Shifting his massive dick inside her, Lano located her G-Spot, pressed her lower back into his waist and didn’t let up. Feeling his nut sneak up, he hurriedly flipped them over, pulled out and dove head first between her legs. Anika’s eyes rolled to the back of her head, and when she tasted herself on his lips, the corners of her mouth lifted into a smile and eyes misted.
Her chest tightened at the love she felt for Lano. It coursed through her body as he slow stroked her pussy. Her legs were pushed back, leaving her completely open to him. Legs, heart, mind, body, and soul belonged to DeLano mothafuckin’ Trevino, and she let him know it.
“Oh, my goo- I’ma-I’ma cum. This is yours,” she cried.
Lano went deeper. “Nobody else’s?”
Her head thrashed against the sheet. The pillow had long ago fell to the carpet. “No! Nobody but yours, bae! Fuuuck! I love you! I love you!”
When she began to squirt, coating Lano’s tattoo decorated chest with her nectar, he couldn’t hold his nut back. Seconds later, his balls tightened and what felt like buckets of cum shot from the head of his penis.
“Sssshhiit,” he let out, trying to catch his breath. Laying atop her plush boobs, Anika rubbed his back. “I love you, Anika. Whatever you ask of me is done, baby. I mean that shit.”
Anika blinked back tears as she stared at the ceiling. What she wanted from him she knew wouldn’t be an easy thing to get done. Leaving the streets, violence, and stress behind them right now just wasn’t possible. Lano had made the mistake before of letting his enemies make it, but not anymore. He’d be crushed if anyone else in their life got hurt because of his decisions. Anika was going to hold it down for her man, but at what cost?
Standing tall with his head held high, Lano looked ahead as the judge lifted her head and focused her gaze on him. It’d been three days since their return to California and the days leading up to his court date had everyone on edge. Especially Anika, but Seth assured them that today they’d be hearing good news. That’s all Anika wanted to hear today; anything else the judge could keep. She sat with a twisted stomach and sweating palms the entire time.
“Mr. Trevino, I see you have a few businesses in your name.”
“Yes, I do your honor,” Lano replied evenly.
She nodded and continued to read over the papers in front of her. This was his first offense, but it’d been brought to her attention from the prosecutor that he was affiliated with a known gang of the city. Having an unlicensed gun on him and tied to such criminals, those whom she’s locked up before, further concluded her decision.
“You seem to be a stand-up guy in this community,” she stated.
“I’d like to think that as well,” Lano acknowledged, and she gave him a tight-lipped smile and a head nod.
Lano felt his blood begin to boil. Anika’s on the other hand, was freezing over. The black, middle-aged woman sitting at the head of the court room’s voice was annoying her. She wished she’d get straight to the point. The judge had already made up her decision when the prosecutor decided to speak his peace.
“Your honor, may we recommend that his bail be revoked? Mr. Trevino has already left out of the country for three weeks before traveling to his hometown while out on bond. I think that’s flight risk worthy.”
Lano’s jaw clenched so tightly, his teeth ached, and Anika’s heart dropped to her feet. What the hell does he mean flight risk! She wanted to scream aloud.
“Mr. Goldwin,” the judge addressed Seth, Lano’s lawyer. “Were you aware that your client left out of the country for three weeks before traveling to his hometown of Kansas City, Missouri?”
Seth swallowed hard. “Yes, your honor I was just made aware.”
“So, you didn’t know the day of, correct?”
“No. No, I didn’t know until a few days ago.”
She nodded. “When he returned I’m assuming?”
“Yes. That’s correct.”
She nodded again, and Anika knew whatever was about to happen was wrong. One silent minute passed before the judge spoke and broke Anika’s heart, while Lano wanted to break her face.
“Mr. Trevino, I’m going to go ahead and deny any bail for release and remand you until a later date. Sometimes, we don’t think clearly when we’re placed in situations. I understand you may have wanted to clear your mind and get away, but that wasn’t very smart. You are now seen as a flight risk and to be kept in jail until your trial.”
