The Futility Wars Page 28

by Magnus Thollander

Matthias turned around and spoke "I agree that humans have unlimited potential and i still believe that the link between warrior and human is the way to go for the ultimate being, a strong enough being that could find the cure to the futility to hold the line and keep them out. Defeating them even with my massive computing power gives no solution, but running and holding the line? Now that i can do with time, and i need time! Countless years and when i reach the melting point it does not matter how many fleets the futility has, i will hold the line and when their endless numbers grind themselves down to manageable i will push out and travel the path to their origin and wipe them out once and for all." He lifted his arm and Seyla stood there in shock, and she immediately connects to her warrior self and could not find an answer. A chair sided across the room and the flu violently into the wall.

"That's right, I have found out how the Ortha got their psychic abilities, It was quite simple when you think about it, They have a connection between the signals that surrounds us the hidden radiation, the uncontrollable currents that sweep every living thing. I call it the Link, between all things, The Ortha obviously got the power to talk to their people, but have they tried more? Have they tried to choke the life out of their enemy, or trying to control their minds? I guess their massive fleshly bodies are extremely vulnerable to the psychic powers of others while human seem to have a strong defense, I'm trying to get you to move your hand but you are not budging, I see your brain fire on all cylinders rejecting me, and it's a damn good defense and a great starting point. I will explore this area to the utmost after my latest project is complete, I just wanted to try it out now while a human was present, you may leave now." he said nonchalantly.

Seyla was still shocked, and she did feel a tingle in her arm just now, she was not even aware that he could lift a chair and hurl it across the room much less get her to obey a command from him without saying a word. "How?" she blurted out.

"Hmm? With science, time and a little ingenuity. There are no barriers, just doors." he said in response. She looked at him with a frown, and he gave a laugh which was extremely rare "Dark matter, The thing that exists everywhere, and we are standing in a sort of dark matter in this room, it's just not interact able and inactive in way. Black holes are simply dark matter that is in its active face, and me moving that chair is simply activating enough matter to propel it toward the wall. Takes some serious injections that i have invented and i lost a few bodies to overdosing, i finally found that going slow and steady was the key. There are too many different kinds of matter in this universe, I call it active and inactive to make it easier on myself. The inactive ones are worthless until moved by enough energy to become active, Most of the time i can only make it active for a short moment, perhaps two minutes per day. But it's enough for now, after a few years i might be able to keep it going for an hour or a year." Matthias said.

Seyla just sat down on a chair and closed her eyes." I can never understand you S-4XN-001, The moment i think of you as a person you make these weird things that makes me question you and I'm afraid, deeply afraid of you i have always been afraid of you and what you can do. Seeder was right in that you were dangerous and everyone knows it, I'm just a glorified stooge that nobody cares about, they dont respect me or treat me with an ounce of courtesy. I just want people to care about each other i just want a universe where we care about each other, and today i realize my dream died, You changed us too much to go back to the peaceful ways we once was. You are not treated as a warrior or a human in the galaxy, but a god holding his thunder above our heads. I think you enjoy it being above everyone, I think you never seen yourself as our equal or you would not have abandoned your family and friends on a planet, you know they just wanted your attention and love. I dont think you even know your siblings name, do you even know how many siblings you have? Do you even care about us?" she said with a tear running down her cheek.

He took one look at her face and calculated and processed the information, of course he knew the names of his siblings, Although he did not technically have ANY friends, but he had co-workers in a sense, He might even consider her a friend in the right setting. This was obviously work related in his book, although her little rant was bit out of the line, his feelings would be hurt if he truly cared, but he did not. She was spouting nonsense just like humans did and always did, even he spouted nonsense every once in a while while he was in his human body. It was as natural as breathing.

"You are simply being rude, And of course i care about humanity! I cannot babysit them forever, they have to make their own future. I-"

"YOU DON'T GET IT! They dont need your babysitting, They dont need your food or handouts, you dont get it? You put us on this path of having no future, you pushed everyone into your system and the warriors are fighting each other cause they know the truth, they are not important at all. Fighting the futility? You WILL fight the futility, and they will die, They are not important neither are the humans, you pretty much made it so by excluding them from everything except breeding and living. Just look at paradise system, 100% unemployment and nobody would ever get a job, why? Because they know they have nothing to work for, the unity of the human race is lost. The cooperation and kindness that i always wanted died when you finally nailed in the last spike in the coffin with the garden system, people are mining with drones in a pointless en devour which you can outmatch with 100 systems. We need a future now!" she roared.

He shook at her bluntness, and he calculated and connected to his various information networks, he scanned around read reports in a nanosecond. He lowered his head in shame he had closed his eyes to the problem, and she was right, the warriors were not fighting because of greed or lust for power. They were fighting out of boredom and the humans were breeding constantly because of boredom, He could see entertainment industries the only thing that ever made a killing in his systems and that finally made sense, people ate food to not feel hunger, but they used their body and mind to keep themselves occupied. Working a pointless job was not working at all, he could argue that any job was important, but she was right, he was harvesting more minerals from his old platforms around the many suns in his 500.000 system in a day than the billions of miners did in their lifetime, They were obsolete by technology, and he could not find an answer.

