Brody's Little Brat Page 11

Brody moved his focus up to her cheeks and smacked the implement hard. It cracked loudly across her bottom, delivering a solid reminder. He changed the speed and rapidly fired the spoon across her behind until it kissed every inch—from the perfect curve of her cheeks to the top of her pinkening rounds. She stopped cursing and now sobbed into her arms.

“Do you want to reword your question?”

“I’m sorry, daddy,” Kara babbled through tears. “Can I ask for a compromise?”

“I’m listening.” Brody brought her panties and pants back up, then helped her to stand. He sat down on one of the kitchen chairs and tugged her onto his knee. “What is it?”

“Can you move the laptop down here? I’ll only use it for school and research. You can limit the time and password it.” Kara curled her fingers in his.

“I suppose…” Brody planted a kiss on her forehead. “But you’re limited like you suggested for the next two weeks.”

“That’s past the time I’m grounded.” Kara looked up at him and pouted. “I thought…”

“Do you want to go to the library to do your research?” Brody shot back, and she immediately shook her head back and forth.

“No, no, I accept your punishment. It won’t happen again.”

“Good.” Brody patted her thigh and she got off his lap. “Now, let’s eat something and move on with our day.”

“There’s still some beef and broccoli in the fridge. Do you want me to heat it up?” Kara brushed the last of her tears away.

Brody nodded and watched as she fixed the leftovers. She had grown a lot over the past few weeks, and his heart filled with even more love for her. She trusted him to do good by her and it made him feel more complete than he could put into words.

Kara stopped and stood still when she caught him watching her.

“I’m just really happy you’re home safe,” he said.

“Me too,” she agreed and went back to her task.

He really was the luckiest man in the world. She was such a good girl—in both her adult and her more innocent mind spaces, and even when she bratted. Kara genuinely wanted to please him and do what he asked. Brody planned to take her out once the semester finished, and she would flip over the moon when she realized why. Now, if only he could keep it secret until then.

  Chapter Ten

Three months flew by and her college semester was finally over. She had done very well in all of her classes and had volunteered at the doctor’s office during the week. Dr. Joe had offered her a part time position answering phones, making appointments, and filing like he and Brody had talked about, and Kara had finally agreed once her classes wrapped up.

Working at the office got her out of the house more, and she also got to spend time with Kaitlyn. The two of them were becoming fast friends, and Kara had agreed to come over soon for a play date. She wanted to try to go back to an even younger mindset than she normally did, and both Brody and Dr. Joe had readily encouraged her.

Bailey had become her closest friend and had forgiven her for the stupid antics on their sleepover night. The other woman had a lot going on, but they still found time to meet up a few times a week to share stories and just let go. More often than not they were in their younger mindsets, but next week they were planning a trip to the mall as adults. Shopping therapy broke through both of their bad moods and also steered Kara clear of her previous attempts with food therapy.

Kara had also been spending more time outside of the house than before. She’d interacted with many different littles and their mommies and daddies, while always remembering to be polite and accepting. She thanked her lucky stars each day for the wonderful man who’d brought them to this point. Her Brody. Her daddy.

“Kara?” Brody’s playful tone snapped her happily out of her thoughts.

  “Babe?”

“Dr. Joe told me about this amazing hike through the woods with a waterfall at the end. It’s not steep or anything, and it’s about a twenty-minute drive from here.”

“Uh-huh?” Kara met the distance between them and wrapped her arms around his waist. “But what about the bugs and the poison ivy and the weird animals…?”

“I’m not a weird animal!” Brody pulled her up off the ground and twirled her before setting her back on her feet. It was a gesture she used to balk at, but now she felt very loved when he did it. “Seriously, though. I have it all planned out! The forecast is warm and sunny.”

“Okay, Brody the explorer…” Kara winked. “I’ll go pack some trail fuel.” She turned to go towards the kitchen, wiggling her behind as she went. Brody followed and landed two swats across her bottom.

“Hey!” she screeched, not angry but definitely surprised as she spun around. “What was that for?”

Brody grinned and kissed her hard. “If you bounce it like that, it makes me want to smack it… then of course, it makes me want to do other things.”

Kara waggled her eyebrows playfully. “Okay, okay! Let me go now or we’ll never get out of the house!”

  * * *

Brody drove to the park but didn’t say much. He was too nervous about the plan he had for them.

Finally, Kara blurted out, “Are you gonna tie to me a tree and leave me in the woods?”

“What?” He shook his head, then moved his hand to take hers. “No, I would never tie you to a tree!” Kara let out a sigh of relief as he cocked a smile. “A log maybe…”

“Brody!” Kara giggled. “You seem far away.” Her tone dropped its playfulness. “If you want to turn around, we can hike some other day.”

