“Like hell I’m not,” she says crossing her arms over her chest and glaring at me. I’ve been making moves of my own with the guys. We’ve been researching and seeking out answers, though they aren’t easy to come by I’m still confused. Which is why I’m going to the last place I really wanted to go. To see my dad.
“I’m not taking you,” I tell her shoving her back a step. Her eyes sparkle with a challenge.
“Don’t take me then. I will find my own way there.” I chuckle.
“Oh yeah? I say the words and no one around here will drive you anywhere,” I remind her of my position. Layla smirks, undoing the top buttons on her shirt slowly. I watch her wondering what her play is here. Surely she doesn’t think flashing me her chest will make me reconsider and take her.
“Won’t work,” I tell her with a smirk. She raises her eyebrow just as her bra comes into view.
“One thing I know about myself is my body, Ace. It has gotten people what they wanted for a long time now. I think I should start using it for what I want.” She is dead serious as she glares at me. The girl is messed up in the head if she thinks I’m going to let that happen. I step toward her, reaching out and grabbing her tits in my hands. Squeezing them roughly in my palms, she moans.
“Who do you belong to?” I ask her keeping our gazes locked tightly.
“You don’t want to take me, I need answers, Acen. It’s pretty simple really.” Look at her testing my patience today. I should bend her over and spank her.
“This body belongs to me. If any other man touches it, I will kill him,” I growl low in my throat.
“Do you think I care what happens to the asshole after I get what I want?” She challenges me. She slaps my hands off her chest as I growl loudly. She walks around me and out the front door knowing that I won’t let anyone else touch her.
“She has your nuts in the palm of her hand, man,” Fox laughs.
“Fuck off.”
“He’s right. That girl has you whipped.” That comes from Cato. I flip them all off and walk outside to find Layla in the front seat of my car. She doesn’t even look my way, just sits with her head held high looking straight ahead. I walk around the car and climb in.
“I win,” she whispers.
“You think so? We’ll see who the winner is when you’re on your knees sucking me off later,” I tell her in response.
“Look forward to it.”
“Jesus,” Brody hisses. I shove the key in the ignition and start the car before pulling out.
“You think he’s going to say anything?” Fox asks as we drive. Layla scoots closer, resting her head on my shoulder.
“Hopefully. He did give us a heads up on Shadow.”
“He didn’t give us much to go on though,” Cato adds.
“No, he didn’t.” I’m tense and I hate it. The fact that he knows more than what he was saying makes me mad. He’s supposed to me my dad. He’s supposed to protect me from things like that.
The tension in the car is thick. We all know things could go either way with this meeting. Layla shifts, moving to unzip my jeans.
“What are you doing?” I ask her but keep my eyes on the road. She grins up at me but doesn’t say anything else before pulling my cock free. That fucker hardens under her palm. Each stroke of her soft fingers along my length causes me to hiss but when she leans down and sucks me into her mouth, I groan.
“She has no shame,” Cato laughs. Layla moves one of her hands to flip him off over the seat but keeps sucking me deeper. Her head moves, taking me like I’ve never been taken before. I’ve had girls suck me off but not one felt this good.
“Damn, Lala,” I groan when I feel her teeth scrape along the underside of my cock. My foot presses on the gas pedal as she raises her head before going down once more. The speed mixed with her tongue drags me into a euphoric bliss. Tingles race down my spine, my balls pulling up tightly. One last flick of her tongue and I explode down the back of her throat. The greedy little girl sucks until there is nothing left in me. When she sits up and wipes her mouth, I nearly come once more. Her lips are swollen as she slides her hand in the front of her jeans.
“Jesus,” I grumble as she toys with herself. She can’t get herself there. I can see the look in her eyes. She’s frustrated and there is far too much running wild in her mind right now for her to let go on her own, so I make a decision.
“Cato,” I call his name. He leans forward, looking between us. “Help our girl out.” I nod at her. Her eyes shoot to mine so unsure. I nod my head once and she pulls her hand free grabbing his instead. Shoving his hand roughly into her jeans, he hisses this time.
