Summer Waves Page 3

Giovanni stood there wearing a red polo shirt, khaki shorts, and black Nike sneakers. He smiled when he saw me.

  “You look beautiful,” Giovanni whispered.

  “Thank you,” I replied softly.

He moved his hands from behind his back and held out a bouquet of beautiful flowers. They were my favorite flower in a variety of colors.

“How’d you know I love lilies?” I grinned.

“Someone sang like a bird and told me all your favorite things,” he smiled bashfully. “I hope it’s okay that I brought flowers.”

“They’re beautiful,” I smiled and took the flowers from him. Instantly, I brought the flowers to my nose and inhaled. They smelled wonderful. “And they smell good.”

Giovanni let out a heavy breath. I looked at him and he laughed.

“I’ve been on pins and needles since I picked them out at the florist. I was worried that your brother lied to me just to humiliate me,” he rolled his eyes and then chuckled.

“That is something he would do,” I laughed. “But he’s trying to suck up to me right now so his intel is good… for now.”

  “Good to know.”

Every time he smiled I melted like butter. Hopefully, I’d be near something sturdy the entire date to hold me up when he smiled and my knees went Jell-O on me. I had never met a man with such a great smile. Nor had I met a man who smiled as much as he did.

I had a feeling he was smiling because he was nervous. He seemed to be just as nervous as I was about this date. If this kept up, he was going to be all smiles and I was going to be putty the entire date.

“Would you like to come in while I find something to put these in?” I asked softly.

“Sure. Thank you,” he stepped inside and I closed the door behind him. I made my way to the kitchen. Giovanni stood in the living room looking around.

  “I can’t lie,” I laughed nervously. “I don’t own a vase.”

He dropped his head down and sighed.

“I’m sorry. That’s my fault. I should have gotten a vase for them.”

“No!” I blurted like an idiot. “I mean, it’s okay. They’re beautiful.” My voice was much quieter the second go around.

  “But still. I should have–”

  “Relax, Giovanni.”

I had my damn nerve telling him to relax. I was about to search for a paper bag to breathe into instead of a vase. My nerves were through the roof and the more we talked the more nervous I became.

“Need help looking?” Giovanni asked standing by the kitchen island. I hadn’t heard him walk up so I jumped a little and clutched my chest with my free hand. “I am so sorry.”

“It’s okay,” I chuckled and set the flowers gently down on the kitchen counter. “I’m a hot mess right now,” I admitted with a sigh. “I haven’t been on a date in forever, you’re my brother’s boss, you’re super hot, and the more I talk the more I sound like an idiot.”

Giovanni shook his head and laughed.

“That makes two of us. I mean, the hot mess, haven’t dated for eternity, you being absolutely beautiful and me sounding like an idiot,” he rambled off.

Absolutely beautiful? The words made me smile ear to ear. I turned my back to him so he wouldn’t see my cheesy smile.

“Thank you,” I whispered then began to dig through my cabinets for something to put the flowers in.

Giovanni made a noise that I couldn’t make out so I looked over my shoulder at him. He was staring at my ass, which eased the tension that had built up inside me. Weird how that’s all it took to relax me.

“I debated on wearing a dress. I can always go change,” I teased. His face turned red and he groaned.

“I swear, I usually have manners,” he groaned again.

“It’s okay. It broke the ice,” I shrugged and went back to looking for something to put the flowers in.

  “Question?”

“Yes?” I asked, continuing my search.

“How does me staring at your as… staring at you break the ice?” I could hear the amusement in his tone.

“I asked myself the same thing,” I smiled, but he couldn’t see it since my back was to him. “Guess it’s just nice to know you’re human and not Jacob’s boss.”

“Ah. Gotcha,” he chuckled. “Want to stare at mine so I know you’re human and not just Jacob’s sister?”

  Chapter Six

  Giovanni

For the love of God. Why the fuck did I just say that? I wanted to tuck my tail and run for the hills.

