A Soulless Year Three Page 21

by Eva Brandt

When Cain was done, he kissed her one last time. And then, it was Sariel’s turn. He chose to take Delilah from behind. By now, she’d come at least five times and she couldn’t hold herself upright any longer, so together with the others, I helped her out. From my angle, I could catch a glimpse of Sariel’s prick as it disappeared into Delilah’s body, and the sight went straight to my cock.

Michael was last. He pulled her into his lap, like I had earlier. His hold on her was gentle, almost worshipful, and when she cried, he licked her tears.

Unlike the rest of us, Michael didn’t pull out of her, not even after he came. Instead, we all returned, surrounding her, bathing her in our power and our magic.

It was like the first time we’d had sex with Satan, yet not. It was like the first moments we’d spent with Delilah St. John, but so different. And I loved her so much it hurt.

She came one last time, and in her release, I felt the final echoes of her fears shatter and fade. I felt our bond tighten and wrap around us, possessive, but real. She loved us too and that was why she’d given us another chance, even if we hadn’t truly earned it.

When it was all over, we collapsed on the small hotel bed, curling against one another in a pile of bare skin and feathers. For the longest time, we just lay there, taking in the scent of sweat and lust still lingering in the air, reveling in the sound of Delilah’s breath.

Yeqon was the one who shattered the moment. “Lila? What now?”

“Now… I don’t know about you, but I’ve always wanted a home of my own. So it’s time to go house-hunting.”

I shared a look with the others. After having lived for millennia in the service of angels and demons, house-hunting sounded like such a domestic concept. I loved it.

“That sounds great, Lila,” Michael said, obviously agreeing with me. “Tomorrow.”

  “Tomorrow,” Cain echoed her.

  “Tomorrow,” she repeated.

It was more than just a word. It was a promise and an echo of the pact we’d sealed today, through our bodies. I had no doubt that there would be challenges ahead, but together, we’d be able to handle it. We wouldn’t let anyone separate us, never again.

  Epilogue

The house was small, but cozy.

Demogorgon would have liked to say that he’d been the one to find it, but the truth was that asshole Michael had tracked it down on the Internet. He’d been against his mistress coming to live here, just on principle, but Delilah hadn’t listened.

She didn’t listen to him much, lately. How frustrating.

“Don’t pout,” Delilah said, petting his serpentine head. “I know having this form isn’t ideal, but I’m sure we’ll come up with something to give you your real body back, in time.”

They were seated at the kitchen table, with Delilah drinking a cup of coffee and Demogorgon watching over her, like he usually did. Her lovers were for once, not present. Demogorgon was pretty sure they’d gone hunting—or at least, so he hoped. Supplies were getting scarce, and he couldn’t allow his mistress to be in any discomfort because of her males’ inability to care for her.

He didn’t say that to her, though. Instead, he tried to reassure her. “Thank you, Mistress, but that’s not what I want. All I wish is to remain by your side. I just don’t trust them.”

Delilah laughed. “I’d have been disappointed if you had. Thank you for worrying about me, but I promise I’ll be fine.”

She couldn’t make him that promise and keep it. There were still so many things that could go wrong, so many things that were uncertain. But Demogorgon didn’t have the heart to insist.

She seemed happier lately, happier than she’d been in The Infernal Realm. Demogorgon had known his mistress for millennia and had worshipped her at a time when she’d been very different from her current form. But even if Satan had changed, he found that he didn’t mind it.

In a way, he hadn’t been wrong when he’d decided to give them a chance. They did love her. Or at least they thought they did. Demogorgon didn’t understand love, so he didn’t know to which extent his mistress’s power had affected them.

But to him, that didn’t matter. They just had to do their jobs and serve his mistress.

As if summoned by his thoughts, the males entered the kitchen, all carrying bags of foodstuffs. “Welcome back,” Delilah said. “Was it that busy in town?”

“Not really,” Cain replied. “It’s just that these guys are terrible at regular socializing with humans.”

“To be fair, I never thought I’d have to pretend to be a mortal,” Yeqon said. “I expected it to be easier, considering how much we’ve watched them.”

“I wouldn’t worry about it too much,” Delilah replied. “At most, they’ll think we’re a polyamorous family taking refuge from people who can’t accept our love. And that’s not very far from the truth, is it?”

