Redemption (Shattered Souls MC Book 2) Page 12

by Heather Dahlgren

When he’d come home from getting a shipment it was people everywhere, buying it from him. When he’d come back from laying low, someone died. Putting all the pieces together, it is finally making sense. This isn’t the first time he’s done it. I just wasn’t paying close enough attention to notice. Now that I have, I need to figure out where the hell he goes.

It can’t be New York, there’s no way he’d stay that far away. It has to be somewhere local or at least close enough to be able to rush in if he has to. I’ve thought of all the places I’ve been with him. Nothing sticks out as a place that he could be comfortable, relaxed, and still in charge. I’m just about to bang my head on the table, when I remember a locked box, he gave me years ago.

“Holy shit,” I whisper, and jump up. I run to Ivy’s room and throw the door open. “Get dressed, hurry.” I grab my phone, keys, and purse, rushing to the front door. Finn is sitting in the living room, paying no attention to me. Not willing to start a fight with Zane, I stand in front of Finn. “Let’s go. We are going to my house.”

He jumps up, shaking his head. “No fucking way. Zane didn’t say anything about going there,” he crosses his large arms, staring at me with a serious expression.

I roll my eyes and pick up my phone. I call Z and wait for him to answer. It only rings twice before I hear his deep, sexy voice.

  “Hey babe,” he answers.

“Listen. I need to go to my house to get something. It’s really important,” I look at Finn, knowing I can’t say what it is in front of him.

“Harper, it can wait until I can go with you,” he replies.

I clear my throat and turn my back to Finn. “No, it can’t. Remember what we were talking about this morning. I think I figured it out. I need to get to my house, Z.”

“Fuck,” he breathes into the phone. “Finn drives your car and goes in first. No fucking around, Harper, get what you need and get out.”

I smile, looking at Finn. “You got it, baby. I’ll text you when we get back.”

“Harper, please don’t do anything stupid. Get what you need and get home,” he whispers.

He doesn’t believe I’m just getting what I need, and I can’t say I blame him. I haven’t exactly given him too many reasons to trust me. I’ve run off a few times, making shit worse. “I promise. Love you,” I say.

  “Love you, too.”

I toss my keys at Finn. “Zane said you’re driving and you’re going in the house first.”

On the way to the house, Ivy keeps questioning me, but I can’t tell her anything. I can’t tell either of them. I just need to get the lock box and get out. I’m sure my father has my house being watched. I don’t want to be there any longer than I need to.

When Finn pulls into the driveway, it feels like a lifetime ago since I’ve been here. I used to love getting home at night. It was the only place I felt comfortable and safe. Now, the only thing I think of is seeing my house destroyed and my mom’s pictures ripped up. As with everything connected to my father, nothing but misery comes out of it.

“Let’s fucking do this and get out of here,” Finn says, opening the car door.

Ivy grabs my hand, looking at the dark house. “What the fuck are you doing?”

“I just need to grab a lock box. It has important paperwork I need in there. Come on, it’s right in my bedroom,” I say, pulling her hand to have her follow me out.

Finn has the door open and turns the lights on, so we just walk in. I rush back to my bedroom and flip the light on. I move my nightstand and open the vent that is behind it. I reach inside, feeling for the box. My eyebrows dip as I feel nothing. I lay on my stomach and look inside.

“Oh.Fuck.Me.” I jump up and rush out to the living room. “Let’s go, now!”

I grab Ivy’s arm and yank her toward the door. “What the fuck, Harper?”

“Finn, hurry the fuck up!” I yell.

He slams the door behind us, and we run to the car. Once inside, he peels out of there and I sag against the seat.

“What the fuck?” Finn yells, looking at me through the rearview.

“My box is missing,” I whisper.

“Fucking talk, Harper,” he growls. He’s never gotten angry before; this is a side I’m not used to. I’ve really made a lot of people's lives shit because of things I’ve done or because of who I’m related to.

  “My father was there.”

