All characters in this book are fiction and figments of the author’s imagination. No part of this story is based on any true events or anyone’s life. If any MC names are used by any real or true person it is coincidental and in no way based on them or any real-life human being living or not.

  Dedication

This book is dedicated to my baby sister, Kayce Kyle, who always believes in me and keeps me going. There have been several times I’ve wanted to give up, throw in the towel and quit. This book is one she believed in and encouraged me to write and get out there for your reading enjoyment. My sister is not only a very talented writer, she is also my best-friend—my Cameron. I love you sissy, and I can’t wait to see what all life has in store for you and takes you.

  All my love,

  Your big sister ~Liberty

  Note to Readers

I want to let everyone know this story takes place in the 1980’s. If you see any timeline errors I apologize ahead of time. I tried to make it as 80’s friendly as possible. There were no cell phones, plenty of crazy hair, and some places and shows you may– or may not have heard of referenced in this novel. I hope you enjoy Charlee and all of her crazy antics. Happy Reading!

Have you ever had one of those ah-ha moments in your life? For me that came in the form of a boy on the verge of becoming a man—someone who would change my life indefinitely. I never thought at the age of fifteen I would find my eternal love, but he was like a rattlesnake, he jumped up out of nowhere and bit me in the ass. Before him I thought my life was perfect, but oh how wrong I was. I thought I had everything life could give me. I had the perfect folks, a wonderful loving brother, but it all changed in an instant. A moment of time that will change the course of my life—Forever.

Life can change at the snap of your finger. Before I joined the DreamCatchers MC I was just existing. After them, I was learning to live. Then I met her—Charlee…and now, I know what living is supposed to be like. I’ve learned to live in the moment and never take life for granted. She changed everything for me. She gave me a home, a family and a love that you only hear about from the older generation. You know, where they sit in their rocking chairs and talk about how they fell in love, how they raised their children together, and how life wasn’t worth living without the other. This is us, my Charlee girl and me.

Sit back and hold on tight…this is our story, it isn’t all pretty—full of roses and sunshine, but it’s ours in all its messed-up glory.

We’re getting out of school early today since it was the last day of the school year. I’d tried to call my folks from the school office, but no one answered the calls. They are never not here to pick me up, if they can’t make it a brother is always sitting on his bike, front and center in the parking lot. It’s a long walk home, but it looks like my legs are going to be getting quite the workout today. I look for my best-friend Cameron and see she’s already in her dad’s car and they’re leaving the parking lot. Yep, these boots are made for walking and it looks like I’m putting that theory to the test.

It takes me an hour to make it home, in the meantime I notice every car, every person and I’m keeping my eye on them. You never know if someone is lurking in the shadows, biding their time to make you the next victim on the five o’clock news. That won’t be me, ever, I’ve always been aware of my surroundings, my pop and brother have always taught me to keep my eyes and ears open at all times.

As I walk up the driveway I notice Ma’s car is here, but Pop’s bike is missing…hmmm, strange. I reach up and grab the key on the top of the doors edge and make my way inside. I’ve never needed my own key seeing as I was never alone to need one. I walk in and already know something is wrong. There’s what you’d call organized chaos everywhere, I walk through the house calling out for them, no one answers. I go into their room and see clothes strung everywhere. What the hell is going on?

I walk into my pop’s office, and that’s when everything I know is changed forever…

It is summer break after my sophomore year of high school, when I meet my salvation, from my tragic world. You see, my parents are major players in the MC world, and know the ins and outs of almost every club. My pops is the President of the 'DreamCatchers MC' and my Ma is the matriarch that everyone adores. My brother became a 'Probee' as the club likes to call those who are interested in joining the MC. My parents are trusted and valued among most clubs and feared by others.

My parents are brutal when they have to be, but to me, they are just my Ma and Pops. They never let me down, always attend school plays, soccer tournaments, school dances, and even when I got breasts. My dad literally sat me down with a science book and explained everything that was fixing to happen to my body. You want to talk about humiliating, I didn't get the birds and the bee's, I got the period and breast talk!

Now, my older brother accidentally introduced me to the world of sex when I was twelve years old. I walked into his room at the clubhouse to show him I had won the scholarship money to attend the summer program at the art museum downtown. I love to draw and paint. When I walked into his room it was to
see a 'club bitch' riding my brother and screaming out her pleasure.

