The Futility Wars Page 50

by Magnus Thollander

Several thousands of alien elite that had unlocked their psychic energy natural from early age or simply being born lucky launched an immediate assault on Ler'ren while flying toward him at the speed of light, Ler'ren immediately countered with a massive shield that deflected all the energies, but he was looking like he took at least some damage. The allies kept throwing their energies and hoping he would die.

Daniel looked up into the void and saw the main battle plan had activated, and he signaled on his wrist computer, to send the signal... All our attack!. Suddenly billions of Ortha and other natural psychic races rushed out of nowhere and pushed toward the soul furnace immediately, Ler'ren were occupied and this was the moment to push through to get to the main price, as long as they could get the main queen inside the furnace they would win.

The alien army were pushing ahead and jumping through a lot of weird portals and wormholes to get closer to that constant pull that gripped your soul, Daniel even rushed headfirst into a random portal hoping he would get closer and closer to the objective, and then he had no idea what he was supposed to do or how to "win" but his father knew and that was someone he could trust get the job done.

Matthias lied lifeless on the bottom of a steel floor soaked in liquid which was now spinning like a vortex in place, the giant pool were visibly draining and whatever he had set in motion was now in its final stage to begin the ultimate experiment of his lifetime.

They were pushing the final limits of their bodies while assault the final passage which were guarded by a massive futility army which were spitting acid globs and hacking away at the attacking troops, they were losing billions and the battle was not going in their way. But they had numbers and a lot of time on their side and Daniel tried to get through but it seemed they managed to lock down the entire area around the furnace, no way in except pass what looked like a hive.

"We need to flank them! Get in there!" yelled Ricardo over the radio which were simply echoing in the space to all his allies, he managed to find a way to send orders without yelling it out to everyone but simply creating a radio and giving one to everyone that entered the portal, they were fighting on beaches, mountains and even inside oceans to reach the portal to the furnace, but he knew it would not be this easy.

Something in the back of his head screamed that there was an endless amount of enemies waiting for something, and he had no idea what it was, but he had to press on and hope that whatever they were doing was the right path, there were no going back when everyone life were staked on this battle.

Matthias eyes finally opened, and he was drifting slowly across the stream toward the furnace, he was a lot closer than he wanted to be before waking up but this was his trick to fool the enemy into the ultimate backdoor attack, Matthias were confident the futility would be busy with the billions of allies he now had fighting the futility and keeping their minds occupied from what he was about to do.

He stopped his momentum and after a few seconds was still in the stream, he tried to focus on the entire length of the stream, and he looked for the middle point, the furnace was obviously the quick and easy way to win the battle but it was not the only way to win the battle. He glanced at a direction and immediately started to drift again until he reached that spot.

After what felt like eons he arrived just before the furnace, he saw the portal the stream entered and that led straight to the furnace connecting the path that controlled all the souls or whatever it was, He always assumed it was the soul since there was no other word to describe it, he simply rolled his hand in a circle motion slowly while heat was begin to form between his hands. He kept rolling and rolling until a ember started to appear, and he put his hand inside the stream and started to weave the stream into a flame.

He smiled when he saw a tiny string of the stream finally attach to the little ember and started to ignite itself into a flame, he kept going and going until he finally connected all the links, He kept holding the flame which had grown bigger and bigger, and he whispered into the universe for the final action to begin.

Seyla sat in her office waiting with Yui and Ever bloom which were singing in a potted plant, He could fly around all the wanted but something about rooting was quite relaxing and acceptable for their lifestyles, they did not care about how they were rooted just that they were in something that contained water and nutrients.

Ever bloom suddenly stopped singing and stood there waving his leafs like a wind was traveling across the office, "Six, Eight,Seven, Two" he blurted out with his powerful mind, Seyla was startled and entered the numbers into to the computer to look up that specific plan, Seyla had browsed the thousands of different variations of the plans, and she did not like 90% of them, most of them would end in trillions of lives lost.

She stared at the screen intently reading, and she finally let out a breath of air "Yui, It's good, call Dragon and tell him to go full force against the futility, It's time for the end-game. As they say." Everbloom were still repeating the numbers and Seyla poured a little more water on his head which he enjoyed even more than rambling what that powerful psychic told him what to do.

Yui stood up and went to speak directly to the council, no point in letting them sweat in their own misery while they had some good news to share, She rushed down the corridor into her dock and entered her custom spaceship and set course for that station.

She immediately unlocked and entered the council chamber which were now filled with alien races to the brim, and a few human ambassadors as well they could not hog all the seats with one family. She walked into the middle of the room or rather she rode a disc shaped floor panel that clicked in place.

"We do not have to sacrifice anyone! The plan works! We should now begin to train to achieve any form of psychic or mental energies unlocked, The battle is going as planned and i have a feeling we will soon be victorious and our people safe forever!" Yui said.

