my system. My legs shook, causing me to stumble forward.

“Whoa.” He stood to face me, holding me still. “Are you okay?”

“That was ah...” I wrapped my arms around his neck, licking his jaw, making my way to his lips. Slithering my hand down his chest, I ran my palm along his erection.

“Are you ready for more?” He shoved his hand into his pocket and took out a condom. “I can do this all night.” He backed me against the bed, gently pushing me down. “I’m certain you can keep up with me.”

I didn’t want to admit it but I’d been sore all day. Pleasantly sore. It reminded me where he’d been. Where I wanted him. I propped myself onto my elbows as he put the condom on. He pushed his pants over his muscular thighs and down his legs. I couldn’t get enough of him. Swallowing hard as he came toward me, I took in his glorious body. He joined me on the bed, placing his hands on either side of my hips as he positioned himself on his knees.

“Last night was good,” he said. “But it was fast and sloppy. Tonight, I want to take my time and concentrate on you.”

“Last night was very good.” I hooked my legs around his waist. “I’ve been thinking about it all day.”

“Let me give you something else to think about.” He shifted his pelvis, burying himself deep inside me. Running his palm along my calf, he hitched my leg up, hitting me from a different angle.

When I looked up, our gazes connected. He smiled, tender and comforting. He’d ignited more passion from me than any other, but there was something different about him. As much as I wanted him to make me feel this way, there were moments when I wondered what it would be like to be his. No! This was enough. It had to be. If I told myself that, I’d believe it.

“What’s going on in that beautiful mind of yours?” He lifted me up and settled me in his lap, continuing that delicious, steady pace. “You look distracted.”

  “I’m completely focused on you.”

“Maybe I need to switch things up a bit and keep you with me.”

“What do you have in mind?”

With a wicked glint in his eyes, he turned me onto my stomach.

  Holy hell!

  Chapter Five

  Miles

Fuckable didn’t begin to describe the goddess beneath me. Her eager attitude fueled my desire. Releasing her legs from my hips, I flipped her onto her stomach. I almost came when she grasped the comforter, bracing herself for reentry.

I gave it to her slowly, allowing me to savor each delectable inch of her. She muffled her screams into the mattress as I held her still.

“Now I have your full focus.” I smacked her backside. “That’s much better.”

“Yes!” she screamed as I slammed into her, increasing my rhythm.

Kissing the back of her neck, I gathered her hair in my hand. Breathing in her scent, committing this moment to memory. Last night when I agreed to fuck her with no commitment, seemed like a lifetime ago. After being with her, there was no way I could do what she asked. She’d been on my mind all day. Whatever she thought she wanted from me, I’d give her, but I was more determined than ever to show her that she needed so much more from me.

“Miles!” She moaned as she clenched around me. “I...”

“I know, me too.” I twisted her hair in my hand as I squeezed her hip with my other. The sweat trickled down my back as I pumped into her, powerfully releasing into her as she came.

After a few seconds of hard panting, I turned her face so I could seek out her lips. Kissing her softly, I stroked her cheek with my thumb. “Wow.” I exhaled, still trying to settle down. “You were rather unexpected.”

  “In a good way?”

  “In a very go
od way.” I slipped out of her and moved off the bed, hurrying to the bathroom to deal with the condom. Taking a deep breath, my heart rate returned to normal. I grabbed two water bottles from the mini fridge under the counter and headed back to my room.

“This weekend has been full of surprises.” As she stretched out on my bed, I realized how good she looked in it. “When I left work on Friday afternoon I never expected for any of this to happen.”

“Me neither.” I placed the waters on the nightstand before sliding into bed and propping myself against the headboard. “Come here.” I patted the spot next to me. “You’re too far away.”

“This has to be the biggest bed I’ve ever seen.”

“Most nights I crash on the couch.”

  “How come?”

“I fall asleep working and I’m too lazy to get up. If you were in it, I’d be here every night.”

