Reawakened: The Unexpected Series Page 14

by Roberts, S. E.

“Very.” The word hardly comes out because he has all thoughts leaving my mind. I take that back. The thought of him stroking himself is definitely at the forefront of my mind. “Are you rubbing yourself?” I can’t believe I just asked that, but I’m too turned on right now to be embarrassed.

“Fuck, yes, I am. Hold on.”

It sounds like he sets his phone down on his bed, but then he’s back in the next second.

  “Take your panties off.”

I grip both sides and make quick work to get them off, tossing them to the floor. Next, I unhook my bra, taking it the rest of the way off, and it joins my panties.

“Are you naked?” I already know the answer but ask anyway.

“Yeah, beautiful. But I wish you were here naked beside me.”

  “Well, I’m naked too.”

“Good. Now, slowly insert one finger into your pussy.”

At his command, I enter one digit into my wetness and nearly fly off the bed. I don’t even know the last time it was when I pleasured myself, but this feels fucking fantastic. I know that having my sexy man on the other end of the phone is the reason it’s so amazing.

“Put one more finger along with it and pump in and out of your body. Imagine it’s my dick fucking you.”

I throw my head back in ecstasy and know I’m not going to last much longer.

“In and out. In and out. Now go faster because I’m going to take things slow at first, but then I’m going to fuck you so hard you won’t be able to walk the next day.”

The fireworks explode around me as the room spins. I have never in my life come so hard, and I know that once I have him for real, it’ll be one hundred times better. Holy. Shit. I hear grunting through the line and know that he came right along with me, which makes my own orgasm even more intense.

I cannot believe we just did that, but I can’t wipe the damn smile off my face.

  “You’re fucking amazing.”

Before I was scared to take that next step with him. But now? Now, I’m pretty sure I’ve never been more ready for anything in my life.

  Caden

“Hey, man. You coming out with us tonight?” Anthony asks from behind me as we walk down the stairs from the locker room. We just finished our Friday shift, and I want nothing more than to get to my girl now.

“No, sorry. I gotta go see Sierra. You’re not as pretty.”

  “Fuck, you’ve got it bad.”

I snigger, but I can’t disagree with him. I have it so bad for Sierra Greene.

“I’ll see you tomorrow,” I say as I climb into my truck and head toward the bakery.

She had to have her oil changed this morning, so I told her that I’d pick her up so we could swing by and pick her Explorer up after she gets off. I haven’t seen her since our phone rendezvous. I knew I probably wouldn’t get to see her this week, and that was the reason I had invited her to dinner at my parent’s house.

Ever since that night, she’s been quieter than normal. I’ve thought about asking if she regrets what we did, but I don’t want to upset her more if she does. I can’t for one second say I’m sorry, but I’d feel like a dick if I pressured her into doing something. It was literally the hottest fucking thing I’ve ever been part of.

I find a spot in front of her building and then hop out of my truck with a damn skip in my step. I’ve missed her this week, and I can’t wait to have her in my arms again. Last time I saw her, we didn’t get much time alone. But tonight I’ve lined up a babysitter for her, so we can finally have some adult time. I have plenty ideas of what I’d like to do to that pretty little body, but I’ll control the beast for as long as I have to. I want her to decide when she’s ready. As much as I want her, I’d wait an entire lifetime for her if I had to.

I pull the heavy door open and the bell rings above my head, alerting the women that I’m here.

“Hey, Caden!” Avery hollers from behind the counter as she wipes it down with a rag.

“Hey, Avery.” I walk further into the small space and eye the cupcakes on display. My woman makes the best damn cupcakes in Phoenix, possibly Arizona. It’s a miracle I haven’t gained fifty pounds since we’ve been together.

“Let me go get your girl.” She drops the cloth on the counter and leaves me, and in the next second, my gorgeous girl strolls out from the kitchen.

“Hey, beautiful.” I pull her into my arms once she makes her way to me. “I missed you this week.” I look down at her before pulling her in for a kiss.

“I missed you too,” she says when the kiss ends, shyness in her voice, and I’ve just noticed that she won’t look me in the eye.

“You kids take off. I’ll finish cleaning up.” Avery shoos us out the door after Sierra grabs her things.

“Your car is at Elder’s?” I ask as I help her up into my truck.

  “Yeah, the one on Southern.”

I walk around the front of the truck and then climb in beside her. I buckle myself in before turning to her. I hope like hell she still wants to go out tonight.

  “You okay?”

“Yeah, I’m fine.” Those are possibly the worst words your woman can ever tell you. If she ever says she’s fine, she is definitely not fine.

“Hey.” I rest my hand on her bare leg and I can tell my touch is affecting her, even if she doesn’t want it to.

“What?” She turns back to me. “I’m really fine. Promise.” She plasters a fake smile onto her beautiful face.

“You are not fine.” I point to her head. “What’s going on?” I decide to be straightforward with her because she probably is too uncomfortable to say anything. “Ever since our phone call on Sunday night, you’ve been acting like you’re upset.”

She rubs her face with her hands and then slaps them down on her legs.

  “I’m embarrassed, okay?”

