Nothing Else Matters (Demons Disciples MC Book 2) Page 31

by Allana Walker

Father John addresses the whole congregation, but I’m not listening to him. All I can focus on is Daria, and gazing into her beautiful glittering hazel eyes.

“Striker, would you place this ring on your bride's finger and say your vows.” Father John smiles at us. I take her hand and place my mom’s wedding ring on her finger.

“I don't know how to follow that, but…” I blow out a puff of air. “I will spend each and every day working to become the truest version of myself, for you, for us, and for our family. I will chase away the tears that fill your eyes and make it my mission to make you laugh at least once a day, and tell everyone just how much I'm in love with you. I am yours, I always have been. You have my heart and my soul. They’re yours forever. You are my light, my love, my phoenix, and I can’t believe you’re finally my wife.”

She looks up at me shyly through her lashes. “Now, by the power vested in me and by the state of Arizona. I pronounce you husband and wife,” Father John announces. “You may kiss your bride.”

I take Daria in my arms, dipping her back, and plant my lips on hers. Our first kiss as husband and wife. Her leg hooks around my hip and the kiss becomes deeper.

“Ugh, guys. You’re in a church,” Nico mutters. We straighten, Daria’s cheeks red with embarrassment.

  “You look beautiful, Mrs. Xanders.”

She squeals with a huge grin.

She’s finally my wife, and I get to see that smile for the rest of my life.

“Please welcome to the dance floor, the new Mr. and Mrs. Striker Xanders,” the DJ shouts over the mic. The whole room claps and cheers.

“Come on, wife. Time to show everyone that you're mine.” I turn to Daria and wink at her.

“Yours?” She raises an eyebrow at me. “I belong to no-one.”

“I think the ring on your finger and those two beautiful kids over there tell everyone differently.” I pull her to me.

“Whatever.” She giggles and rolls her eyes. “Tell me, Mr. Xanders, would your property be walking around without underwear on?” She walks to the middle of the dance floor, leaving me speechless. She winks at me, bites her lip, and crooks her finger, signaling for me to join her.

“Damn woman will be the death of me,” I whisper to myself as I join her. “I swear when I get you to our hotel room, I'll show you how dangerous it is to tease me.” She shivers under my hands as the music starts. Love Exists by Amy Lee.

  “I can't wait, Mr. Xanders.”

  “I love you, Mrs. Xanders.”

  “I love you too.”

I dance in the middle of the dance floor with Daria, my wife. I can't wipe the massive smile off my face.

“People will think you're crazy, smiling like that.”

“Baby, if you don't know by now, I am crazy.” I chuckle.

“Very true.” She giggles, looking up at me.

“I'm even crazier in love with you.” Turning serious, I look down into those hazel eyes I love so much. “I honestly never thought I would get to this point in my life. Have a woman who loves me no matter what, that always has my back, and two kids that I love unconditionally.” I swallow back the lump in my throat. “You're like a beautiful phoenix. When life deals you the worst hand possible, and you crumble, it doesn't take you long to rise from the ashes better and stronger than ever before.” Reaching up, I wipe a tear away. “You showed me how to love again and how love can conquer everything life throws at you. Because if you have faith, love, and hope, you have life.”

  “Striker ...”

“Let me finish.” I smirk when she huffs. “Emily and Evan are my life. You're my life. I will love you until I have no life left in me. Even after that, I will love you and only you.”

Daria showed me what true love is. She's given me two beautiful children, and a family I can call my own.

But most of all, she has shown me that a deep, unconditional love really does exist, and she's my love.

  My phoenix.
