The Lost Year Page 10

He was absolutely gorgeous, and a really nice guy, too, with none of the arrogance that often accompanied a man who was good-looking and knew it, especially when he used that asset as part of his livelihood. Cal was actually doing this job to work his way through grad school.

Damn, what was hotter than a sexy, intelligent, nice man?

"What about you, Kalie?" Jan asked.

"Well, unlike Sylvia, I’d be happy with just two men… but I’d like them to kidnap me and take me,"—Kalie gestured with air-quotes—"against my will."

"Mmm." Sylvia sighed. "I’m getting hot just thinking about that."

So was Becca. Her gaze shifted back to the handsome stud currently standing in front of Celia, rocking his pelvis forward and back as he slowly lowered his pants. She couldn’t help imagining him holding her against the wall, her wrists pinned above her head. Her breasts swelled and her hard nipples pressed against the lace of her bra. She watched in fascination as he shed his tight black pants, her gaze locking on the large bulge outlined by his black briefs.

Celia giggled as he turned in a circle in front of her, his hips gyrating, then he faced her again and glided his thumbs under his briefs and eased them down, first one hip, then the other. The fabric clung to his shaft, keeping it hidden from view, but Becca knew that every woman in the room stared at it, breath held in anticipation.

He slid one finger toward his shaft. As he pulled the fabric forward, Becca wished she were alone in the room with him, that it was her instead of Celia sitting right in front of him with a world-class view.

Then he tugged the fabric down, revealing his huge, thick shaft, bulging veins lining the side of his magnificent cock. Oh, God, if she were Celia right now, she’d have trouble not reaching forward and stroking it, then devouring it. She could imagine the solid flesh stretching her mouth as she wrapped her lips around it.

Sylvia nudged Becca’s shoulder and she tore her gaze away.

"My God, woman. He is sinfully hot." Sylvia’s heated gaze was locked on his big member. "Wherever you found him, make sure you keep the address. No wonder he’s your fantasy."

  Becca just nodded.

Sylvia nudged her again. "So, when you interviewed him, did you get to see the goods?"

Now it was Becca’s turn to blush. "Um… no."

It had been a very business-like interview, where she’d asked about his experience and references. She was an event planner, after all, and although she had arranged this party as Celia’s friend, this kind of thing was a business for her. Not that she’d ever hired a stripper before. Usually, she set up charity events or anniversary parties. That kind of thing.

  "Too bad." Kalie grinned.

As he undulated his hot body in front of Celia, then turned around and swayed his fine, hard ass in front of her, Becca felt her insides melt with need.

Sylvia nudged her again. "You know, there’s no reason you couldn’t live out your fantasy. The fantasies the rest of us have aren’t likely to happen, but yours is right there in front of you. Go for it."

  Unscrupulous

  The Manhattanites

  Avery Aster

At thirty-three, Warner Truman is one of the richest men on the planet, a spa mogul who buys and sells resorts at will. He holds powerful executives' careers in his well-groomed hands. Nothing is beyond Warner's reach...until he meets her.

Stunning, tantalizing and perverse, Taddy Brill captivates Warner's carnal desire like no woman he's ever met. A self-made millionaire, Taddy is tougher than steel, more brilliant than diamonds and, at twenty-seven, she's never depended on a man for anything...until she meets him.

The more Taddy plays with Warner's affections, driving him to erotic heights, the more she is confronted by a dark past. Before she can love him, Taddy must meet her worst fears head-on or risk losing it all, including herself.

Often while reading Avery Aster’s books, readers have been known to experience hot flashes, orgasms, and laughter to the point of peeing in their pants.

It’s suggested that you have a bucket of ice nearby, along with a chilled glass of champagne and your favorite sex toy—fully charged—before reading this story.

Please note that Avery’s writing is not suitable for prudes, slut-shamers, or uptight readers who don’t have a sense of humor about money, sex, or fame. Avery’s books are not intended for anyone under the age of 18.

  —Books Are Love

“There’s a new star in town. The name is Avery Aster. Unscrupulous is slick, juicy and narratively impressive.”

  —The Sleaze Factor

“Unscrupulous equates fun erotica. The humor runs toward the outrageous and raunchy but never tasteless. This is like Sex and City on steroids but younger and actually sexier.”

  —Ever After Romance Book Blog

“The Manhattanites is a throwback to Judith Krantz. It’s filled with family drama, salacious back stories, rich people problems and the glitz and glamour of fame without turning into a saga of revenge and disappointment.”

  —Talk Supe Reviews

“I could relate to the main characters. The emotions they went through felt real to me. If you are open minded and looking for something…hot, then these books are for you. Avery Aster had me hooked, interested and connected to the characters.”

  —Bec’s Books

“While classified as an erotic novel it is so much more than that. Unscrupulous is a love story between friends and more importantly is a story of a woman learning to truly love herself!”