Anika’s head whipped in Seth’s direction as her eyes popped wide. She had to have misheard the judge. Surely, she wasn’t about to detain Lano. No, that couldn’t possibly be correct, she thought.
Her decision to keep him wasn’t solely based off her newfound information, but some that the prosecutor had informed her of the day before. Being affiliated to a well-known gang and having ties to them also furthered her decision. She could have let him out on bond until the ballistic report on the gun came back, but refused.
“Your honor. My client isn’t a flight risk, and it’s highly unnecessary to keep him until a trial date is set. He’s been abiding by the law since release.”
“Right! Since when you can’t go out of the country,” Anika seethed.
She was so upset her entire frame was shaking. Lano cut his eyes her way, and he was silently pleading with her to relax, but, how could she? This judge was about to lock her man up for fucking traveling? She wasn’t going for it.
The judge looked her way with an annoyed expression before focusing her gaze on Seth. “No. My decision is made. Mr. Trevino, you will be kept in custody until a date is set for you to appear in court again. Court is adjourned.”
Seth wasn’t giving up. “Your honor, please,” he begged.
“Good day Mr. Goldwin,” she replied as guards began to make their way toward Lano and Anika lost it. Shock flew through her frame as she and Lano’s eyes connected.
Rushing to him, she tossed her arms around him and squeezed tight. “No! You said we’d be good, bae. They can’t do this. You have to do something,” she cried, looking toward Seth.
A dreadful look masked Seth’s face, and he was almost afraid to look in Lano’s eyes. Had he, he’d know that they were dilated and empty. An anger like he only felt twice before in his life filled his body as the judge’s ruling resonated with him. In her mind, Lano was guilty. He had committed the crime, though all proof wasn’t in, and she just wanted to take his freedom. A black man’s freedom for the mere thought of him disobeying the law that couldn’t even protect and serve like they were supposed to. Lano was sick to his fucking stomach and hearing Anika’s cries had him scorching hot.
Holding her tightly as she cried, Lano whispered in her ear. “Sssh. We good. Don’t let these pussy mothafuckas see you break down. Hold your head up.”
“I-I can’t. They can’t take you from me. From your family,” she cried, lifting her head in the process.
Grabbing ahold of his face, she kissed all over it while Lano struggled to hold his emotions together. His heart was aching for his baby, but for once in his life, he couldn’t do anything to ease the pain. There was nothing bullets from his semi-automatic couldn’t handle, but this was a different caliber of an enemy. It was the justice system. The type that locked you up, turned you into an animal on the inside and captured your mind.
Lovingly, Lano placed a kiss on her lips to silence her cries. Her tears wet his face up as she held onto him so tightly.
“Ma’am, we’re gonna have to ask you to let him go,” one of the guards said ready to cuff him.
“Bae, I gotta go,” Lano spoke softly against her ear. He didn’t want to push her away and never would, but he wouldn’t be able to control himself if one of the guards touched her. Anika, not caring what they were talking about, continued to hug her man. The longest they’d ever gone without seeing one another was three to four days at the most. Not knowing how long he’d have to sit while awaiting trial was making her have a slight anxiety attack.
“W-What if someo
ne comes after me again?” she cried, looking into his painfilled orbs.
Her question shot him in the heart. As if someone had placed a gun to his chest and pulled the trigger, Lano’s heart bled out at the frightened look on her face. The promises he once made couldn’t be repeated because while behind bars, he couldn’t physically protect her or ensure that anyone else would hurt her.
Placing his forehead against hers, Lano wrapped his arms around her one last time. He wanted to memorize himself with her scent, the feel of her body against his, the softness of her voice, curve of her smile and the way her love made him feel. What he didn’t want to have etched in his mind was the disappointment and hurt in Anika’s eyes. It would haunt him for however long his sit down was going to be. When he pulled away, Lano’s facial expression was drawn in agony, but not over his own pain. Anika’s tearstained face, quivering lip, and questioning eyes crushed his soul. A stab of guilt lay buried in his chest.
“Nik, I love you baby. We gon’ thug this lil’ time out and come out on top, a’ight?”
