The Cyr had to perform to the best of their abilites, or they would put themselves to shame from their master which was his official title, the Cyr did not care about undermining themselves or their race as long as they had a purpose and goal, and theirs was to serve which had been ingrained in their programming since day one, and they were happy to serve if the master was worthy enough and this one were.
The meeting next day was a lot more solemn and now without the human warrior that brought everyone together or even managed to hold this part of galaxy under control, Several alien races were terrified of what the future would hold now that another race was in the reins of the most powerful fleet in existence, they could not even begin to catch up and the Cyr were completely unknown to them.
"THIS IS HOW IT WILL BE, WE CANNOT CHANGE THINGS THAT HAPPENED, BUT WE HOPE THE CYR WILL BE ABLE TO LEAST HOLD THE LINES AT OUR CORNER OF THE UNIVERSE, FOREVER. WE HAD GUARANTEES FROM S-4XN-001 WHICH IS WHY THE WARRIOR PROGRAM WAS SCRAPPED, NOT COUNTING THE ORTHA GALAXY WHICH HAS JUST BEEN RECENTLY CLEANSED AND THE FUTILITY STILL STRIKING THE BORDERS DAILY. OUR GALAXIES STILL HAVE FUTILITY PRESENT WHILE WE REBUILD, AND HOPE THE CYR CAN STILL CONTINUE THIS FIGHT, OR SHARE THE TECHNOLOGY NEEDED." a Rienka said while shuffling his leaves.
Monarch was present instead of Dragon which were going to be the only Cyr that handles any communication with the outside races, "There are a battle plan, and a plan for all the nearby galaxies. We will follow his orders to the letter and his plans as well, we will adapt if needed but your galaxies are going to be cleansed and guarded against any futility attempts of entry. Do not worry in this regard. We are all well versed in his tactics and operations since we have been working for S-4XN-001 for a long time in the shadows, ever since our races was saved by him."
Qasqaer were still worried, and he stood up in his tall shell "I BELIVE THIS INFORMATION SHOULD BE KEPT FROM EVERYONE OUTSIDE THIS MEETING FOREVER, THE RACES CANNOT BEAR TO KNOW THAT A NEW UNKNOWN ALIEN HAVE TAKEN HIS PLACE, I BELIEVE IT IS NOT HARD TO KEEP THIS SECRET FOREVER SINCE ONLY A FEW OF US EVER ENGAGED IN CONVERSATION WITH S-4XN-001 AND HE ALWAYS USES THE SAME VOICE MODIFIER IN HIS SHELL COMMON WITH ALL THE "WARRIORS". WE DO KNOW HE HARDLY INTERACTS WITH ANYONE EXCEPT IN FIRST-CONTACT SO THIS MIRAGE SHOULD NOT BE HARD SELL TO ANYONE OUT THERE."
Daniel nodded and everyone from the human side agreed, "I believe from all the data and the list of names that we have solved what needed to be done in this stage of the "game", but there is obviously at least a hundred people unaccounted for and their names ring of alien races we have not yet met, but might meet in the future. We should all re-check this list every so often and look for these names in any individual that seems important in their empire, or would meet my father in his lifetime."
Everyone nodded and were being sent back to their territory while Seyla had diapered into one of fathers hidden homes across the many galaxies, Daniel would have chased her down, but she needed time to think, Matthias would not give up his life considering how he had struggled most of it. He stepped into his personal transport and set course for milky way, he also needed time to think and spend some time with his family.
Year 3205
Many years have passed with seemingly no changes in the situation in each of the alien races empires or humanity as a whole, the futility were doing their thing with seemingly no rhyme or reason after the list was discovered and the names analyzed with no further progress, What was the point of it all? Did Matthias get tricked to kill himself was that futility plan all along? If it were why did they still fight and not simply return to where they came?.
