  Chapter 1

  Saylor

My feet dangle in the water as I float on my board and watch the waves coming in. My life has always been based around surfing. I grew up in the water, and it’s the only place that calms me. I feel closer to my mom here, and I think that plays a major role in my surfing. I know she’s out there somewhere protecting me and guiding me.

Lowering myself to my stomach on the board, I paddle out, diving under the waves as I go. I know I need to get to work, but I just need one more wave before I go. Turning my head, I glance behind me and grin when I see the perfect set coming in. I paddle hard, and when the time is right, I shove myself up and ride the wave. Euphoria washes over me every time I go out, and this time it doesn’t fail me. I ride the wave until it breaks and I jump off my board into the water.

Grabbing my board, I head toward the shore. I’m late for work. My boss is going to have my ass for it, too. But how could I not catch a few waves before heading in? Scooping my Billabong shirt out of the sand, I shake it out and head toward my truck. I pass a few locals on my way, throwing them a shaka as I go. Unstrapping my leash, I get my board loaded and start securing it when I hear someone calling my name. Looking over my shoulder, I smirk when I see Wiley heading my way.

“What the hell are you doing up so early?” I ask as he gets closer to me. I finish getting my board secured before I pull my shirt over my head and grab my shorts from the front seat.

“Couldn’t sleep. Where you running off to?” he asks, leaning his tanned body against the side of my truck.

“Work. I’m already late, and I can’t afford to get fired,” I tell him as I wiggle myself into my jean cut offs. Grabbing my tennis shoes, I sit on the front seat and pull them on. “Is it still okay if I come by later?” Wiley smirks at me, those dark brown eyes glistening in the sunlight. Wiley is a good friend of mine. Okay he’s more than that. He’s a fuck buddy of sorts. We both agreed that we don’t want anything more than just casual sex but he’s still one of my best friends. Wiley and I have known each other since I was six, and he’s just always been around.

“Yeah. The pool will be ready, you can work out.” He smirks at me.

“Is that all I’m good for?” I pretend to be offended, which doesn’t work, at least not with Wiley. He reaches for me and pulls me out of the truck and into his arms.

“You know you’re good for a lot more, babe. I just like fucking with you.”

“Fucking with me or fucking me?” Wiley laughs, throwing his head back.

“Both. Get your pretty ass to work before you get fired,” he says before pressing a kiss to my forehead. When he releases me, I turn and climb in my truck before tossing him a wave as I speed out of the parking lot.

My cell goes crazy on the seat next to me, but I ignore all calls. I’m not much on talking on the phone anyway, but when it doesn’t stop, I reach for it. Picking it up, I balance it on my shoulder and reach for a protein bar and tear it open with my teeth before taking a big bite.

“Yeah?” I mumble around the big bite I just took.

“Saylor, please tell me you aren’t eating just that damn protein bar for breakfast.”

I giggle and swallow before I speak. “I know, Dad, I need more than that. I’m in a hurry, I’m late.” Taking another bite, I push the gas and speed down the road praying I don’t get pulled over, but when I pass the asshole on the right, I know I will be. Blue and red lights flash behind me as I curse to myself.

“Dinner tomorrow? Debbie is bringing her daughter.” I fucking hate Debbie. Debbie is my dad’s new girlfriend and he knows I can’t stand her, but he likes to play the whole family thing up.

“Yeah, I’ll be there. Dad, I gotta go, I’m about to get a ticket.” Pulling the phone from my ear, I veer off the road and toss it in the seat.

“Please don’t be Memphis. Please don’t be Memphis,” I mumble under my breath as I grab for my license and insurance. Right when I look over I want to cry.

  “Hey, Memphis!”

“Saylor. You late again?” he asks with a smirk. I can’t help but smile at him.

“Aren’t I always?” I say, passing him my license and insurance. Memphis doesn’t take it, just waves his hand through the air before leaning in my window.

“Don’t need it. I know it’s good. Why haven’t you called me?”

I have to force myself to suppress an eye roll and smile politely as I think of an excuse. “Just been busy. Ben has me working overtime,” I lie to him. Memphis and I have dated before and we hang out off and on, but I just don’t see us going anywhere.

  “You’re avoiding me, Saylor.”

“I’m sorry, Memphis. Really. Ben has been working me more often. I think it gets his dick hard to watch me struggle, and add my dad and Debbie and I feel like I’m drowning.”

Memphis nods his head before he leans in closer, wrapping his hand around my neck and pulling me closer to him.

“I get it. Just don’t forget about me, okay?”

Giving him a soft smile, I nod my head and pretend like I give a shit when he presses his lips to mine. I let him kiss me but wait until he pulls away to smile again.

