Meng Lei sat among the clouds with a spatial ring in his hand—the one that he’d just filched from Goblen.
He had initially thought that killing a half-deity would earn him a handsome sum of money, but little did he expect that not only did the system not sound any notifications, but even the spatial ring was also empty.
“All that work had been for nothing?”
Meng Lei was so furious that he was close to swearing. Even killing a Saint Domain Magical Beast could earn him quite a few Laws of Nature Origin Crystal, yet he hadn’t gotten even a single cent from killing a half-deity now.
How infuriating!
“He’s still alive even though he took my Ultimate Alchemy attack. That old fogey definitely still has another incarnation of himself.
“Colossal Dragons are avaricious, yet that old fogey doesn’t even have a single bronze coin on himself. It’s probably because he didn’t bring his assets out with him!”
A shrewd glint flashed across Meng Lei’s eyes. “No, I must find that old fogey’s den! Just how vast would a half-deity’s wealth and assets be? I must get my hands on it! As for that old fogey’s den...”
Meng Lei narrowed his eyes slightly. “I’ve heard from Ol’ President that Dragon Island is the Dragons’ base. The vast majority of pure-blooded Colossal Dragons and Saint Domain Dragon People cultivate in seclusion there. That old fogey’s other incarnation and his den are probably on Dragon Island. The problem is... Where’s Dragon Island?”
“Meng Lei!”
A cool, aloof voice rang out beside him at this moment.
“Who is it?”
Meng Lei looked up abruptly to see that a pretty figure had shown up in front of him at some point. With jade-like skin and gorgeous looks, who could it be other than Abbe?
“Abbe!”
Meng Lei greeted her with a smile. However, he suddenly realized that something didn’t feel quite right—it seemed like he had just slain Frederick the 32nd! W-well, this was awkward!
“Meng Lei, you killed my father!”
Abbe gazed at Meng Lei with a complex look in her eyes. There was pain, agony, and fury in there, but what was present even more so was an internal struggle...
“Do you want to avenge him?” Meng Lei asked with a wry laugh.
“Yes, but I know I’m no match for you. Neither can I make myself do it!”
Abbe slowly closed her eyes as a tear rolled down her cheek.
Meng Lei heaved a sigh while Abbe also fell silent. At once, the atmosphere turned rather heavy.
After quite a while, it was Abbe that broke the silence first.
“I’m leaving, Meng Lei.”
“Leaving? Where are you going?”
Meng Lei was taken aback.
“Somewhere far, far away!”
Abbe sighed softly and said, “Perhaps we’ll never see each other again after today. Take care!”
Then, she turned and left, a crystal-clear teardrop dissipating along with the wind...
“You—”
Meng Lei wanted to call out to her, but he ultimately sighed and murmured, “Abbe, do take care, too.”
...
Abbe left, leaving behind only a heavy, gloomy view of her back and a sense of guilt that wouldn’t disappear.
“I’m sorry, Abbe, but I don’t regret what I did. If I could do it all over again, I would still do what I did. Dragon God Empire is mine!”
Then, Meng Lei got up, turned, and flew toward the Dragon God Empire palace.
He had left in a hurry previously and forgotten to do something important, so he wanted to return and get it done.
Meng Lei traveled very quickly. A few minutes later, he had returned to the area above the palace.
However, the scene currently taking place in the palace somewhat caught him by surprise.
“Throw all these goddamn eunuchs out and change them all to palace maidservants!
“Leave the Empress and all the Royal Consorts. Not a single one is to leave! Yes, they’re mine, all mine!
“Leave the princesses and throw the princes out!”

Chapter 208: Slaying Another Half-Deity, Slaughtering Another 100 Saint Domains
Translator: Atlas Studios Editor: Atlas Studios
A group of strangers had arrived at the Dragon God Empire palace. With dragon horns on their heads, dragon tails on their bottoms, and dragon wings on their backs, every one of them was a Dragon Person.
