The simplest touches felt like fire on her skin, in her blood.
Locke gently pulled his mouth away from her wrist and she would have fallen to her knees if he hadn’t held her up. “What’s going on in your head, Kitten? Should I worry that you’re thinking about something else instead of me and what I plan to do to you?”
She couldn’t stop the groan that fell from her lips and she certainly had no intention to stop the heavy ache between her thighs.
Katherine liked it, a lot, because that ache was always satisfied by her mate. Always.
“Katherine?” His fingers traced her pulse along the side of her neck. “Tell me.”
The last thing she wanted to do was talk, but she did feel like she owed him an explanation. “This connection we have?”
He nodded.
“Not just as mates, but the way I can hear you and you can hear me?”
He nodded again, but this time, he kept his eyes on hers as he pressed his lips to the inside of her wrist again.
Katherine’s knees went weak.
“You were saying?”
She closed her eyes for a moment only to have him press closer and lightly nip at her skin with his teeth.
“Oh fuck.” She groaned and clenched her thighs together, trying to give herself some relief.
“We’ll get there, Kitten. We’ll definitely get there, but you still haven’t explained.”
Explained? Her mind struggled with the concept.
“Yes, love. Tell me what you need to tell me and then I’ll give you what you want.”
She didn’t have to ask what that was. Locke always seemed to know what she wanted before she could understand it herself.
“Our link.”
“Yes,” he scratched his teeth across the sensitive skin of her wrist again.
“You know that True’s a witch.”
“Mmmhmm.” He swept his tongue over the same spot and she nearly fell to her knees.
“She’s not just a witch by birth. What her… what that horrible man did to her, melding her mind with Elizabeth’s, it changed True’s powers. Made her more than just a witch, it made her more of an elemental I think.”
She wasn’t sure if Locke would understand, after all True herself was still struggling with the two parts of her personality.
“That’s probably why she and I clicked so long ago.”
“Tell me more.” He didn’t need to say the words. She doubted she could stop the story now that she’d gotten it started.
“My grandmother told me about our heritage. It skips generations in our families and only passes down to the women.”
Locke pushed her blouse off her shoulders, and she startled, looking down as he bared her chest and dropped the garment to the ground. “And you’re definitely a woman, Katherine.”
She found it hard to breathe when he knelt down in front of her and pulled the waistband of her skirt and managed to draw the pair of silk panties down along with it.
Standing there with his mouth just about level with her belly button, his breath hot against her skin, Katherine found it hard to speak, let alone breathe.
But she knew if she wanted to have him sooner rather than later, she needed to tell him the story and get it all out in the open.
“When I was a little girl, I thought the story was more of a fairy tale, just one that Gramm never told. We have an ancestor, Moira. The story tells us that she was a familiar to as powerful a witch as the world had ever seen.”
Katherine saw the question in Locke’s eyes, but he let her continue.
“And she was so loyal to this witch, that she never left her side even when the rest of the world turned its back on her. Such devotion had left its mark on the witch and in turn, she wanted to repay the loyalty of her familiar.
“She did so, by making Moira a human. She felt that the love and devotion that her familiar had shown her would serve mankind well through Moira’s children and down through the line.”
Locke set his hands on her hips and moved them down to the outside of her thighs, barely touching her skin. “You’re so beautiful.”
If he kept touching her like that, she might just lose her mind.
“Fate has a way of making its own rules. Just like the natural world around us, magic isn’t an exact science. Flowers which have six petals can sometimes have five or seven. The link that connected Moira to her witch doesn’t seem to breed true in every generation, sometimes it skips. And maybe,” she moaned as she felt his breath on her thigh, deliciously close to where she wanted him the most, “our children will have it, or maybe they won’t, but they will carry that magic in them.”
The smile that touched his lips was sensual and sly. “So, you’re telling me that you’re part cat?”
She licked at her lips. “If the stories are to be believed, then yes.”
His hands moved up from her knees, his thumbs tracing up the inside of her thighs. “Are you worried that I’d have an issue with that?” Before she could say anything, he laughed… out loud. “Baby, I’m a lion. I go all cat sometimes. How could I be upset to have a mate who might just be the best match in the world for me?”
To say she was stunned was an understatement.
Locked helped bring her down to her knees and then he laid her out in the grass, slipping his hand between her thighs.
She heard him call them luscious and for the first time in her life she agreed. He made her feel that way about herself. He teased and rubbed and made her tremble as he watched her come apart with just his hand.
Katherine had never felt so beautiful or as desirable as she did under his hungry gaze. She tried to pull him closer, wanted to wrap her arms and legs around him as he pushed inside of her, but Locke had other ideas.
He had her on her knees and pressed her forward until her hands had all but disappeared into the grass. He placed kiss after kiss on her back, along her spine as his hands tantalized her flesh.
She could feel him behind her, his larger form making her feel delicate and feminine in so many ways, but nothing compared to the moment when she felt his legs brush against hers as he widened her stance. She shivered with anticipation, aching for his possession.
Locke put his chest against her back and leaned forward until his cock was cradled between the full swell of her bottom, his hard length pressing into her. His heavy erection throbbed between them and that’s when he canted his hips back and set the tip of his cock between her folds.
Breathless in anticipation, she leaned down and laid her cheek against the grass.
She heard the wild snarl of his breath, felt him push just enough that her body pulled him in. And when she pushed back against him, Locke slipped all the way inside of her until he was balls deep in her body.
“Fuck.” He could barely form the word, but he didn’t need to. She felt him inside of her. She felt him around her.
He was everywhere, touching her, pounding into her body, both of them enjoying the way her curves and his hard angles met and merged.
They were a match. A perfect pair. Mates and lovers. For that moment and forever.
And when Locke came, he took Katherine with him. While waves of pleasure crashed over her, his body filling her, Locke pulled her tight to his front, his arms wrapping her in his embrace. His mouth opened over her neck, his tongue laving her sensitive skin, preparing her for his mark. She refused to be passive in that moment, pushing back against him as he surged forward and tilting her head to the side to give him better access.
Locke sank his fangs into her flesh and sealed their bond until the end of time.
About the Author
Who would have thought that I'd start off as a painfully shy child writing stories and end up as a painfully shy adult writing books and publishing them for others to read? Crazy? That's me!!
When I was a little girl, I read every book I could get my hands on and if I didn't have one available to read, I'd get out my pencils and paper and write down stories and scenes.
Waiting for my mom to finish working, I'd duck into the ladies' break room and use the typewriter. I'd feel like Jessica Fletcher, happily tap, tap, tapping away until I got to 'The End.' Couldn't quite get the flourish after that and end up tearing the paper, but it was cool and scary to sit down and read the book or give it to my friends to read.
Now my 'typewriter' doesn't clack the same way and the I don't even have paper to pull out of it with a nod of satisfaction, but I have the joy and excitement of sharing my characters and books with people all around the world!
I hope you'll enjoy reading my books, because I'm going to keep writing as long as the characters are feeling chatty!
