“What?” she asked and couldn’t help but smile.
“You’re beautiful, baby girl. I’m blessed to even be near you,” Veedo said, still not removing his eyes from her. She was bad and she knew it.
“Thank you.”
“So how was work?” he asked.
“Work was good. Really a nothing too hard, nothing too much type of day.”
“Where is work?” he smiled. The question made Trish pause. She locked eyes with Veedo and sipped her glass one again.
“I’m a lawyer. That’s all I’m telling you right now,” she nervously said and sipped some more wine. She took her eyes off him, but Veedo already felt something wasn’t right and her reply confirmed his assumption, but he said nothing. Dinner had finally arrived and conversation was light. Trish did most of the questioning, while he gave almost honest answers.
The only time he lied was when she asked him something about the streets. Trish didn’t believe him at all because she already knew a lot about him. Veedo didn’t believe her because, even though she could go for being a lawyer, he didn’t think she was one. He couldn’t remember seeing one lawyer book around her crib when he went over. Veedo figured she had to be a dancer or something that she was shamed about. Little did she know, he wasn’t the judgment kind of guy. Veedo knew how it was in life and respected all grinds.
“So how old are your kids?” Trish asked as she picked over her food.
“Six and nine, my daughter is the oldest.”
“Same mom?”
“Yup, and why don’t you have kids again?” Veedo questioned.
“Haven’t met the correct man yet is the best answer I can give you,” Trish she replied.
After dinner, Veedo took her over to a small bar for drinks and hopefully she would loosen up, open up more, maybe some truth would come out. No kids, Veedo thought about it. She had to be a dancer with the three whips she had. He smiled to himself because he thought he had it figured out, but little did he know, it was more to it than what the eye saw.
“Well, you have now met the right one so call yourself blessed. I feel with you I’ve met the right woman and even though all relationships start off exciting, I feel something true about this friendship,” Veedo spoke. They were at the table awaiting more drinks.
“Is that so? How are you so sure?” Trish locked eyes with him again, playing with her glass.
“I’m just sure. It’s a heart thing, I guess.” Veedo reached across the table and took one of her hands. She jumped a little but allowed him to hold her. “I want you, Ms. Lady, plain and simple.” when he spoke the words, Trish took her eyes from his. She softly pulled her fingers from his hand.
“I can’t say I don’t want the same thing, but I’m not sure if we compatible.” Trish added, “But I swear this feels too good to be true.”
“I agree with you on that. My only disagreement is that I’m sure we’re compatible with each other, and you’re not, but it’s not a problem.”
“How you know is what I’m asking,” Trish stressed.
“Cause we wouldn’t be here now. I would’ve never woke up with you in my arms, better yet, you would’ve never stopped the day we met.”
“I’m saying, that’s a physical attraction that made me stop,” she shot back, playing harder than she actually was.
“Well, I already asked God for you, so at the end of the day, you will be mines,” Veedo said and winked with a smile. Trish smiled also. They ate their ice cream cake and parted ways after a brief hug in the parking lot.
“Can I kiss you?” Veedo asked, holding her small frame. Trish looked up to his face. Veedo leaned down, going in for her lips. She turned her head and patted his chest.
“Next time,” she said and left.
Veedo climbed into his Benz and pulled off into traffic. He had big business to handle. Now that Kash was gone, he was acting right hand man to Monkey. He had to put a lot of things in motion. But first things first, he needed to check one of his trap spots that got robbed last night by some Etheridge niggas. Veedo felt like he was constantly being tried by them niggas and he was about to put an end to it.
Chapter 11
Blue Flame strip club was packed tonight because rapper Yo Gotti was in the building, and when someone famous showed up, the dancers showed out, and every successful street nigga was coming along to stunt as well. That’s why Veedo and Monkey had one part of VIP locked down. It was Monkey’s idea tonight to come out and kick it because Veedo wanted to plot a murder on the low. But Monkey was the boss right now.
They was deep tonight with his whole squad and some hoods. Poonie Man and his brother were there, along with Pat Man and his people. The club was popping this Friday night in Atlanta with all kinds of niggas and hoes. Bankhead Highway was the place to be tonight. Monkey was just laid back on a mission nobody in the club would expect, handed down by Kash.
He smoked blunts that were passed and drank Hennessey out of the bottle. Poonie was loaded on X pills and weed. He was messing with all the strippers that danced for him. Veedo laughed because it was funny and life was lovely, and niggas with money acted any kind of way and got accepted. Yo Gotti had a section of the VIP and the majority of the strippers were in his space. Veedo also spotted Lucky and a few niggas coming through the door. All them niggas were iced out in the fly gear and shoes to match.
The females flocked in behind Lucky, flooding the VIP section even more. It was bad bitches everywhere, all over, Veedo noticed. He was about to reach out and grab a bad lil’ red bone when his phone vibrated a text message from Trish.
“Hey wyd?”
Veedo mistakenly dropped the phone in his lap. His drink had him feeling the effects. He sent her a text back, “At a gathering, wishing I could be around you. What’s going on?”
