“Because he cares about you,” she said gently, letting the words sink in.

“Can I see him?” I asked, knowing I needed to tell him how fucking sorry I was. But more than that, I realized how much I missed him, even the thought of him had the ache in my chest flaring again. I guess before now, I just hadn’t put the extra thought into why it was there.

“Of course. I’ll check in after visiting hours,” she promised, giving me a genuine smile and walking out. “I’m proud of you, Ezra, you’re stronger than you realize.” She walked out and I ran my hands through my hair, trying to smooth it out some before he came in. I was pacing when I heard the door open again.

Jasper looked just as perfect as always, but the pain in his eyes had me wanting to crumple to the ground. Instead I let my body takeover, running across the room and flinging myself into his arms. He let out a choked noise, scooping a hand under my butt as he picked me up, clutching me close.

“Sweetheart, don't leave me,” he begged, his voice rough and exhausted. The reality of everything I’d done to him made my chest ache more.

“I’m so sorry. I just didn’t realize how hard I was taking the anniversary of Mom’s death and I let myself get overwhelmed. Then seeing Levi, it threw me right into an episode. I promise I don’t have them often and I think that Dr. Cox can really help me. I didn’t mean it, I didn't want to push you away, I just didn't know what to do. I love you, I’d never hurt you on purpose,” I rambled, both of us freezing when I let my feelings slip. I hadn’t meant to say it and hadn’t let myself think about it, but I realized it was true. We hadn’t been dating long, but he understood me better than anyone else, possibly even Leo.

“You do?” The raw hope in his eyes had my heart clenching.

“I do. Can you forgive me? I’m so sorry,” I said again, pleading with him. “I hate that I hurt you.”

“Stop apologizing, there’s nothing to forgive. It led to you getting help you didn’t realize you needed. These last few days have been hell, I was so worried,” he said, burrowing his head into the crook of my neck and breathing deep.

When he pulled away to look at me, butterflies fluttered in my stomach. The intensity of my feelings was overwhelming, but in the best way. I leaned forward and brushed a kiss across his lips, giving him the chance to back away. He didn’t, instead he fused his mouth to mine, deepening the kiss.

“I love you, Ezra,” he whispered against my lips, before capturing them again. My heart warmed as his words seemed to chip away the last of the armor I’d been carrying for so long. Dr. Cox made me realize that it was okay to let him in, let them all in. I didn’t want to live my life isolated anymore, it was no way to live. Though I knew it was going to take time to really believe it.

A soft knock on the door had us both turning. Dr. Cox’s head peered into the room and I caught a grin before she covered it. “Visiting hours are almost over and a certain blond haired man is demanding his turn with you. You up for it?”

“I guess I should share,” Jasper said with a sigh, reluctantly putting me back on the ground. “I’ll be here tomorrow to pick you up and bring you home?”

“That’d be amazing. Thank you for being you,” I said, leaning up to kiss him again, pouring all of my love and emotion into it.

“I love you,” he said again, grinning happily at the words before kissing me lightly on the forehead, turning and walking out.

  Jasper

It had been a fucking emotional rollercoaster the past week, from our date ending in Ezra dumping me, to him being in the hospital, and now he was back home. Back home for almost a week and I hadn’t seen him since I brought him home from the hospital. I had walked him up to his apartment and he said he was tired. I had understood, but that wasn’t the welcome home I had originally planned for him.

It had been a week and besides some text messages and a few phone calls, I hadn’t been able to really talk with Ezra, much less see him. He was doing his therapy appointments with Dr. Cox and catching up with things at the bakery, which was great. But I wanted to be selfish and spend time with him, just the two of us.

“Earth to Jasper.” A hand waved in front of my face making me jolt from my thoughts and I turned to focus on Jax.

“Jasper if you want to see him just go over there.” Jax rolled his eyes at me drawing a laugh from Dad, who I just realized was sitting at the bar.

“He’s right you know. Just go over there, you did make up already.” Dad took a swig of his beer while watching me.