She scooted closer, hesitating a moment as she gazed at my chest. I wasn’t much of a cuddlier but there was an exception to every rule. This woman may be the exception to all my rules. I tugged her to me, resting her head on my chest.

She sighed as she settled in. “This is what I missed in high school, huh?”

“You’re giving me too much credit.” I held her close to me as I twirled the ends of her hair around my fingers. “I wasn’t this good back then.”

  “Years of experience?”

“Not as much as you think.” She wasn’t the only one busy with getting an education and building a career. It wasn’t as if I’d had a different woman in my bed every night. When an opportunity presented itself, I took it but I didn’t make it a habit.

“In school you had a new cheerleader every weekend.”

“Your memory of me may be a bit fuzzy.”

“My memory of you is as clear as anything.” She rested her palm on my chest. “I had a crush on you.”

“You did?” This was news to me. She avoided eye contact with me on a regular basis and often scurried out of a room when I entered. She didn’t hang in the same circle of friends as me so we were never out together.

  “Who didn’t?”

“If you liked me, why did you treat me as if I didn’t exist?”

  “Did I?”

“I thought you were a snob. I didn’t think you liked me much at all.”

“Me? A snob? The only reason I was at that private school was because my dad taught there. Do you know how hard it was to keep up with all of you rich kids? I didn’t fit in.”

  “What do you mean?”

“I didn’t live in a big, fancy house. My parents weren’t lawyers or politicians, and I didn’t even have a car until I was in college. I don’t regret the opportunity to attend such a prestigious prep school, but my high school life was a bit lonely. I couldn’t wait to get out.”

“I never saw you as different.” I didn’t like thinking of her as being alone. If I had known, maybe I could have treated her better.

“No.” She giggled. “You thought I was the same as every other girl.”

“I was seventeen and horny. I’m sorry if I offended you back then.”

“You don’t have to apologize. It was a long time ago. I know that’s not who you are.”

“I’m glad you shot me down.” Back then she’d stomped on my ego. No girl had ever turned me down until her. I was too much of a man, or so I thought, to pursue her after she said no, but now over a decade later I was getting another chance.

  “Why?”

“We were kids back then.” I rolled her onto her back, sliding my hand down her stomach and between her legs. “You deserve more than a quick one in the back of my car.”

“You’re a charmer.” Her smile lit up her whole face. “Maybe I wouldn’t mind a quick one in your car.”

“That could be arranged.” I slipped my fingers inside her heat, delighted to find that she was more than ready for me. “Lesson number three.”

“Ah...” She squeezed her legs together when I curled my fingers. “Miles...”

“Lesson number three.” I kissed her neck, working my way to those luscious breasts. “Quick can be very pleasurable when done right.”

  “Maybe you should show me.”

“I don’t want to be quick tonight.”

“I do like when you’re slow. You managed to keep me very satisfied.”

  “Get used to it.”

The banging on the front door stopped me from taking her again. “What the hell?” Who would be knocking on my door on a Sunday night?

Another loud bang all but killed the mood. “Damn it.”

  “Should you get that?”

“I’d like to say no but my phone has been vibrating since we came upstairs. I’ve just been ignoring it.”

  “You could have answered it.”

“You get my undivided attention when we’re together.” I kissed her lips. “Always.”

When she flashed me those dimples, I wanted to stay with her but my uninvited guest wouldn’t allow that. “I’ll try to make this fast.” I got out of bed and put on my pants. When I reached for my phone I saw all the missed calls and messages from Max. “Shit.” The texts weren’t good.

  “What?”

“It’s Max.” I threw on a shirt. “This might take longer than I thought.”

“It’s okay.” She sat up, taking the sheet with her. “I have an early morning.”

“Stay the night.” I took her face between my hands, making sure she knew I wasn’t ready for her to go. “I’m not done with you.”

The sound of the bell incessantly chimed through the hall.

