White Lies Page 8

“What the fuck?” Teller shouts. “Who was that?”

He jumps down and stares at the hilly road where the car disappeared. The dust has more or less settled. Now, there’s nothing but inky darkness beyond our headlights.

“Don’t know,” I answer, walking over to meet him. “Thanks for coming down so quickly.”

  “You all right?”

“I’m fine. Just didn’t know why the fuck they were following me.”

He stares down the road again. “Could it be one of the bunnies from the gym?”

I actually stop and think about it. Over the years, girls associated with the club have done weirder shit than try and follow me home to get my attention.

“Kinda girly looking car.” My way of agreeing it’s a possibility. I wait for his promise to kill me if I cheat on his sister, but the threat never comes.

“You better be more careful. Why you riding home so late by yourself? Where’s Wrath?”

“I’m not his fucking babysitter. He went to visit Trinity at her studio when we closed. What was I supposed to do, tag along?”

  He glares at me.

Shame—an emotion I don’t get in touch with often—skids down my spine. I shouldn’t have snapped at Teller. Yeah, I’m on edge but it’s no excuse. Ever since the accident that almost crippled him, he’s been edgy about any of us riding alone. “Thank you for answering your phone so late.”

“Not a problem.” He yawns and I get a look at his hastily thrown on sweats and T.

  “Did I interrupt?”

He inclines his head toward his house. “Hear that?”

  “What?”

  “Charlotte cursing you out.”

I tip my head the same way. “Nah, brother. Sounds like the rumble of a purple pleasure stick to me.”

He laughs and shoves me. “Fucker.”

The smile slides off my face. “Seriously, thanks. I wasn’t sure what was going on—”

“I’ve always got your back. Glad you called me. He didn’t take off until I showed up.”

“Don’t mention this to Heidi, all right? She already worries enough about me riding home late at night.”

  “She kinda has a point.”

  I cock my head.

“Yeah, yeah.” He slaps my arm again. “Go on. Get home.”

I turn, then pause. “Don’t mention it to Rock, either.”

He stares at me for a second before agreeing.

Rock’s waiting in the living room when I walk in the front door.

There’s no point in telling him what happened. The further I get from the incident, the more it seems like a whole lot of nothing. I doubt it has anything to do with the club. I trust Teller won’t say anything unless I give him the okay.

“What’s up?” I ask quietly. The rest of the house is silent.

He points upstairs. “Grace. Then, I figured I’d wait for you.”

  “Thanks, Dad.”

He huffs out a quiet laugh and nods to the chair next to him.

My brain shifts from the weird ride home to the current state of the club.

“You know I’m going to say yes.” Might as well get that out of the way. I sure as fuck don’t want to be responsible for giving Rock insomnia.

  He raises an eyebrow.

“Let me handle this meeting with Whisper first. Make sure I don’t fuck it up. Then we can make it official.”

“You’re not going to fuck it up.”

“You still want me to set up this support club?”

“You’re the best person for the job. I want you to lay the groundwork, but the burden of the whole club won’t land on your shoulders.”

That’s not as reassuring as I think Rock intended it to be.

“Z didn’t nominate you because there aren’t any better options.” Rock drills me with an intense stare I can’t look away from. “He did it because you are the absolute best person for the job.”

Thank you doesn’t seem right, and I can’t stand the tension. My gaze doesn’t stray far before Rock taps the table to get my attention. “No one loves this brotherhood or is more loyal to the club than you.”

“Only family I’ve got.” I swallow hard. “Club’s always been there for me. Especially when my blood family wasn’t.”

“Same as all of us. And you’ll provide the same for any future members.”

“I’m not you, or Wrath, or Z—”

“No, you’re better. You’ve grasped the things that matter a lot earlier than any of us did.”

“I learned it by watching you.”

Rock chuckles at the old corny anti-drug PSA line.

I glance down the hall. “Heidi asleep?”

He shrugs. “Haven’t heard anything. When are you picking up her car?”

“Tomorrow. I know your guy isn’t ready for it yet, but the deal is only good for another couple days.”

“You can store it at Bricks’ garage if you want.”

“Thanks, I might do that. Are we adding some garages to the new clubhouse?”

“We should. Figured let’s finish the main building and then worry about any extras.”

“It’ll be nice to have somewhere in the heart of Empire to work again.”

“You still planning to take her out to Eraser’s track?”

  “Yeah.”

He pierces me with the same stare that made me think he was a human lie detector when I was ten-years old. “You’re sure he’s someone you want to recruit for the support club?”

“Well, I plan to vet him while I’m there.”

He nods. “That’s good. See what else you can find out. Family. Business. Enemies. Whatever you can.”

  “I’ll do my best.”

We say goodnight, and I pad down the hallway to our room. It’s dark, but there’s enough light to make out Heidi curled on her side.

  Clutching her cell phone.

  Damn.

I pry it out of her hands and set it on the nightstand before stripping down and climbing in behind her.

“Why didn’t you call?” she mumbles.

“Finished closing later than I expected,” I whisper, pulling her closer. “Go back to sleep.”

She mutters something I can’t make out. I kiss her cheek before settling down for the night.