“I’d never forget you, Memphis. Can I go?” I ask, trying to not sound as excited as I am to get away from him. He pulls back and waves me on. I flip him a quick wave and speed off, trying to get my ass to work before I really do get fired.

  Chapter 2

  Triton

I run my hand through my hair, frustrated by everything that’s happening in my life.

“You wanna know why? Because I can’t fuckin’ afford it right now, that’s why!” She doesn’t even blink as I sc
ream at her; she just stares at me like I’m the biggest piece of shit there is. Hell, I might fucking be!

“You’re just an ass!” she snaps, making me laugh. Neo walks over, slapping a hand on my shoulder as he glares between the two of us.

“What the hell is he bein’ an ass about now?” he teases, knowing the tension between me and P has been running high these days.

“He thinks he’s God and can pick and choose what I fucking do all the time,” P snaps. I shake my head and look away before I lose my patience with her.

“She wants to be a surfer now. Two weeks ago it was a skateboarder, and then a week before that she wanted to fuckin’ sing!” Tugging at my hair, I feel like I’m slowly losing my goddamn mind with this girl. Piper is sixteen and hell on earth. When our parents died a few years back, Piper came to live with me. It wasn’t an ideal situation, seeing as I’m now the fucking VP of this chapter of the Soulless Bastards MC. As Piper gets older, the harder it becomes. Let alone the burden of why she has to live with me sits on my goddamn shoulders.

“You’re a goddamn kid, Piper. Stop givin’ him hell and do what you’re told,” Neo snaps at her. She usually listens to him over me.

“I just want to take surfing lessons. That’s it. I don’t know why he has to be such a dick about it.”

Watching Piper cross her arms over her chest and glare at me, I smirk. “Find some that don’t cost two thousand a goddamn month and I might let you. You think I’m payin’ that much for you to sit on your ass like the skateboard shit?” I chuckle, pissing her off a little more. Neo chuckles next to me before slapping a hand on my shoulder.

“You’re on your own, brother,” he says before walking away. I flip him off and look back to Piper.

“Look, P. I’m doin’ the best I can right now. Just help me out a little, yeah?”

“You know what, Triton? I wish I never had to come here. I hate living with you, and I’m tired of being stuck with your whores while you do whatever the fuck it is you do! Why do you stick me with them anyway? Is that what my future job should be?”

Grabbing her by the upper arm, I jerk her closer to me. “I’m sick of this shit! I’m fuckin’ tryin’ here, Piper!” Releasing my hold on her, I drag a hand through my hair and turn to walk away.

“I hate you, Triton! I don’t know why I have to be here!”

Turning to look back at her, I shake my head.

“Would you prefer to go to a goddamn foster home? I can fuckin’ arrange that!” I watch her eyes fill with tears before she turns and runs out the front doors of the clubhouse. I sigh and head back toward the kitchen.

“You okay?” Trinity, one of the girls here, asks.

“I don’t fuckin’ know, Trin. I can’t handle her. The older she gets, the harder it is. I’m not cut out to be a parent.” Leaning against the wall, Trin passes me a beer.

“She’s growing up and changing. Hormones and all that shit. I don’t mind talking to her if you need me to,” she says sweetly.

I take a long pull from my beer and nod my head. “You’ve done a lot already for her. I can’t thank you enough for that, Trin.”

“Like I said, I don’t mind. I have a little sister, too. Maybe they could meet up and talk. She’s older but it might do her some good.”

“Please tell me she’s a surfer,” I tease.

  “She is, actually.”

“No shit? P wants to take lessons.”

“I can talk to her. We have dinner with our dad tomorrow night,” she says with a smile.

“Thanks, Trin. How did I never know you had a sister?” I ask, cocking my head to the side.

“We don’t talk much. We live completely different lives. She likes to surf, I like to suck cock,” she says with a laugh. She moves toward me slowly when I grab her around the back of the neck and pull her into me. I lean down and run my tongue up her neck, making her squirm.

“And you do an amazin’ job at it too, darlin’.” Sucking her flesh into my mouth, she moans and my cock hardens. Shoving her down to her knees, she goes willingly with a giggle and reaches for my zipper.

“You might as well do what you do, yeah?”

Trin nods her head and pulls my cock free. Her soft wet lips wrap around the tip just as I drop my head back and let out a hiss. Trin sucks me in deep into her throat, bobbing and sucking. My hand tightens in the back of her hair, guiding her up and down my length.

“Goddamn, Trin,” I hiss as her tongue dances around the head of my cock. My breathing becomes sporadic as my cock begins to pulse in her mouth. A few more sucks and I’m coming down the back of her throat. Trinity sucks until there isn’t a drop left in me. She pulls away and stands with a smile, wiping the back of her hand over her mouth. I grin before I lean down and kiss her roughly.