“Mother fucker,” Finn yells, smacking the steering wheel.

I rush in the front door, my heart slamming against my chest. When Finn called and told me how Harper freaked out and said her father was there, I couldn’t get home fast enough. Kace and Riley are following, but I beat them by a long shot.

  “Babe,” I yell.

“I’m alright,” she says, standing from the couch.

I rush to her and wrap my arms around her. My hands sink into her hair, as I bury my face into her shoulder. “I never should’ve let you go,” I whisper.

“I don’t know if he was still there, but he definitely was,” she whispers.

I lift my head and look at Finn and Ivy. Finn knows to leave, but Ivy crosses her arms. “Ivy,” I warn.

“I’m not leaving. It’s bad enough I’m a hostage, I’m not being locked in a room like one,” she protests.

I grab Harper’s hand and lead her to the bedroom. She sits down on the bed as I close the door. “What the fuck happened?”

“I worked out a lot of shit today, Z. The answer I needed was in that lock box. I went into my room, in the vent where I had it hidden, but it was replaced with a note,” she says, wrapping her arms around herself.

My eyes close as I try to control the fire building inside me. “What did it say?”

  “Getting warmer.”

I snap my eyes open and turn around punching the door. “Fuck!”

She comes up behind me and wraps her arms around my waist. “Relax. We just need to figure it out without the box,” she whispers, kissing my back.

I turn around, wrapping my arms around her. “Tell me everything.”

Before she can even start, Kace is banging on the door. “Z?”

I open it and he rushes in. “We’re fine,” Harper tells him.

“Let’s go talk. Harper has some stuff to tell us,” I say, grabbing her hand.

We sit down at the table and I glance over at Ivy. She’s sitting on the couch, watching what’s going on, but not moving. She’s determined not to leave, so I concede. I hit Kace with my elbow, motioning with my eyes.

  “What?” he whispers.

I shake my head. He’s such a fucking idiot sometimes. “She’s already involved, don’t make her sit there alone. Tell her to come over,” I quietly say.

He looks around to make sure it’s alright with Riley and Harper. They nod, so he clears his throat. “Hey, Ivy, get over here.”

Harper looks at me with wide eyes and I laugh. It’s like he forgets how to be a normal human around her.

  “What?” she snaps back.

He sighs and grabs his neck. “Come join us, please.”

This time she gets up and pulls out the chair next to Harper. “Thanks,” she whispers.

“Okay, Harper, tell us,” I say.

She talks about everything she did today. All the memories that she blocked out, things she pieced together, and showed us everything she wrote down. It’s incredible that after all this time the way the pieces all fit together. She truly is our only possibility of winning the war.

“In that lock box was a deed to some property. I don’t know exactly where, but I do know it was on a lake. That must be where he is because he took the box and left that note. He knew I’d figure it out eventually, I guess,” she explains.

“Fuck,” I say, slamming my fist on the table.

“We need to figure out where that property is,” Kace says.

“We need to get Dom,” Riley adds.

Harper glances at me and I lightly shake my h
ead. I don’t want her mentioning anything about Dom. I brought it up to the club today and we are going tomorrow. That asshole is going to start spilling secrets one way or another.

“Now what?” Ivy asks. We all look at her and she lights a cigarette. “Oh, I’m sorry, I’m only allowed to speak when spoken to now?”

“Fucking hell, Ivy. What is your problem today? You’re back to being the crazy chick I had to drag out the door,” Kace hisses.

“There’s a huge difference now,” she says, leaning over the table. “I’m not scared of you anymore.”

Kace stands up so fast, the chair smacks to the ground.

“Enough!” I yell. Everyone looks at me and I stand up, resting my hands on the table, leaning on them. “We’re getting off track. Whatever the fuck is going on with you two, settle that shit another time. Right now, we need to focus on what the hell we are going to do.”

  “Sorry,” Ivy whispers.

“We need to talk to the club. See what they want to do,” Riley says.

