We were working when a brick burst through the window. It had a letter on it that said, “Nobody should have found out.” I read it aloud right before I heard gunshots coming from outside.
Everyone ducked down and hid. We all had our guns and vests on already, so we began carefully moving toward the window. Nobody was there, so we looked further. There laid a man with a gun in his hand and blood dripping from the side of his head. We made sure there was no one around and we went toward the man in the grass. He had a note in his other hand that said, “I killed him. Nathan was my partner, but he went too far. I still regret it, though. No one will ever be a better criminal that Nathan Harper, and there is no point of getting myself out of this now.” What they did last may never be known, but what evidence we have of past crimes is morbidly phenomenal. We don’t know if they had allies or plans that will come through after their deaths, so now we are back to the beginning with no ideas or evidence.
Writers and Teachers Involved
There were 212 Writers for this volume, covering Spring and Fall of 2015, so some kids moved from elementaries to middle school or middle school to high school. Nearly 12 percent of students in the TL School Corp were involved in this edition. Mrs. Kreiling’s Creative Writing 1 and 2 classes typed and compiled the Elementary schoolers’ work so you can read it, and edited most of the rest of the book.