Dragon had been thinking about it constantly while following the battle plans and strategies left behind for the Cyr to take up the cup of defending the galaxy and the futility were still picking fights even though he stopped advancing and focused more on defense, the Cyr were doubling their efforts to build and defend but there was no end-game available. The data from the hives pretty much said so and there were no reason for the futility to lie, their numbers were truly endless, and they stretched themselves from the upper part of the universe down from the center which they were at least billions of systems away from reaching.
They were boggled down in the endless struggle even his master never found a answer too and why did he have to leave us so soon before finding a critical weakness to the futility, the solar awakening device were working on the small ships but there were massive armadas filled with only hives and new ships they had not boarded yet, since there was no tactical need and Dragon felt it was feasible to defend one of the new ships while the boarding mission proceeded.
Not like they did not try to do that but the futility were a lot stronger than their smaller fleets and the mission had now changed to defensive instead of offensive which had alarmed the alien races even more, but there was no solution to the problem, and they would have to put more effort into building new weaponry and shielding technology, to truly win flawlessly because losing even one ship was a loss against an unlimited enemy.
Daniel sat down on his chair staring at the holographic images of the entire picture of the futility and the fronts they were engaged in, he felt like he needed to step up while his father was gone, he had no idea if he would return but that black light was something odd about it that he had seen before in his son Oscar, he had the same reaction when he first managed to unlock his psychic gift way ahead of any injection of the potent chemicals that sped the process along, Lana had been terrified and so had he but he kept his cool.
There was a reason Oscar was on the list, and he knew the future would reveal why, but he guessed it was because of his prowess in battle, their second son Henrik was on the list but that might not mean he was important but perhaps a backup if Oscar had died in childbirth or something else, Lana had speculated they were a defeated alien race in the future trying to attack humanity and lost, then escaped back into time itself to get revenge but Daniel knew that was impossible. They would have simply glided past any alien race and attacked milky way galaxy first.
No, There was a mystery there Daniel could not put a finger on it and his best guess was the futility DID not know the future, but were told it by someone or something. The list of names was obviously gathered in the future considering the list was programmed into the data banks over a million years ago and never updated, he believed his father in that information that it was simply transferred across the hives and never edited, but that also did not make any sense. What if there was a change in past from us knowing about the list, or was that accounted for as well?
Daniel stared at the data and then finally closed it down, he could not make sense of the futility just as his father could neither, there was no rhyme or reason about them and the people on the list seemingly had something do with his father, but was that only for the scout fleet going to wipe us out? Or were there other lists for different parts of the universe he did not know. He simply let out a sigh and walked back down to sleep.
Redmond sat in front of his screen in his commanders chair in the Vanguard manufactured Dreadnought, it was a one of a kind and a lot bigger than the massive titans, it was basically a titan on steroids but it was more for intimidation than to fight any target in the milky way, nobody would start any trouble in the milky way anymore while the Vanguard were active and patrolling lanes in the billions of ships, Humanity has always wanted to be with the winners and most of the empires outside Vanguard territory we ghosted of themselves with only a few million elites ruling over each other like some weird party games.
The outside were for tourism and the inside was for security and livable standards that had always been on the top, only about 25 discovered earth class planets outside Vanguard territory, and they had thousands now active with a population of over 13 trillion active, with all the social security they need to breed like rabbits like they used to.
Redmond had understood the mindset of humans that had no goals and that was to make more children and live most of their lives through th
em, he would never speak this aloud or even comment if anyone made similar viewpoints, mostly because there was no point the futility should be the humanities biggest concern but it was not even on Vanguards' radar really, only the commanders on the list of names were actively thinking about the situation, and in humanity as a whole there were about 147 individuals confirmed out of the 500, the rest were either dead, not born or aliens they would assume by now.
He had a few sparring sessions with the people on the list, but he was surprised at the few people not even connected to S-4XN-001 or even interacted with him that were on the list, a few he knew personally but some were unknowns and mostly scientists or diplomats that had puzzled him to no end, why were they even on the list?