“Real niggas in the building tonight,” Poonie yelled standing up. Then he roughly gave one of the niggas with them dap. He was rolling up a blunt so most of the weed fell out into the carpet. He pulled out another sack and put more buds in the blunt.
“Order up some mo drinks,” Veedo said loudly to anybody. Monkey saw who he was looking for standing across the room. They made eye contact and then the dude walked out. Moments later, Monkey got up from his spot. He excused himself and walked out of the VIP section. The bathroom was where he found the dude. Monkey walked in and saw the heavy set guy. He pulled out a Glock and passed it to buddy.
The dude took the Glock without any words being spoken. He just left out, leaving Monkey inside. Monkey washed his hands and exited the bathroom also. The club was packed so niggas and bitches were everywhere. Monkey left the club as planned and was picked up by his uncle and one of his uncle’s trusted friends.
“Damn, boy, you stay up to some shit, don’t cha?” his uncle asked while pulling off from the club.
“Gots to know dat,” was all Monkey said.

Meanwhile, Veedo received another text message from Trish. It was a picture of her TV on Love and Hip Hop, showing him that was what she was doing.
“Whatever you doing, I wanna do.”
He sent his reply and started back feeling on the dancer who was grinding on him. Veedo’s dick was rock hard and the stripper felt him because she kept grinding on him. But it wasn’t her that aroused him, it was thoughts of Trish that had his mind captivated. He wanted her badly. it was something about her that did something to him.
One minute the music was blaring through the speakers, the crowd was zoned out, the bartenders were doing their thing keeping everyone happy, and all the dancers were occupied with niggas. Then, all of a sudden, things changed. The next given minute, the crowd went into panic when gunshots erupted.
Bloc. Bloc. Bloc. Bloc. Bloc.
Veedo pushed the stripper off of him as he witnessed the gunman standing over another dude, pumping him with bullets. The gunman tucked his gun and moved with the panicked crowd out the door to the crowded parking lot where he disappeared into the woods. Poonie and his peopl
e were all holding their guns out when they all made it to the car. Veedo wasn’t that stupid. He knew to get off the scene so he jumped into his whip and smashed out, not knowing what the fuck was going on. He hit 285 and headed to the south side. He decided to pull up on Juice and her squad just to see if they had something going on. Plus, Juice kept a few bad bitches around. He still couldn’t help but wonder what that shooting was about. He also was elated that it wasn’t him or his folks that got caught down bad like that.

Monkey was at the condo with all the work and money there. He had the TV on the news channel where they showed the Blue Flame shooting scene on the outside. Dude got shot eight times, murdered in cold blood, and the killer got away as he was paid to. The dude who died was family to Don Kill Sum. Kash wanted to hit Don Kill Sum where it hurt, piss him off. He wanted it to be something perfect, and what better way than killing his peoples in cold blood.
Kash wanted him to get the picture and the frame, too. Plus, he had enough respect for Meco to not start nothing with the mob. This was personal, so that’s how Kash brought it. He knew that once Don Kill Sum found out he was the reason behind his uncle’s death, it would shatter him. and that was the plan from jump. Monkey’s phone started blowing up back to back numbers. The first one he saw was Veedo.
“What’s up, brother?” Monkey answered.
“What the fuck happened in the club? Where you run off to, my nigga? One minute everything is love, the next shit is wild. You straight?” Veedo asked.
“I’m at the condo chilling, ‘bout to box up some of this money. Is the team good?”
“Yeah, everything Gucci. I’m over here on Old National with Juice nem, just chopping it up for a minute. I’ll pull up in ‘bout an hour or so to help you finish if you gone still be there.”
“Most definitely gone be here,” replied Monkey. He cut the TV off and walked into one of the rooms. Money was stacked from the floor to the roof. The room smelled strange, but that was because money had its own type of smell to it.
“Okay, cool, I’ll be there,” Veedo shot back and hung up the phone.
Fuck me, Monkey thought to himself as he looked at the bails of money. He didn’t know where to start but knew he had to begin somewhere, so he took off his shirt, tossed it over a pile of money, walked into the living room, and began to make the boxes up. Was this the position Monkey dreamed to have? Why did Step just switch sides like he did? This could’ve been all them to themselves.
Gangsta probably never would’ve caught his time if Step would have flipped on Bam. But he let greed take him out of what was real. Monkey was happy about how things ended because now he was on top and all of his family was fed. This was everything he asked for and more. Now all he needed was a female to hold him down in ways no female had. He was childless, so the female that got him was the blessed one.
Three hours had somehow eased by and Monkey had four boxes packed with money that was scheduled to be picked up the next day. Kash wanted to go ahead and pay Mr. Play and Chavez the majority of the money owed. That way it would not be a problem. If anything crazy happened, he’d still have a clean face. Loyalty was all Monkey knew. That was how he got fed when he didn’t have a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out of. He had his morals and loyalty, two qualities most people lacked. Soon, he would be a very rich man, and that was all he needed. fuck the rest.
