I burst out laughing. “I’m surprised as hell, Rochelle. It’s nothing wrong with what you did. I’m seriously just surprised. So… you’re like a swinger in training now?” Rochelle’s shoulders sagged slightly as if she was relieved by what I said. Grabbing her hand, I squeezed it. “Hey, believe me, I’m not judging you, babe. What you did was cool. You’re grown as hell, Rochelle. Who am I to pass judgment on what you do? Now, answer my question. Are you a swinger in training?”
She chuckled. “Hell no, I am not. However, I do plan to attend another party next month,” she admitted while chewing on her lower lip.
I let out a breath. “I wish I had yo damn confidence to do some shit like that.” I took a drink of my iced tea before looking back at her.
“You can come with me to the next party. I’m pretty sure no one would know you there. Besides, you can wear a mask to be on the safe side,” she stated.
My brows went up at her invite. “Um… no.” My head shook. “No!” I repeated. That wasn’t something I’ve ever thought about doing. “It’s nothing wrong with being a swinger. It’s just not for me. No.” My head shook as I chuckled lightly.
Rochelle shrugged. “Okay… but… how would you know what’s not for you if you don’t try it at least once?” she asked, staring curiously at me.
“I don’t, but that’s not something I’m willing to do, especially not with a bunch of strangers—”
She waved her hand, cutting me off. “Strangers are the best way to do it. No one knows you, that’s the amazing part, so it can’t follow you back home, Janessa,” she explained.
Even so, my head shook. “Maybe, but still, no. It’s just not something I would wanna do.”
“Okay… but you wouldn’t have to participate in the activities if you don’t want to. You could simply watch. Plus, it’s not like you’ll be by yourself. I’ll be there.” Her shoulder hunched up to her cheek as she smiled sheepishly.
Laughing, my eyes rolled at her. “That’s still a no, Rochelle.” I mimicked her action but smiling wider than her.
“Whatever. You’re missing out. And this is the last time I’ll ever try to invite yo’ ass to something new. Now, tell me about this crazy ass weekend of yours.”
I chuckled for a few seconds before my eyes rolled as I thought on my weekend. “I got into a fight,” I started by saying.
Rochelle stopped mid drink, surprise covering her features. “What the hell? With who? Why the hell are you just telling me this now? This some shit you should’ve told me after it fuckin’ happened. What the fuck? With who, Janessa?”
“Montrell’s sister and her best friend, who he had been messing around with—”
Rochelle’s hand waved. “Hold up, that sonofabitch was cheating on you? Are you fuckin’ serious?” Her voice rose. She was madder than I was when I found out.
I laughed at her reaction. “Girl, I’m not mad about him cheating. Us women have that second sense when we know something is going on with our man. I’ve never gotten it. They’ve been messing around for three years, and I never suspected it. I think that was around the time I stopped being in love with him. That’s the only explanation I have as to why I didn’t know.”
The angry lines in her face faded, and she stared thoughtfully at me. “Maybe so… because for three years, and you not to know. Yeah, maybe you just didn’t care at that point, even though you still expressed love for him. Because, baby, when I was married, I knew everything and fought every female. It wasn’t until I had gotten tired that I stopped fighting them. You know the crazy thing about that was, I was fighting them because I couldn’t whoop his ass or leave him. So, they got my rage,” she admitted with a roll of her eyes. “But that’s neither here nor there now. Okay, finish telling me what happened with this whore.” She spat whore out like it was dirt on her tongue.
I laughed before I jumped back into the story and told her everything.
“Jolly!” Ashaun loud voice reached my ears. “Nigga, is you listening?” he asked as something hit my chest.
I peeked out of one eye and saw everybody looking at me. “Man, I can hear yo’ ass. I ain’t got to be staring at you to hear what’s coming out yo’ fuckin’ mouth, so stop yelling.”
“Didn’t yo’ ass just leave school? Nigga, you shouldn’t still be tired,” Ashaun said as he tossed a small stress ball at me.
Groaning, I grabbed the ball before it could roll to the floor. “Man, I ain’t sleep.” I threw the ball back at him as I sat up. My hand rubbed over my head, and I stared at my feet for a minute. I was trying to wake myself up, but I was tired as hell. “What you say about Mac?” I questioned, making him laugh.
“I thought yo’ ass heard every fuckin’ thing?” Ashaun sounded irritated.