As soon as my head hits the pillow, my eyes pop open, and I stare at the ceiling.

I can’t stop replaying the ride home, trying to uncover any detail I might have missed. Did the car follow me from Furious? I’m pretty sure it was the same one that pulled out behind me after I left.

Or did I pick them up somewhere else? Were they following me specifically or out to fuck with whoever they ran into first?

What if I hadn’t noticed and led whoever it was to the clubhouse?

Now I’m questioning the whole entire episode.

All the bad ways it could’ve gone down continue to haunt me long after I close my eyes.

  Twelve

  Heidi

Weak tendrils of sunlight are barely poking through the shades when my body registers Blake curled around me. His heavy arm rests across my waist. I flick my gaze to the nightstand.

My phone. His phone. My eyes search the floor. His clothes.

He never called me last night. I fell asleep waiting for him.

Slowly, so I don’t disturb him, I turn and stare at his face. When did he come in? Why didn’t he call? I’d been looking forward to our midnight meet-up in the garage.

I glance at the clock. Not much time to uncover this mystery before Alexa will be up, demanding our attention. Until I have to leave for a long day at the urgent care office where I’ll be shadowing a tech all day.

He shifts and mumbles in his sleep when I sit up. The tented blanket over his groin provides me with inspiration.

“You owe me an orgasm,” I announce loud enough to penetrate his sleep but hopefully not leave our room.

Blake blinks his eyes open and stares up at me for a few seconds. A slow smile spreads
across his face. “Anytime, beautiful. Climb on up and take what’s yours,” he rasps.

I sneak a hand under his boxers and grasp his cock. “So hard first thing in the morning.”

He seems fully awake as he tucks his arms behind his head and smirks at me. “All for you.”

After working off his shorts, I straddle his legs and lean over, swiping my tongue over the head of his cock. He hisses and squeezes his eyes shut. “Fuck.”

“You left me hanging last night.” I sit up and release him. “I should fire up that little silver bullet you bought me and make you watch while I get myself off.”

His eyes pop open, and he reaches for the drawer. “Be my guest. Love watching you.”

I smack his hand away from the nightstand, and he laughs. He clamps his hands around my waist and tugs me forward. “First, I want to eat some pussy. Most important meal of the day.”

  “You don’t deserve any pussy.”

  “That right?”

It’s impossible for me to keep up this hard-ass act with Blake. I end up ducking my head and giggling while he drags me up his chest.

“What the fuck is this?” He tugs at my underwear. “How were you planning to jump on my dick with these on?”

“Improvise?” I slide my hand down my belly and slowly push the material to the side. “I’m pretty creative.”

  He groans. “Take ‘em off.”

  “Make me.”

He growls and digs his fingers into the material, yanking them down my hips. He sits up and presses one hand against my chest, tipping me backwards, so he can tear my panties off the rest of the way.

  “Don’t. I haven’t shaved my legs.”

He clamps his hands around my ankles and angles his head, so he can stare at me. “Seriously?” He runs his hands over every inch of my legs. “Feel good to me. Will feel even better wrapped around my neck.”

Laughing, I twist my body and grip his cock with both hands.

“Ah, fuck,” he groans and clamps his hands over my hips, dragging me up.

He presses his hands against my thighs, spreading me wide. No hesitation, he’s fully awake and completely focused now. He spreads my lips and blows a ticklish breath over my clit.

“I don’t think I need sweet and seductive this morning. I’m pretty wound up.”

His burning gaze lands on me. “My girl always needs it slow and steady.” He raises an eyebrow, daring me to challenge him.

Now that I questioned him, Blake teases me with long, lazy licks combined with open-mouthed kisses. My hips rock in desperation.

But he won’t be hurried. No, Blake takes his sweet time sucking, licking, and using his beard to drive me crazy.

“Ah!” I squeal and buck, certain I might have bruised his nose at some point during my wild thrashing.

The brief pause he takes gives me time to remember my plans. Instinct guides me to grip his cock harder. I lower my head and circle my tongue around the crown. His big body shudders underneath me, encouraging me to flick my tongue over his warm, soft skin and smile when he inhales sharply. He groans louder when I suck the head into my mouth. Now that I have his attention, I waste no time taking him deeper, knowing the combination of suction and speed that will wring more sexy noises out of my man.

He’s right where I want him when his fingers return. Pressing deep inside of me while his tongue caresses my clit again. Confident and firm, he continues pushing me toward the edge of orgasm.

While I was eager before, now, I want the journey to last forever.

But I can’t hold out much longer. My body trembles with my release. So good. I have to bury my face against his thigh to muffle my cries.

When my senses return, he’s rubbing his hands all over my lower back and down my legs. He shifts his big body, knocking me to the mattress.

“Put your hands on the wall,” he rumbles.

“What?” I haven’t quite recovered. My knees are jelly and my hands? Fuck, I don’t even know where they are.

Blake lifts me by my hips, turning me to face the wall our bed is shoved up against. His bigger hands shackle my wrists, bringing them up and pressing my palms to the cool, smooth wall.

“Love my girl waking me up all demanding. Getting what’s hers.” He drops kisses along my shoulder. “But now it’s my turn.”