I dropped my scholarship paperwork and screamed, running from his room. I ran the whole way home and refused to talk to Gunner for two weeks afterward. He said those were the worst two weeks and I broke his heart, well, I don't have to tell you he broke my eyes—and ruined a good hour of my life making for some good therapy sessions in the future.

So, oh well if he was upset I didn't talk to him until I could stop visually seeing his intimate session with that bitch. See the whore he was with hated my Ma and used to tease me about taking my pops away from me and Ma. I hated that cow! After I told Ma why I was really mad at Gunner, that bitch Susie was never seen again. I can't tell you if she is looking up at the sky, or if she’s actually walking the earth. See, Gunner is fifteen years older than me, I was literally an "oh shit" baby. But they never made me feel like the mistake that I feel I am. They embrace me, and love me with everything they have.

That's why, when I came home from school and found all their stuff missing, and a key to dad's safe inside an envelope addressed to me, I freaked the fuck out. Inside the safe was a letter addressed to me telling me where 'a lot' of money was. I went into an almost coma-like, vegetative state for about an hour, before I called my brother Gunner. Only Gunner didn't answer the clubhouse phone, the new 'Probee' Country did. His voice was so familiar, but I couldn't place him. I asked him to have Gunner call me once he was available. I didn't however, tell him it was an emergency so it wasn't until two weeks later when my brother got in touch with me.

I can't drive, because not only do I not have a license, I’m not old enough yet. I have money, but have run out of food. I have been wracking my brain trying to think of how to come up with the appropriate solution. I don't want to alert my friends or their parents that my folks have split and left me to fend for myself, in case they happen to come back. Instead, I cleaned up the house from the tornado my parents left behind in their rush from packing up what they had decided to take with them.

I try to make the house as normal as possible because I want to be prepared if someone happens to stop by. I am sitting on the couch watching 'The Price is Right' and I hear several motorcycles coming around the corner. I know for a fact one of them is Gunner, I would know his bike anywhere. I'm the only girl he's ever allowed on the back of his bike. He says it's because I'm the only one special enough, all the other women in his life try to suck the life out of him... literally.

Well, at least that's what I heard him say to Ma and Pops. I have locked the house up tighter than Fort Knox because I hate being by myself. I have a very active imagination. I hear every creak and noise in this house and I can make a scary story out of them. Then I freak myself out and can't sleep! I hear as the bikes pull into the driveway and I am mentally preparing myself in case Gunner doesn't know Ma and Pops have split. I know he is gonna be pissed off and when Gunner is mad, my ears hurt, and I get a headache.

I see the knob turn then stop and then the banging on the door starts. "Open up Twerp, I know school’s out. Let me in," Gunner says in his demanding voice. I know he's messing around with me but he won't be for long. Once I let him in I know the house is gonna be full of his anger and yelling. I stand and walk toward the door to open it, I breathe in and out as I inch closer to the door. I open the top and then the bottom lock so slowly, you can hear the clicking of both as they unlatch. My brother looks me up and down for any reason that might have caused me to have taken so long to open the door. I smile at him to try and reassure him everything is alright. His look goes from worry to irritated quickly.

"What the hell Twerp? You gonna leave your big bro out here in the heat banging on the door like a stranger while you take your time letting me in? What's up with that?" You may be wondering why my brother doesn't have a key. My Ma says, once you move out you're a guest, and once you're a guest, you have to be let in—you don't have the privilege to come and go. She didn’t want to give him the privilege to come in and eat and do laundry without being told it’s okay. I turn around to look and see if anything’s noticeable to the naked eye, and can see that there are a lot of things missing from the house. I'm not ready to have this conversation with Gunner in front of his brothers. It's embarrassing enough that my parents left me, but to announce it to the club is devastating. I have grown up admiring some of these guys, and learning what I know about bikes and rules of the club, and what is expected of an old lady or any member who's born into the club-life or chooses the club-life.