Bethany turned and faced me. She was grinning like a fox as the saying goes. She held up a finger and did the gesture for me to turn. I couldn’t help but bust out laughing. Slowly, I turned to where my back was to her.

“Do I pass for human?” I joked.

“Mmhmm. Definitely,” she said in a tone that made my dick hard.

Fuck. How in the hell was I going to weasel out of this one to where she wouldn’t see me hard?

“Going to face that way forever? Not that I’m complaining,” she asked in a giggle.

“Of course.” With large strides, I made my way to the other side of the kitchen island to where she couldn’t see my lower half. I looked at her. Her eyebrow was raised and she was giving me a funny look.

“O...kay.” She went back to looking for something for the flowers. I really should have bought the vase.

Bethany bent down and dug around in a lower cabinet. Her round ass was making it impossible for me to get rid of my hard-on. I feared that at any moment she was going to come around the island and see the bulge in my shorts. Then she would think I was some sort of pervert, kick me out, tell her brother, and I’d have to deal with him.

“If you stare any harder, you’re going to burn a hole,” Bethany laughed. I snapped out of my trance and found her leaned against the counter facing me and grinning.

“Sorry,” I rubbed the back of my neck and diverted my eyes to the ceiling. If I was lucky, the distraction would help me get rid of the current situation in my shorts.

“Are you okay?” she asked, walking over to the island. I looked at her.

  “Yes,” I blurted. “I’m just…”

There was no way out of this. Even if I attempted to play all this off, she would see right through my bullshit.

“Maybe, we should postpone this date,” I groaned. The look on Bethany’s face shifted to a look of embarrassment.

“Something I did?” she asked softly. Her voice was filled with insecurity.

“No. Heaven’s no,” I said firmly. “This is all on me. Not you.”

“Typical guy answer,” she huffed and then walked out of the kitchen towards the front door.

“I swear it’s not what you think, Bethany.” I quickly followed behind her. “Bethany, it’s–”

My words came to a screeching halt when she suddenly stopped and I ran into her. There was no point in trying to explain postponing the date because my hard-on pressed against her ass was probably a dead giveaway.

“I am so sorry,” I whispered but didn’t attempt to move. Honestly, I was frozen in place by nerves.

“Is that why you’re trying to postpone?” Bethany asked. She sounded amused.

“Glad one of us finds this funny,” I grumbled. “Makes me look like some kind of pervert.”

Bethany giggled and shook her head.

“Makes you seem like you’re interested in me… or at least part of me.” She turned and faced me. She had a shit-eating grin on her face. She knew she had me wound uptight and she was loving every minute of it.

“I’m interested in every part of you,” I rasped huskily. Bethany breathed heavily and shifted on her feet.

“And, I’m interested in every part of you,” she smiled. Her words were just fueling the fire that was burning inside me for her.

  “Bethany,” I warned.

“Sorry,” she sighed and then shook her head and stepped back. “I sound like a slut.”

She bolted for the kitchen, b
ut I grabbed her hand as she passed me. I turned her to face me, pulled her against me with my arm around her waist, and kissed her softly. Just a kiss so I could feel her lips and she could feel mine – a teasing kiss.

When I pulled away, I looked down at her and smiled.

“You sound like a woman and nothing else, Bethany. Okay?” I assured her.

Slut was the last word I’d associate with Bethany. We barely knew each other, but I knew from the moment we held a conversation that she wasn’t that type of woman. I knew she was selective with who she slept with and didn’t just hop in bed with anybody.

“Okay,” she whispered. Her eyes were full of doubt.

“You’ll learn to trust my words. I wouldn’t lie to you.”

“No. You’d just hide behind an island.” She busted out laughing. A full gut-busting laugh. “I’m sorry,” she said, trying to contain her laughter. Her laughter was contagious and I soon found myself laughing.

“In my defense, I was trying to be a gentleman,” I continued to laugh.

