“You’re right,” I reply, grinning. “Lucky that I’d marry an older man like you.”
He smirks as Sarah and Sandra laugh and then looks over my shoulder at my belly. “Older didn’t seem to matter at the Conservatory,” he whispers against my neck, and I shiver at the memory.
“You were right,” I murmur softly. “I wasn’t going to walk out of there without being pregnant.”
He tilts his head, thoughtful for a moment, and squeezes my belly gently. “You get to pick the next place we go after Natalie is born,” he says, laughing. “Because I don’t think I can handle an only child without someone to distract her!”
Sarah smiles at him, shaking her head. “I don’t even want to think about how many kids you’re going to have running around this house,” she observes. “Don’t you guys know what causes that?”
We look at each other and burst out laughing. “We’ll have to try a little harder to figure it out,” he says, and all I can do is smile.