I shrugged then sat back. “I did, I just need yo’ ass to repeat what the fuck you said, is all. Unless you forgot what the fuck you said.” When he glared at me, I smiled at him before laughing. The office door opened, and Akil walked in. “What’s up, Killah?”
He slapped me upside the head. “What’s good, baby?” he stated, then shook up with my brother.
The sting to the back of my head woke my ass up more. “Hit me again, and I’mma lay yo’ ass the fuck out, Killah. Stop playing,” I snapped while rubbing my head.
Akil laughed as he sat on Ashaun’s desk. “Nigga, fuck you. Yo ass ain’t gon’ do shit but sit there and be mad,” he clowned while grabbing his phone.
“If that’s Nya, tell her I said what’s up.” He shot me a glare before responding to a message. “I’ight, now what were you saying about Mac, Shaun?” I asked, getting back on track.
Shaun’s finger went to the side of his head, and he moved it in a circular motion. “That mothafucka ain’t all the way there in the head, yo. I had to stop that mothafucka from killing that nigga Que twice inside the house. I admit, Que was acting slow as fuck, though, like he didn't understand the switch before the drop-off. It took me a second to realize it was a role dude was just playing. But that mothafucka, Mac, was ready to blow that nigga’s shit back. Patience ain’t that nigga’s strong point. So, I tell that nigga, patience is the fun part of the game when you playing cat and mouse with mothafuckas. With a straight face, dude said, ‘I don’t play fuckin’ games. I kill and be done.’” Shaun’s head shook as if he was disappointed.
I nodded and laughed. “That’s Mac’s ass, real shit. He ain’t got no mothafuckin’ patience at all. Shid, to be honest, you shouldn’t leave that nigga alone with Que’s ass at all. Shid, have that nigga Snoop with him when they meet up. I’mma be pissed if he kills that nigga before planned.” Pulling out my phone, I texted Mac, asking where the hell he was. “How everything else go with the meeting, though?”
Ashaun’s head snapped toward me so fast. “Nigga, what the fuck you just ask me?”
I looked at Jonell, not knowing if I had missed something. “What’s wrong with that question?”
Ashaun glanced at Jonell as if asking him was I serious. “Jolly, yo’ ass was really sleeping that whole time, man? I done ran every fuckin’ thing down from the time we got there to yo’ boy trying to kill that nigga.”
I was out of it. I had been tired as fuck since that morning. Aside from Ashaun saying Mac’s name, I didn’t hear a gotdamn thing he said.
“What the fuck is up with this nigga today? Yo’ ass is usually happy go lucky after you done been with that teacher babe,” Ashaun claimed, and Jonell started laughing. “What? She wasn’t there or some shit?” he asked, looking from me to my brother.
Jonell started laughing. “Oh, her ass was there. She done fucked my baby brotha up…” Jonell got up and went over to Ashaun with his phone in hand.
“What happened now?” Akil asked, paying attention to Jonell.
Hell, I was curious to know what the fuck he was about to do with his phone.
Jonell pointed to me and chuckled. “Janessa ass done fucked Rome up this morning.” A few seconds later, a loud snoring sound came from the phone.r />
“What the fuck is that?” I snatched the phone from him only to see my ass knocked the fuck out on my desk. Akil snatched it from me and went over to Shaun. “Yo’ ass recorded me sleeping. What the fuck?”
“That nigga been out since he was with Janessa this morning. She knocked that nigga out. Dude been napping like a fuckin’ baby all morning,” Jonell told them, cracking the hell up.
“Hell no, Jolly. Nigga, yo’ ass ain’t let that fuckin’ babe do you like this!” Akil’s head shook as he stared at the phone. The snoring got loud as hell, and they fell the fuck out laughing.
I snatched the phone from Akil. “Man, fuck y’all. She ain’t put my ass to sleep, nigga. I was fuckin’ tired from trying to finish up that damn work she had us fuckin’ doing.”
“Nah, baby, shorty put yo’ ass to sleep. So, let me get this straight, while you was out like a baby, shorty taught a whole ass class?” Akil took the phone from me once again and started playing the video.
“Hell yeah, she did. She didn’t miss a beat. But this ain’t shit. Y’all should’ve heard that nigga moaning like a bitch while they were fuckin’. First, he had her ass going, then I don’t know what the fuck happened, but my nigga was in there moaning like a bitch. I was sitting in the hallway pissed off because his ass was louder than her. Give me this.” He took his phone back.