How shameful to let these guys know I'm not important enough for my parents to stick around for, or even to take with them. I look at Gunner and the guys to see who's with him and notice a new Probee. He's gorgeous and not much older than me. He has sandy blonde hair and dark chocolate brown eyes, eyes that I want to dive into and let him see all my secrets. He’s built, not as big as my brother, but he has muscles that stretch his shirt and jeans to their limits. He’s at least six feet four inches tall, and I’d describe him as built like a brick house. He has on his Prospect cut and has tribal art going all the way down his right arm in a sleeve. It's very detailed and I can't make out the exact details where he’s covered in clothing. His left bicep has a snake coming out with the head open and the tongue striking out at you. It is a 3-D image and gives the illusion it’s coming right for you. I can't take my eyes off him. He is a piece of art himself.

I lose myself in him, viewing him from top to bottom getting lost in a daydream, thinking of what I would love to be doing to his naked body. That is until Gunner clears his throat very loudly for all to hear. I snap my head up and am eye to eye with the Probee. I know right away he is aware of my perusal. He gives me a sideways smirk and then winks at me as he returns the favor, viewing me from head to toe. I don't blush easily, so I hope that's not what he is hoping to get. I am a club members daughter after all. There isn't much I haven't seen or done that I shouldn't have at my age. What can I say? I am all club.

My parents and brother are free spirits, and don't believe in shielding me from life. I could be standing here naked in front of all these men and it wouldn't faze me in the least. Gunner grabs my attention when he says, "Charlee meet our new Probee, Country. Country, my beautiful baby sister, Charlee. Where's Pops, Charlee? I need to run some club business by him, we just got back from our run and VP says he hasn't been around and isn’t answering the phone. He sent some guys to drive by and his bike's not been in the driveway."

"Ummm...Gunner, can we maybe go in the sunroom and talk? Just you and me for a couple minutes?” Gunner gives me a strange look and nods his head up and down, and this is where my life changes from everything I've ever known.

I follow Gunner into the sunroom and sit on the wicker chair and wait as he scans the room, looking out the windows into the backyard. He knows something is wrong and is trying to put it together before I shock him. After a few minutes of him assessing the room he turns and looks at me, giving me the once over, before finally settling down in the outdoor recliner that Pops decided he had to have out here to drink his coffee and read the paper before heading out and starting his day. Gunner's legs start shaking up and down as they've always do whenever he sits down waiting for news of any type. Finally, he's had enough when he speaks loudly.

"Enough! Start already, Twerp." So, this is where I turn Gunner’s life and mine upside down.

"Well, two weeks ago, I came home from school and things were a complete disaster inside of the house. I mean Gunner, you could barely walk through the front door. There were literally clothes thrown everywhere, all of them Ma and Pop's. All the expensive stuff was still here and undisturbed. I went into my room and nothing was messed up, it was still as clean as it was that morning when I left for school. But I noticed a note sticking out under my pillow so I grabbed it. In mom's handwriting it said, go to ‘Pops’ desk and get the envelope addressed to you’. So that's what I did."

"Wait up! Why the fuck didn't you call me? I would have been here
and helped you figure all this shit out! This is bullshit, Charlee. What was in the note on Pops’ desk?"

"Well, if you'll let me finish talking without interrupting me I might be able to tell you everything." I raise my eyebrow waiting for him to respond. Of course, he nods his head at me to finish.

"Anyways, as I was saying," I draw out the word saying to make a point to my overly anxious brother.

"I went to the desk and found the envelope and opened it. Inside was a key to Pops’ safe he has hidden under his desk, so I used the key and opened it up. Now, I did attempt to call you, but at that time, you were in church as I was informed by the Probee that answered the club phone. Then I was also informed it might be awhile till I heard back from you. Since usually after church you go on runs, I wasn't waiting in case the letter told me what the hell was going on. I grabbed the paper and it led to a secret wall in the basement that Pops had put in when the house was built. If you remember them telling us the story, the contractor was upset ‘cause no one in Texas ever has basements, but Pops told him he would have one or he would hire another contractor. Anyways, back to the point, I followed the map Pops drew and went in search of the place that was indicated on the map. It showed me exactly where the fake wall was. I pushed on the extended piece of wall and voila, the door opened right up, so I went inside and used my flashlight that I keep in my pocket ‘cause it's dark inside. Then I saw a string hanging from a light bulb and pulled it and it works, it lit up the entire room.” I take a breath and continue my story.