There were a thunderous cheers and applause and the few alien races that had no vocal cords tipped their heads in gratitude or their various weird appendages flailing. Yui simply flew back to her seat with the aid of the panel that carried her, and she sat down "Now, Let's begin to see who needs what."

Dragon got the immediate battle plan which had been stored in his data banks, the entire Cyr race stopped whatever they were doing and focused finally on a task set out by their master. They were manning every single ship and set course for any place that contain a futility fleet, it was time for a massive purge.

The fleets started to appear on mass and got into predetermined fleets and suddenly vanished and warped into the thick of battle, and the futility was not prepared at all. Trillions of highly advanced battleships dropped into the countless system futility held and started a massive war of a scale unheard-of, countless trillions of futility would die, and they could do nothing about it but struggle like the bugs they were.

There was a massive wave of energy and countless missiles made for wiping out galaxies were firing wildly across the universe, striking any full held futility system killing countless amount of enemies, there was no point in holding this galaxy when it was about to be destroyed so go all out, no point in saving a few rocks.

The people of the galaxy trembled in fear when he saw the many video feeds being available about the war which was now ongoing at full force, the few aliens that were "outside" the council immediately requested to join when seeing that massive fleet and the countless weapons that suddenly made galaxies vanish from the map by the hour, Dragon was doing his part, and he hoped his people could be salvaged to be able to serve in the other world.

Ricardo was struggling to hold the line and countless aliens and humans had perished when the futility counter-attacked, They were doing fine until Ler'ren emitted a massive screech and a massive number of ambushed appeared when portals opened across the battlefield which were endless, but they were not skilled enough to disengage or rather they could not beacuse they had to stick to the plan.

  Ricardo had no idea how
Matthias would feel when he saw a few of his sons die and vanish into lights when the massive overpowered hive queens of the futility showed themselves and started to engage for real, Ricardo had survived a direct attack but Redmond had died as well and vanished into a black light which he had no idea what to do, they were in a hopeless situation.

"Ricardo! We are losing, we need to retreat! ARGH-!" Daniel yelled while having a massive hole in his back, he plummeted to the ground and struggled to get up. Ricardo immediately rushed forward to scoop him up and pull him to safety when he felt something behind him, he saw Ler'ren smiling, and he felt a warm sensation in his body, he looked down and saw a claw pierce his stomach and ripped him in half, he struggled for a moment before vanishing into a light beam.

Daniel were struggling to get to his feet, and he tried to channel his energy to heal his wounds, but he was too exhausted to get up, he heard screaming and yelling for what felt like a hour before it was silent, he heard alot of clicking from the futility mandibles, and he was surrounded with Ler'ren looking at him like he was a piece of garbage.

Daniel stared at him knowing the battle was over, several billions of people had just died, and he hoped it was for a good reason, his father was usually never wrong, but he might be in this scenario there was no way they were going to reach the furnace, and he hoped the backup was worth it, he rather wanted his father was here to put down a smackdown on that smug face that looked at him.

"Daniel is it?" the mandibles clicked, "I would rather fight your father, but he is too cowardly to come here, considering he is killing my people in the universe instead of being here, Foolishness has always been a human trait and your plans end here, We will persevere, and we will begin again in a new galaxy... You have failed"

Daniel scoffed "I have no idea what my fathers plans are and neither do you, but do you think humanity is anything but resilient? Our people have been in constant warfare against ourselves since the beginning of our race, we should have been wiped out by our own hand, but we never did, because we are united. We might go too far sometimes, but we would never hurt humanity as a whole, we take and leave behind a trail of destruction and mayhem, but there is always someone fighting to restore and preserve what we destroyed."

Ler'ren looked at Daniel like he was speaking nonsense and scoffed, he was waiting for Daniels next words. "You already lost the moment you threaten the galaxy which we occupied, I believe everyone should live in peace and fight for the common good, especially when the universe is endless... But i know the truth that sometimes you have to start a fire and let it all burn so the trees will regrow in the ashes of destruction, and you are the best kindling for this universe. And perhaps in time another race will take this place from us humans and countless aliens and use our ashes to be reborn, But i know one thing is true, we already won and you los-"

Daniel vanished into a light beam when a claw cut into his heart, he slowly floated into the sky and was dragged away by a endless wave into the unknown. He had no control of himself and glided across what felt like eons looking at the endless darkness with a few wisps of light sometimes lightning up like lighthouses guiding this travels.

He was disappointed that he lost in battle and probably lost the battle as a whole, he would cry out in frustration, but he could do nothing but glide towards the probably hell scape which was the soul furnace that would grind him to dust over the few years this universe had before it was reborn, he was just happy it would be short compared to the billions of years some had been in there.

Suddenly he saw something in front of him that looked like a net in front of him, and he slowly glided into place, he saw countless wisps and souls from humans and futility alike, most of the futility were slowly sipped through the net into some other area which he had no idea was, but he was trapped in the net and when he saw that there were no more futility inside the net quickly raised itself up and a new one came into existence behind him.