“I know damn well yo’ ass ain’t record us fuckin?” I was about to beat the shit out of my brother if he had. I didn’t care; I was going to stomp his ass the fuck out. That was some shit you didn’t do.
He looked at me like I was stupid. “Rome, what the fuck I look like recording yo’ ass fuckin’? Man, shut the fuck up talking to me before I knock yo’ stupid ass out,” he snapped before the sounds of my groans came through the phone.
I glared at his ass. I knew damn well I didn't sound like that, nor was I that gotdamn loud. I hoped like fuck I wasn’t. “Man, hell no. That ain’t me.” Jonell turned the phone my way, and sure enough, it showed the room door. “Man, fuck you. Delete that shit.”
Ashaun broke out laughing. “Hold the fuck up, did that nigga say, sweetheart, slow up? Damn, Jolly, don’t tell me you went out like that, and then you went to sleep afterward in front of her ass, though.” His head shook. “Damn, yo’ ass about to be like this nigga.” He pointed to his brother. “A whipped ass bitch.”
“Nigga, fuck you. Hell yeah, I’m whipped as a mothafucka behind Nya’s ass. Shaun, yo’ ass ain’t never had no good ass pussy, so yo’ black ass can’t begin to understand that knock out shit. I mean…” Akil looked at me. “My shorty ain’t never knocked my ass out like that before—”
“Man, fuck y’all. Shorty ain’t knock my ass out. I was already tired as fuck.”
Janessa’s pussy had a mothafuckin’ grip that was something fuckin’ serious. The shit felt so gotdamn good. Earlier, when we were fuckin’, the shit was just different—the feeling was better somehow, which I couldn’t understand. I started laughing at their clowning.
“Y’all niggas ain’t shit for real. Man, that babe fucked my ass up this morning. Shorty got my ass in that damn chair, and it was over. Yo, I done fucked hella chicks since I started fuckin’, but man…” My head shook as I thought about Janessa’s pussy grip. “That bitch poison, man.”
“I told yo’ ass a long time ago to leave that babe alone. I knew when I first met her ass that she was too much for you. She’s the type of mothafucka that’ll bring emotions out yo’ ass that you ain’t ready for. Shid, you saw how that nigga broke down for her ass. That babe had dude ass sobbing. That nigga was heartbroken over her ass. She’s too… grown for yo’ ass, especially if you ain’t ready for no love type shit right now. You should’ve started off with something simple, like that one stripper babe.”
Part of me felt some type of way behind Akil’s words, but the logical side knew he was right. I wished like hell I would’ve left Janessa alone from jump because she definitely had my emotions on a spin cycle.
“Simple ain’t never just that, for real. It always tries to turn into something more. Diamond’s ass was cool, but that shit wasn’t going to work out. She was going to start expecting too much. Plus, simple wasn’t for me…” Looking over at Shaun, I smiled. “I like the whole teacher, student thing.”
He laughed with me before shaking his head. “It started off like that, but shit done changed. My nigga, she got yo’ ass hooked.” My brows shot up at his assumption. “Nigga, don’t look at me like that. So, it ain’t shit but fuckin’ with you and shorty?” He sat up, his eyes locked with mine.
I mimicked his actions and shrugged once I was upright. “It ain’t shit serious with us. We just fuckin’, that’s it.”
Ashaun nodded and waved his pointer finger at me. “I’ight, give me yo’ phone.” My eyes slanted in confusion. “Just give it here,” he insisted.
I glanced at my brother, and he shrugged.
Grabbing my phone, I tossed it to him, giving him the code to get into the device. He had my phone for a few seconds before tossing it back. He then grabbed his own. “What the fuck you do?”
He held a finger up as he played around on his phone. “You sho’ it ain’t shit with that babe? No feelings, shit. It’s just sex.”
I shrugged. “Nigga, I done already answered that.”
He nodded as he looked back at his phone. “So, say if a nigga wanted to fuck her. You wouldn’t care.”
I didn’t like where his gotdamn questions were going. My chest grew tight at the thought of another nigga trying to get with her. It wasn’t even one hundred percent about a nigga wanting to fuck her because she was attractive as hell. It was the thought of another nigga trying to date her that I didn’t like. Although my head shook, no words left my mouth.