“Yeah, but I haven’t seen him since I dropped him off from the hospital.” I fidgeted with the glass in my hand. “Maybe he doesn’t want to see me.”

“You’re an idiot.” I looked up to see Levi and Talon settling into the stools by my dad. “Of course he wants to see you, he’s just busy getting himself straight.”

“Levi is right you know,” Leo followed up as he popped out of nowhere beside Talon. “Ezra has been talking about you a lot.” Suddenly an impish grin filled his face. “I have the perfect idea.”

My dad arched an eyebrow. “Is it something I’m going to get called about?”

Leo started to think that over and my dad tipped back his drink, chugged it, then stood up. “On that note, I’m going to head home so I’m not party to whatever this is and when I get called I won’t know anything. Night boys!”

My dad waved his hand at everyone as he walked out but before he could reach the door Leo just had to add something. “Night, Daddy King!”

Stopping with his hand on the door he turned back to look at Leo who just sent him a wicked grin and a wink. Dad just shook his head before heading out the door.

“I can’t believe you just said that.” Talon and Levi let out booming laughs, while I just shook my head.

“I’m going to have nightmares now, thank you.”

Leo just laughed at my comment and leaned toward me with eyes twinkling with mischief.

“Do you want to know my plan or not, King?”

I let out a groan. “I’m going to regret this, but what is your idea?”

“Well this all started from a prank war… how about one last prank?”

The others laughed but I stared at Leo in surprise before I smiled slyly. “Leo, that’s the best idea I’ve heard in awhile. And I already have what I need, I just need you to get me into the bakery.”

“A prank war?” Levi asked curiously. Out of the corner of my eye I saw Jax nodding in answer, “Yep, Ezra played a prank on Jasper for annoying him and it escalated from there.”

“So what’s your idea, Jasper?” Leo pulled my attention back to him.

“Oh, how about I let that be a surprise.”

Leo fake pouted at me but reached into his pocket and handed me a set of silver keys. “You go now and set up in the bakery so I can get the keys back tonight before I head home.”

I nodded at him and turned to check in with Jax who shooed me out from behind the bar. I ran upstairs to get the things I had bought a while ago at the toy store grinning in anticipation at Ezra’s reaction tomorrow when he went downstairs to bake. It would even be worth being woken up for tomorrow when he stormed over here. Thankfully, I’d be alone this time. No risk of Levi being a cockblock if he’s staying with Talon for the night.

  Bang!

  Bang!

  Bang!

I woke up from a light sleep with a grin on my face at the angry knocking on the door. I rolled out of bed while rubbing at my face trying to tone the smile down for when I opened the door. I sauntered through my apartment and opened the door to find a delectable, angry Ezra standing at my doorstep with a whisk in one hand and a spatula in another, but both were miniature toy size for a kid’s play kitchen.

I schooled my features as I took in his flushed face. “Is there something that you wanted Ezra?”

“You-you did this! Where are my baking utensils, Jasper? I need to get ready for work.”

  I feigned innocence. “I don’t know what you’re talkin
g about. I was asleep until you started banging on my door a few minutes ago.”

He opened his mouth like he was going to say more, when he choked slightly as if just realizing I was at my door talking to him, completely naked. When he licked his lips I sent him a cocky grin. “See something you like?”

Ezra jerked his gaze up to me, but before he could say anything, I reached out and pulled him into my apartment, quickly slamming the door shut as I claimed his mouth in a slow kiss. The toy utensils fell to the floor as he wrapped his arms around me, which made me chuckle into his mouth.

He pulled back slightly, breaking the kiss. “I have to get ready for work.”

I pulled him back in for a soft kiss. “Leo is taking care of everything for this morning so you don’t have to worry about anything.”

Ezra frowned slightly. “Leo was in on this?”

I smirked at him as I pulled him backward with me to my bedroom. “Are you complaining?”

Ezra looked up at me with a shy grin. “No, I was thinking about what he got you to agree to for him to be in on it.”