“Thanks for that. I needed the stress relief.” Trin smiles before turning and going back to what she was doing before I came in. I head back out into the main room to find Neo.

“That shipment comin’ in through port authority tomorrow?”

Neo glances at me over his bottle of whiskey and nods. “You gonna be okay to go meet it?”

“Hell yeah. I wanna talk to you about somethin’ though,” I tell him before sitting in the chair across from him. His eyes meet mine, and I can’t believe the words that are about to come out of my mouth.

“I’m thinkin’ about findin’ someone to adopt P.”

His eyebrows shoot up and disbelief flickers across his face. “What the fuck, Triton? She’s your family!”

“She hates me, brother. I can’t keep goin’ like this. Always fightin’ with her and shit. She runs the fuck off and I don’t know where the fuck she is. I can’t be a parent, Neo. I’m not cut out for this shit.”

“You better think long and hard about that, brother. She’s your goddamn blood, man. That should mean somethin’!”

“It does but fuck! What else can I do? She doesn’t fuckin’ listen, Neo. I’ve never been a fatherly type of person. This is me! I’d much rather go out and shoot a motherfucker in the head! How the fuck am I supposed to deal with all this shit?”

Neo takes a long pull from the whiskey before passing it to me. “Maybe you should talk to Blade, man. Maybe he can help you out there.”

Nodding my head, I take a long pull from the bottle and close my eyes. I don’t know what the fuck I’m doing with that girl aside from ruining her life.

Not like I haven’t done that already.

  Chapter 3

  Saylor

“Just fuck off, Ben! I know I’m late, but I’ll catch up!” It’s not like we have so many people coming in here for breakfast. The place is nearly empty. I work for Ben at the Sea Shack. It’s a bar at night but a restaurant during the day. It’s a pain in my ass job but it pays so I have no choice.

“You’re always late, Saylor. I’m going to fire you one day,” he smarts off as I walk past him, tying my apron around my waist. I stop in front of him, cock my hip out and rest my hand on it, glaring at him.

“Are you really? Who would you flirt with then? Amanda?” Fluttering my lashes, Ben responds with a chuckle and shake of the head.

“You’re right. I wouldn’t have such a sweet ass to watch all day, but I mean it. You need to get your ass in here on time,” he tells me once more.

I nod my head and turn to head out the door when he slaps his hand across my ass. I get to work when I see the girl in the corner booth crying her eyes out again. I fucking hate to see her in here like that. This is probably the fifth time in a few weeks that’s she’s been here. Amanda usually goes and sits and talks with her, taking her something to eat. I place an order for a burger and fries and finish refilling the few people’s coffee that are still milling about. When the food is ready, I grab it and a Coke and head toward her table. I slide in across from her and set the food in front of her. She looks up but doesn’t smile or say a word.

“What the hell do you want?” she finally asks when I don’t move.

What the hell? Little brat, no wonder she’s always crying if she acts like that toward people.

“Thought you might want something to eat,” I say, motioning toward the food in front of her.

“That’s not what Amanda makes me eat.”

“I bet she slaps a goddamn salad down in front of you with a bowl of fruit, huh?” I see her sad blue eyes slowly start to clear and a small smile cross her face.

“She does and tells me I have to drink water.”

I roll my eyes and grab the ketchup, squirting some onto her plate before grabbing a fry and dipping it. Popping it in my mouth, she watches me before she does the same.

“What’s your name?” I ask, grabbing another one.

  “Piper.”

“I’ve seen you in here before. You’re always crying. If you ever want to talk, I’m a good listener,” I tell her even as I hear the table behind me calling my name. “Shut up, David! I’ll be there in a minute!” Piper laughs and it makes my heart swell.

“Thank you. It’s just my brother is a pain in the ass.” Ah, family problems. I know how that can be to a point.

“I don’t have a brother, but I do have a sister. They are annoying and never understand you.” Piper nods her head, taking a big bite of her burger.

“He complains about everything. He gets mad about everything I want to do. Most days I think he hates me,” she says, her tone saddening. I reach across the table and grab her hand, squeezing gently.

“I’m sure he doesn’t hate you.”

“I’m sure he does. He told me that he will put me up for adoption since he has custody of me. Plus I might be a pain in the ass sometimes.”

I don’t know how to respond to that. I’ve never had that problem before.

“First problem, he’s a guy. They always have something up their asses.” Piper giggles louder this time. “Guys are as hormonal as girls. How old are you?”

  “Sixteen.”

“See, you are going through things too as a woman. You two are probably just butting heads is all. I’m sure he’ll come around.” I wink at her and shove out of the booth when she stops me.
