Unthinkable: (Unstoppable - Book 2) (The Unstoppable Series) Page 25

by Danielle Hill

“Husband.” The word rolled off my lips and sent a wave of giddiness racing through me. I’d never allowed myself to imagine it.

It had always felt one step too far to tie him down. I’d wanted to leave him with that option, that get-out should he ever need it, despite the fact he’d asked me to marry him four times and told me for ten years he was going nowhere.

Leon sauntered towards me, slowly closing the distance between us until he loomed over me, his gaze intense as he trailed a thumb over my cheekbone. “Mrs. Bradshaw,” he murmured, his eyes softening, mouth curving. “Suits you, baby.”

I reached up and closed my hand around his, turning into his touch. “You suit me.”

He tipped his head with a smile.

Standing here as Leon’s wife, it seemed impossible to believe I’d ever felt anything other than the soul-deep love I had for him now. This man had taken my greatest fear and turned it into my biggest strength. He loved me so hard, he’d left me no room to remember how afraid I’d always been of the emotion. He’d never let me doubt it.

Instead of dragging me down, Leon’s love had lifted me up.

  Every day.

  Including the dark ones.

  Even the darkest.

When it happened; when my mom’s blue eyes met mine and her face showed no signs of recognition. When her brows had pinched together tighter the longer I’d stared at her, her confusion growing with each passing second. When she’d rejected my touch because I was effectively a stranger to her—

“Hey,” Leon crooned, his hand closing around my jaw. He knew. He always knew.

I blinked, pulling my gaze up. I missed her. Every day. But especially this day. It broke my heart that she didn’t get to see this, but she’d made me promise that I wouldn’t let the bad blight the good. That I wouldn’t let sadness overwhelm my happiness.

Tears sparkled in my eyes and I tried to brush them away with the tip of a finger. Leon dipped to press a soft kiss to my lips.

  “It’s okay, sweetheart.”

I nodded, folding my arms around his neck.

“She’s here, baby. She’s with you today.”

I squeezed my eyes closed and pushed up onto my toes, pressing my nose into his throat. God, I loved him. “I know.” I breathed him in.

“Wanna get out of here?” he asked, voice low.

I leaned back and met his eyes with a half smirk. “You want to leave our guests at our wedding?”

“It’s late, and besides, we’re leaving them with an open bar. I doubt they’ll even notice we’re gone. Plus,” he paused, easing back to trail his hungry eyes over me, “I goddamn need to get you out of that dress.”

I grinned and arched a brow. “What are you waiting for, Pretty Boy?”

Leon practically growled in response, before dragging me from the room.

He drove us home in record time, his hand working its way under the material of my dress, those long fingers creeping up the inside of my thigh as he tried to keep his focus on the road.

He stopped the car and pulled his hand away, his reluctance painted across his face. In three long strides, Leon rounded the car and opened the door, then lifted me into his arms and carried me across the threshold.

My heart burst with adoration, with hunger, joy, lust, so many emotions I could never pinpoint them all. He made me feel so fucking much. He always had. Even when I’d wanted to wring his neck or slap his face. He’d always made me feel.

Leon stopped to push the door closed then carried me up the stairs and into our bedroom without breaking a sweat. He planted me on my feet at the foot of our bed and took a slow step back.

“So damn gorgeous,” Leon breathed, the words falling from his lips like a prayer, his eyes travelling a scorching hot path down my body.

I reached under my arm and closed my fingers around the zip, my eyes rising to meet his as it lowered. The sound of the zip giving way reverberated around the room, heightening the already palpable sexual tension, and Leon let out a pained groan when the material cascaded over my curves and pooled around my feet.

  “You’re fucking killing me, baby.”

I smiled as he stalked toward me, his blue eyes dark and burning, his hands landing on my hips, gliding up to my waist, my breasts. My head dropped back, a moan flowing from me when he lowered the cups of my bra and bent to suck a straining nipple into his mouth.

Then he trailed his lips lower, his breath heating my skin, setting me alight. He paused and pressed a soft kiss to the flat surface of my belly before gripping my thighs and tipping me back onto the bed.

I gave a quick yelp as I flew backward, laughing as I landed on the mattress with a jolt. My chuckles quickly subsided when I glanced down and watched Leon’s head disappear between my spread thighs. He nudged my white lace thong aside, then dragged his tongue through my folds. My back jerked up from the bed, my legs squeezing around his head as I wriggled underneath him. Strong hands closed around my upper thighs, forcing them apart as he lightly ran a finger over me before flicking my pulsing bud with the tip of his tongue.

“Behave, baby,” Leon murmured, his flaming gaze on mine as I panted under his touch.

“Damn, you’re way too good at that,” I gasped, squirming.

He tossed me a wicked smirk, then dove back in, his tongue spearing straight through me. Thirty seconds later, I was a writhing mess, grinding against his face as he squeezed my ass cheeks and held me to him.

I lay boneless and sated, my chest pumping madly as Leon tugged my underwear down my legs then climbed up my body. I smiled lazily as he brought his face to mine and hovered over me.

“I love you,” I murmured, curling a hand around his jaw.

Leon crushed his lips to mine, taking my breath away as he settled between my thighs. When his hardened length slid over me, I arched up with a soft cry.

“I need you inside of me,” I breathed.

He shifted back immediately, and I watched with heavy-lidded eyes as he took hold of himself and lined up with my entrance, then eased inside.

A frown tugged at my brow. “Wait,” I said.

Leon brought his head up as he thrust forward with a guttural groan.

“You don’t have a condom on,” I choked, the words barely making it out of my throat as the sensation of him bare inside me sent my eyes rolling back in my head, stars shooting behind my closed lids.

“I know,” he grunted, lowering to wrap his arms around me.

My eyes opened to find his staring down at me.

I’d never found a form of birth control that agreed with me, so we’d always used condoms. Pregnancy had been out of the question with the threat of Alzheimer’s looming over us, so we’d always been super careful about it. For him not to wear one now…

“What are you saying?” I murmured, my heart thudding in my chest as I gazed into my husband’s eyes.

Leon inhaled, stilling. He brushed my hair back off my face. “I want you to have my babies, Lissa. I want to see you with a swollen belly, feel them moving inside of you. I want to be there with you when you bring them into the world, hold you both when you cradle him or her in your arms for the first time. We can have that now, sweetheart. If that’s what you want?”

The sure words, followed by his tentative question, split my chest open in the best way, and I felt the sting of tears hit my lids. I’d never imagined myself as a mother. It would have been too painful, and I’d gotten so used to blocking out the idea that it hadn’t occurred to me even after the fog had cleared and presented us with a clear path toward a future we’d never dared hope for.

  Leon’s baby.

Water tracked from the corners of my eyes before it registered that I was crying. Leon caught my tears with his lips, his hands framing my face.

“You okay?” he asked, his voice soft against my skin.

I nodded, the flow of moisture from my eyes stemming as our gazes collided. My heart soared, filling my chest with warmth as I lifted my hips and locked m
y legs around his waist.

“Come on then, husband,” I murmured with a playful smirk, my heart filled with wonder, “show me what you can do with that average sized dick.”

Leon’s head fell back with a boom of laughter, and then he shook his head and slammed his hips against mine, driving deep into my body. “Oh, I’ll fucking show you, Snow Queen.”

  I didn’t doubt it.

  I didn’t doubt him.

  And I never would again.

Leon Bradshaw was exactly what I’d always needed… the pretty boy who’d made the unthinkable happen and thawed this snow queen’s heart.