“So fucking wet, Lala.” She nods her head biting her lip as he works her over. Layla begins rocking against his hand, trying to get where she wants to be.
“You want to come, Lala?” I ask her huskily. She sits up, pressing her pussy against Cato’s hand, riding his fingers. “Answer me.”
“Yes! Fuck I need to come, Acen!” She rocks harder, his muscles flexing as he keeps his fingers inside of her until she finally loses control. She screams her orgasm as I shift in my seat. Shit, this girl is going to kill me one day. Cato pulls his hand out of her jeans and leans against the seat.
“Think I can get a little suck off too, Lala?” I raise my hand, slapping him in the face as he laughs. Layla scoots over and sits next to me once more, resting her head on my shoulder. Turning my head I press a kiss to the top of her head.
Chapter 26
Layla
His stare makes me nervous. I hate it. It’s unnerving and it reminds me of every other asshole I’ve met in my life.
“You have no idea who you really are do you?” His dad finally asks me. I’ve listened to them talk. Listened to the bullshit of their lives but I want to know more. Guess this is my chance.
“I know I’m nothing. I’m a body that can be used for whatever those assholes deem necessary.” He doesn’t like my answer. His brows furrow as he looks me over.
“Stop looking at her like that,” Ace says gritting his teeth. His dad’s attention moves to his now, his head cocking to the side.
“You getting some of that too, son?” I can feel the tension in Ace and he isn’t even touching me.
“She’s mine.” His dad chuckles running his hand through his hair.
“You have no idea just how stupid that move was!” his dad roars. The guards look our way but none of them make a move to come toward us.
“Why? What was so stupid about it?” Ace asks leaning forward.
“Do you really not know your last name?” He turns his attention back to me now.
“Woodruff.”
“No. You aren’t a Woodruff, Layla. You’re a Consuelo.” My heart drops in my chest. I stiffen in my chair as I shake my head.
“No. I’m not.”
“Yes, you are. I know your dad, Layla. I know that he’s using you to get my boy out of the way. Do you think that I’d really let that happen? I will take you out before you ever have the chance to touch them!” He roars, standing from his seat. In seconds, he has me by the hair, ripping me out of my chair and hurling me against the concrete wall. I hit hard, thudding to the floor when he kicks me in the ribs. Reality slowly seeps in. They run this area. The guards won’t help me and when Acen moves, I’m shocked. He slams his fist into his dad’s face, shoving him back a step.
“Don’t you touch her! I will have you taken out in a heartbeat!” His dad comes after him now. I take my chance and shove up the wall on unsteady legs. My head pounds from where I hit it and my legs wobble. Using the wall as my anchor I move away from the table.
“She is against us and all that we’ve built, Acen!”
“No, she isn’t! She never has been!”
“You are too blinded by her pussy to see what’s in front of you? She will rip this crew apart, Acen!”
“She has done nothing but make us stronger. You don’t know anything,” Ace hisses back at him. Pointing at his dad, he continues.
You try one thing to hurt her, I will make sure you die in the most painful way.” Ace spins and grabs my hand dragging me along with him. When we get outside, he roars so loudly the guards all turn to look at him. They must know him because no one bats an eye. Fox jogs toward us and looks between the two of us as I sway on my feet.
“What the hell?”
“Get her in the car,” Ace says in a low tone.
“What’s going on?” Fox asks once more.
“Put her in the car!” I jolt this time, letting Fox grab my arm and lead me to the car. I climb in the back this time, needing my own space from Ace. The guys all climb out, leaving me alone. Just what I deserve. I’ve done nothing but tear them apart. Maybe his dad is right. I’m the enemy.
Pulling my feet up into the seat, I pull my knees to my chest as I watch the guys out the window. Ace is pacing, his hands flying through the air, his mouth moving quickly. That’s when all heads snap in my direction. Yeah, take it in guys. I’m the enemy, the bad guy. I’m the one that’s slowly ripping them apart. I should climb out and tell them all to fuck off but I don’t look forward to the walk home. Instead, I zone out into my own head. Consuelo. I don’t want to be a Consuelo. How is that even possible? But they all knew. Shadow knew who I was, who my dad was and he’s one of their best friends. I won’t let him hurt them.
