I would have to transfer packs and live there. I would have to keep a close eye on her, keep her out of trouble... A simple task, how hard could it be? It was for 2 years and then I was free to do whatever I wanted.
"Ha, until we fucking fell in love with her!" Ace scoffed, "You started it dude, I wasn't even looking because I knew better! And then your internal dialogue wouldn't stop, and then my brain wouldn't stop, and now look what we've gotten ourself into." I sighed.
It was no use arguing with Ace really, he was stubborn to the core. The one damn thing Anthony said that was forbidden, a relationship. If I valued my life I would push any feelings like that clear out of my mind. Believe me I've tried, and tried, and fucking tried.
It was like the first time she layed those Silver beauties on me, when I purposefully slammed into her that night, she had me. She could have had me in an instant had she even attempted it. I would have given in to her every want without a fight.
I knew she was 100 percent off limits, but that just made me want her more. And now I'm stuck here, falling in love with a girl I definitely can't have but am forced to be around on the daily. "Blah blah blah, just nut up and get over it. You have like a year left and then you're free!" Ace snarled.
He was always kinda douchey, my wolf, but he was my douche. "You're right, let's just get through this next year!" I said with enthusiasm in my voice.
That's when I felt liquid gold pouring over me, the mind link from Mr. Kane, letting me know I was again needed.
"Here we go Ace'' I stated, and headed back upstairs.
Chapter 23
(Rayne)
Roman had dropped me off a little early, I blamed it on the night's events. But really I was eager to get home and fuck around with these powers. I had always wondered why my mother and I had platinum, a precious metal, colored eyes when no one else I had ever met did.
I had always heard the stories of Reavers and their precious metal obsessions, and how their eyes and voices matched, but never put it together until now. I can't be just a wolf, I had to be something more.
I could do the things Raziel did. Well some of them, sort of. I wasn't sure, but I was determined to find out and try again. I got home and changed out of my dress into a gold sports bra and sweatpants. I was becoming fond of the color, I may be a little biased though because gold reminded me of him.
I sat on my bed and closed my eyes. I was determined to make a flaming green fireball. I concentrated as hard as I could and tried to force it to form, but nothing happened.
I tried focusing on everything I could think of to upset me or annoy me and still nothing. "Maybe there really wasn't any fire? Maybe we did just push him across the room out of anger." Wynter said.
"I swear I saw the fire, I know I felt it! Why isn't it working?" I sighed. I swear I wasn't seeing things, but no matter how hard I tried I could not get a fireball to happen, or even kind of happen. I tried for so long, I didn't even realize I had drifted off wondering if I had imagined the whole thing.
I found myself standing in front of another castle like I had in my previous dream, this one was a little less gothic looking, more modern styled but still had that victorian look. It was black like the other, but adorned with silver accents. No gargoyles or statues, but it was still a breathtaking sight.
It was comparable in size, sitting on multiple acres of land. I was in front of the gate which was solid silver with a large infinity symbol standing diagonally, covered in vines and filigree down the middle of the gate.
"Open" I said, and to my surprise, it opened. I walked inside down the trail following my same path as the other dream castle. There were smaller paths leading off to the sides and around back of the exquisite home. I could see the gardens and what seemed like an orchard in the back, but I again refrained from exploring.
I was more interested to see the bedroom in this castle, wondering if it would be similar to the gold bedroom in my other dream.
I thought it was a little weird that I remembered my other dream while I was in this dream. Wait, am I dreaming? My mind was a little blurry on the details, I thought I may be dreaming but it seemed so real I wasn't sure. I decided to just let it play out and see where it took me.
I reached the front doors and they were huge, adorned in silver accents. I walked inside since it was already cracked open, strangely. The layout of this home was a lot different than the other. There were 3 spiral staircases in different sections of the entryway, and a hallway that led down behind them all on the main floor.
I noticed a similarity though as everything in this house was black and silver. I wondered just whose house this was. I decided to take the right spiral staircase as I just had a pull to that side for some reason.
When I got to the top it opened up into a giant foyer with books adorning every wall, most of them were silver spined, sparkling in the sunlight glinting through the window opposite of the room. I ran my fingers across the spines as I walked through the foyer, and silver glitter fell softly off every book littering the ground with silver dust.
I eventually found myself in front of a huge silver door, adorned with black accents and the name "Raphael'' engraved across it in huge old english calligraphy.
"Raphael" I said out loud, reading the door, and to my surprise the door opened and I was face to face with an eerily gorgeous man. We locked eyes and I noticed his eyes were a darker silver than my lighter platinum, but they were swirling as if they were made of molten metal.