Her mind was languid, without hope but she nodded slowly anyway. Not sure if she had even heard what he fully asked. Swallowing the despair in her throat, she spoke the words that would hold him over until he saw her face again.
“I love you DeLano,” her voice cracked. “I love you so much.”
“You still riding for me?” he asked as the guards began to cuff him.
Anika’s chest caved as a nauseating feeling washed over her. “Always.”
She didn’t leave out of the courtroom until she could no longer see Lano. She still smelled him. Felt his presence lingering in the air. The masculinity of him suffocated Anika as she climbed in the car they rode in together. His absence had her choking, it was so thick. A sensation of sickness and desolation swept over her before she could blink. Opening her car door in a rush, vomit spewed from her lips like hot lava. Their connection had been broken, and Anika felt that they might as well have locked her up as well.
“I can’t believe this,” she whispered with such raw emotion, as tears slid down her face.
Makeup? Ruined. Lashes? She was removing them as soon as she got… home? The thought of returning to Lano’s parent’s house without him caused a gut-wrenching bawl to fill the inside of her car. The whole world seemed to be moving in slow motion. Anika felt like she was in a stuck in a dream world; a horrific, nightmarish dream world.
Reaching for her phone with the strength she did have, Anika’s hands moved at a speed of their own, and she somehow managed to call Lina. She sat slouched with heavy tear continuing to fall as the phone rang loudly.
“Hey, Nika? How’d it go?”
When Anika sniffled, Lina froze up. “Anika. What’s going on honey? What’d they say?”
“T-They locked him up.”
Her reply was lowly spoken but filled with so much pain, Lina felt it through her phone. It drifted through the airwaves and placed a chokehold on her emotions. One look at his wife and DeNelo knew what the outcome was. Pulling her into him, DeNelo took the phone from her trembling hand.
“Anika, we’re on our way to get you. Sit tight for me, okay?”
She nodded, unable to vocalize her reply right away. “I can’t believe this.”
The grit in her words made DeNelo want to get to her quicker. The type of anger, confusion and hurt stirring inside her wasn’t good for anyone. Especially not anyone who was dating a trained murderer. Vicious thoughts crossed Anika’s mind as the look on the judge’s face flashed before her. Her fist clenched and she hung up the phone. Closing her eyes, she took a deep breath, but they popped back open when she felt vibrations coming from her passenger seat. Her phone was in her hand, so she was confused as to whose phone could be ringing until it hit her.
Reaching inside her purse, her stomach churned at the sight of Lano’s cell phone. While the two were hugging, he slipped it into the front of her purse out of the guards’ eyesight. Juvie was calling to see how everything went. The entire crew was expecting him to get a slap on the wrist, like some hours of probation or some shit. Him getting locked up wasn’t even a thought they pondered on for long.
Answering his call, Anika got straight to the point this go around. Sad Anika had left the building for a few and replaced that emotion with anger. Anybody and their fucking mamas could get it today.
“Y’all need to make a trip. Lano got locked up,” she said.
Juvie bit into his bottom lip, and his eye twitched. When he and Sen made eye contact, the two nodded already knowing what it was. “We’ll be there in a few hours. I’ll bring Solai with me.”
“Please. I need her right now.”
Juvie told her he’d text her when they landed, and they hung up. Juvie felt it in his spirit that something wasn’t right. There was no way his boy should have been locked up for a damn misdemeanor especially with no priors. He didn’t know what the hell was going on with the prosecution, but it wouldn’t take long once he landed to get shit shaking and figure it out. Anika wasn’t the only one down to ride. Lano had some real killers on his team, and the wrong move from any of their enemies was a guaranteed death certificate. The judge may have locked up who she considered a menace to society but failed to realize there were plenty more ready and willing to put in work. She’d better be prepared to lock them all away if that’s the route she wanted to take because Juvie and Sen together were some untamed fucking beasts.
