He knew he had to let go of her before he did something they would both regret, but he was truly hypnotized. The flames that embodied him sparked even more, but neither of them burned from them. Was she always this beautiful? This sexy? He thought. He watched as her full lips parted words coming out of them, and he didn’t hear a word as her pink tongue snaked over her teeth. He wanted to devour those lips more than anything else in his lifetime. Scarlett arched her eyebrow as she waited for him to speak, but nothing came out of his mouth as he fought his body’s reaction to her. Scarlett snapped her fingers in his face, and he finally was let out of her trance.
“Did you hear anything I’ve said?” She angrily spat.
Aides cleared his throat.
“I did. Now, would you mind getting off my lap?” He smirked.
Scarlett looked down at where she was straddling him, and she cleared her throat, letting go of his shirt, slowly moving out of his lap. Aides stifled a groan as he felt her warm, bare thighs caressing his muscular thighs as she got off him.
CHAPTER 4
Alcide lightly tapped Arabella and signaled for them to leave the two alone for a bit. He got the vibe that Aides wasn’t telling him everything about the relationship between the two.
“let’s give them a minute.” Alcide suggested to Arabella, and she nodded.
When him he and Arabella got to the hall, she stopped in her tracks,
“Was it just me or something is going on between the two?”
Alcide shrugged his shoulders.
“I’m as surprised as you. I didn’t think Aides cared about anyone but himself.”
Arabella lightly chuckled and knew that she would wait to ask her sister when she could actually get Scarlett’s full attention.

Back in the room, Aides eyed Scarlett as she sat back. He took another look at her as she stared down at her trembling hands. He knew that she had crossed a line that she could never come back from. He tried to clear his head, he knew he had a soft spot for her, but he had to make her realize that in this case, she did nothing wrong. She needed to know that death was inevitable. He reached out as he lightly grabbed her jaw and made her look up at him.
“Don’t.” He roughly said.
Scarlett looked in his eyes,
“Don’t what?” She questioned him.
“Don’t sit here and act like it’s your fault because you took someone’s life in order to survive.”
Scarlett roughly pulled her jaw out of his grip and got off the bed. She knew that he was going to try and make her feel better about this. She wasn’t okay with it, especially because she took a life and now someone was missing their family member all because she needed to survive. It made her mad that her brain was leaning more on the side of she had to do it to survive, but her heart was displeased. Her brain didn’t want to cope with her heart and realize that someone lost their life, and she took that from them. She had never killed anyone before, and she didn’t know what she was going to do now. Did someone see her? Were they going to report her to the police?
“Stop.” Aides said to her as he stood up from his bed and started to pace the room. He had to convince her that it wasn’t her fault.
Scarlett sat on the bed and watched as Aides paced the room. He was no longer in his full glory of flames, yet she couldn’t help but stare at him. She continued to follow his steps, she understood that it wasn’t her fault but still… She looked down at her hands that had dried blood on them, and her head started pounding. Her breath became heavier as she continued to stare at the dried blood bringing her back to when she woke up in a pool of Tristan’s blood. Her mother told her that she was crazy, and she killed Tristan, yet she didn’t believe that. She refused to believe it.
She didn’t remember what happened before that, all she remembered was waking up next to Tristan as his body had become cold. Blood was in her hair, on her clothes, and it poured out of his body. Scarlett knew she was having a panic attack. Unfortunately, nothing she thought of calmed her down. In fact, it only hyped it up, causing her breath to escalate. Her vision became blurry as she lost all focus. She was losing herself again, and she didn’t know what to do.
Aides stopped in his tracks as he heard Scarlett’s erratic breathing. He knew that she used to have panic attacks when she was younger. He turned and faced her, he ran to her as she continued to stare at her hands that had blood on them.
“Scar…Scarlett. Listen to my voice.” He calmly said to her.
She looked up in his direction, but he could tell she wasn’t seeing him. She was too far gone right now, and he had to get her back.
“Tristan…Tristan…” She called out.
It pained Aides to hear her calling her dead brother out like this. He took one of her hands into his and burned her a bit. Scarlett screamed and looked at him, she didn’t get what just happened. As she was about to ask, he healed her burn. He stood up and leaned down, picking her up in his arms, and without letting her know what he was doing, he brought her to the bathroom.
With his mind, he turned on the shower water speeding it up to the perfect temperature. He set her down and waited for her to look up at him.
“Get rid of it all.” He said and turned to walk away.
“Wait…” She asked him afraid he was walking out and not coming back, “are you leaving?” She asked him.
“No. I’ll be right out the door.” He replied to her.
Scarlett took one step closer as he started to walk away.
“Please stay in here. Don’t leave out that door.”
Normally, Aides didn’t care what anyone requested of him. He did what he wanted to do, but Scarlett was different. Different how? He had no idea, but when those words came out of his mouth, something in him stirred. He didn’t move, nor did he turn around.
