“I’m remembering,” she teased. “Does that mean we stop now?”

His answering groan spoke volumes. “Stop? Woman, are you trying to kill me?”

“Well, maybe I’m a bit fuzzy on the details.” Her hand traveled over his back.

“I hate being away from you, even for a night.” He sighed.

Teasing him, she ran her nails down his back, hearing him gasp at the feather-light touch.

The fresh sea breeze fluttering over her skin added excitement to the happy flashes of anticipation that rippled through her. Lying together on his shirt, feeling the rough sand beneath them, they kissed, their limbs tangling in sweet expectation.

She panted. Her soft, warm lips planted kisses on his neck and chest. His hands slid over her silky skin, running over the sweet curves. Her scent enveloped him, perfume mingling with the salty ocean spray.

  “Love you,” he whispered.

Her answering kiss was echoed by her arms, pulling him over her. “Love you more,” she whispered. She settled back, her hands on his shoulders, dropping kisses on his face.

He gazed into her eyes, dark and half-shut with desire. “Show me.”

The whispered words vanished into the night.

She was aware of the hard sand beneath her back as the sound of the magnificent ocean washed ashore. Then his eyes locked with hers. Time stretched, their pleasure floating them out of reality. Eventually, a wash of tumbling water pulled them back.

They slowly became aware of their surroundings.

“What’s that sound?” a shrill female voice pierced the night. “It sounded like screaming.”

“Aw, Milly, it’s just the ocean,” a man’s voice boomed wearily.

“The sea doesn’t scream,” she objected.

  “It’s probably seagulls.”

Zach clutched Avalon tightly to him. He could see her eyes fill with laughter. “Caw-caw!” she whispered.