I shake my head. Listen to me! What the hell can I do to help them? Why should I? Everything I’ve loved and cared about is gone because I couldn’t bring myself to turn on them. I can feel the tears as they leak down my cheeks. It’s not until I hear him sigh do I realize they are all back in the car.
“Come here,” Cato says holding his arms out to me. I shake my head when he raises an eyebrow. In seconds, I leap across the seat and into his arms sobbing my heart out. The car starts and we pull out as Cato keeps me locked in place on his lap. I don’t know how long we drive but the moon is slowly rising in the sky. The car comes to a stop and when I look up I nearly laugh.
“The Dairy Spot?” I ask looking up at Cato.
“What’s the best way to end a shit day?” He shrugs climbing out and setting me on my feet.
“I was going to say by blowing something up,” I add when Brody walks over wiping my cheeks. Fox moves in next, pulling me into his side but Ace stays distant. I let them lead me inside and order before dropping into a booth.
“You know we don’t care what he said, Lala,” Fox states.
“You should.”
“Why? You aren’t him. You aren’t out to get us,” Brody snaps. How does he know that? He couldn’t know that.
“My life has been one thing after another. I’ve been used, I’ve been mistreated. I’ve done things I’m not proud of but the thought of being his daughter? I don’t want that, Brody! I don’t want that name!” I growl. The guys all watch me, Cato walking over with a tray of Sundae’s. He sets them on the table in front of us but Acen just stares at me with a dark look in his eyes. I don’t even know if he realizes he’s staring.
“You aren’t. You’re a Woodruff.” When Fox reminds me of that fact, I cringe.
“I don’t want to be that either. I want out. I don’t want any of this,” I say sadly as I lower my head. “I’m going to finish what I started and then I’m getting the hell out of here.”
“And go where?” Cato asks pulling my attention to his.
“Anywhere.”
“What did you want when you were younger, Lala?” Fox asks, nudging me with his elbow. Sorrow rushes my heart.
“I never really wanted anything until I had Laney. Then I just wanted whatever was best for her. A dad that would love her, take care of her. A house with a yard so she could play.” Tears slide down my cheeks as my heart slowly breaks. Acen moves, pulling something from his pocket and sliding it across the table. When I see it’s the picture of Laney, I lose it.
“You had this the whole time?” I gasp.
“You were clutching it when you drowned yourself.”
Chapter 27
Acen
I don’t know what part of me hurts the most. My hands from punching the brick wall or my goddamn heart. I couldn’t look at her after what my dad said. I saw the resemblance in her eyes. I couldn’t believe it and yet, I refuse to let her go.
“You going to do this all day?” I glare at Fox, he just chuckles and grabs another beer.
“He’s right. This isn’t helping anything.”
“I didn’t ask any of you,” I roar slamming my fist into the wall once more. Blood trickles down my knuckles and I welcome the burn.
“Acen?” I hear Clarissa calling my name. Just as I turn she comes running toward me. I don’t even have to ask what the problem is, it’s bad. I can see the look on her face.
“What happened?”
“Well, it hasn’t really happened yet.” Tilting my head, I stare at her, waiting for her to respond. She rolls her eyes and huffs out a breath debating telling me or not.
“Spit it out!”
“Asshole. She’s walking down the alley with…well things she made in her mom’s garage.” Shit! Just what I don’t need right now. Me and the guys share a glance before we take off running. I’m around the house and down the alley when I see her. My heart beats rapidly in my chest when I come to stand next to her.
“Molotov’s. Smart move.” She slowly drags her gaze to mine and stares at me.
“I’m tired, Acen. I’m tired of being lied to. I’m tired of being used and thrown away. I’m…”
“I know, Lala. I know you are.”