They numbered roughly 500 and were all Saint Domains. There was no lack of pinnacle-level Saint Domains among them.
There were so many Saint Domains there, yet all of them were revolving around a single person and blindly following his commands—this man was Briggs!
“Listen up now!”
Briggs was dressed in dragon robes and had a crown on his head. He gave off a powerful, majestic aura as he stood proudly in the sky above the palace and overlooked the hundred thousands of people prostrating on the ground.
Among these hundred thousands of people were princes and princesses, the empress and royal consorts, palace maidservants and eunuchs, as well as the Royal Holy Knight Order and the palace guards.
“From today onward, I am Dragon God Empire’s newly-appointed Dragon Emperor! My words are the royal decree! Those who dare defy orders will be slain at once and shown no mercy!”
His mighty and imposing speech resounded throughout the palace and outside it. Everyone was filled with trepidation, their hearts nervous and fearful, yet no one dared to question him.
“Now, I will issue my first decree!”
Briggs was awfully smug. He was the son of a great half-deity, and hence he had been born with a half-deity’s body.
Just how noble was that?
Just how venerable was that?
Yet he simply had no chance at the throne at all!
Just how miserable was that?
Just how sad was that?
However, his wish had finally come true on this day!
“Throw all these goddamn eunuchs out and change them all to palace maidservants!
“Leave the empress and the Royal Consorts!
“The princes and princesses, too! Throw the princes out and leave the princesses!”
With that, Briggs issued his very first royal decree.
Upon hearing such a near-ridiculous decree, everyone was filled with grief, fury, and indignation, yet there was simply nothing they could do. Not only was the new emperor from Dragon Island a half-deity, but he had even brought 500 Saint Domain experts with him.
With such terrifying power and overpowering might, who would dare defy him? Who would dare challenge his authority?
“Have all of you heard my decree loud and clear?”
Briggs shouted coldly, his voice like the rolling thunder.
“Yes, we heard you loud and clear, Your Majesty!”
Everyone hastily replied aloud.
“Great! Get down to it, then!”
With a big wave, Briggs ordered, “Everyone may disperse, but the empress is to stay. By the way, order the imperial kitchen to make me a few light dishes. I’m hungry!”
“Yes, Your Majesty!”
As though they had just been granted amnesty, everyone dispersed and left, leaving behind only a gorgeous, dignified, and graceful young lady still on her knees—it was the empire’s empress and the palace’s previous female master.
Briggs’ gaze swept across the empress, and he licked his lips. Then, to the 500 Saint Domains behind him, he ordered, “You’re dismissed!”
“Yes, Your Majesty!”
...
“Who’s that guy?”
Meng Lei stood among the clouds, currently extremely displeased.
He had fought so hard and so desperately, only to receive not even a single cent. And now, someone had snatched his throne, too.
“Does justice still exist? Is there still any law and order?!”
Meng Lei couldn
’t help but break into a loud rant.
“Who is it?”
A cold shout rang out. Several figures instantly arrived at where he was and surrounded him.
“They’ve discovered me?”
Meng Lei was a little startled.
“Who are you? Why are you hiding here and sneaking around here?”
A muscular, two-meters-tall Golden Colossal Dragon Person with firm muscles all over his body barked fiercely at him.
“Sneaking around? Are you blind? Am I sneaking around?” Meng Lei was displeased. “I’m openly standing here, alright?!”
“How audacious!!”
With a snort of displeasure, the Golden Colossal Dragon Person ordered, “Arrest him! And hand him over to His Majesty for further instructions!”
“Yes, Lord Clement!”
Then, a few Dragon People charged toward Meng Lei, who didn’t resist and instead allowed them to arrest him and bring him over to Briggs.
“Who’s that?” asked Briggs casually after he cast a glance at Meng Lei. Then, he continued to ogle at the beautiful empress, the look in his eyes openly lustful. He was just a step short of salivating.
“He’s probably a random Saint Domain passing by,” replied Clement, the Golden Colossal Dragon Person, respectfully.