“I appreciate that.” She looked up at me and smiled. “And, in all fairness, if I was a guy, I’d be standing behind the island, too. But thankfully, I’m a woman and you can’t see if I’m…” Her words drifted and her cheeks pinkened.

“Horny? Is that the word you’re looking for?” I grinned. Bethany playfully hit my arm.

“Yes. HORNY,” she shouted. “That was the word I was looking for.”

“See. Was that so hard to say?”

Bethany rolled her eyes and laughed.

“It was definitely hard,” she nodded. “Very hard.”

Each time she said hard my cock became harder and harder. Her voice was seductive and luring. It was taking everything inside me to not push her against the wall and kiss her like there was no tomorrow. I needed Bethany like I needed air.

“Bethany,” I whispered. “We should probably go on our date.”

“We can always go on our date afterward. If you wanted to,” she said shyly. I looked down at her and she looked away from me. I lifted her chin with my fingers.

“Do you want me to take you to bed?” I asked. She closed her eyes and nodded.

“Yes,” she said quietly and opened her eyes. “And then, if you still want to, we can go out on our date. If you want–”

  I kissed her swiftly.

“I want to go out on our date so after we…” I racked my mind for an appropriate, non-vulgar word to say sex. The word fuck kept coming to mind. “Afterwards, we’ll get ready and go out. How does that sound?”

“Sounds like you should probably get rid of your clothes,” she smirked and then grabbed my hand. “This way.”

I followed behind her as she led me down a short hallway and into a large room. She flipped on a light illuminating a bedroom that had the curtain closed.

There was a king-size bed on the far side of the room with a black and maroon comforter along with matching pillows. Black nightstands with lamps on them were on each side of the bed. A few feet from the door against the wall was a long black dresser with a mirror.

“Are you here to admire the interior or me?” Bethany giggled. I looked at her and grinned.

  “Definitely you. Sorry.”

“It’s okay. I’m only teasing. You’re more than welcome to look around. There isn’t much,” she let go of my hand. “I’m hardly home so I really don’t need decorations.”

“I completely understand how that is,” I chuckled. “All work and no play.”

“Until now,” she added, and then slipped her shirt up and over her head. She dropped it to the floor.

My eyes locked on her black lace bra, which had been hiding her perfect-sized breasts. Her breasts weren’t too big and weren’t too small.

“Are they… okay?” she asked quietly.

“More than okay, beautiful.” I walked over to her and kissed the top of each of her breasts. She gasped at each kiss. “They’re perfect.”

I ran my hands down her sides and settled them on her hips. She tensed.

“Maybe I should turn off the lights,” she sighed.

  “What’s wrong?”

  “You made me feel sexy.”

“And now?” I questioned with an eyebrow raised.

“And, now, your hand is on my fat ro–”

There was no way in hell I was going to let her finish that fucking sentence. I loved how she was curvy and thick in all the right places. I didn’t like women who were super skinny. I liked real women. Women whose bodies weren’t like the ones you saw in magazines. Bodies like hers.

I grabbed the back of her neck and pressed my lips to hers, silencing her.

  Chapter Seven

  Bethany

Giovanni kissed me senseless. It had been unexpected, but I welcomed him by parting my lips. His tongue slid past my lips and greedily explored my mouth. My own tongue greedily explored his. His kiss was intoxicating. The kind of kiss you never want to end.

When he wrapped an arm around my waist and pulled me against his body, I melted. My knees weakened and I was thankful for his embrace. Never had I been kissed so passionately. Never had a kiss moved mountains inside me.

  Bing. Bing.

My text notification went off and another notification went off, but the second one wasn’t from my phone.

Giovanni and I stopped kissing. We looked at each other before grabbing our phones. I unlocked the screen and clicked the text notification icon.

“Your brother messaged me,” Giovanni glanced at me and then down at his phone. Jacob had group messaged us.

Jacob: It does not take that long to drop off flowers. Why are you still in there, Giovanni? I am asking as Bethany’s brother not as your employee so don’t fire me.