“Now, remember you said that. So, yo’ ass can’t get pissed.” He chuckled while smirking at his phone. His fingers moved across the screen. Once they stopped, the phone started ringing a few seconds later. Ashaun’s eyes met with mine as he answered. “Janessa, how you doing, sweetheart?”
The tight grip on my middle made me realize I had gotten up and was mugging my cousin hard as fuck.
Ashaun pointed at me. “Yo’ ass try and touch me if you wanna. I’mma shoot the fuck out yo’ ass,” he threatened but laughed, nonetheless.
“Hello?” Janessa's voice came through the speaker. “Hello? Ashaun?”
That mothafucka really called her ass. I didn’t want to beat my cousin’s ass, but if he tried some shit with Janessa, I was going to stomp his ass out.
I pushed Akil off me as I mugged Ashaun. “Don’t make me fuck you up, Shaun.”
He waved me off, then turned away from me. “Yeah, I’m here, sweetheart. Sorry about that.”
I went for him, and Akil grabbed me as Jonell stood up.
“Jolly, calm yo’ ass down. Matter fact, sit the fuck down. Yo’ ass getting hot for shit,” Akil snapped at me in a hushed tone.
My eyes moved from the back of Ashaun’s head to Akil. He tapped his ear, then pressed a finger to his lips.
I shrugged him off me but sat down no less, all the while, glaring at Ashaun. That mothafucka had gotten Janessa’s number from my damn phone.
“What did you want to ask me?” Janessa questioned him.
“Oh, how was Jolly today in class? Did he seem alright?” he asked her, and the line became silent.
“Um…” she spoke slowly as if confused. “He was himself from what I can tell. Why? Is something wrong with him?”
“No, he seems i’ight, sleepy as hell, but he’s straight. I just wanted to see how he’s been. You know, I try to look out for his ass because he could be a hotheaded mothafucka at times. So, he’s doing everything he’s supposed to, right? He ain’t slacking in any areas at all? You can be straight up with me. Because if he’s failing at anything, I can get on his ass.” Ashaun glanced over at me, with a smirk wide as hell on his face.
I knew I wasn’t tripping. The conversation started out normal, but that mothafu
cka definitely turned that shit sexual. Janessa naïve ass probably wasn’t even going to catch on.
“You are talking about his schoolwork… right?” she asked, her tone no longer confused. Instead, it sounded like she was put off by his innuendo.
“Of course, sweetheart, but if he’s slacking in any other areas, tell me, and I can definitely help him out…” he cockily said to her.
“Look, Ashaun, I don’t know what type of game you’re trying to play here, and honestly, I don’t really care to know. But go play it with someone else because I’m not going to entertain this bullshit…” Janessa’s words trailed off, and she was silent for a second before she chuckled. “You know what? You don’t have to worry about Jerome failing in any school subjects. He’s actually smart as hell. And… the pleasure of teaching him and learning from him is very deeply satisfying. So, you really shouldn’t concern yourself with helping him out in any areas because the body of work he does is honestly, absolutely astounding. So now that you’re all caught up on his extraordinary academic levels, you have yourself a great day. And, Ashaun, please don’t call my phone again, unless it’s something seriously wrong with Jerome. Okay? Great.”
“You know what? I was wrong for coming at you like this. Let me buy you a drink and apologize. Can I do that, Janessa?” Ashaun asked. The line was completely silent. He pulled the phone from his shoulder and looked at the screen. “Yo, that mothafucka hung up on my ass. What the fuck is wrong with her baldheaded ass? That was rude as fuck.”
Jonell and Akil fell out laughing. “Nigga, yo’ ass ain’t even get a chance to spit no game before she checked yo’ ass and then hung the phone up,” Jonell clowned as he continued cracking up.
“Nigga, fuck you. I wasn’t tryna get with her ugly ass no way. I was just bullshittin’, ol’ ugly ass hoe,” Ashaun snapped, glaring at his phone.
“Yo’ ass over there mad, ain’t you?”
After hearing how she handled herself, I wasn’t even pissed. Hell, I didn’t know why I was mad in the first place, especially when I knew Shaun’s dumb ass was just trying to fuck with my head, which I allowed him to do. Nessa caught on to game quick as hell and shut that shit down.
