CHAPTER 10

GLOBAL NEWSCAST: POPE JOHN XXIV’S VEHICLE IS BLOWN UP

An attempted assassination, by an unknown person or groups, of Pope John XXIV occurred today in Rome on his way to the papal summer residence. Fortunately, although his armored vehicle sustained major damage, the Pope was removed from the vehicle by his security guards following his vehicle, and appeared unscathed from the attempt. He was rushed to the hospital for observation, but was soon released and went on to his summer residence.

Rumors have circulated that there have been other attempts on his life, but he seems undaunted and insists on continuing with his enormously busy schedule. It would appear that there seems to be organized efforts too interrupt his efforts at uniting the world Christian churches.

The pontiff’s schedule has been kept more secret since these attempts, and therefore meetings with other church leaders worldwide appear to be more of clandestine operations. One would expect such efforts considering whom the Pope is meeting, not only for his safety, but also the leaders he is attempting to persuade.

While Pope John XXIV is pacing in his study, a gentle hand rests on his shoulder, with a slight fright; he turns to see the Lord. “John, remember my Angels and I are with you at all times. There are many who will attempt to try to kill you, even within the episcopacy, but they will not succeed.” ‘Yes, my Lord, I take comfort in that, but as you know I’m only mortal and it does make my heart go pitter patter every so often.’ “Sleep well my son!”
