Grinning from ear to ear, she mouthed “Puppykins” at him and saw him suddenly frown. She knew he understood what she said, as his cheeks flushed at her pet name for him. He shook his head and pretended to act upset at her.

  She knew better.

Winking at him, she held their wriggling son and repeated the blessing softly. He might be the smaller of the two, but his lungs were mighty! He let out an obnoxious wail that made her teeth grind as she heard Duchess begin to howl in unison with her new family member’s distress. Laughing, she met Enoch’s eyes and made no attempt to hide her words.

“I love you so much and thank God that we met,” she told him as they walked together as a family back to the pew. Duchess sat nearby, her tail thumping wildly in happiness. Cindy sat beside Enoch and rested her head on his shoulder, looking down on the cherubic faces in their arms.

“You are my everything, Princess,” he whispered, kissing her forehead and hesitated. “Although you might have competition now.”

  “Oh?”

“This pretty little jewel in my arms is my sweet princess,” he admitted, staring enraptured at their daughter and then to Cindy where she looked up lovingly into his dark eyes. “You, my love? You are the empress of my heart. You rule our world.”