The sexy warning sends a flutter of anticipation through my belly.

He steadies me with a hand at my waist before sliding in fast and deep. Both hands come down on my ass, gripping hard. A growling groan vibrates against my back as he holds me tight. He slips his hand down, seeking and finding my clit. Every nerve in my body lights up again, ready to explode.

Over and over, he slams into me until my nipples are smashed against the cold wall and my back is trapped against his hot, hard chest.

I squeeze my eyes shut. “Oh, God,” I whisper.

He makes a low growly noise of encouragement. “Again, beautiful.”

“I-” I’m not even sure what I’m about to say when he pulls out and crashes down on the mattress. “Get on top of me,” he demands. “Need to see your face when you come this time.”

I’d love to take it slow and tease him the way he teased me earlier, but I’m too eager to have him inside me again. He makes frantic, tortured noises as I slide down his shaft.

“God, you feel amazing,” I whisper.

I rock up and down for a few minutes, slowly increasing my pace.

“That’s good,” he groans. “Right there.”

“Like this?” I tease, wiggling my hips.

“Don’t fuck with me.” He bites his lip and curses.

I rake my nails lightly down his chest, and he thrusts up. Our tempo quickens. My breathing turns ragged while his comes in short pants and grunts.

This orgasm sweeps through me in a wave of pleasure, turning me inside out. It’s as exhilarating as it is scary the way the waves won’t stop. He pulls me down against his chest, wrapping his arms around me, cock pulsing inside me. Slowly, he thrusts a few more times before raining kisses over my forehead and cheeks.

“Best way to wake up, beautiful,” he murmurs against my lips.

Shaking, I roll to the side, resting my cheek against his outstretched arm. He wraps his arms around me and burrows his face against my shoulder, kissing my neck.

“Will you wake me up like this every morning?” he whispers. “After we get married?”

I turn, so I’m facing him. “Can you handle it?”

“I can handle anything you throw at me.” He presses a kiss to my forehead. “Sorry I didn’t call. We left late last night.”

“You got me all turned on and left me hanging.”

He genuinely seems distressed, so I stop teasing him. “It’s okay. I’m not even sure what time I passed out.”

“It was almost one-thirty when I got in.”

I crane my neck to stare at the clock. “Shit, I’m sorry. I should’ve let you sleep longer.”

“My girl needed to come.” He squeezes me tighter. “And I’ll happily miss some sleep to give you whatever you need.”

I run my hand over his cheek, and he leans in to kiss my wrist.

“I don’t want to go to clinical today.”

His lips curl up at my whiny tone. I’m never afraid to be myself with Blake. “What time do you need to be there?”

  “Eight-thirty.”

  “Fuck.”

“Yeah.” I snuggle into his arms, resting my head against his chest, so I can listen to his heart thump.

“Let’s grab a shower before our little monster wakes up.” He taps my butt with a few affectionate swats.

I peek across the hall, and thankfully, Alexa’s still sound asleep. Blake takes my hand, and we tiptoe to the bathroom together.

After a quick shower, he wraps me in a fluffy, pink towel and sets me on the counter. While he clears fog from the mirror, I squeeze a few drops of beard oil into my palm and rub my hands together.

He gives me a lopsided s
mile as I run my hands over his beard and gently comb the oil through with my fingers.

When I reach for my round brush and the blow dryer, he stops me. “Don’t get carried away.”

“But don’t you want to be the best-groomed biker out there?”

“Ah, no. I’m good.” He flicks his fingers against the end of his beard. “The scented stuff I let you use is enough.”

I peer down at the bottle. “What? It’s a manly scent.”

He scoffs, and I shove the bottle in his face. “Viking Warrior. You don’t get more manly than that.”

He smooths his hands over his cheeks a few times. “Those jokers were trying to convince me to shave it off before the wedding.”

  “Don’t you dare.”

He swoops in and kisses the tip of my nose. “That’s what I thought you’d say.” His serious green eyes study me. “Think I can take you out next week? I need to meet up with someone, and I want you with me.”

  “Club stuff?”

Blake lifts one shoulder and glances away. “Sort of.”

The corner of my mouth twists. “That’s informative.”

“Your brother and Charlotte are probably coming, too.”

“Whatever you need. You know that.”

  “Thanks.”

I turn and grab my birth control pills out of the cabinet, quickly popping one. Blake gives me a funny look as he hands me a glass of water.

“What?” I ask after I swallow it down. “I didn’t say I was going to stop taking them right this second.”

“I didn’t say anything,” he says slowly.

My keen mom-ears catch Alexa’s sleepy morning whine, cutting this conversation short. Blake catches me around the waist. “I got her. You need to get ready for work.”

“Let me take care of the morning potty stuff and then she’s all yours.”

He plants a quick kiss on my lips. “Deal.”

  Murphy

It’s scary how easily I lied to Heidi about last night. In my defense, I woke up with her hand around my cock. Admitting someone tried to follow me home last night would’ve distracted her from climbing on top of me.

The more I thought about it, the more it made sense that it was probably some girl from Furious. A few of them weren’t shy about hitting on me. Maybe one got it in her head she could convince me outside of work or something.
