Many sites were located in places like Switzerland, and Belgium.. The Russian defector indicated caches were also located in the US, and named Montana, New York, possibly Texas and California, but specifically, the Brainerd, Minnesota area.
Congressional committees looked at this information, and taking it seriously, discussed sending FBI agents to Brainerd, to look around. The FBI visited Brainerd and looked around, but had no specific locations, as to where the caches might be found. The caches in the US, were said to possibly contain munitions, equipment, and/or material involving a weapon of mass destruction. It was felt the caches were so old, that anything contained would no longer be dangerous, bills were presented in Congress, but nothing came of it.
