Rock Me Page 19

by Raven K. Asher

Letting go of the door I take a step back.

“Just go away.” I bite out.

He shakes his head while taking another step forward causing me to take another back. “I’m not just going to go away, Sky. Not this time. I want to know why you keep pushing me away.” He replies.

“If you really want to know just go ask Colton Clark, he knows why.” I clip out as a few tears escape.

“What does he have to do with any of this?” Finn asks, growing frustrated.

“He was your best friend, wasn’t he? Just ask him why we can never be friends again. Ask him why I never want to be within ten feet of any guy for that matter.” I confess.

His brow creases. “What did he do to you, Sky?”

This time my brows crease in confusion.

“As if you don’t know, Finn, don’t act like you don’t. Just go away and leave me alone.” I then yell out as I shove his chest.

I continue to push him until he’s on the other side of the doorway before I grab the door to slam it closed in his face. Once it's shut, I quickly lock it so that he couldn’t get back in.

Finn’s fist pounds loudly on the front door as he begs me to explain myself. “What did he do to you, Sky? You need to tell me.”

I shake my head, blocking him out as I rush upstairs and into my bedroom.

Heading into my bathroom, I strip out of my clothes and step into the shower.

I could still hear Finn’s fist pounding on the door even with the water on. It fills my head as I close my eyes and finally allow myself to break down.

Tears pour from my eyes as I war internally with myself.

Part of me wanted to run down there and open the door back up, but the other part reminded me of why I had kept everyone away.

I wasn’t going to let anyone hurt me again.

  Damn Colton Clark for this.

Damn him for turning me into a shell of myself.

Turning the shower off after the water runs cold, I step out and wrap a towel around myself.

I wipe away the steam on my mirror and stare absently at myself. It was like looking at a picture of my mother. I look exactly like her in every way.

My long black hair, my light gray eyes, and my high cheekbones, they were all exactly like hers had been.

Dropping the towel to the floor, I frown at myself.

I hated the way my body looked. I don’t know why I did, considering it’s exactly what any girl would die for.

I was skinny with just the right curves.

At least I hadn’t had these curves when half of the school had seen me, and if it were up to me, no one would ever see my body.

Groaning, I remind myself that my best friends were going to be dressing me for the party tonight. They had no qualms about showing a little skin.

Without a doubt, I knew they would be pushing my comfort zones.

Wrapping my towel back around myself, I brush out and then dry my hair.

It takes a while to do considering it was halfway down my back.

Just as I finish, the doorbell rings.

I curse looking at the time. It was Jade and Hope coming to get ready for the party.

Cringing, I make my way down the stairs and to the door in just my towel. I hated feeling so vulnerable.

Opening the door, I try my hardest to hide behind it as my best friends walk in.

I go to close the door, but a hand stops me.

“Oh, I forgot to tell you that the boys would be coming with us,” Hope exclaims as she turns to look at me.

As they walk in, their eyes go wide as they spot me in my state of undress.

I grit my teeth before slamming the door shut as Hope and Jade begin to head up to my room without me.

“You guys can grab something out of the fridge to drink if you want. You know where everything is, right, Drew?” I ask while still gritting my teeth.

He nods once before moving on towards the kitchen with Sonny following close behind.

“Did you know how hot she actually looks?” Sonny asks Drew as they disappear from view.

I don’t stay around to listen to his answer. I just want to get this night over with.

Once in my room, I lean against the door as my friends squeal with excitement.

Sighing I muster the best smile that I can.

“Okay, so please don’t be mad at me but I brought the perfect dress for you to wear,” Hope announces as she pulls out a black leather halter dress.

It was short, shorter than anything that I would ever dream of wearing.

“I can’t wear that,” I whisper, not wanting to offend her.

“Yes, you can, and you will. You’ll look fantastic in it. And once you see the boots that go with it you will love it.” Hope singsongs.

“I’m sure I will,” I mutter as I sit down on the edge of my bed.

I knew I was going to be stuck wearing whatever she wanted, she was my best friend, and I would have done anything for her.

“You will look amazing, Sky. I promise.” Jade croons as she sits down beside me.

Moments later I find myself in the bathroom struggling to fit my curves into the leather dress.

I groan as I squeeze myself into it.

Finally getting it on, I glance into the mirror and frown.

Being it was a halter top it didn’t cover much skin, and with the front being low cut my curves looked larger than life.

  I couldn’t go in this; I just couldn’t.

“You look fantastic, Sky. You’re going to be the best looking girl there. I swear I’m jealous.” Hope exclaims as I walk into my bedroom.

“You should wear clothes like this more often, Sky. You look breathtaking.” Jade agrees.

“Guys, I can’t go out like this,” I whine uselessly.

Whatever I said would be for nothing, I would, unfortunately, be leaving like this whether I wanted to or not.

“Yes, you can, now let’s get those boots on and get our butts to that party.” Hope eagerly replies while handing me said boots.

Slipping them on a felt a tiny bit better since they cover my legs to just below where the dress cut off halfway up my thigh.

I still didn’t feel anywhere near comfortable though, not even close.

Grabbing my hand Jade drags me out of my room with Hope trailing close behind.

I look back longing to retrieve my hoodie from my room.

“Holy…” Sonny trails off as we enter the kitchen.

“Doesn’t she look amazing?” Hope asks excitedly while wrapping her arm around his waist.

He nods before looking over to Drew for a moment before turning his attention back towards me as his eyes heat with want.

“What do you think, Drew, amazing, right?” Jade giggles as she wraps her arm around his waist next.

“Yeah, you look great, Sky.” He agrees awkwardly.

“Let’s get going,” I reply, wanting this moment to end.

It was embarrassing and awkward to have my best friend’s boyfriends looking at me the way that they were.

“Let’s go.” Sonny agrees, snapping out of his trance.

“I’m going to follow you guys in my jeep if that’s okay,” I state as we walk out the front door.

I turn back to lock it before looking questioningly to Hope and Jade.

“That’s fine.” Hope answers happily before walking off to get into Drew’s car.

I let out a breath of relief. I didn’t think I could have handled riding in the back of his car with Sonny.

And this way when I wanted to leave the party I could.

Pulling from the driveway, I follow Drew to the party.

I had just a short time to talk myself into getting back out of the jeep. Honestly, I didn’t think I would be able to once we got there.