I chuckled softly. “Sweetheart, it was his idea for one last, war-winning prank.”

Before he could protest I spun us around and pushed him back onto my bed, quickly pulling our clothes off. I stood there for a moment taking him in before I covered his body with my own. I claimed his mouth in a searing kiss while I laced my fingers with his, holding him down slightly on the bed. He rocked his hips in a silent plea for more, the feel of his rock hard length pressed against mine had me near crazy with need. Thinking I was going to lose him, to getting him back and not seeing him, had me feeling like I needed him more than air.

Releasing his hands, I started nipping kisses down his jaw. Goosebumps erupted on his skin as my teeth grazed across the shell of his ear, teasing the sensitive spot behind it and moving down his neck. He arched into me the best he could, making the sexiest moans as I tortured him slowly. My cock was throbbing, already ready to blow on him, mark him, but I refused to take him fast. I squeezed at the base of my cock, hoping it would help reel me in as I made my way down his body.

“Please,” he begged as my teeth found his collarbone, licking my way over it and down to his nipples. They were already hard for me and that had me groaning in appreciation. I teased and sucked them until he was thrashing under me, begging incoherently as his cock leaked, the tip angry and throbbing.

“Patience, Sweetheart,” I rasped, my fingertips leading the path even lower, teasing the slight muscles on his stomach and down to his cock. I ignored it at first, nipping the sensitive skin on top of his thighs. I grinned as he tried to push me off of him, to tip the balance in his favor, the fire in his eyes making me ache even harder for him. Finally taking pity on him I flicked my tongue over his tip, the salty precum making me moan around him, nearly choking as he thrust into my mouth, hitting the back of my throat in one motion. I recovered quickly, bobbing my head over him until he pulled me off, practically ripping my hair out in the process.

“On your back, now,” he demanded, his eyes dark as he moved off of his back and pushed me to take his place. I complied, grinning up at this new side to Ezra. I loved it just as much as his sweet side. Reaching over to the nightstand where I had a condom and lube ready, he grabbed the lube and poured it over his hands, preparing himself for me. I nearly came just from watching him slowly move his fingers in and out of his perfect hole.

“Fuck, you’re so sexy,” I groaned, my hand wrapping itself around my cock before I even realized, slowly pumping as I watched him. He caught me, slapping my hand away and giving me a stern look.

“That’s mine,” he growled, pulling his hands free and wiping his fingers off on the shirt he threw to the side of the bed. “Condom?”

“I’m clean, I got tested when we got serious,” I admitted, as I grabbed the condom off the bedside table playing with the foil wrapper. I just hadn’t found the right time to bring it up. The idea of fucking him without the latex barrier was what dreams were made of.

“I got tested at the hospital and she called today. I’m clean as well. Can we skip it?” He pleaded more than asked, and I was more than happy to oblige tossing the condom onto the floor. I went to grab the lube to lube up my cock but Ezra knocked my hand aside again giving me another sexy stern look. I smirked at him as I leaned back leaving myself in his capable hands. Pouring the lube on his hands I watched as he slowly and thoroughly covered my aching cock. When he slowly started to cup my balls and tease the skin underneath, my breathing escaped in a hiss.

“Fucking ride me, Ezra, and stop teasing,” I bit out, forcing myself to stay still while he straddled me with a hot smirk and slowly guided my cock into him. He felt like heaven, the tight heat enveloping me as he slowly sank down, only stopping when I was completely filling him.

“God, you feel amazing,” he groaned, leaning down and kissing me roughly while his body adjusted. The moment he relaxed, he finally began to move, rocking his hips over me before beginning to ride me at a punishing pace; my hips thrust up to meet each movement. The musky smell of sex and the sound of our bodies slapping together filled the room. This was the best sex of my life and I couldn’t get enough of Ezra. He looked beautiful silhouetted in the soft light of the room, his hair tousled and his expression full of bliss. The fact that I could make him let go of his stress, even for right now, was heady.

