Laughing, I pulled her in, and I kissed her again before whispering into her ear. “I’ve spent two nights without you in my bed, and I can’t fucking wait to do all sorts of dirty things to you.” A shiver ran down her body, and I smiled. I loved the reaction I got from her. I slapped her ass. “Now, go pack up so that you’re ready when I get back.” I turned to walk away but remembered something else. “Oh, and I forgot to tell you that Margaret was out there when I came in. She demanded you bring Calum over while you pack because she misses him.”
“Yes, sir.” She laughed as she saluted me.
“See you later, baby.”
“Bye.”
“Bye, Calum. See you soon.” I ruffled his hair as I left.
“Bye-bye.” He waved his little hand at me.
I couldn’t wait for him to see what I’d had in store for him. I knew Calum was going to love my surprises, but I was a little worried about how Jules would react to my house. I was sure she expected something modest like a small condo or something, but my house was a little over-the-top.

Jules
After dropping Calum off to play at Margaret’s house, I got to packing. I was actually really excited to stay at Hunter’s. This was going to be the perfect opportunity to live together without making the commitment to truly live together. Since it wasn’t a vacation, Hunter would get an idea of what it was really like to play the fatherly role to my son. Although, I had to admit, Calum seemed to be extremely well behaved lately.
It didn’t take long to pack up. It was mostly clothes and toys. I put Calum’s high chair by the door, and at the last minute, I grabbed his swim stuff. I wasn’t sure if he had a pool, so I had to text him to confirm. He said he did and to be sure to bring my suit for the hot tub, too.
My girly bits were in desperate need of some Hunter time. Being with him had awakened something in me that had been dead for such a long time. My libido was back in full force, and I was dying to get laid.
My phone rang, but I missed the call before I could check who it was, a text came in.
Hunter: You guys ready?
Me: Yep, but I think the real question is, are you ready for us?
Hunter: I’ve been waiting for you for eight years, baby.
Every time we talked about our time apart, my stomach knotted with guilt, but I knew that wasn’t what he meant. So, I took a deep breath and tried to forgive myself since Hunter had.
Me: Me too. <3
Hunter: I’m on my way. ETA twenty minutes.
Me: See you then.
I ran over to Margaret’s and grabbed Calum, thanking her and letting her know we’d invite her over for tea as soon as the house was ready.
Hunter pulled up right on time. He wasted no time loading us up. Taking off to his place, I followed behind in the car. Calum refused to come with me. He wanted to go in the big truck. I thought the car seat might be a permanent fixture in the truck. I bet the guys on the site were giving him shit about that one.
We pulled off the main street onto a dirt road. I thought this was around where Macy used to live if I was not mistaken. It looked familiar.
A few minutes later, we were pulling down the longest driveway I’d ever seen. It was surrounded by trees, so much so that I couldn’t see the house until we got much closer. When it finally came into view, I was in complete awe. My mouth dropped open. It wasn’t a house. This place was way too big to be called a house. For a brief moment, I thought maybe we were making a stop at a client’s place. But when I spotted the Jeep he had back in high school sitting off to the side, I was positive this was his place.
I got out of the car. I was shaken. This place was amazing. He had nothing but land as far as the eye could see. It was beautiful and peaceful, but the house was something out of a magazine. It was a two-story home with giant columns and a massive front door. The porch had a swing and some chairs, including a little one. Did he do that for Calum? I pushed that thought away. He didn’t have time for that.
Hunter came up behind me, pulling me from my thoughts.
“You coming in or what?” He grinned down at me.
“Yeah. Sorry. I was just admiring your house. It’s gorgeous.”
“Thank you. Now, come on. I have a surprise for Calum.” He sounded like a twelve-year-old. He scooped up Calum, speed walking to the front door, and I could barely keep up.
He pulled out his keys, unlocking the door, and then pointed to the chair. “I got you a little chair, buddy. We can try that out a little later. All right? I have a better surprise first.”
He had bought it for him. This man never ceased to amaze me.
Opening the door, he gestured for me to go first. I stepped in and looked around. The detail in this place was impeccable, but what else would you expect from someone that had so many resources within arm’s reach.
“Did you build this house?” My voice was filled with awe as I continued to look around the foyer.
“Yes. Long story short, we were contracted to build it. The client didn’t have the money to finish. I paid them back every penny they spent plus what they paid for the land, so they weren’t in debt, and I finished the place.”
“Wow. That’s—”
“Can we talk about that in a bit. I want to show Calum. Please?” He was begging, and it was so damn adorable.
I looked back at him, and he was bouncing around like a kid all jacked up on sugar. “Of course. Lead the way.”
He smiled and took off up the massive, winding staircase still carrying Calum. I ran up after him. He rounded the corner and stopped in front of a room that had a sign with what looked like hand-painted flames on it that read Calum’s Room. I looked at Hunter. He no longer looked excited. He was now sweaty and biting his lip, suddenly seeming nervous.
I smiled and took his hand. “That’s so sweet. Calum, did you see this super-cool sign Hunter got for you? It says Calum’s Room.”
“Oooh,” Calum said.