“Go get the door.” She kissed me. “It’s probably important.”

“Isn’t it always when it comes to my brothers?” I released her from my hold and headed for the hall. “I’m coming!” I yelled when I got down to the foyer. Of all the night’s Max could have gotten arrested.

When I opened the door, my brother stepped inside. His bottom lip was swollen and he had a cut above his right eyes. “What the hell happened to you?”

“Where the fuck were you?” he asked. “I’ve been blowing up your phone.”

  “What happened?”

“I got arrested and my fucking attorney.” He pointed to me. “That would be you, was nowhere to be found.”

“I’m sorry.” As I shut the door, a sense of resentment came over me. That wasn’t something that occurred often. I was the one always bailing my brothers out of trouble. I wanted to be with Kirsten and not think about my responsibilities. “I didn’t have my phone on me.”

“Why? You always have your phone with you. What were you doing?”

“It doesn’t matter.” I went into the living room. “Tell me what went on tonight.”

“Your basic bar brawl.” He went over to the counter that flowed into the kitchen and poured himself a drink. “It wasn’t my fault.”

  “It never is.”

“I’m serious. I was trying to do something good.”

  “And?”

“I couldn’t get a hold of you.” He sipped the scotch, wincing when it touched his lip. “I didn’t want to involve Mom and Dad. A whole family of attorneys and I had to call...” He shook his head and dropped his gaze to the floor.

  “Jameson.” Wonderful. “How’d that go?”

“How do you think it went?” He plopped down on the sofa. “He swooped in and saved the day like he always does with all his friends in high places.”

“You’re lucky he was available.” I went to the kitchen and got him some ice.

“No one pressed charges and they let me go. Jameson wasn’t as generous. He freaked on me.”

“Why?” I handed him the ice.

  “Because I hit a senator’s son.”

  “Seriously?”

“He was a jerk who didn’t know how to treat a lady so I schooled him on the proper behavior.” He pressed the ice bag against his lip.

  “Who was it?”

  “Senator Falco.”

  “He
s a family friend.”

“I know.” He rested his head on the back of the chair. “Jameson called him and they worked it all out. I was in and out of the station in under an hour. I have to pay for the damages at the bar.”

  “I’m glad Jameson was there.”

“You didn’t tell me what had you so occupied.”

Before I could field his question, Kirsten came into the room. She’d gotten dressed and tried to smooth out her hair but she looked like she’d just had sex. She wasn’t as put together as when she arrived, but somehow that thoroughly fucked look suited her. Especially since I was the one that did the fucking.

“Nice.” Max grinned. “Now I know what you were doing. You’re forgiven for ignoring me.”

“Hello, Max.” Kirsten approached him. “What happened to your face?”

“It’s nothing,” he said. “Crazy night.”

“Do you want me to clean it up for you?” She pushed the hair from his forehead. “That cut above your eye looks nasty. We don’t want it to get infected.”

“As much as I’d like to play doctor with you.” He smirked at me. “I don’t think Miles would like that.”

“You would be right.” I took Kirsten’s hand and guided her toward the foyer. “Max got arrested tonight.”

“It wasn’t my fault,” he shouted from the other room.

“Ignore him.” I backed her against the wall. “Are you sure you can’t stay?”

  “You’re a little busy.”

“I’m sorry but I do need to deal with him.” I kissed the inside of her wrist. “Can I see you one night this week?”

“I have late hours most of the week.”

“Give me one night.” I trailed my lips up her arm and to her neck, whispering into her ear. “You won’t regret it.”

“Thursday.” She closed her eyes when I kissed her jaw. “I can get away on Thursday.”

“Perfect.” I lingered at the corner of her mouth. “Plan to spend the night.”

“Most of the night.” She kissed my cheek.

“Go before I carry you back to bed.” I cupped the side of her face and kissed her hard, biting her bottom lip before breaking the connection.

She gasped when I pulled away, gently touching her lip with her thumb.
