This book was designed and composed in the typeface Bembo by Valerie Brewster, Scribe Typography. In 1929, Monotype attempted to capture the spirit of type engraved on steel punches and cast in metal in the early Renaissance. They used a travelogue written by Pietro Bembo and set by Francesco Griffo as their inspiration. Griffo’s lively refinements to the roman letter give Bembo beauty and legibility. Printed on archival-quality paper at McNaughton & Gunn, Inc.

The Shape of the Journey is also issued in a signed, limited edition of two hundred fifty copies bound in Japanese cloth and paper over boards, and slipcased by the Campbell-Logan Bindery. An additional twenty-six copies have been lettered A to Z, and are hors commerce.