“That’s not the surprise.” His voice was shaky.
I looked up at him and quirked a brow. Instead of answering my unspoken question, Hunter opened the door and put Calum down. Calum shrieked at the top of his lungs, running around the room. The room was a little boy’s dream. It was decked out in everything fire truck.
“I hope he likes fire trucks.” Hunter’s face was flushed, clearly not sure how this was going to be received.
I took his face in my hands and kissed him. “Are you kidding me? How did you? I mean, this is so unexpected. And you can see Calum is excited.”
Looking around the room, I took it all in as Calum was attempting to do. There was a fire truck bed in the middle of the room and a fire truck ride-on toy that Calum just noticed and was attempting to drive around. Hunter helped him onto the motorized toy. Holy shit.
Hunter came up behind me, wrapping his arms around my waist. “I hope this is okay with you. I may have gone a little overboard.”
What the? Was he serious? I turned in his arms, needing to see his face. I reached up to caress his cheek, running my fingers through his beard.
“Hunter, this is hands down the sweetest thing anyone has ever done for him. The smile on his face right now is priceless.”
He looked over at Calum who was still driving around. The look in Hunter’s eyes showed nothing but love, and it melted my heart.
“But you know what the best part of this is?”
He pulled his gaze from Calum.
“The look on your face means even more to me. You’re getting joy from watching him, and that shows me that you didn’t do all of this to buy him, but you just wanted to make him happy.”
He smiled at me. “Of course, that’s why. I love that kid and was worried he would be scared sleeping here. I thought I could make his room as fun as possible for him. I took a stab in the dark and thought every boy loves fire trucks.”
“I love you so much.” I rose up on my tiptoes and kissed him.
“I love you, too.”
We spent the next few hours exploring all the great things that Hunter had set up for Calum. This was honestly the coolest room ever. There was a firehouse mural on the wall and a dress-up area with tons of costumes. Calum’s name was spelled out in large, red, wood letters on the wall. He even had a toy chest full of toys and a bookshelf with kids’ books loaded on the shelves. He’d thought of everything.
“Did you do all this yourself?”
“I wish I could take all the credit. We work with a local design firm, and Jessi clearly has some kick-ass contacts. They were able to overnight everything to me.”
“Incredible. I’m in awe of this space. Maybe I’ll have to do something like this for Calum when the house is done.”
Hunter’s face lit up with an expression I couldn’t place.
“What’s with the look?”
He was looking a little crazy with how big he was smiling. “Does that mean you’re staying in Florida?”
“Of course, I’m staying. No way in hell I’m leaving you again. Your ass is stuck with me now.” I laughed, trying to lighten the moment.
He pounced across the space between us, tackling me to the floor. He braced himself above me. His smile now replaced with a serious expression.
“You’ve just made me the happiest man on earth. I’ve been wanting to ask but didn’t want to pry and scare you off.” He closed his eyes, resting his forehead to mine on a sigh. “They’re staying,” he whispered.
I love how he automatically saw us as a package deal, and he seemed more than happy to have a two-for-one.
“We’re staying,” I whispered back.
The doorbell rang, breaking the moment.
“Are you expecting someone?”
He smirked. “Yes, my Wednesday night booty call. I forgot to cancel. Let me tell her it’s over until further notice.” He laughed at me.
I slapped his shoulder. “Dick.”
“I ordered Chinese for dinner. Hungry?”
My stomach answered for me. I looked down at it. “Clearly starving.”
He picked up Calum, who gave a little protest but not much once he was on Hunter’s shoulders.
“Let’s eat some dinner, and then you can sleep in your new bed.” There was suggestion in his voice, and my lady bits took notice.
“Yay.” Calum threw his little hands into the air excitedly. That kid had never been excited about bed.
After dinner, I gave Calum a bath in the biggest tub ever while Hunter brought in our bags. Calum was pretty much able to swim around since he was so little. Hunter read Calum a fire truck story, and Calum went to bed without a fuss.
After closing the door behind us, we headed downstairs. “Oh, no. I forgot his monitor.”
Hunter’s hand came up, waving around his phone. “I got it covered.”
“What do you have covered? That’s your phone.” I was confused.
“I bought a baby monitor that hooks up to the phone.” He had a cocky smirk on his face.
“Well shit, didn’t you just think of everything.”
“I hope so.”
Following him into the kitchen, I was nervous and not sure why. He pulled a bottle of Riesling out of the refrigerator, began to pour a glass, and then slid it over to me. Hopefully, this would help calm my nerves.
“Now, you’ve officially thought of everything.”
He laughed, grabbing a bottle of beer as he put back the wine. “We can sit out back for a bit if you’d like?”
“Lead the way through your massive house.” I laughed at my lame attempt at humor.
He shook his head, exasperated. Walking past a fireplace in the family room, I did a double take when I saw photos of Calum.
“How did you?”
“I had them printed yesterday.” He shrugged like it was no big deal.
I thought it was a huge deal. I mean, my boyfriend—well, I thought that’s what he was—had photos of my son on his mantel. That was something. I played it off, not wanting to bug him, but I took note of everything this man had done, and my list was growing quickly. I couldn’t get over how lucky I was.
