And most of all, my enormous Wild West family. Thank you to my mother, Renee Fajardo, for her unruliness, beauty, and for the deep sense of justice she instilled in her seven children. To my father, Glen Anstine, for delivering books to my door when I was a depressed teenager. Papa, you always had faith in my abilities as an artist. To my six siblings—Asia, Avalon, Sydney, Tim, Dylan, and Piper—what a world we shared growing up, and what best friends I have found in you as adults. To my grandparents, and to my godmother, Joanna Lucero, for gifting me with their stories. To my partner, Tyler, for teaching me that we are all deserving of great love.
And to the girls—may you see yourselves in books, may you write your own, and may your strength burn brighter than any sun.