No, it wasn’t. Demogorgon took in the smiles on the faces of the males and thought that maybe, just maybe, this could all work out.

Ha. He’d won that bet with TB in the end. Next time he saw that damn familiar, he’d make sure to point out that his mistress and her males were still the best.

  The Infernal Realm

“My lady, please forgive us. We did not mean to slight you. We were in error.”

Alyssa Morningstar, formerly Michaelis, crossed her legs and watched the simpering demon in front of her. She was tired. Over the last couple of days, she’d been in charge of the audiences with the rogue demons who’d attacked The Mortal Realm. It had been her idea, because she still deemed the whole thing her fault and her lovers had many other things to do. But it still frustrated her.

“I’m aware you were in error. That’s why you’re here. To be punished for your mistake.”

She flicked her fingers and a group of satyrs approached. “Take him away. To the pits.”

The demon bellowed and cried out in protest, but couldn’t do anything about it. Alyssa watched the satyrs drag the creature away and wished she had a remote control like the one in Click. This part of being a queen of Hell was really irritating. It would have been very useful to be able to fast-forward through it.

As she thought this, the shadows stirred, and the Grim Reaper walked into her throne room. “You don’t really want that kind of power, Alyssa,” he said.

“No, I suppose I don’t. I’ve just gotten rid of a power I hated. The last thing I need is a new one.”

If the avatar of Death had had a human mouth, he’d have probably smiled. “You did well, though. I’m proud of you.”

“Are you? You love playing games with souls, Professor Grim. Perhaps a little too much. It put my daughter at risk. I won’t allow it, not again.”

“I don’t control the future, Alyssa,” the Reaper told her, “but I can tell you this. If it’s in my power, I’ll protect your daughter.”

Alyssa believed him, but still, a small trickle of doubt lingered in her heart. “Will you have to? Will you have to protect Hope from Delilah?”

The Grim Reaper laughed. “Oh, Alyssa. Of course not. In that regard, you have nothing to worry about.”

That was good enough, for now. Maybe there would be other threats in the future. Maybe the tenuous truce between Heaven and Hell would shatter again. But until that happened, Alyssa would move forward and be the queen The Infernal Realm deserved.

With her lovers’ help, she was convinced she could do it.

  Elsewhere

The Demiurge watched over his chosen ones and sighed in contentment. That had been a very close call. Several times, he’d been tempted to intervene, but if he’d done that, he’d have broken his own rules. That would have been a recipe for disaster and could have unbalanced the whole universe.

He watched the two sister souls, so different, yet so alike, with a benevolent smile. He had seen many outcomes when he’d looked into their futures, most very different from this one. But souls were always charming. They co
uld still surprise him, even if he was their creator.

That reminded him of something he’d had pending for far too long. With a thought, he reached out to the leaders of The Heavenly Host.

“Kemuel, Gabriel, Raphael, come to me. I need to speak to you.”

He had created the angels to guard his values and obey his commands, but it was becoming more and more obvious that they were an imperfect species. They needed to learn love and compassion. Without that, there could be no future, for any realm.

In a fairytale world where there are no damsels in distress or dragons to slay, a somewhat crazy king decides to trap his son in a tower and wait for something heroic to happen. Easy enough? Not when said prince is allergic to dairy, surrounded by milk, cheeses and cattle, and not happy about it.

It’s up to Arachne, evil witch extraordinaire and temporary overworked head of The Evil Wizard Conglomerate, to save the day. Eh. It’s better than having to deal with the minions on strike.

  Coming Soon: The Warden’s Wolf

A vampire princess with a secret and a terrifying power. A werewolf Alpha out for revenge. Imprisoned by a past of spilled blood, trapped in a vicious circle of hatred, can they find freedom in the chains that bind them?

I was born cursed—a woman both living and dead, torn between two worlds and part of neither. My life’s goal has been to serve the Eventide Blood Clan, fighting the shifters who dared to stand in our way.

Everything changed when I became a warden at Eventide Shifter Prison—and when werewolf Wade Hewitt landed in my path. He was supposed to be my tool, my ticket to defeating my enemies. He became so much more than that.

He’s my captive and my plaything. And yet, he makes me feel things I never thought I could feel. He makes me thirst for more than his blood. My body aches for him.

I might be his mistress, but he is my Alpha. He might be my enemy, but I am his Omega. We might hate one another, but we are soul mates. What am I supposed to do now?