He took my hand, pulling me out the French doors. My jaw dropped when he turned on the pool lights, and everything came into view. It was spectacular.
“Wow. This is beautiful. Calum is going to flip out when he sees this.”
“I’ll admit that it’s pretty cool.” Shrugging again, he sat down, and the sofa swung back.
“Is that a sofa swing?” What the fuck?
“Yup. Come sit.” He patted the seat beside him.
I sat down and looked out over the pool area. There was a hot tub, a rock waterfall, and a slide. A freaking slide. I couldn’t wait to show Calum.
“Do I seriously get to stay here for the next few weeks? This is like staying in a resort. My condo is tiny since California is so expensive. Mama’s house was huge compared to it, but this? It’s a dream home literally.”
“You can stay as long as you’d like. I’m just glad you guys are here, and I get to wake up with you in my bed and fall asleep with you in my arms every night.”
“Be careful what you say, mister, or we might not ever leave.” I laughed.
“You be careful, or I might not ever let you leave.” He gave me a look that said he wasn’t messing around.
I laughed at him, secretly wishing we could stay forever. The thought of living with him didn’t scare me in the least.
He put his arm around me, pulling me in close. “You’ve made me so happy these past few weeks. Just having you around has brought me back to life. Now that you’ve decided to stay, I can’t begin to tell you the emotions I’m feeling. Seriously, the best news I’ve ever received.” He kissed the top of my head and breathed me in.
“If I’m being truthful, I made my mind up a while ago. I was a little scared to say it out loud, though. It’s a big step, you know? But Hunter, you’re the biggest reason for staying. If things don’t work—”
“Don’t say it. Please don’t finish that sentence. You and I were made for each other. I’ve known as long as I can remember, and now that I have you back, I can’t imagine my life without you and Calum in it. You’re it for me, Jules. I want us to be a family.”
I turned my head and looked up at him. Hunter leaned in to kiss me before whispering, “You've made me the happiest man alive, and nothing can top this feeling. Well, until you agree to be my wife." He chuckled when I sucked in a breath and looked at him in shock. “Don't worry, baby. I told you that you'll know when I propose. Don't get all freaked out just yet." He patted my arm.
He kissed me again, but this time, he deepened the kiss and pulled me into his lap. He took my empty wine glass, placing it on the table beside him along with his bottle.
It didn’t take much for me to get excited these days. When he pulled back, I whimpered. He dropped his head back onto the cushion. “As much as I would love to devour you, I need to grab a shower and get to bed. I have an early start tomorrow.”
I pouted a little, but he just laughed.
“Don’t tempt me.” He slapped my ass. “I’m really looking forward to climbing into bed with you tonight, so let’s get up to the shower. If you’re quick, we can shower together.”
I jumped up like I was on fire. “What are we waiting for?”
An hour later, we were climbing into bed. We cleaned each other really well after getting quite dirty in the shower. I knew I’d win that one. He spooned me from behind.
“I love you.” I squeezed Hunter’s hand that rested on my stomach.
“I love you, too.” He kissed my bare shoulder.
It didn’t take me long to fall asleep. His bed felt like I was sleeping on a cloud. Before I knew it, I was being woken by the soft rustling of the sheets as Hunter attempted to sneak out of bed quietly.

Hunter
It was five in the morning, and I noticed my attempt to let Jules sleep had failed. She rolled over and stretched, exposing her bare stomach
.
“Morning, handsome.”
Kneeling on the bed, I leaned over to kiss her. “Morning, beautiful.”
She put her hand up to cover her mouth and shook her head. “Yeah, no. Morning breath. You know better.”
I laughed at her ridiculousness. “Give me a kiss, woman. You know better.” I pulled her hand away and kissed her softly.
“See, that wasn’t so bad, was it?”
She rolled her eyes.
“Now, go back to sleep. It’s way too early for you to be up.”
“I’m all right. I can always nap later with Calum if I need to. I’m going to watch you get ready.”
Her hair was a complete mess, but she couldn’t look more beautiful since she was lying in my bed. I couldn’t believe it. I’d come to the conclusion none of this would ever happen. “Watch away.” I went about my morning routine, well aware of her eyes on me the whole time and loving every minute of it.
When I was ready and should be leaving, I made a detour because I just couldn’t resist. I kneeled on the floor beside the bed and grabbed her legs, yanking her to the edge. I made quick work of removing her panties and spread her open wide. “I’m starving, and you know what they say; breakfast is the most important meal of the day.” My voice was gruff. I couldn’t wait to devour her.
She smirked down at me. “Well, we wouldn’t want you going to work hungry. Now would we?”
I ate her pussy like a starving man. When I was finished, she tried to get up and return the favor, but I insisted that I needed to get to work, and she needed to get back to sleep. “Please make yourself at home. Everything here is free game.”
I leaned down to kiss her one last time. She gripped on to my neck, trying to pull me back into bed. I held my ground because if I got back into bed with her, I wouldn’t end up going to work today. And as appealing as that was, I had to make it in today.