“Just kill him then!”
Briggs waved dismissively, completely disinterested in Meng Lei.
“Yes, Your Majesty!” replied Clement. Then, with a wave, he ordered, “Bring him a little further away and kill him!”
“Yes, sir!”
“Let me go! Let me go! Your Majesty, you can’t kill me! You can’t kill me!”
Extremely horrified and fearful, Meng Lei began to wail at the top of his lungs like a big fat pig whose arms and legs had been caught, its tail grasped, and its mouth gagged.
His screams and shouts were hoarse and heart-wrenching.
“I’m your great benefactor! If not for me, would you have the chance to become the emperor? If not for me, you’d still be a Magical Beast on Dragon Island! You can’t repay my kindness with enmity and kill your great benefactor...”
“Eh?”
With a slight frown, Briggs’ sharp, blade-like gaze fell on Meng Lei, and he asked, “What are you talking about? How does me becoming the emperor have anything to do with you?”
“Of course it has something to do with me!”
Meng Lei hastily explained, “If I hadn’t killed the old emperor, would you have the chance to become the new emperor? Your Majesty, you must give credit where it’s due and not repay kindness with enmity. You’ll suffer retribution if you do that, and neither will that bullshit Dragon God let you off...”
“You killed the old emperor?”
A mild jolt went through Briggs while the beautiful empress shuddered hard. The 500 Saint Domains’ countenances also changed dramatically.
“Who exactly are you?”
Briggs’ eyes bore into Meng Lei, hints of murderous intent coming over his eyes.
“Who am I? You don’t even know who I am? As expected, the Dragons are indeed a bunch of ingrates!”
A complete change from his previous lowly demeanor, Meng Lei broke into a rant and jabbed his finger right at Briggs’ nose.
“I’ve helped you kill the emperor and given you the opportunity to become emperor, thereby giving you another chance at life! But look at you! Never mind the fact that you didn’t even thank me, your great benefactor, but you actually even want to kill me.
“You can’t get any crueler and more unscrupulous than that. You can be said to be the most ungrateful person... No, the most ungrateful dragon in the world!”
Meng Lei was completely lashing out now. “Since you’re so heartless and ungrateful, then don’t blame me for lashing out at you!”
“You’re Meng Lei!”
The beautiful empress kneeling on the ground suddenly glared at Meng Lei furiously, alarm and anger coming over her at the same time.
“Meng Lei! You’re Meng Lei?!”
Briggs’ countenance changed at once. “You’re that Meng Lei who murdered the empire’s emperor, slaughtered all the court officials, and killed more than 1,000 Saint Domains?”
“You damned beast, how dare you utter your great benefactor’s name directly!? You’re a perverse one, indeed!”
Meng Lei held his hands behind his back as he declared, “Today, I shall rid the world of an evil and slay a wicked dragon like you!”
“Haven’t you been killed by Father? Why are you here?!” Briggs had a horrified look in his eyes.
“Father? Surely you can’t be talking about that old bastard Goblen?” Meng Lei said dispassionately, “If it’s him that you’re talking about, then sorry, but I’ve already killed him.”
“What?”
Briggs’ countenance changed drastically at once. The 500 Saint Domains also looked at Meng Lei with looks of alarm and horror on their faces.
One must know that Grandmaster Goblen was a half-deity! On top of that, he was even an old-time half-deity with the mightiest power and most venerated status among the Golden Colossal Dragons. Just how strong and powerful was he?
Yet... He had been killed?
Everyone felt a chill that reached deep into their bones!
“You ungrateful damned beast that repays kindness with enmity, you’d better go to hell and keep your father company!”
Meng Lei let out an icy snort. Then, his palm smacked toward Briggs.
Howl!
With a flash, Briggs instantly dodged Meng Lei’s attack. Then, he transformed into a 3,000-feet-long Golden Colossal Dragon.
“Run! I must escape from here immediately!”