I scrub my face and stand straight. “Yeah we do. I think we should all stay at the club for now. It’s safer if we’re all in one place.”

“Ivy and I will go pack some stuff,” Harper says, yanking Ivy to her feet.

Once they are out of sight, Riley and I look at Kace. “Dude, you should just go there already,” Riley says, laughing.

“Fuck off,” he says, giving him the finger as he walks into the kitchen.

We laugh when Kace throws the top of the beer toward the garbage and misses. It pisses him off, which just makes it funnier. I grab a beer for me and Riley and lean against the counter. I tip it back and look at them both. “I wanna ask you guys something before I bring it up to Brooks and Enzo,” I say.

“What’s up?” Riley asks. While Kace just nods his head.

“Harper was saying how much she misses working and feeling like she has a purpose. You guys saw what she did at Club Kingsley. What’s your thoughts on letting her take charge of Souls Two?”

Riley finishes off his beer, tossing it into the trash. “I think it’s a great idea.”

  “Me too,” Kace agrees.

I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it. It crushed me when she said she needed to feel like she had a purpose. She has a purpose with me, but I understand she needs something for herself. She’s told me how much she loved running Club Kingsley, and how she built it from the ground up. That’s exactly what we need with Souls Two. It’s just been sitting for months, it’s time to get it up and running.

“You guys ready?” Harper asks, holding a bag. Ivy is very unhappy standing next to her, looking at the ground.

  “Yeah, let’s go,” I say.

Finn drives the girls and we follow. When we get to Souls, it’s still pretty packed. I have Finn put the bags in the back and we all sit down. Porter and Alex, drag over chairs to join us.

“It’s been awhile since we were all here together,” Riley says, with a grin.

“Fuck yeah, it’s nice to have Harper back in the mix,” Alex says, raising his beer.

Her smile could light up the darkest room. I can’t remember a time when she looked so happy and relaxed. It makes my pulse pick up when I realize that I’m at least part of the reason. I need this shit to be over so we can move on. I have plans, huge plans.

“You guys just like that I keep Z in place,” she jokes.

“Holy shit, that’s the truth. I don’t know what you did the last week or so, but I think I owe you a shot or two,” Porter says, waving Finn over.

I laugh, pulling her off her chair and onto my lap. The urge to touch her is overwhelming and I’m not sure how long I’m going to last before I drag her into the back.

“Finn, come on you slow shit,” Alex yells.

“You guys need to give him a break. I don’t think the poor guy even sleeps,” Harper says.

Alex finishes off his beer, sliding it across the table. “Oh, come on, Harper. You know that’s what prospects are for,” he says.

“Yeah I know, but if you guys would talk to him a little, he might surprise you,” she says, with a shrug.

“What’s that supposed to mean?” I question.

Ivy looks at Harper with sharp eyes and it really makes me wonder what the hell is going on. “It means, he might have stories that you guys would actually enjoy. I’m just saying, maybe have a beer with him sometime. That’s all.”

Just then, Finn drops off our shots and beers. He goes to walk away and Kace grabs his arm. “Go get a beer and pull up a chair.”

Ivy and Harper smile, which should make me more curious, but Harper keeps moving on my lap and it’s making it difficult to focus on anything but my hardening dick.

Riley passes out the shots, holding his up. “Here’s to ending this bullshit war, good friends, and lots of pussy.”

We all hold up our shot glasses before tossing them back. I look around at everyone, thankful for this family that isn’t blood. Even though we still have a lot of shit to figure out, we still have each other and that’s good for right here and now.

Like so many times before, I just sit back and listen to it all. Alex and Porter teasing each other, Kace and Riley laughing as they encourage it, even Finn joins in. Harper’s sweet voice wraps around me every time she says something. Her laughter is the reason this small grin is on my face. She always has fit right in, made everyone she’s around love her. She’ll fight to the death, but she’ll cry right along with you. She’s a woman like no other and I’m fucking lucky because she’s mine.

