Aunt Deirdre had passed away, and Grant had her cremated, sprinkling her ashes in the Delaware River where that damned thumb drive had been tossed on their first Christmas Day together. They'd gone to a party at Felicity and Lance's home on Christmas Eve and had a great time playing pool, Twister, and 'Name That Tune', with several other good friends of theirs who weren't into the lifestyle. Grant could honestly count it as the first happy Christmas he'd ever had in his life.
As for Kade Blume? Felicity told him she'd heard Kade's wife had kicked him out because she'd caught him cheating with a guy he found on a D/s website. They had three children, and Felicity had been enlisted to sell their large home in King of Prussia. Kade had lost it in the divorce settlement, and his wife wanted to move back to New York. It seemed fitting, Grant thought.
"I made reservations for eight at The Chop House," Kyle reminded as he nibbled on Grant's earlobe.
Grant smiled to himself. What Kyle Rance didn't know was after their anniversary dinner, he'd find himself an engaged man. Grant was forty-two, and Kyle was thirty-six. It was time to make it legal.
Over the years, Grant had considered harming himself when things got to be too difficult, but the memory of the man he loved with that cat-o'-nine-tails, beating himself, had struck a chord in Grant he never believed he'd be able to shake.
He'd seen many people receive punishment at the hands of a Dom or a Master, but they weren't people who mattered to Grant, so he watched it as a spectator, not really giving a shit just like everyone around him.
Seeing Kyle beating himself had sickened Grant more than he ever believed possible. Kyle was the man of his dreams, and if he was so willing to inflict pain upon himself to try to understand Grant's point of view, Grant knew he was fucked up and wanted to get help, which he did.
He finally felt he was the man Kyle deserved, and that night after wining and dining his partner, he would take the ultimate step. There was no collar as binding as a wedding band. The best part was they would both wear them proudly.

About the Author
I am proud to say I grew up in the rural Midwest until I was fortunate enough to meet a dashing young man who swept me off my feet and to the East Coast where I now live with my family, one aging Yorkshire Terrier, and a tremendous amount of gratitude for the life with which I’ve been blessed.
I have a loving, supportive family who kindly overlooks my addiction to writing, reading, and the extensions of my hands…my computer to write, or my Kindle Fire to read the stories others write. I’m old enough to know how to have fun but too old to care what others think about my definition of a good time. In my heart and soul, I believe I hit the cosmic jackpot with the life I have, and I try to remember to thank the Universe for it every day. Cheers!