He paused over this question many times, and he talked to everyone on the list to find the answer and it all lead back to him, the one who put them all together for some reason, they all had some connection to the warrior that brought stability to the milky way, and he could not figure it out, why were they hunted by the futility?
Two days later.
Redmond had volunteered for this little R&R, they needed to capture a old smuggling vessel, bringing in a highly addictive substance into a nearby station, Drug dealer were usually okay when outside Vanguard territories, but they had used one of the portals owned by the Vanguard, so they were already tagged, and they let the shipment go to get all the bad guys at one, He sat on his command chair watching the transport slowly glide into a stations dock, they already stealthily boarded and tagged all the cargo with tiny micro emitters, there would be no loss of goods this day.
"Command, This is Alpha, Packet is being offloaded and a group of men entered the dock, one of them is the station managers assistant." said a soldier, Redmond activated his radio and sent his reply "Capture the conversation and when the deal is struck get everyone rounded up." He heard the two beeps of acknowledgment and stood and waited while watching the soldiers cameras.
The criminals at least had the smarts to turn off the stations cameras and the hull cameras from the ships before dealing in this illegal activity, This was a no-event in his eyes so Redmond would let the soldiers do their things, he had full confidence in all of them. "Go! Go! Money has been transferred!" The soldiers rushed up guns pulled aimed at the loaders and the main gang dealing the drugs.
"Hands up! Now!" the soldier yelled his commands, and then something weird happen. Redmond watched the camera of the soldier suddenly levitated five meters above the ground, "FIRE AT WILL!" yelled the commander, and stun blasts were going off like a light show, and the soldier was still levitating above the ground.
"Psychic energy detected! Unknown person! ARGH!" the soldier yelled while slamming into the ground at fast speeds, He tried to crawl up but felt like something pinned his arms to the concrete, the other soldiers started to rush up the ship firing at anyone walking and double stunning those in the dock.
Redmond watched the soldiers frantically start to search the ship for the psychic user but coming up empty-handed, the one soldier were still trapped to the ground with his arms shaking, Redmond frowned, there was no way there was someone powerful enough to act if they were not visible, no matter how good you were there limitations he always thought.
He pushed the button to send some help in this situation, and he got a immediately reply from the only psychic user in the vanguard, Evan was the only psychic from the temple that left and joined the Vanguard for some reason, and Redmond had never used his expertise before, but he needed it now.
Evan immediately set course and the portal drives took him there instantly within a minute, he docked in his powerful temple warrior armor which he still had, Juliet had gifted it to him to use on the outside, and he was more of suspended member than a real one at this point, but he was always welcomed back, and he had gone there a few times to water the plants and tell them about the outside world, they had given so much to him in experience, so he had to return the favor every few years.
Evan stepped onto the dock and something was wrong, this was not an ordinary psychic, he had never felt such a terrible pull and if the soldier did not wear armor his arms would have snapped like twigs, he frowned at looked around for the source, and he could see the visible string leading somewhere, he followed it with his stun pistol drawn, and he spotted what looked like a container.
He motioned the soldier to surround the container, and he popped open the lock, and his eyes widened when he looked inside. "Redmond, We got something. Something I can't explain, It grips the soldier and it's alive, but i do not know how to stop it without killing it."
Evan said while looking down the container.
Two hours later.
The container had been investigated and a solution was made with the help of a few more temple psychics, they would simply feed it with psychic energy and it stopped gripping the soldier, they pulled it into unmanned cargo ship with a tiny psychic generator active and the "thing" was quiet almost sleeping, Ricardo sat on a chair in the command central with several of his vanguard colleagues and asked the question. "What is it?"
Everyone was silent and Redmond let out a sigh, "The temple believe.... it's a manifested will of the universe. That's exactly what they said. It's not something they understand but you know how they are, they are not really scientists. Our own scientist have taken a look at it, and confirms its extraterrestrial. It's not from the galaxy or any nearby ones. Nobody has recorded this lifeforms before."