  “Why are you embarrassed?”

“Because I’ve never done anything like that before, and I was worried I messed something up or didn’t make it good for you.”

I unhook my belt and then pull her into my side, brushing a stray hair behind her ear.

“Do you regret what we did?” I search her face for an answer and thankfully don’t see any signs of remorse.

“What? Why would I regret that? I loved it.”

“Good, because it was fucking amazing for me. You have no idea what you do to me.”

“Can we… can we do it again?” She looks up at me, the vulnerability back on her face.

“Hell, yeah, we can. But next time, I’d like to have you in my bed instead of yours.”

I hear her intake of breath, and I smile down at her.

“Now, buckle up and let’s go get your car.”

We ride across town in comfortable silence, her small hand resting in my large one. When we get to the garage, I hop out before opening her door for her.

“Let me show you your car.” The mechanic leads Sierra out toward her vehicle, leaving me in the waiting room.

“I’ll be in here.” I smile up at her before making my way to the counter. “I’ll go ahead and take care of that.” I nod toward her car.

The kid behind the counter rings me up, and I have a feeling that Sierra isn’t going to be thrilled with me paying for it, but I want to take care of her. If she’s going to be with me, she’ll have to get used to it eventually.

I head outside once I’m done and lean in to kiss her on the cheek.

“You can go to the apartment. I just need to run in real quick to pay.”

She starts toward the door, but I grab her arm.

“It’s taken care of.” I kiss her one more time to keep her from arguing and then start for my truck.

“Wait, what?” She runs toward me, trying to keep up, but my legs are much longer than hers.

I turn around and pull her into my arms.

“Just let me do this for you, okay?”

“But I have money. You don’t have to pay for things for me.”

“I know you do, but I take care of what’s mine.” At my words I see her face soften.

“Thank you.” She stands on her tiptoes and this time pulls me toward her and kisses me on the lips. “I’ll see you at home.”

She has no idea how good those words sound spilling from her gorgeous lips.

“Mommy!” Jayce sprints from the couch into my arms in record time as soon as I’m through the door.

I snort out a laugh as I fall back into the recliner with him.

“Hey, you. How was your day?” I brush his hair away from his eyes.

“It was good.” He lays his head on my shoulder. “Kenzie’s car is cool!” He jumps out of my lap back to the couch next to Mackenzie.

“Thanks for bringing them home.” I pull my shoes off, my feet hurting like hell after being on them for hours. I don’t think I will ever get used to standing all day like that.

“It’s really no problem. They were good.” She messes his hair up, and he slaps at her hand, because clearly she’s interrupting his show.

I had felt bad when Caden said she would bring them home because I don’t want her to feel burdened by us. But it’s obvious that she adores both my guys. I really couldn’t have gotten luckier.

  “Well, I appreciate it.”

“You know, I could just watch them here while you guys go out tonight so you don’t have to take them anywhere. I really don’t mind.”

This girl is as sweet as her dad, and she’s super mature for her age too. I have to wonder if it’s weird for her that I’m so much younger than Caden and I’m only about twelve years older than her. I’d take her up on her offer in a heartbeat if our plans didn’t involve coming back here. Ryke and Claire offered to keep them overnight. At first, I thought it would just be nice to sleep in tomorrow morning since Avery is opening the bakery, but now that we talked about our little phone-capades, I feel confident that I’m ready for more with him.

I shake the lust-filled thoughts of her father out of my head when I realize I haven’t responded to her.

“That’s okay. Our friends said they’d keep them all night, and they’ll have fun playing with their kids.”

She kisses Jayce on the head and then stands from the couch.

“All right, well let me know because I’m always happy to help anytime.” She pulls her long hair out of its confines and then twists it up into an adorable knot on top her head.

“Thanks, I will.” I stand. “I don’t know where your dad went.”

We both turn toward the hallway when we hear footsteps.

“I’m right here.” He pulls Mackenzie into his arms. “What are you doing tonight?”

“Probably just going to Erica’s. Is it okay if Kyle comes for dinner tomorrow night?”

He pulls away from her, and it’s obvious that he’s shocked by her question.

“You mean I finally get to meet the chump who stole my baby girl away from me?” He raises his eyebrows at her, but the smirk on his handsome face shows her that he’s only teasing her.

“Dad, you have to be nice.” She turns toward me. “Will you and the boys come too?”

This is literally the third time I’ve met this girl, but the fact that she wants me involved in her life already, means so much to me.

“Of course.” I nod. “Want to do homemade pizzas? And I can bake some cupcakes too.”

“I’ll help!” Jayce chimes in. The boy is always lost to that dumb sponge show, but at the first mention of sweets, his ears perk up.

“What if I wanted to help?” Caden plops onto the couch next to him, reaching over and stealing popcorn from his bowl.

“That’s mine!” he hollers, but it’s too late because he’s already crunching away.

Mackenzie and I smirk at each other. I love seeing this man with my kids.

“Pizza sounds good.” She sits to put her shoes on. “Well, I’m gonna get going. Don’t wait up for me, Dad. I think I might just stay with the Wilsons tonight.”