I recognized that from Raziel, his eyes look like molten gold often. This mysterious man had black hair, dark like obsidian. It was semi short and neatly kept. He had light stubble which accentuated his strong jawline, he was absolutely breathtaking in every way.
"Well hello there beautiful, and how exactly did you get here?" He purred, holding his hand out to me. As if instinct, I took his hand and my heart fluttered as he bent down and kissed the back of it sending a chill down my spine.
His voice was smooth and silky like molten silver. The sound of it was like music to my ears, I felt myself wanting to hear it again. But who was he? Raphael? Like the door said? I didn't answer him, I was too enthralled in my whole situation to be able to really comprehend what was actually going on.
He led me inside the room and I was in awe. It was a lot different from Raziels room from my dream. He had a four poster bed adorned in silver and black in the far left corner of the room. Next to that an entire wall of silver spined books reached to the vaulted ceiling. On the right side of the room was a mini bar, fully stocked and a decanter full of Silver liquid.
There was a silver and black globe of the world by the bar, and two armchairs sat right by it like a little reading nook. There was a huge area rug in the middle of the room with a single couch in the middle facing the right side wall, and a large television hung neatly on the wall.
I noticed the same infinity symbol from the front gate was hung on the wall next to the door about 3 feet wide. The room was absolutely beautiful, breathtaking even. I noticed the man, Raphael I assumed, was watching my every move.
"This is a beautiful room" I said with a gasp. I saw a flicker in his eye, amusement maybe? He seemed to approve of my approval, a small smile creeping onto his lips. "I'm glad you approve," he smirked.
"Now what is your name beautiful?" He said, his silver eyes sparkling. "Rayne" I said, matter of factly. "Rayne" he repeated out loud, my name rolled off his tongue so easily, "Well Rayne, you may call me Raphael" he said with a bow.
He was extremely formal, it reminded me of Raziel in so many ways. "Would you like to sit and read with me?" He asked with one eyebrow raised. He snapped his fingers and two books appeared in his hands. He handed me one and I followed him to the two armchairs as we sat down.
I opened the book and to my surprise it was a chapter regarding Reavers. Dream or not, my interest was piqued!
I tried to reach out to Wynter, but she was not there. Weird, I thought, I wonder why she's not here, I guess
it's like my other dream, she wasn't there either. I got about 2 paragraphs in when my alarm went off and my eyes fluttered open slowly. Wynter waking groggily as well.
I sat up, "What in the fuck" I said as Wynter reveled in my thoughts re-living my dream. "Damn Rayne, you've been having some weird ass dreams lately" She chucked.
I really had though, I couldn't help but be upset that I didn't get to read that book about Reavers though. I tried to remember the 2 paragraphs I read, something about a mark and the four High Priests but it was too fuzzy in my mind to remember.
I was definitely going to try and get back there and read it again. Dream or not, it could give me some insight! All those thoughts were swirling in my mind as I got up and got ready for training.
Chapter 24
(Raphael)
I was dreamwalking my own dream to get some peace and quiet and let myself read a bit. I never really got much time to myself, running a multitude of covens and all, so my escape was in my dreams. I had just downed a second glass of silver brandy when I felt a presence.
"Strange, now who would be daring enough to enter my dreams?" I questioned Axel, my wolf. "It feels like a woman sir," he said back. "Curious, shall we go see, or let her find us?" I inquired. "Looks like she's already on her way up sir," Axel said.
I set my glass down and headed towards my bedroom door just as I heard a stunning voice say my name. "Raphael" I was surprised. I opened the door and locked eyes with the most beautiful pair of platinum silver eyes I had ever seen.
This woman standing before me was stunning to say the least. I took a minute to take in her beauty, Axel howling approval in my mind. She was wearing a simple gold sports bra and sweats, but she was exquisite even in such relaxed attire, and atrocious color scheme.
I took in her every feature. Her silver hair falling pin straight to her waist and a look of wonder in her sparkling eyes. She was about 5 foot 7 inches, I was a bit taller than her and she had a petite but muscular stature, no doubt she was a Reaver.
"Well hello there beautiful. And how exactly did you get here?" I asked her. I held my hand out and she put hers into mine with no hesitation. I bent down and kissed her hand. I could feel her body reacting to my touch, this pleased me.
I couldn't help but wonder just how she had gotten here if she had no idea who I was. And then it hit me, she didn't know she was dreamwalking, I wondered if she even knew she was a Reaver.
I led her inside my room and her face lit up, she was in complete awe as she took in every inch of my room. I could see her look of approval as she looked throughout my room into each section committing it all to memory.
"This is a beautiful room" she said with a gasp, and I approved that she approved. I asked her what her name was, Rayne... What a beautiful name. The way she said it was with conviction, she was proud of who she was.