“Nah, we’re here. It’ll be fun.” Brody pulled into the wooded park, paid the entrance fee, and parked. He hadn’t thought his attitude had caused a red flag, but apparently Kara knew him better than he knew himself.

“I’ve got a cooler with an extra water bottle for each of us. I can’t wait to get to the top! I have to tell you about next semester too. I got the pamphlet in the mail last week…” Kara continued to babble on and on about how many credits she needed to take versus how many were online or in a real classroom. She explained various projects, some which were community-based, which needed to be completed before she could do her thesis for her final project and be able to finish her degree. He listened, mostly, trying hard to seem interested even though something really important had taken over all of his attention.

“Babe? You’ve gone all quiet again. Are you going to push me over the water…?”

Brody stopped walking and bent Kara over a log near the edge of the trail. He landed four hard slaps on the seat of her cute jeans. “The only thing I’m going to do at the top is spank your butt until its burning if you don’t stop making up terrible ways for you to die on our hike.” He punctuated his statement with two more smacks.

“Ouch! Ouch!” Kara bucked. “I’m sorry! For crying out loud, Brody, let me up!”

He straightened and set her back on her feet. “For crying out loud?’ Brody couldn’t keep the grin off his face. “Really?”

“It’s just you’ve barely made any comments at all about school. I’m so close to my degree, and it’s been a really hard semester. You dragged us out here to have fun, but you don’t seem to be having any.” Kara bit her lip as he leaned over to kiss her. Finally she gave in and gave him several kisses back. “Are you really okay?”

“Yes. We’re almost at the top and I hear the view is amazing. I’ve heard if you reach it at a certain point when the sun is in the sky, you can see a rainbow, and I know how much you love them.” He took her hand and tugged her towards the path.

“I do love rainbows,” Kara agreed as she wiped the dirt from the lap of her jeans with her free hand. She picked up the cooler which had slipped from her hand during her quick dip over the log, and then she continued walking.

Five minutes later they were standing at the end of the trail and facing a huge waterfall, and sure enough, they could clearly see the sparkling hues of a rainbow coming off the sun’s rays in the mist. Kara
clapped her hands together excitedly and dug her phone out of her pocket. She held it up to take a picture but instead nearly dropped her phone when Brody got down on one knee.

  “Kara—”

“Oh my God!” Kara threw her hands over her mouth. Tears streamed down her cheeks as she took in his pose and what he meant to say.

Brody carefully cracked open a small velvet box. He had wanted this moment to be perfect and hoped she understood why he’d acted so oddly. “I brought you up here because I wanted to tell you how much you mean to me. I love the times we spend together, no matter what age you act like, but it’s more than just that. You’ve blossomed into this amazing, confident woman, and I want to spend the rest of our lives together.”

Kara moved her hands to brush away the flow of her tears. She nodded several times, listening to his words, clearly moved. “I love you!”

“I love you too.” Brody picked up the white-gold band with its dazzling heart cut diamond and held it up to her left hand. “I promise to always be good to you as a husband and as a daddy. Kara Mitchell, will you marry me?”

“Oh! Brody!” She nodded several more times, as if unable to get the words out. “Yes! Yes, I will marry you!” Kara made a sound that was a cross between a laugh and a sob as he slid the ring onto her finger. “Of course!” She opened her arms wide and he got to his feet to embrace her. “I’m so excited!”

“I’m so happy you said yes.” Brody kissed her deeply. “Come on. Let’s go back down the trail. They’ve got this nice secluded spot where we can eat.”

Kara giggled. “I know what I’d like to do more in such a nice secluded spot…”

“Kara!” Brody tickled her sides. “Come on. We have plenty of time to engage in extracurricular activities later.”

“Ooooh!” Kara raised an eyebrow. “I bet I can guess what those include!”

They headed back down the path, arms linked, happiness shining in their eyes as they began their next adventure together.

  Rules of the Pack

Alisha Knight is a down-to-earth woman who just so happens to have her sights set on the beta of a large werewolf pack. But despite the way her body reacts to his powerful presence, bitter experience has shown her that a wolf pack is no place for a human girl.

As his alpha’s trusted second-in-command, Phil McKenna takes his responsibilities seriously, even when that means taking disobedient females over his knee for an attitude adjustment. Though he is smitten with Alisha, the feisty little human friend of his alpha’s mate, humans and wolves don’t usually mix well and her presence could easily put both her and the pack in danger.

Yet try as he might, Phil can’t keep his hands off Alisha. His fearsome urge to mark her, claim her, and dominate her completely is only increased when her defiant attitude earns her a hard, bare-bottom spanking. But when the pack is attacked by a cunning, vicious enemy and Alisha’s life is put in grave peril, Phil must decide if he is ready to cast aside caution and take her as his mate.