"I will admit i see no answer, but you promised that you would solve this back when i created the paradise system. You set me on this path with your recommendations, you are also responsible." He said with a harsh tone.

She paused for a moment and said "I quit, I'm going back home and I'm gonna do what i love instead of doing what i hate, I admit that i was a part of the problem, but the paradise system is productive like you wanted. I did the best i could and its never enough, you want machines not people. People are all different and never the same, no matter how much you believe it to be so."

He paused for a moment and replied "Fine, you return and do your thing, I will take over until i find someone else to take over. So, What will you do now?" he reconnected to the ships and drones he "lent" her and saw that she was not connected to anything.

She bit her lips "I'm going to be a mother" she said. Matthias raised an eyebrow at her answer, and she slowly approached him, Matthias thought she had gone insane at her bluntness and before he tried to talk to her she had thrown herself into his arms, his arms were at the side while she squeezed close he lowered his arms and gently stroked her back." Why are you being so-" "Human" she said. Matthias wanted to agree while she just stood there not moving with her arms locked behind him, he could obviously free himself quite easily he calculated several weak points that were visible to him, not to mention the shells hidden inside every wall on every floor like all his base designs in emergency situations he felt that this was not one of them.

Matthias stared at her, and she saw something in her eyes that he desired, so he let "nature" take its course, He shrugged his shoulder and gently led her to his quarters.

  Seyla could not believe w
hat she did the night earlier, and she felt conflicted about her own feelings, she did not feel like she was in love or that Matthias loved her, but she had to do this for some reason she could not put her finger on. She looked to the side and saw that he was gone and would probably not show himself to her again for some time. He must have felt like her that she was being unreasonable and her emotions got the best of her while they were disconnected from their warrior "body", she quickly scurried away from the station, She still had to get a lift from his portal ship but that was an acceptable ride like a taxi after a date, She wondered about what he would do now that she turned back control of the fleets. S-4XN-001 spent a few days monitoring the galaxy since his leaving, he needed to get a feel of it again to make the best decision.

Seyla was right about one thing, chaos once again struck the hearts of men and warrior alike and the only thing keeping the civilians out of it was his massive armada scaring them into compliance. He thought about the situation, and he would let them fight for bit longer, with a few tweaks of his technology he could cross the galaxies and let them engage the futility instead since it seemed most of them engage in battle just to fight. Humans needed an outlet of their aggression and desires and fighting the futility in the "Ortha Galaxy" was probably the ultimate thrill, If they are gonna waste time here and being unproductive they might as well throw their carcasses at the enemy to stall them a few more hours or days. He spent a few months solving the issue and triangulating the jump, and he settled on a new design made for one purpose to become a giant beacon and portal, he adapted the alien system to limit, and he was now also confident in bringing them here few hundred years earlier, i guess the company of aliens might unite the humans and solve the problem of their reckless attitude, he built the design, mind the dark matter and set his massive shipyard to work on two giant beacons and portal ships.

He estimated he would be done in two years,He paused his new "mother ship" construction until this was done, then he would complete it, He had timed he was still the top-dog in this galaxy. He let the people do their thing while he did his thing, humanity would still be there when he got back to them, He had another galaxy to visit for now.

  Year 2557

Seyla poured the fresh orange juice into the cup of the screaming toddler, and she quickly calmed down, and her twin sister was already quietly munching on some chocolate, Seyla let out a sigh at her exhausting days she had seen him quite frequently visiting, but she knew his focus was elsewhere, and she was afraid he was gonna turn them into warriors or inject them with something, she thought herself that she probably imagined the worst things, and he just wanted to pat a head or give a kiss on the forehead now and then, they both knew who the father was, and they would cry out for daddy once a week, she solved this problem with a video conference or just simply visiting with the family in her new portal ship that hovered over the paradise sector. They had plenty of playmates considering the massive amount of cousins she had with Richard still marrying and spreading his seed across the galaxy, She had found a few children with the same age, and she had booked a lot of play dates to get them some friends or not simply becoming couch-potatoes like the rest of humanity.

She took a napkin and swiped the table clean from spillage when she heard "Daddy!" she turned around and saw a black-gold covered armor on the television, she pulled the kids out of the chairs and sat them down on the couch and watched.

