He’s wearing dark wash jeans with a black t-shirt that shows off his muscles, and his blonde hair is still wet from the shower he took as I was waking up.

And all I want to do is fuck him, like the horny bitch I am when he’s around. Logan’s touch always helps me forget about the world around us, and I will always love him for that.

“You’re awake,” he asks surprised as he closes the door behind him, he then takes a seat on the edge of the bed.

“I am, but I’m still tired, I just want to go back to sleep,” I return. Going back to sleep will help me deal with today, but what happens tomorrow? I know I can’t swipe everything under the carpet in a bid to forget, but I want to.

Reaching up, he cups my cheek in his hand, and I lean into his touch. “The funeral starts in an hour. You need to start getting ready, babe. Let’s get this funeral over and done with so we can move forward with our lives,” he tells me as he comes in and kisses me.

Hoping to distract him, my mouth opens for him, inviting him in, and I run my tongue along his, but he isn’t playing along. Pulling away, his bright blue eyes meet mine, and he’s wearing a sad smile. “I know what you’re doing, and as much as I’d love to finish this, we do need to get ready. Your mom, Abby, and Lucas are waiting downstairs for us. Do you know what you’re wearing? I can lay it out for you while you freshen up,” he offers only making me love him more.

“You are perfect, and I hate to disappoint, but I’m not going. Deep down, I know I won’t have any regrets if I don’t attend the funeral because the man was a pig. He treated me like shit, babe. Why should I go and celebrate his fucking shit of a life?” I just can’t do it. I cannot sit there and pretend to be sad when I’m not. I'm angry, not sad.

Kissing my cheek, he tells me, “I get it, I do, but I think your mom needs you there. Please, try for her. You don’t need to be there for him, but I know Toni would appreciate you going with her, and I’ll be there, right by your side. Whatever you need, you can count on me. Whether it be playing interference, or just holding you through it, I’ll be there. I can promise you that,” he whispers as he leans back in and presses his perfect lips to mine.

As much as I don’t want to go, I know he’s right. I know my mother will need me one way or another, and I also know she too has mixed feelings over my father’s death. The man stole her money, he was sleeping around on her, before his death, Lucas and Logan had uncovered the affair after catching him at the airport with his hand on another woman’s ass. Damn, anything could happen at this funeral, and I don’t think I'd want to miss it if something does go down. “Fine. But I’m not talking to anyone, and the first person that gives me the head tilt and says, ‘You doing okay?’ will be the first person I punch. Got it?” That is non-negotiable. I will scream from the mountain tops at the asshole's last goodbye, that he was a prick that hated his daughter. That he threatened to take the love of my life away from me simply because they didn’t get along.

Chuckling, Logan tells me, “Got it. If you need to hit someone, I’ll be sure to have the lawyers on speed dial.”

  “That’s all I ask.”