I laughed and looked up at Giovanni, who was looking down at his phone with amusement.

  Bing.

I looked back down at my phone and read the next message.

Jacob: In other words, get out of my sister’s room!!! Bethany, you are classier than this. Two minutes to get out before I kick down the door.

I busted out laughing. Typical Jacob. Always threatening guys I dated or went on dates with. Hell, he was the one who set up Giovanni and me, and here he was acting like a papa bear.

“This kid is funny,” Giovanni chuckled.

“He is something else,” I mused.

  “Didn’t he set us up?”

“I thought he did,” I laughed and looked up at Giovanni. He smiled down at me.

“Guess he’s right. I should be a gentleman.”

  Damn you, Jacob. Damn cockblocker.

“Yeah, I’m not being very lady-like,” I sighed and turned to my door. “Ready to go?”

“After those texts?” he chuckled. “We probably should go before he busts in here like the swat team.”

Giovanni and I looked at each other and laughed. I picked my shirt up off the floor and slipped it back on.

“This way, sir,” I giggled and walked out of my room. If I was lucky, Jacob would still be outside and I could kill him.

Who the hell stalked their sister’s date?

I grabbed my purse on the way out the door. When Giovanni walked out of my house, I closed the door behind us and locked the door.

“This way,” Giovanni offered me his arm, and I slipped my arm through his.

  Honk! Honk! Honk!

The sound of the horn startled me, but when I looked in the direction of where the sound was coming from. When my eyes landed on the cherry red, F-150 lowrider, I growled.

  “This child,” I groaned.

“Is he going to be stalking us the entire day?” Giovanni sighed.

“He can’t stalk if he’s dead,” I growled, making Giovanni laugh.

“That’s true, but can’t fault him for caring about you,” he smiled down at me.

“Get on with your date already!” Jacob yelled at us. Giovanni growled and I groaned before turning our attention to Jacob.

  “Ten bucks says
I can get to him before you can,” I smirked.

“Twenty says I will,” Giovanni chuckled and then took off across the street towards Jacob’s truck. Jacob’s eyes widened.

“I was just kidding! Jesus!” Jacob yelled as he slammed his car into drive and hauled ass down the street. Giovanni stopped walking and looked over his shoulder at me. He grinned ear to ear.

“You didn’t get to him so I don’t owe you anything,” I laughed. “So nice try.”

Giovanni smiled and walked over to me. He took my hand in his. I dropped my gaze down to our joined hands.

“Then we’ll just settle for holding hands the rest of the day,” he said, ushering me over to a nice four-door black truck. “Our chariot for today.”

“Will it turn into a pumpkin by a certain time?” I teased. Giovanni laughed and opened the passenger door.

“I hope not. I just paid the pumpkin off,” he said, making me laugh. He helped me into his truck and waited until I was settled and buckled into my seat before closing the door. He made his way to the driverside, climbed in, and in less than a minute we were on our way.

“Come on. Don’t be a chicken,” I giggled as I grabbed Giovanni’s wrist with both of my hands.

“Oh. No, you don’t,” he laughed and tried to make a run for it.

“Giovanni!” I laughed. A wave crashed against the back of my leg sending a cold chill up my spine. I shrieked from the sudden change in temperature against my skin.

“See! It’s cold!” Giovanni chuckled. I wrapped my arms around his waist and attempted to pull him farther into the water with me. “Bethany!” he laughed.

“You said, we could do whatever I wanted after lunch,” I reminded him. His back was to me, but when his shoulders slumped, I knew I had won my way.

“You sure about this?” he sighed.

  “Mmhmm.”

Giovanni turned to me and grinned. It wasn’t an innocent grin. It was a grin that meant I was in for it.

“Giovanni…” I warned and let go of his wrist. He grinned wider. “No. No. No.” I slowly backed away from him.

“No what, Bethany?” he chuckled, making me giggle.
