He groaned as he dropped down over me, almost crushing me with his weight as he gathered me close in his arms. Protective, possessive, I didn’t care which. All that mattered was he never stopped holding me.
He lifted his head, opening his eyes, and I saw him putting himself back together before he smiled down at me. He was a little rueful, the edge of embarrassment lurking in his eyes.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t realize it would be that fast. You…” he paused to bite his lip. It wasn’t the practiced gesture, but something raw and honest. “You get to me. I can’t resist you. I love you.”
I smiled as I reached up to brush my fingertips across his stubbled jaw.