Monkey retired to the living room. It was almost three o’clock when he started playing on Facebook with his phone. He heard the door and then saw it come open. Veedo walked in holding Zaxby’s Wings and Things. It instantly lit up the room with its aroma.
“Brought cha something. I know you ain’t ate shit, nigga.” he gave Monkey the bag. “I already smashed mine.” He walked into the room, which was still packed with money. He wanted to see what Monkey had done. Closing the door, he walked back where Monkey was, already digging into the bag.
“What the fuck happened?” Monkey played as if he wasn’t the one behind everything. “I mean, one minute I’m coming from the bathroom, and the next minute shots popped off. Shid, my nigga, the door was so close so I got up outta there. I knew y’all niggas could handle that shit if it was us. I’m just glad it wasn’t.”
Veedo also took a seat, kicking off his shoes so he could relax before he got to work on fucking with the money he had to box up.
“I’m most definitely glad,” Veedo shot back, and they both chilled out.

She had common sense. She had vision on what was best for her. She had expectations set high for herself. She was hard on herself, being her worst critic, but being her own best friend as well. Trish sat outside of Justin’s waiting on Veedo to pull up. Right now she was going against her better judgment. She was again going on another date with Veedo. She couldn’t get enough of him. He was so correct as a man.
His only downfall was his record, his past, his future. She had thought long and hard about dealing with him and decided that she would watch him for a couple weeks, and if he was clean, then she would go full throttle with him. She would go ahead and tell him she worked for the government. Trish knew that he would feel some type of way about her not telling him the truth.
With a deep breath and exhale, she opened her car door when his Benz pulled up next to her own. Veedo got out clean in black silk slacks with the shirt to match. He wore Mari gators slippers with just a plain watch on his wrist. When she hugged him, he smelled amazing, like he always had, and his strength felt so safe to her.
“What’s up, beautiful?”
“Hey, you look handsome. Your body is nice,” Trish said.
“Aw man, go head on.” Veedo smiled it off, then said, “You’re amazingly beautiful though, I must say.” He took her small hand into his own and they walked into the restaurant to be seated. Trish was on cloud nine in his presence. Veedo was what men should be, so it was hard not to like the person he was.
Her every wish was for him to be clean from the streets so they could work towards being together. but if he was in the streets and had lied to her, then she would continue to mess with him until there was enough evidence on him to put him and whoever was with him behind bars.
Once they sat down at the table, a waiter approached with two roses that he placed on the table in front of Trish.
“For you because I feel you deserve it,” Veedo said. He cut his phone off and also placed it on the table.
“Aww thank you. You’re so sweet, I swear,” she blushed and picked up one of the roses.
“I’m just me, baby girl,” Veedo replied and started looking over the menu to eat something. He didn’t notice Nikki until she walked past his table with her daughter. They both were headed toward the restroom. When she locked eyes with Veedo, Nikki stopped with a slight smile on her cute face.
“What’s up, V?”
“Nikki, what’s going on? Let me introduce you to my friend. This is Trish. Trish, this is Nikki, my home girl.”
“Hey, how are you?” Trish she spoke with a smile. She and Nikki shook hands.
“Well it’s nice to meet you and hope I see you often,” Nikki told Trish, then added, “Let me get this girl to this bathroom.” She walked away and left Veedo at the table.
“She’s nice,” Trish told him once they were gone. She was also reading from a menu, getting ready to order up something to eat.
Dinner was great, they laughed and joked and got to know each other a little bit better than they already had, and with each moment that passed and time was spent with this man, Trish found herself falling for his charm.
She honestly felt as if they could make the perfect couple, but this one issue stood in their way. One issue that she hope like hell wasn’t anything serious because what they had going on felt so good that it scared her knowing that this all could end in a pretty bad way and that was something she didn’t want right now.
Trish knew that she deserved to be happy because she wasn’t a bad person. She wasn’t a bullsh
it ass female that played games with men’s emotions and led a man down the wrong lane. She was respectful. She was faithful. And most of all, she was loyal to the core if she was in a relationship, and loyal to her friends, too. Not everyone got her loyalty because, those that didn’t show it towards her, got nothing in return.
Outside at their cars, while in an embrace with Veedo, Trish locked eyes with a man she thought she’d seen before but couldn’t place his face. He was with the same female Veedo introduced her to. He quickly looked away and climbed into a car with Nikki and three kids. Trish never took her eyes off them.
“I enjoyed every second of your time, beautiful. I really mean that, and I so thank you. Okay?” Veedo said, looking down at her pretty face.
“I enjoyed us as well, sir, I must say.” As soon as Trish spoke the words and looked up to his face, his lips met her own. She was in total shock but also captive in a lustful moment. She found herself holding his neck as she nicely kissed him back, feeling tingles run up and down her spine.
“Have a peaceful night, Veedo,” she whispered, feeling light-headed. She didn’t want to let him go.
“Call me when you get home, lemme know you safe,” Veedo said while walking backwards, still looking at her.
“I will, I promise,” replied Trish, and they both climbed into their cars.
