‘You thought I was dead,’ Sandrine agreed. ‘So did I, more than once. But as I am not …’ She looked down at Tony. ‘The decision must be yours.’
‘The need for a decision never existed,’ Sasha said. ‘I always knew this.’ She kissed Tony, and then embraced Sandrine. ‘Summon me if you need me, sir,’ she said, and left the room.
Sandrine sat down. ‘Was she good?’
‘Not as good as you.’
‘You are obliged to say that.’
‘So tell me about Fräulein von Blintoft.’
‘She kept me alive.’
‘You could say the same of Sasha.’
‘And so, we are both alive.’ She lay down beside him. ‘What do you intend to do now?’
‘As soon as I can stand again, go on fighting. Are you happy with that?’
‘Oh, yes,’ she said. ‘Oh, yes.’