Ricardo rubbed his chin looking at the data and it was almost as vague as the temples "guess" what it was, it was there but not there, you could separate it and smash it, but it would just mend back to itself. Evan thinking he could kill it had been an overstatement, that thing contains enough energy to blow up the solar system they were currently in, and destroying it would have killed at least 500.000 people on that station.
The thing was stored in a system far away from anyone at the edge of another galaxy to be sure it could not harm the milky way, and they needed answers what it is. Redmond spoke up "Ricardo, I think this is why those scientists are on the list, they need to investigate it, look at their backgrounds they are well versed in many subjects but the main connecting one is, Biomedical Engineering. This is what we need to fight the futility. I know it."
Ricardo nodded and Ericka spoke up "Redmond, You were stuck thinking about that list for too long, It's just a list of names, this thing is dangerous... maybe it's here to hurt us, but looking at it attacking one of our soldiers, I'm damn sure it's not friendly."
Bickering broke out in the room and there was a clear cut divide about how to approach this subject, Ricardo would have wanted to space it into a sun if it was ever a threat to the milky way but something spoke to him. It was not here to hurt them, it was here to help them do something he could not understand.
Ricardo stood up "I'm gonna contact the scientists and ask them if they wish to work on it, i will also contact Seyla and Daniel about it as well, If anyone can figure it out it's them."
The room agreed when they heard the names of the two legendary individuals in the galaxy.
Seyla was staring at the liquid in the now glass container with a few scientist surrounding it taking data from the glass itself, They had managed to block it's powerful psychic abilities with the help of Daniel and his nullifier which were simply a few psychics creating barriers around the glass to help migrate the effects, there were several hundred psychics on the station constantly rotating to keep this thing in check.
Seyla looked at the goo hovering in the air sometimes the shape of a ball sometimes the shape of a black hole, always changing when needed to suit its goal, if it was hungry it would turn into a black hole and if it was content it would turn back into a ball, she had no idea what it was or how it came here. It was interesting to watch but nothing clicked with her.
Daniel approached and stood next to her "It's a unknown substance, we interrogated the dockworkers and it was not there before being sealed into t
hat container, there is nothing special about that container it was supposed to contain just some cheap alcohol, but this was inside."
Seyla watched the "thing" and she knew it was important somehow but her mind had been focused on other things to keep him out of her thoughts, she did not want to think her husband was dead and simply on some other adventure and then returning when he got bored, which was quite quickly usually.
She stared at the object and felt the floor shake "What's going on!? Energy signature is spiking, everyone gets out quick!" the voice sounded out, Daniel quickly pulled Seyla, but she would not move, "Mom!" he started to pull even harded, but she pushed him down to the ground, and he was not ready for that, and he hit the ground.
Daniel saw something in Seyla's eyes, and he turned to the object and his mind shook, and he passed out immediately. There was a bright white flash and after a few seconds the room was empty with Seyla vanished and Daniel slowly breathing while his eyes were closed in a squint.
He woke up in a hospital room alone, and he immediately shot up to his feet and entered the hallway and set his footsteps toward the room with most people, he entered a room while in meeting, and they all gasped when they saw him awake, "Daniel, Sit please." Daniel turned toward the voice and saw it was Yui, which he had not seen in a long time.
"Go over from the beginning" she said, and the scientist nodded, and he simply pushed a button and it went back a slide on the holographic display, "What i saw before being interrupted, The data is clear, it was a portal activating in middle of the room for 4 milliseconds, and Seyla was taken in by the portal which encompassed her perfectly. Daniel was struck by the powerful vacuum and with his powerful physique he was only knocked out, when his brain rattled."
The scientist switched slides "This is a still frame taken from the camera active in the chamber, do you see it? I let you describe what you see." the scientist said while waiting for a moment, Daniel stared at the picture and it hit him instantly.