Briggs flapped his wings and immediately made a run for it. He didn’t harbor any thoughts of avenging his father at all, merely wishing that he’d been born with another two legs.
Revenge?
Oh my goodness!
Meng Lei had killed even his half-deity father, Goblen. How was a second-generation half-deity like him going to be his match?
He’d better just hurry and flee!
“Run?”
Meng Lei laughed and took a step forward.
The next second, he appeared bizarrely above Briggs and stepped onto his head.
“Damned beast, where do you think you’re going instead of obediently waiting to be slain by me?”
Roar!
Briggs came to a sudden stop and pleaded in a quivering voice, “S-sir, please spare my life! The one that wants to kill you is Goblen! It has nothing to do with me!”
“Goblen? Is it really alright for you to address your father directly by his name like that?”
Meng Lei’s brows knitted together slightly.
“For daring to assassinate you, that knave Goblen is too bold and impudent, perverse, unforgivable, heinous to the extreme, and deserves to die for his crimes!”
A trembling Briggs went on. “It’s a disgrace to have a father like him. I’ve long wanted to sever ties with him and draw a clear line between the two of us. You can verify the authenticity of my claims!”
o((⊙_⊙))o?
Meng Lei was flabbergasted. “Why does someone as shameless and thick-skinned as you even exist in this world? I’m embarrassed to associate with you. You’d better just die!”
Then, the Gods-Slaying Spear shot out of nowhere and instantly pierced through Briggs’ head.
“Ding! 1 Golden Colossal Dragon killed, 891 Laws of Nature Origin Crystals gained!”
A system notification sounded in a timely manner.
“That guy doesn’t have a divine incarnation?”
Meng Lei was slightly taken aback and somewhat surprised.
Judging from Briggs’ size and aura, he was indeed a half-deity. Meng Lei had initially thought that he wouldn’t be able to completely kill him with just one strike.
Little did he expect... that he would.
What a surprise!
What he didn’t know was that Briggs had been born afte
r Goblen had broken through to half-deity status. Though born with a half-deity’s body, his comprehension of laws of nature was actually incredibly poor.
Over the last 20,000-odd years, all Briggs had comprehended was just the Golden Colossal Dragons’ inborn laws of nature, metal-elemental laws of nature.
As he held no aptitude for comprehending laws of nature, he had no need to split his divine spirit. As a result, he didn’t own any incarnations at all.
Without an alternate incarnation, he naturally died with one hit.
“What a pleasant surprise!”
With a wave of his arm, Meng Lei stored Briggs’ carcass into the Tower of Time.
He was currently just a teenage God-Slaying Rat and needed to nourish himself well. Half-deity Golden Colossal Dragon meat would make a pretty good snack.
“H-he’s come over!”
“Quick!”
“Run!”
“Split up and run!”
The 500 Saint Domains had witnessed in entirety Meng Lei killing Briggs. They had long since been frightened out of their wits, so they tried to run at once,
“Divine Technique: Ultimate Alchemy!”
Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!
500 golden light beams, not one more and not one less, descended from above and landed on them with pinpoint accuracy.
Buzz...
Power of divinity erupted and instantly turned 500 fully alive Saint Domains into 500 statues, and they became completely still.
“Another 2,800 Laws of Nature Origin Crystals gained! Not bad, not bad!”
Highly satisfied with his gains, Meng Lei then came up to the empress with a flash.
“W-what do you want?”
Fear had caused blood to drain from the empress’ face and her legs to shake uncontrollably a long time ago. At the sight of Meng Lei, she almost wet herself in fear!
“Answer two questions for me.”
Meng Lei held up two fingers.
“The first: Where’s the imperial treasury?
“And the second: Where’s Dragon Island?”
“N-no, I can’t!”
Her pride as the empress of an empire barely managed to sustain the empress and prevent her from wetting herself in fear. She said, “The imperial treasury is an important place...”
Whoosh!
A golden light beam shot forth and instantly sliced apart the phoenix crown on the empress’ head, frightening her so badly that she collapsed onto the ground.