Chapter 10
A depression unknown to Anika clung to her being for weeks after Lano was locked up. It didn’t help that she hadn’t heard from him in a week. He’d been locked up at the San Diego County Jail for a month now. If Anika had to be honest with herself, she was fucking with some straight and narrow dudes before Lano. He was in a league of his own. She didn’t know how to even put time on her phone so she could receive his calls. All the jail 411 she needed to know was told to her by Rylee, who had been so supportive through it all, and by Neicey.
She flew down for a day to check on her girl when Solai came down. Seeing how out of it she was, made her fly back home and show Sen more love than she was already giving him. Anika was down bad and hated that she couldn’t shake the funk she was in. The only thing she did do was type her feelings out. The words she couldn’t convey to those around her were typed so she could visibly see what she was going through. Had she not, she was sure she was dreaming.
“Anika, you hungry?” Rylee called out, peeking her head around the entrance of the kitchen.
“No, I’m fine.”
“You need to eat something. I am not trying to hear that boy’s mouth when he comes home about you losing all this weight,” Lina fussed walking over to her. “Come on in here. It’s just some spaghetti and chicken from Ruth’s.”
“I told Lano I wouldn’t eat at Ruth’s without him,” she said sadly, making tears form in Rylee and Lina’s eyes.
“Awww, boo. I’m sure he was just joking.”
Anika looked up at Rylee and gave her a soft smile. “No, he wasn’t,” she chuckled and stood to her feet. “But, since he hasn’t called me all week, I’m eating some.”
“That’s what I like to hear,” Lina beamed giving her a side hug. “And what you mean he hasn’t called you all week?”
“Maybe he’s in the hole?” Rylee said questioningly.
Lina shook her head. “Don’t say that.”
“What other reason would he have not to call me? He gon’ hear my mouth when he does call. I can promise you that,” Anika grumbled fixing her plate.
Lina only sighed heavily as they moved about the kitchen. For Lano to not have called anyone, especially Anika, she knew he was probably going through a phase. That’s what she’d go with rather than thinking negatively. She couldn’t believe that her son was in jail for a bullshit misdemeanor charge, but there was nothing they could do at the time. Seth was doing everything except breaking the law to try and get his case moving along, but to no avail, they were still slow poking around.

The trio sat around the table chowing down in the middle of the day when the doorbell rang. Since Rylee was the closest, she offered to grab it and stood to her feet. Moving the pasta around on her plate, Anika frowned. She wasn’t hungry at first, but now had a taste for a totally different meal. Even Ruth’s wasn’t hitting the spot like she wanted it to.
At the door, Rylee stood toe to toe with Samia. Knowing Lano more than likely hadn’t given her the okay to just be popping up over his parent’s crib, Rylee gave her the nastiest once over. Samia’s hair was pulled into a ponytail that draped down her back. Red denim shorts hardly covered anything, while a Gucci racerback tank fit tightly on her chest. It was the perfect attire for the scorching July heat, but inappropriate to be standing in front of her aunt’s door. When Rylee’s eyes landed on the tattoo she had neatly decorated on her thigh, she got pissed off even more.
“I know you don’t have my fucking cousin’s name tattooed on you?” Rylee spat.
Samia looked down as if she didn’t know it was there and gave a nonchalant shrug. “Oh, this? This is old. Am I not welcomed in?”
“No, you’re not. Does Lano know you’re here?” Lina asked, walking around the corner with her eyes trained on Samia.
Once upon a time, she had nothing but love for the young girl. She and Saon stayed at Ms. Deloris’ house. There wasn’t a holiday, birthday, or family function they didn’t celebrate together. Times had changed though. The love Lano had for Samia was damn near nonexistent, and he had only been letting her make it for the sake of Saon. She was doing some shit he knew she only felt was right because of their ties. Forget the fact that he had taken her virginity; that shit was old news, and Lina nor Lano gave a fuck about the past.
“He doesn’t,” Samia cleared her throat. “But, he didn’t make it seem like I wasn’t welcomed today.”
Lina’s brow raised inquiringly. “Today?”
“Yes. I just came from visiting him.”
“Visiting who?” Anika’s voice echoed through the corridor.