He steals another bite from Jayce and then stands and pulls her into his arms again. It’s clear to see that they have a good relationship. The kind of relationship I hope to always have with Auggie and Jayce.

“Okay, be safe.” He kisses the top of her head. “Love you, Kenz.”

“Love you too.” She surprises me when she walks to me and pulls me into her arms. I squeeze her back. “Thanks for making him so happy,” she whispers to me before walking away. The next instant we hear the door close behind her.

When I turn around, I see Caden smiling at me.

“I’m gonna go check on Auggie.”

I collect the few dirty dishes from the coffee table and then make my way to the kitchen.

“Hey, Mom,” my big boy says from the table. He’s busying himself with what appears to be another sheet of math homework. These teachers must love the parents for sending that crap home every night.

“Hey, Augs.” I kiss him on the cheek before taking the seat beside him. “How was your day?”

He shrugs. “It was okay. Mrs. Clemson was out sick today, so we had a substitute.”

“Oh yeah?” I pop one of his grapes into my mouth. “How was that?”

“She was mean and made us do extra work because we were talking too much.”

I chuckle. “Maybe you shouldn’t talk so much then.”

“It’s Annie Walker. She has such a big mouth.” I see the blush on his cheeks as he goes back to his homework.

“Annie Walker? Isn’t that the little girl that lives upstairs?”

“Mom, don’t get all weird on me. She’s only six. Way too young for me.”

I grin. “Yes, way too young for you. Plus, you’re not allowed to have a girlfriend until you’re twenty.”

“Ugh, Mom.” He rolls his eyes dramatically and then goes back to his work.

I head to my room to find something to wear tonight but then realize that I have no idea what Caden has up his sleeve. But no matter where he’s taking me, I definitely don’t want him seeing the bra and underwear I’m currently wearing.

I check the time and see that we don’t have to drop the boys off with Ryke and Claire for another few hours.

I pull my phone out of my pocket and quickly text Avery.

Me: Hey, what are you doing?

I rummage through my small closet in hopes of finding something that will look date-worthy, but of course, come up short. Why didn’t I think of this sooner?

My phone dings from the bedside table.

Avery: Just washing spit-up out of my hair. Tonight is your date, right?

Why she feels the need to tell me some things is beyond me.

Me: Yep, but I don’t have anything to wear. Want to go shopping?

Avery: You mind if a few of my spawns tag along?

  I chuckle.

Me: Nope. The more the merrier.

We make plans to meet up at the mall in a half hour, but then I realize that Auggie and Jayce most likely won’t want to tag along.

“Hey, what’s up?” Caden asks as he strolls into my room.

“Hey.” I wrap my arms around him and look up into his handsome eyes. “Would you mind watching the boys for a bit while I go shopping with Avery?”

“Not at all.” He tucks a piece of my hair behind my ear. A gesture he does frequently, but I love it. “What are you getting?”

“Wouldn’t you like to know?” I ask as I make my way to my jewelry box to find a pair of earrings.

“Yes, I would.” I feel his strong arms wrap around me from behind and I instantly dissolve into his touch. I wish I could live in his big, burly arms.

“I just need something to wear tonight.”

He spins me around. “What’s wrong with what you’re wearing?” He looks down at my holey capris and ratty old tank top that is covered in chocolate ganache.

I scoff. “I’m a mess. I just want to look nice. We never get to go out, so I thought it was cause for a new
outfit.”

“Fair enough.” He leans into my mouth and takes me into a searing kiss. He tastes of Diet Coke and popcorn.

“You sure you don’t mind watching them?” I ask breathlessly. Damn, his mouth is intoxicating.

“I’m sure.” He pecks my lips one last time. “Now, go.” He turns me toward the door and then slaps me on the ass. “We need to do some male bonding.”

I’ve always loved fashion, but what I hate is shopping. That’s why I asked Avery to help me because I’m indecisive when it comes to picking things out for myself. I’m pretty sure we’ve been in this store for the last forty-five minutes, and I still can’t decide on what to wear on my date tonight. Caden told me to dress up a bit because he wants to take me to a new steak place that just opened in Scottsdale. I love getting dolled up, but I want to find something perfect for him. I want to show him that it is possible for me to look nice and that I don’t only wear jeans and raggedy old T-shirts all the time. Although, that is pretty much all that I wear unless I’m going out.

“What about this one?” Avery holds up a black sequined, one-shoulder dress.

“It’s pretty, but I don’t care much for the black.”

We go back to flipping through the rack when I finally spot the perfect dress.

“I love this one.” I hold the crimson red material up to the light so we can see the color better. The off-the-shoulder dress dips into a V and has a mermaid skirt that’ll hit right above the knees. It’s gorgeous. Not something I’d typically wear, but I think Caden will love it.

“Finally!” she hollers in exasperation. “But as soon as he sees you in that he’s going to cancel your dinner plans, so he can bend you over his knee instead.”

I swat at her arm. “You’re absurd.”

We head toward the front to check out. “I’m totally not. That dress screams sex.”

I stop in my tracks. “Shit. Will this make me look like I’m trying to get him to sleep with me tonight?”