“Jasper, touch me,” he whined, but instead I took control of our pace and shifted slowly until I was able to hit his prostate, his keening cries telling me all I needed to know. I thrust up, hitting it each time until he practically screamed, shooting hot cum over my chest, the last bit of it hitting my lower lip. I darted out my tongue, making eye contact with him as I did. He groaned and started to collapse, so I pulled out of him and torqued our position, throwing his legs over my shoulders before I thrust into him again. I took him hard and fast, his hands moving up to brace himself against the headboard while I lost myself in the feel of his body. My eyes found his again, the blissed out smile he gave me snapping the final bit of my control. I came hard, filling him with pulse after pulse of cum, my vision blurring in the most intense orgasm of my life.

“I love you,” I whispered, pulling out and grabbing my shirt to clean up Jasper then my chest before settling next to him. He snuggled into my chest, letting out a contented sigh that had my heart warming.

“I love you too, Jasper King.”

  Four Months Later

The construction crew was already fully underway and it wasn’t even eight in the morning. It was a good thing that Jasper was staying with me right now or he’d be dead on his feet for work tonight. The kitchen they were adding onto his bar was a full service kitchen, meaning he would be rebranding the bar into a pub, newly renamed King Me. Thanks to the themed nights, he had more than enough income to cover the extra staff and the renovations. I didn’t think I’d ever seen him so ecstatic.

His pub wasn’t the only one undergoing changes, either. Leo and Jasper convinced me to hire staff and a delivery boy, making my life way easier. Not to mention I didn't have to open every morning, which meant I got to wake up in Jasper’s arms more than one day a week.

“Morning, Sweetheart,” Jasper called over to me, stumbling down with bleary eyes and two mugs of coffee in his hand. He slid mine over and plopped down on the nearby stool, watching me work while he nursed his coffee.

“You’re up early,” I teased, glancing at the clock pointedly.

“Yeah, my phone woke me,” he hedged, clearly trying to get me to ask about it. I grinned, his playful side always making me smile. Our pranks had continued, though they’d mellowed out to small ones that caught us off guard. Like Jasper thinking it was cute to put salt in the sugar container so I kept salting my damn coffee or the fake cracked screensaver on my phone.

“And who was it?” I asked. I always gave in and Jasper knew it by now. He loved to torture me.

  “The real estate ag
ent, she found a killer deal on a two story on the beach. Apparently the owner got a business offer and wants it gone fast. It’s way under its value and the pictures she sent were stunning,” he explained, his voice full of excitement. He set his mug down and walked over to stand behind me. I snuggled back into him as he wrapped one arm around me, the other holding his phone. I scrolled through the pictures. He hadn’t been kidding, the house was beyond perfect. I could already see beach side barbecues with the family, the girls coming over for a beach day, lazy summer days full of drinks and sunshine.

“It’s perfect, right?” he asked, when I was quiet for too long.

“It really is,” I admitted, turning and wrapping my arms around him, despite the flour covering me. I kissed him slowly, letting him know how happy he made me with my lips alone.

“Why the hesitation, then?” he asked, his eyebrows pulling down in confusion and worry. “Don’t hold back with me.”

“I’m not. I was just thinking about how perfect it would be for family gatherings and friends. I can picture it as a home, a real home,” I admitted, my voice choking at the intensity of my words. I’d never had a place I truly called home. Sure my apartment was mine, but it held a lot of lonely memories. This home could be full of friends and family, laughter, date nights, and more love than I could ever comprehend.

“Good, I already told her to put our offer in,” he said with a grin, “I figured we could pull it if you hated it.”

“Perfect, I can’t wait to go on the tour. Now shoo, I have work to do,” I teased, flicking a bit of flour at him as I started to finish kneading the bread. He chuckled and walked away, the warmth in my chest staying for long after he was gone.

  Jasper

Ezra’s hand was glued to mine as we wandered from room to room. The house was open and airy, the whites and blues decorating the interior were calming and perfect. A few windows were open, letting the ocean breeze blow through the house.