He felt like he traveled across dimensions, and he let out a massive cough and started to puke, he felt like his body hurt allover, and he lied down on the floor breathing heavily, it took him a moment to register he was "alive" he slowly struggled to stand, and he saw a several other humans and aliens laid on the metal floor, he yelled out to see if anyone was alive and awake.

A few struggled to his feet after he yelled and most of them coughed loudly like their heart started up, he looked around and saw his brother laid in a comatose state, and he jumped over a few fellow humans to poke his brother, "Don't touch him, Daniel. He will wake in time." He heard a voice behind him and he turned around.

He saw Matthias smiling wearing a loose fit robe like an ancient drama which were popular in the temple as clothing, "Dad?!" was the only word Daniel could utter before being engaged in a hug. "We did it Daniel, We won the battle and the futility are none the wiser, You all stalled them long enough i was able to fish out your souls from the river of souls."

Daniel looked around and saw more and more people start to rise to their feet, Marcus was one of them, and he groaned, After a few minutes his brothers Kenny and Patrick also arrived before their father, a few aliens and humans were listening in either hanging around in the air above or standing in a circle.

"Allies! Friends! What you did was just enough for us to win this battle, the futility are completely unaware they lost the war, and they will never know until it's too late. The soul furnace is no longer needed! I have created a new soul furnace that will suck the old one dry when the galaxy ends! And i hope those people able to leave will teach the rest of the species in the galaxy to join us here. Most of us cannot leave anymore." Matthias said.

He waved his hand a gateway appeared "Now go! Bring back our people! Those who see the gateway as blue enter, those that see it as black must stay. Or your soul will vanish forever." Countless humans and aliens flew into the gateway rushing into the universe to bring their friends and loved ones here.

Matthias snapped his finger and the room collapsed and soon a miniature galaxy was born with planets of different sizes and some were complete copies of their original home worlds.

Everbloom blurted out "Victory! Victory" in a powerful mental wave that reached the entire council chamber, he had been uprooted and placed there as a immediately reply if the plan failed and not and soon a gateway were beginning to open across the universe and some even in the council chamber, countless people left and retold what Matthias had said, they were fighting against time now and not the futility ever again.

Seyla immediately told the council to prepare their people and start sending ambassadors, that "place" needed to be split and rules needed to be laid down so no further conflict was needed amongst allies and friends.

  13 years, 8 months later.

Everyone stood in front of a massive screen that covered the entire universe from the inside of the other world which they named paradise, Soon the universe would collapse and be reborn and most of the military men stood in respect for the place that birthed them, Matthias was standing in front of everyone while holding Seylas hand.

Two little girls were holding onto Seyla's robe while watching the screen, it was their latest batch of children which answered the question if you could give birth inside the paradise they now housed, their lives were mostly the same except most people were flying around and conjuring whatever they wanted and did whatever they wanted.

There had been strict rules in place about "engaging" in violence or any sort of negative acts and a new Vanguard force had been formed with all races participating keeping the peace, which was rare in itself. Only two people had their souls destroyed for breaking the rules too many times, there were a few in prison but that was acceptable.

Everyone suddenly felt a tug and Matthias looked at the soul furnace which suddenly started to shake and suck in the old furnace which were trapped in a dimension Matthias created around the paradise, He had successfully fooled the futility that they won by building a layer around the paradise itself and
by creating a new soul furnace which he fueled by the countless trillions of futility souls he managed to win the war.

There was about a 10% chance of the mission going so well, but after watching the futility he knew why... They were all slumbering waiting for new souls to gnaw thinking the battle was over, Perhaps that's what all these people would do as well when the new galaxy formed, sleep for an eternity until something entertaining happened.

There was a massive rumble and Matthias smiled when he heard the Futility queens roar in anger and sadness when the paradise suddenly started to suck their souls out into the furnace, he had completely outplayed them, and he almost felt bad about killing them but there was no option to let them be here with all of these rookies, they had the numbers to win and had to be destroyed.

The universe started to slowly revolve and after what felt like a nanosecond it collided into giant explosion and the soul furnace simply vanished from the paradise and were now in middle of the new galaxy which combined with the rocks, everyone looked in puzzlement when the mass suddenly turned into energy and vanished... They all blinked when a white flash appeared on the screen.

Suddenly a new galaxy appeared instantly and the soul furnace immediately teleport ed back into the paradise and was now completely empty, it lost its golden luster and was now a slow gray. Matthias looked around the planets and felt like something tugging his powerful energies, he switched view and suddenly saw tiny specs of molecules and microbes battle in a ocean on a perfect planet, this was the first form of life and everyone cheered.

  Countless years later.

Nen pulled the cart down the road with the latest batch of herbs and goods for the old hermit on the edge of the village, Nen had always been interested in the alchemist that healed their sick with his magical potions, Nen had asked to be an apprentice but been denied constantly, he would try every time he delivered the goods, but he would not beg.