Scarlett watched for a moment seeing that Aides wasn’t going anywhere, she slowly retreated and reached for the hem of her hoodie. She took it off quickly and jumped in the shower. She had never been so happy to be in a shower as much as right now. She shut her eyes and let the water cleanse her even though she will never forget what happened tonight. She let the water rinse the blood and opened her eyes, looking at her toes as the blood washed away in the drain.

Aides shut his eyes as he stood in the same spot. He heard every step Scarlett took to get in the shower, and his body came to life. Every raggedy breath she took, he wanted to inhale. He shut his eyes as she silently let tears run down her cheeks. He wanted to lick her tears and taste her fears, her hurt, what brought her happiness and even what turned her on to the point that her body would sweat burning with desire from his touch. Aides opened his mouth, and yellowish orange mist left his mouth filling the room. He had to get his body and urges under control, he was the god of the underworld, no one not even someone he could say he cared about could rile him up like this. He slowed his breathing as he tried to think of other things, but her scent seemed to slither around his neck and tighten the grip. He lowly growled and snapped his fingers, leaving the bathroom going back to his bedroom.
Sitting on the chair in his bedroom, Cerberus ran to its master, and Aides petted the dog. He stared at his California sized king bed that was all black with uniquely carved and crafted to fit him. He watched his black silk sheets as they were void. Aides snapped his fingers, and a female appeared before him. She looked at him and knew what she was to do. Her creamy skin glowed and was the complete contrast of the sheets as she spread her legs open, her fingers gripping her breasts as she stimulated herself.
He watched her as she continued torturing herself before her fingers made a trail down to touch herself. He smirked and snapped his fingers again, and another female appeared. She licked her lips as she watched the first female pleasure herself. Aides touched the second girl, the red head with his mind. He didn’t move as his fingers invisibly brushed over her hard nipples as she now stood on all fours in front of the first girl. He spread her legs farthe
r apart as he arched her back moving her face towards the first girl’s pearl. He whispered in her ear to show him how the redhead wanted to also be pleasured.
“Show me…” A black mist left his lips and circled both of the girls as they both felt his touch on them without him leaving his chair.
He shooed Cerberus away as he snapped his fingers again, and a third girl appeared in front of him. He looked down at her and smiled, she smiled back showing her dimples. Her complexion and eyes reminded him of Scarlett, but he tried to ignore that as she unzipped his pants. She pulled his thick, throbbing member out of his boxers and the girl gasped. He looked down at her as she stared at his member like it was some sort of deity for her to worship. He smirked at her and moved his hips closer. The girl automatically opened her mouth and took him in. His head fell back, and he shut his eyes, releasing more of the black mist which intensified the need in the room.
The two girls on the bed moaned louder as if he was thrusting inside of them which he was without moving from his seat. The girl that had him in her mouth got bolder and started to take him even deeper, hitting the back of her throat, yet not all of him was inside of her mouth. His hand moved, and his fingers slid into her hair. He gripped her brown shoulder shoulder-length hair and started to show her his power which each thrust. With each thrust, the females on the bed moaned and screamed his name as if the ecstasy was too much for them. He heard one of them start to cry as he sped up but kept the same powerful roughness. He sucked in his bottom lip as he was close to his release while the girls, even the one who had him in her mouth, were on their third orgasm.
“Mmmm…” Aides groaned and felt the build-up coming right from his spine, and it was going to be powerful. “Scarlett.” He called out, and it was as if a record was scratched.
Everything froze, he opened his eyes and righted his head. He watched as the girls looked up at him in confusion. He shook his head and yanked his member out of the girl’s mouth. He snapped his fingers, and the girls were gone. He tucked himself back into his pants, zipping up his pants then he growled loudly and ran a frustrated hand through his hair.

When Aides finally came back to the room, Scarlett was asleep in bed. He watched her as she slept, He walked closer to her and watched her form as she slept in the fetal position with her back to him. Her body was trembling as if she couldn’t stop being cold. He reached out feeling her forehead, and her entire body felt cold. Without thinking, he yanked the bed sheet back and turned her. He suppressed a groan as the force of him turning her caused her chest to bounce in the tank top that barely covered them. He shut his eyes, letting his mind wander to anything else but that.
“I’m so cold.” Scarlett stated while still induced with sleep. Her body broke out into goosebumps.
Aides didn’t get what was happening, why was she shivering this bad? He hovered his hands over her trying to calm her trembling by healing her, but that made it worse. He automatically stopped when her teeth started to chatter loudly.
“What the hell!” He bellowed. He telepathically summoned Alcide.
A moment passed, and Alcide appeared in the room.
“What’s going on?” Alcide rubbed his eyes, opening them to adjust to the room. He looked down at Scarlett. “What’s wrong with her?”
“I don’t know!” Aides yelled.
“Why is she shivering like that? What did you do?”
A slow, menacing growl escaped Aides’ lips.
“I won’t even entertain you with an answer. Just heal her!” He yelled.
Alcide watched his uncle for a moment before moving closer to Scarlett’s still trembling body.
As he stood over her body, he shut his eyes, trying his best to concentrate over his Uncle’s menacing presence. He tried; he really did, but something was going on with Scarlett. Never, in the history of him being alive had he not been able to heal a human being.