I asked her if she would like to sit and read with me, as that was my intention to begin with, was to sit and read. She didn't say yes or no but I already had snapped my fingers and materialized two books. I handed her one and started walking towards my nook, I glanced back to see she was following me. Good girl, I thought.
We sat down and she started to read. I had purposefully given her a book about Reavers because I had a thought that maybe she had no idea what she was, or that she was even dreamwalking. She probably didn't know what dreamwalking was. I thought maybe a little history lesson might help her.
I looked down for a split second, and when I looked up she was gone, the book was sitting on the chair. She must have woken up, and thought this was all a dream I'm sure. I left my dream in order to speak with my second in command, Atreyu. "Find me anything you can about a woman named Rayne'' I snapped.
I knew I was giving him hardly any information to work with, but that was his Forte, finding out things. He was extremely skilled in this aspect. "Yes sir" he said, and he vanished.
I was definitely intrigued by this mystery woman named Rayne. I was determined to find out more about her.
(Rayne)
Training today was normal, I was working with a few different wolves on new techniques Alpha Drake was teaching us. I was trying to just get through the lesson because I had patrol tonight and I was eager to get back home with enough time to try to work on my powers again. I was determined to get these powers to come out. You could say I was definitely distracted.
Alpha Drake noticed my lack of attention and I rolled my eyes as he stalked my way. "Here we go" I said to Wynter as he approached. "Struggling today are we?" He snarled.
He was clearly still upset about the club. The club.... Then it hit me! I was upset at the club because of Alpha Drake, so it's possible that if he could piss me off again I may be able to reproduce the fire!
"Well I wasn't, but just seeing your lovely face ruined my whole day." I spat to my Alpha. I could see his face turning red as he fought to hold in the boiling anger threatening to rise up. I wondered just how far I could push him before he exploded, hopefully, causing me to explode too.
I locked eyes with my Alpha and I could see something else besides the rage stirring in those Ocean blue orbs. Was that desire? "Oh my God, I think I'm going to be sick." Wynter retched in my mind. "Good God, he gets off on me tormenting him.." I exclaimed to Wynter. This clearly wasn't going to work in my favor.
"So glad to see you too" he scoffed after what seemed like a longer than normal pause. And just like that he turned and walked away. Dammit I thought, just when I thought our hate/hate or apparently hate/love relationship would be beneficial. There had to be a way to get these powers to unlock!
"Why don't you just ask Raziel? I'm sure he would be oh so willing to help." Wynter snorted. To be honest, I was afraid of what he would say or do if I told him. I couldn't risk ruining what we had. What did we have anyways? It was something.. Right? It felt like something, I hoped it was something.
Whatever it was, I wanted it, no I needed it. I wasn't about to risk losing everything so I decided to keep my mouth shut. "I can figure it out on my own, but thanks." I said to Wynter, as we headed home.
I had patrol tonight but I had other plans in the meantime. Rather than working on my fireball, I popped some melatonin and climbed Into bed.
I was determined to get back to that silver house and finish my reading.
Chapter 25
(Raziel)
I had been tracking Rayne for weeks now, in case she was using her powers unknowingly again. She could do some real damage to herself and possibly others being untrained. I made it my personal business to keep track of her unsolicited magic usage. Hell her whole life was my personal business anyways, so why not?
She had access to a plethora of powers that she really had no idea about, and any of those powers could start to form at any time. She already was using fireballs, and dreamwalking. What would be next? I was determined to keep her safe no matter the cost.
Everything had been calm the last little while, I assumed that Alpha Drake being out of town for a bit definitely helped, but he had returned a day or so ago and I had been waiting for her to just snap again.
He undoubtedly would not leave her alone, I was sure of it. He made it very clear to me by his actions that he wanted to make her Luna of The Obsidian pack. Over my dead body, that would never fucking happen. I would make damn sure of it.
I had thought multiple times that maybe I should tell her what she is, and sit down to help her with her powers, but I just couldn't risk the other high priests finding out about her yet. We were so quick to kill I just couldn't trust that one of them wouldn't decide it's not worth the risk and take her life.
That would start a fucking war and I wouldn't even hesitate to fuck shit up. Just the thought of her being harmed or even killed by one of the high priests was enough to make my goddamn blood boil. No sooner than those thoughts entered my mind, so did the familiar feeling of falling silver glitter, Rayne using magic.
It was similar to her mind link, but I felt it over my entire body, no
t just in my mind. I focused on her and materialized, except when I opened my eyes I was still in my room. "What the fuck just happened??" Nero spat, he was just as upset as I.