“Then let me handle things the way I need to,” she nearly begs me. I turn my head and look up at the house before looking back at her. I know he’s in there, it’s Wednesday. That’s his day of sleep and recouping. Pulling my hoodie up over my head, I reach for Layla and do the same with hers. Her long dark hair hangs out of the sides, her eyes sullen. Taking one of the bottles from her hand, I pull the lighter from my pocket and pass it to her. Layla watches me, unsure of my motives here.
“Why are you letting me do this? He’s your friend,” she says softly while I nod my head. I lean into her space, close enough I could taste her lips if I wanted to.
“Maybe you mean more to me than he does. He didn’t just lie to you, Lala.” She nods her head slowly as if she understands, she doesn’t. “Do it.” She pulls her gaze to mine, her eyes narrowing. The lighter flickers as I step back. I watch her light the rag before taking a deep breath. Her chest heaves when she raises her arm and throws. The bottle shatters, fire erupts. She grabs the other from my hand and does it again. Flames absorb the house as we stand there watching. What’s strange is when I hear someone screaming inside. I can hear Shadow but he isn’t coming out. Turning my head, I look down at Layla and the smirk on her face.
“You didn’t think I was that stupid did you?”
“What do you mean?”
“I made sure he couldn’t get out first.” She crosses her arms over her chest until the screams die and the house blazes. I can hear the sirens coming but we don’t move. We stand here watching the house burn.
“Damn, Lala. Didn’t know you had it in you!” Fox chimes in laughing.
“Don’t underestimate me,” she says turning on her heel and walking back toward the house. We all follow her but to be honest, I don’t know what to say to her. I’m conflicted and I’m not used to that feeling. She’s come into my world and tossed it upside down in the matter of months, challenging everything I believe in and that’s wearing on me. When we get back to the house, she strolls in like she owns the place. The guys and I share a glance but they just laugh. I follow her in when she grabs her backpack and stuffs her clothes in it.
“What are you doing?” I ask leaning against the doorframe watching her with amusement. If she thinks she’s leaving, she’s crazy.
“I don’t want to do this anymore.”
“Do what?” I muse.
“This! I’m done! I want my revenge Ace and that’s it. I don’t need to be here an
ymore.” I laugh because I think she truly believes the bullshit coming out of her mouth right now. She ignores my episode and tries to walk out the door, my hands coming to rest on her hips, preventing her from leaving, as her angry eyes burn into mine.
“You think you can walk away from this crew just like that?”
“I’m not a part of this Crew, Ace.”
“You don’t think so?” I raise an amused eyebrow.
“I’m not fighting you on this,” she tells me.
“That would be the first thing you don’t fight me on.” A slight smile tugs at the corner of her lips.
“Let me go,” she pleads.
“I can’t do that,” I say leaning down and pressing my lips to hers. I let my lips linger there, slipping my tongue into her mouth. She doesn’t stop me, I keep going. Each stroke of our tongues together hardens my cock. Her hands come to my chest, clenching my shirt there. When I pull back I look into her eyes.
“If you leave you’ll miss the fun,” I tell her.
“What fun?” I see the glint in her eye. I have her interested now.
“Ben.” She pulls back and stares at me.
“What about him?”
“We’re going to kill him.”
Chapter 28
Layla
I think I was the first one in the car. The guys laughed at how quickly my mood changed. It isn’t that I like to kill people, only those that deserve it. I don’t see the problem in that case. The ride was silent and I’m a little pissed when we get to his house. The nice shit he has makes me gag. I flick the tie backs on the fancy ass curtain making Brody chuckle.
“Don’t like nice things?” He asks wrapping his arm around my shoulders.
“Never had them. I don’t understand why people need all this crap to be happy.”
“Sweet sentiment.” I flip Fox off and watch Cato instead. He and Ace have a noose that I tied wrapped around Ben’s neck as he stands on his toes on a kitchen chair. Thank God for his exposed beam ceilings.
“You will regret this, Layla. I could have given you everything!” His words mean nothing to me. He couldn’t have given me anything more than the heartache I’ve already had.