Alcide turned facing Aides, he opened his eyes, meeting angry ones. He shook his head,
“I can’t heal her. Something is blocking me, it’s like… Like,” Alcide wasn’t sure how to put it, but Aides finished his sentence for him.
“Like, she’s soul less.” He finished. There was such conviction in his words that Alcide had no choice but to believe him.
“How is that possible? Every human alive has a soul, and I know she’s never died before so,” Alcide stopped.
He angrily glared at his uncle, what did Aides do to the poor girl. Aides clenched his teeth, trying not to attack his nephew and teach him a lesson. It wasn’t Aides’ job to collect souls, even if he did enjoy having them in his possession, especially the worst ones. Torture was his favorite game, but right now, none of that mattered. All that was important was her. The girl that he watched grow up into a beautiful woman. One that he had considered at first as an investment, then when he met her, she became someone he slowly cared about but now… Now, he didn’t know how to feel. Everything was upside down. His feelings, his frustrations and especially after he had called her name out as if she was the one that he wanted to be with. None of this made sense, but he didn’t have the luxury of dwelling on it because she was getting worse by the minute.
“I have her soul. I am her soul actually. She and her sister were a gift to their mother, Rai but she knew that the price was one of her twins. One of them would always belong to me because I gave a small part of me,” Aides admitted. Alcide stared at him as though he had lost his mind. Aides shrugged and continued. “It was my contingency plan just in case Rai tried to play around with me. No one does me dirty and gets away with it.”
“Can you save her though?” Alcide asked.
Aides looked from his nephew to Scarlett. He took a deep breath, not wanting to do what he had to do next, but he knew that this was probably the only way. He had to calm part of his soul in order for this to work.
“I’m Aides, I know what to do.” He answered.
Aides walked over to Scarlett, discarding his clothes remaining only in his boxers. He took a deep breath as he slid into bed with her. He removed her clothing, knowing they needed the body heat. He kept his mind neutral as he pulled her into his arms. He shut his eyes as he called to his being. His god. The only thing that differentiated him from everyone else around him. His entire body became a flame encompassing not just him but now, Scarlett. She wasn’t ever going to burn from them, but instead, he took this time to claim what he could of his soul. It was never hers, and he wasn’t going to pretend that it was.
Scarlett didn’t stop shivering, but it did get better. She was able to open her eyes, staring right into Aides’ eyes. She blinked, becoming more aware of everything around her. Scarlett did the last thing that Aides thought she’d do as she wrapped her arms around his neck,
“I’m so cold, Aides. Warm me up. Please… Please,” She begged.
Aides knew that he had to raise the temperature. He telepathically talked to Alcide.
Go! You can’t handle this heat. Go, watch over your family. I have to consume her.
Alcide didn’t ask; instead, he walked out of the room. He trusted his uncle no matter what. Dare he say it, Aides was in love and didn’t know it. He didn’t want to break Aides’ concentration hence his lack of even bringing it up, but he saw it. He didn’t miss the tender way Aides took care of her. It was laughable to say that the Hades even knew how to love. Everyone assumed that he loved Persephone, but if he did, he would’ve never let her go. All those years ago, he told her that he no longer wished to see her. She served her purpose, and in exchange, she received everything a queen could. From the way, she was treated to the lavish lifestyles. Aides wasn’t a jealous person so whomever she desired, he let her have them because that’s what she wanted. Yet…now, Alcide knew.
He knew what love resembled. It was never in the words; it was always in the actions. From searching from her letting the worry age him a bit to the way she called on him, and he didn’t hesitate to answer. Alcide smiled, knowing that
the one thing his dear old uncle he always avoided crept up without so much as a notice. When he shut the door, he knew immediately that Aides sealed it. He could feel the heat coming from it, but it didn’t expand.
Meanwhile, Aides released his full glory, and it woke Scarlett up even more than she realized. She screamed. He knew that it felt like her entire body was on fire. This was part of it all. Some called it being fire kissed. Centuries and centuries of them talking about those who were selected to become kissed by the fire of Aides, but they didn’t realize what they had to give up in order for that to transpire. Their soul was never theirs again, but in the case of Scarlett, she didn’t even have. Scarlett tried to get away from Aides as the fire increased consuming the entire room and her. She felt it in the depth of her as though it was always part of her, but it hurt so badly. It was odd that she felt tears as they escaped her eyes. It didn’t cool the fire; instead, it intensified it.
“Why?!” Scarlett screamed. “Why are you doing this to me?!”
Aides stared at her as she now glared at him. She tried to push him off, but she was no match for him.
“Scarlett…” He called out to her, but she wanted to be free. To get rid of the pain that consumed her.
Scarlett made it harder for Aides, but he had to hold on to her. They tousled on the bed as he tried his best not to break concentration or hurt her. He finally held her in place as he hovered over her with her arms over her head. She was breathing hard not just from exhaustion but also from trying to pry his heavy legs off hers.
“You’ve never loved me,” Scarlett cried out as though she had been betrayed. “You’re just like them!” She yelled louder as the hardest part of it all took place.