“Z?” Kace says, snapping me out of my thoughts.

“What?” I ask, sipping my beer.

“Do you ever pay attention when we’re all together,” he asks, laughing.

I smile, tightening my arm around Harper’s waist. “No.”

“He'd pay attention if it was Harper talking,” Riley says, wiggling his eyebrows.

  “You’re goddamn right I would.”

“Asshole, anyway, I asked if you talked to Brooks or Enzo since you left?” Alex asks.

  “No, why?”

We all take another shot, slamming our glasses down. “I was just curious. They took off shortly after you guys left. I asked where they were going, but all Brooks said was, be back.”

I sigh and try not to let it get the best of me. The lies and secrecy are fucking ridiculous at this point. Obviously, I’m not the only one who is noticing. But, in an effort to keep the peace until I know anything for sure, I say, “Probably the wives cracking the whips. You know how those two are.”

Everyone laughs but agrees. They all continue talking, but I’m focused on Harper’s ass. She isn’t even intentionally doing it, but every time she moves, her tight ass is rubbing against me. I reach my hand around, resting it on her upper thigh. She peeks back at me and I wink. Her smile widens as she turns back to the conversation. I slowly move my hand up her thigh, so grateful she has a skirt on. My other hand now rests on her other thigh. I feel her inhale deeply and it makes my cock even harder.

I keep the left hand on her thigh but continue moving my right hand up. When I reach her panties, she reaches down to grab my hand. I use my other hand to grab her wrist tightly, pulling it away. I keep my tight hold on it under the table. My fingers run along her panties and I can feel how wet she is through them. It’s fucking hot. I don’t stop there though. I’m so fucking turned on and the idea of being caught touching her just adds to it.

I slip my fingers through the side of her panties and slowly move them. Her pussy is soaked and when my fingers drag along it, she pushes down on me. She wants me to stop, but I can’t. It’s exciting, especially when I pinch her clit and she tries to hide her moan.

  “You alright, Harper?” Riley asks.

I chuckle behind her, but she doesn’t miss a beat. “Yeah, the alcohol is getting to me.”

My fingers are as wet as she is as I rub her clit. She’s moving on me and I tighten my hold on her wrist. I bite down gently on the
spot between her neck and shoulder, as I push two fingers inside her tight pussy. Her other hand comes down and she pushes against my hand. Fuck, my girl is into it.

I’m not even paying attention to anyone or anything else. My fingers working her over, under the table, is all that matters. She turns her head toward me, biting her lip, as she slowly grinds against my fingers. I pick up my pace, fucking her with my fingers. Her hand on top of mine pushes harder and I can feel her tightening on my fingers. The need to have her come right here, with everyone around, is overwhelming. I’m clenching my teeth as I bring her closer to the edge. Her head is down a bit, her hair curtaining her face, as she lets me finish her.

Her nails dig into the top of my hand as she comes all over my fingers. It’s fucking hot. The control I feel right now needs to continue.

I pull my fingers out of her, stand up, and toss her over my shoulder. Neither of us say a word, we just leave. We get to what used to be the room I always stayed in and kick the door closed behind us. I let her slide down my body and sink my fingers into her hair, slamming my mouth to hers. The need to possess her is tense. I break the kiss and step back.

I drag my eyes over her as I remove my shirt. “That was fucking hot.” I drop my pants, my boxers going with them. I grab my cock in my hand, pumping it as my eyes lock with hers. “Get your clothes off. I need to fuck you,” I demand.

She steps out of her skirt and quickly pulls off her shirt. Seeing her standing there in just her bra and panties has me pumping my dick faster. She notices and swiftly removes what’s left. “That was hot, baby. But watching you right now, is hotter.”

I grab her and toss her onto the bed. I climb on and flip her onto her stomach. She gets on her knees, but leaves her upper body pressed to the bed. I grab onto her hips, digging my fingers in, and slam into her.