  —Tiffany Talks Books

“I learned so many new things while reading Unscrupulous like what DILF stood for, and about the Vajazzle. Avery’s writing style is refreshing and so different from what’s out there.”

  —Book Babes Unite

“Unscrupulous reminds me a lot of Jackie Collins’ style of plot lines, intrigue and drama. The bitches are super-bitches and the heroine has a good heart underneath the tough exterior. When Taddy finally started to open up to Warner it actually made me tear up.”

  —I Love Romantic Fiction

“The female characters are all strong and that’s a refreshing change from some of the heroines I’ve read lately in other books.”

  —Blissful Books

“The shock value early in the book is high and is suited to the open-minded reader, not shy or afraid of sexually descriptive language and scenes
. Unscrupulous is hot flash-inducing…trust me, I’ve suffered a few.”

  —Ripe For Reader

“Unscrupulous is a wild read filled with rich, dirty mouthed New Yorkers and it is just a lot of fun.”

  —A Lust for Reading

  To Kelly!

Thank you for lending an ear and several cocktails over the years.

You’ve helped me in ways no other friend has or possibly could.

  The Literary Gossip

  Dear Reader,

Shortly after I began writing book reviews, I discovered Unscrupulous by Avery Aster and was introduced to this erotic, zany world called The Manhattanites. I couldn’t remember the last time I had that much fun while reading a novel.

Unscrupulous is what a great boyfriend should be—it makes you laugh and makes you horny. What more can a girl ask for? Oh, right. An über sexy hunk? Check. A strong female lead who doesn’t annoy the fuck out of you? Double check. A fun supporting cast? You got it. Great story? You bet. Hot sex? Uhm…yeah! There’s just enough of it to enjoy but not so much that it takes over the story.

Reading Taddy’s past in this novel left a hole in my heart. She deserved something she never imagined, a lover. A close-to-trillionaire wealthy, Newport Rhode Island sophisticated, Harvard graduate intelligent—Big Daddy. You will see this couple throughout The Manhattanites series as the novels progress.

The more I read and interact with authors whose work I admire, the more I get the feeling that the characters they share with us on their pages are very close to their own real-life personas. When it comes to Avery’s books, you’ll never confuse these stories with anyone else’s. The cast is true to New York form. Often ruthless, always brilliant, they require a match who exceeds their expectations.

When I read Avery’s work I feel as if I’m at happy hour with a bunch of girlfriends. We’re sharing stories of escapades, sexual and otherwise, and we drink way too many cosmos in the process and have fun along the way.

Every time a new book by Avery Aster is about to be released, I get excited. You know it’ll be full of quotes you’d want to memorize so you can use them on your friends because they are just too hysterically delicious not to be repeated. These besties make me want to be part of their posse so badly. I love the way they have each other’s backs.

The saying goes “no two people ever read the same book,” so if you are someone who appreciates an author who stands out with a voice of his own, you like to have a laugh while you read and you have an open mind when it comes to love making, you’ll enjoy Avery’s books.

Enjoy and welcome to The Manhattanites.

Hot Topless Beaches in December or Bust

“I used to strive to live my life for happiness, not money or status. I don’t know what happened or why I stopped.” —Warner Truman, CEO of Truman Enterprises and third richest man in the world.

  Her Measurements 36C-25-35

  Fifteen Years Ago

Upper West Side, New York City

Tabitha Adelaide Brillford stood back from her bedroom wall, where she’d measured her height with yellow tape then marked it in pencil. “How tall is seventy-two inches?” she asked her best friend, Lex Easton, who sat on her pink canopy bed.

Lex put down the latest Manhattanite Times issue she was reading and replied, “About six feet.”

“Holy shiiit! Mommy and Daddy are both under five-ten. What other measurements did I give you?”

Her friend grabbed the Hello Kitty notepad off the pillow and read, “Thirty-six C, twenty-five, thirty-five.”

A few weeks shy of starting the seventh grade, Tabitha had blossomed over the summer into a woman.

“Remember when my mom took us to Milan to see her friend’s spring show?” Lex’s mother, Birdie Easton, a rock-n-roll legend, received invitations year after year to the best parties, extravaganzas, and fashion shows in the world.

“Valentine?” She puffed on a cigarette, exhaling from her mouth.

“Valentino,” Lex corrected. “Anyways, there’s a resemblance between Elle Macpherson, the model who wore the red dress, and you.” She held Vogue’s fall issue up, Macpherson gracing the cover. The season’s periodicals were spread out on Tabitha’s bed. At twelve, Lex was already a slave to fashion, especially couture.

“Red is my favorite color. It goes with my look.” Tabitha laughed. She happened to be the only redhead in her class, let alone the only girl rich enough to furnish a complete wardrobe from Yves Saint Laurent. “Why do you read those crummy gossip rags? You know our folks told us not to pay the press any attention.” Since her parents announced their trial separation a few weeks before, she’d stopped looking at the tabloids.