"MY ABSENCE OF THIS GALAXY HAS BEEN FELT AND I SEE THAT SEVERAL FACTIONS THAT I UNITED ARE NOW IN OPEN WAR, PIRACY AND GENERAL Deviance HAVE BECOME NORM IN THE GALAXY. ONLY SYSTEMS SPARED OF THIS CHAOTIC SITUATION IS THE ONES I HAVE SHIPS IN, I AM DISAPPOINTED AND WILL NOW GIVE AN ULTIMATUM TO ALL THE WARRIORS AND HUMANS THAT HAVE BROKEN THE BALANCE AND DISRUPTED THE DEFENSE OF THIS GALAXY, YOU ARE TO REPORT TO THE SYSTEM ON FOLLOWING COORDINATES WITH ALL YOUR BELONGINGS, YOU WILL NOW BE EXILED FROM THE MILKY WAY AND YOU WILL ASSIST THE ORTHA DEFENDING THEIR GALAXY, I HAVE BUILT A PORTAL THAT CONNECTS THE BOTH GALAXIES. THE FUTILITY NEED TO BE STALLED AND YOUR WORTHLESS STRUGGLES HERE ARE NOT NEEDED, REPORT OR DIE. YOU HAVE 30 DAYS TO REPORT OR BE DESTROYED." S-4XN-001 ended the broadcast of a clip with a Ortha representative asking for assistance in defending their galaxy and thanks them for any assistance since the alien alliance has left their galaxy 40 years ago.

The galaxy broke out in mayhem with the announcement and several factions immediately pulled back and quickly reported to the designated system with all their portable ships and structures, several warriors fought to the death within this 30 days to end their lives in struggle instead of being exiled and fighting for some alien race in another galaxy for the rest of their lives, S-4XN-001 already sent a personal data packet to all warriors that had to report so there would be no "mistakes" and he made his point known by dropping it of in the system their main warrior body was, Several humans that engaged in all around scummy behaviour was also sent a datapacket, and they were going to be a militia to fight and die on a planet in an alien galaxy and if they did good they might just survive long enough to return, they had a minimum enlisted time of 25 years which was basically a death sentence.

Christine shook her head when she got the data packet, she knew the rules, and she broke them with her clandestine operations on Earth, She was sent an order to report within 30 days to a spaceport in the garden system or travel to the coordinates. Her property would be abandoned, and she had the right to give away and credits or goods that she could not bring with her, she would be given a room on a massive troop transport that had been made for the exodus to the Ortha galaxy, she shook her head and just felt that she had been wronged she did several good things for the garden system and humanity as whole. She wanted to argue her point or just simply reject the order, but she knew that a "NO" would not be accepted no matter what condition she was in or the galaxy as a whole, She just took some happiness that most scum she had missed would accompany her on the journey across the galaxy to die in a futile struggle against a endless horde.

Ricardo stood on the bridge when he got the order to report to the Ortha galaxy, he was shocked at first, but then he got the memo. The vanguard would lead the defense of several planets that were in striking distance of a Futility invasion force, and they had about 2 years to dig in and delay as long as possible, he got the estimation that a fleet battle would last at least two weeks spanning hundreds of billions of ships, and then he would try to stall the enemy as long as he could on the planet, He was offered the warrior data transplant in his cortex, so he could revive, and he immediately accepted, no point in turning down life no matter what he thought about the procedure. He had no illusion that he was going to be rescued or being able to survive the futility on a planet without any support or supplies traveling in. He contacted Redmond and told him to lead the efforts in the milky way while he was away, and he got a rejection immediately. Redmond said he would lead the fighters in the system to do what little he could to stall the enemy.

Ricardo just shrugged his head while looking at the active footage of the latest invasion system, He could not even fathom a single response to a enemy of that size there were at least several hundreds of billions ships in that system, and they were engaging the Ortha on at least 600 fronts, They were truly inside a futile struggle for survival.

Qasqaer shuffled into its shell while having a fruitful conversation with the human warrior from the Milky Way Galaxy, He was quite happy to get any combatant to try to take off any of the pressure that now slowly broke apart their million year old empire, The aliens that offered their technology and assistance were quite arrogant although minor helpful in improving their technology in robotics, so they now could easily move around in the massive armored shells they wore, so they could properly interact with their technology, nothing more annoying than trying to work a machine when your entire body was a pack of lumps of meat with the sensitive to distract you whenever you felt the cold metal plates on the floor. He sent a wave of energy to announce that some help was coming and the pe
ople sent back a wave of cheers that transferred across the planet, He would send the usually data packets across their wide spanning empire to increase the morale of their troops now dying in the millions every day, Their population was in the hundreds of trillions spanning close to five millions system which now were down to just 2 million in a span of 200 years, They were losing on all fronts and the people knew it.

He would take any opportunity to improve the feelings of the people and the few billions of ships that would aid their empire was a nice distraction from the bleakness of their future, His mate had already been killed although he did not need a mate really to give birth to another, he would simply produce the needed mass for a new consciousness to take place and then spend the few months needed to recover and then repeat, But he would never do it as his principle he was an alpha to his people and that meant he would never give birth to a life so the order would not be upset. Peasants made children while the alphas ruled, their feudal society had been the only thing keeping the population in check from recklessly abandoning their home galaxy to join the poison rhetoric that the enemy was un-defeatable, Nothing would last forever, and he knew that first-hand feeling the losses of the trillions of lives that had gone from a single organism to a galaxy wide spanning empire, He would never change his mind or regret his actions the course was clear hold the galaxy and never retreat, The aliens might find a way to destroy these invaders, but he did not want his people to be vagabonds struggling endlessly instead of fighting valiantly and leaving an impression forever in the annals of history of his ancestors that first went to the stars.
