When we pull in the driveway, just like every night, he’s out cold. I carry him in the direction of his room. I lay him down as she changes him one last time, then we both tuck him in his crib.
Now it’s Mommy and Daddy time. After a quick dinner together, we are sitting on the couch, wrapped in each other’s arms.
“Do you ever miss it?”
“Miss what?”
“Sailing day in and day out? Going out to tropical places for weeks upon weeks.”
“Hell no, I don’t. I have all I’ve ever wanted right here in this house. I don’t miss it, I have the best of both worlds.”
“Are you sure?”
“Absolutely! I love you and I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else every night but here with my family.”
“Okay.”
I lean down, planting a passionate kiss to her lips.
“Speaking of my family, let’s go make more babies.”
Scooping her up in my arms, I start walking toward our bedroom as she giggles, a sound I’ll never get sick of hearing.
